It was the first soccer game of the season and young Tyrone Pines was determined to start the season off strong by helping to pull off a win for the Gravity Falls Goats. As he stood his ground waiting for the starting whistle, his family watched and cheered him on from the sidelines. Their encouragement was exactly what he needed to pump himself up and get ready to play as hard as he could.
Just then, the whistle blew and the game was on. A player from the other team captured the ball and started running it to towards the Goats' goal. Tyrone ran after him, but the other player kicked it towards his teammate, so Tyrone followed him instead.
With his family and the rest of the crowd cheering for him, Tyrone kept a close follow on his target opponent. He was almost all the way to the goal. If he was going to steal the ball and keep this kid from scoring, it was now or never. Fast as he could, he ran out in front and tried to kick the ball away, but just as he did, the other player kicked the ball as well, causing both of them to trip over each other and lose the ball.
The ref blew the whistle, calling for a time-out as the two boys climbed off of each other. Tyrone could feel a stinging pain on his knee. He looked down and saw a big, red, painful gash right in the middle of it.
His coach came out on the field to check on him and saw the gash. "Alright, Pines, you're out. Go take a seat on the bench," he said.
Tyrone did as his coach told him and painfully hobbled over to the bench. His family quickly went down to check on him.
"Tyrone. Are you okay, buddy?" Dipper asked his son.
"What happened?" asked Zoe.
"I got a big scrape on my knee, so Coach benched me," Tyrone explained, showing them the spot on his leg where he'd been injured.
They all winced as they could see how painful it looked. "Ooh. Yeah, that's bad," Pacifica stated obviously. "Come with me, honey. I have just the thing in the car to take care of that."
Tyrone followed his mother all the way back to their car, the gash on his knee stinging him the whole way. He was curious as to what exactly she would use to stop the pain, but he really hoped it wasn't something that would sting even more. Once they made it to the car, she closed all the doors behind them to make sure they were alone.
"Okay. Show me your knee," Pacifica requested, which her son obliged by lifting up his injured knee for her to see.
"This isn't gonna sting, is it?" he asked worriedly.
"Don't worry," she said with a comforting smile. "You won't feel a thing."
Tyrone squinted as he prepared for whatever potential painful treatment his mom was about to use, but to his surprise, all she did was kiss the spot where his leg was injured. He was confused as first. How was one little kiss going to heal him enough to play again? But then, right before his eyes, the gash on his knee started to sparkle and glow, the pain slowly, but surely fading away. Soon, the gash and all the pain that came with it were completely gone and his leg felt just like new again.
The boy was speechless as he looked at his fully healed knee and then to his mom. "Did… did you just use magic to heal my knee?" he asked.
"That's right," she confirmed. "It's how I've treated all of your injuries ever since you guys were babies."
"Wait, so… every time you kissed our booboos to make them better, it actually worked?"
"Mm-hm."
"Wow," Tyrone exclaimed. He thought back to all the times he and his siblings had accidentally stubbed their toes, bumped their heads or scraped their elbows. Every time they'd gotten hurt, their mom had simply kissed the spot where it hurt and in no time, the pain would just magically disappear. She never used a band-aid or antioxidant or anything. She never needed them because her kisses really did have magical healing powers. And now that they knew she'd been a witch the whole time, it all made sense. "That explains so much," he said.
"Now come on. You've got a game to win," his mom encouraged him.
Pacifica and Tyrone exited the car and headed back to the field, with Tyrone feeling motivated once again to lead his team to victory. Now that his knee was all better, he felt like he could whoop the entire opponent team all by himself. But even if he tried to do that and failed, he knew now that his mom could just fix him right back up again with a single smooch, no problem. He was basically invincible.
"Oh, and by the way, honey," Pacifica said, getting his attention. "Don't think this means you can just pull whatever dumb and dangerous stunts you want with no consequences. Just because I can heal you, doesn't mean you can't still be grounded. Got it?"
"Got it, Mom," Tyrone replied.
Okay. Maybe he was still a little vincible.
In this installment, we learn a fun little tidbit about something else that Pacifica's magic powers can do. Even if they never realized it before, Pacifica has always loved using her magic to help her kids.
