At the Beach House, Steven left the house as he pushed his bicycle down the stairs. A roaring noise was heard, that rumbled the place and startled Steven as he let go of his bike. The bicycle tumbled down the stairs.

"Oh! Woooh-" Steven said as he ran after his bike.

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl were walking towards the beach house while Ezra came out of the house.

"I don't think they are earthquakes, they're too frequent!" Pearl said.

"Heads up!" Ezra called out.

Steven's bike collapsed in front of the Gems, that made Steven catch up to it and pick it up.

"Hey look!" Amethyst said. "Steven's got a bike! Where ya goin', Steven?"

"Just out for a ride." Steven replied.

"In the sand?" Pearl asked.

"Yup!" Steven answered before he took off.

Steven struggled to ride his bike in the sand. He looked up and saw a dark-skinned girl nearby, who was reading a book on the sand. Steven then paddled his bike past her and parked it.

"Some smooth ride..." Steven said out loud before he turned to look at the girl, who was engrossed in her book. "Five speeds..." He repeatedly turned to between her and his bike. "Hand brakes... Electric blue finish with a tiger bell!" He rung the bell to draw the girl's attention, but it didn't work. "I bet there are a lot of kids who'd love to ride this bi- Woooah!"

Steven tried to climb onto his bike, but he fell over. The girl finally turned her head towards Steven, who was sitting on top of his fallen bike. Embarrassed, Steven threw his helmet away and ran off while screaming.

"AHHH!!!" Steven screamed.

Back at the Beach House, Steven returned back home and slammed the door behind him while he panted. He then turned to the right and noticed the Gems and Ezra, who were watching through a window.

"Whaddup?" Steven greeted, trying to be casual.

"Who were you talking to?" Pearl asked.

"Huh?" Steven asked.

"That girl." Garnet said.

"You like her?" Ezra asked.

"You saw?" Steven asked but blushed as he realized what Ezra said. "She's just a girl I know, except she doesn't know me. We never talked."

"You do like her!" Amethyst gasped before she smushed Steven's face.

"Uhh... I like everyone..." Steven lied as he pushed Amethyst's arms aside.

"Let's set up a play-date!" Pearl suggested. "I'll write up an invitation and work out a schedule. Oh! We'll have to find out her favorite kind of tea..."

"No." Garnet denied. "Just talk to her."

"Garnet's right, it's better if you just introduce yourself and talk to her." Ezra agreed. "That's how I got to know my wife."

"Okay." Steven said. "But you guys can't watch this time! It'll mess up my funky flow."

"Funky flow?" Pearl and Amethyst asked.

"It's his way of acting cool." Ezra explained.

"We won't watch." Garnet said as she adjusted her visor.

"Alright!" Steven said before he ran to the fridge to take out a glowing red orange bracelet.

"What's that?" Amethyst asked.

"Nothing!" Steven answered as he ran out of the house.

"So who was your wife, Ezra?" Amethyst asked.

"Her name was Vee and let's just say...she was incredible." Ezra said with a smile as he looked at his wedding ring.

On the beach, Steven was practicing his speech as he was walking towards the girl.

"Hi! My name is Steven." Steven said. "Hi, my name is Ste-ven. Hi my name is... Stevan? Oh-whoah!"

Suddenly another roar was heard, that caused the earth to shake and startled both Steven and the girl. Steven looked up and saw a piece of the Crystal Temple breaking and started to fall toward the girl. Steven gasped before he ran over and pounced onto the girl.

"Hi, my name is Steven!" Steven said.

Steven's gem started to glow and created a pink bubble-like shield that immediately surrounded both him and the girl. The rubble fell onto the bubble and shattered that left the two kids unharmed.

"Whoa! How did I do that?" Steven asked himself before he turned toward the girl. "Hi, my name is Steven!"

The girl adjusted her glasses, a bit startled.

"Connie." The girl introduced before Steven helped her on her feet and she touched the bubble. "What happened?"

"I'm magic, well... half magic, on my mom's side." Steven replied.

"You did this?" Connie asked.

"Apparently." Steven answered. "I'm a member of the Crystal Gems, we fight monsters and protect humanity and stuff."

"Oh! That's kinda like my dad." Connie said. "He's a cop. Well... more like a private security guard."

Steven and Connie exchanged stares for a brief while before Connie spoke again.

"So... how long does it usually last?" Connie asked.

"Oh! Right." Steven said before he started straining himself and even hit his gem.

"What's wrong?" Connie asked.

"It uh... doesn't seem to wanna go away." Steven replied.

"Oh." Connie said as she looked down.

"So... I don't see you around that often." Steven said as he started pushing against the bubble.

"My dad works for a bunch of different beaches, so we're never in the same place long." Connie explained as she pushed along too.

"I go on adventures with the Gems sometimes." Steven said. "They usually say it's too dangerous for me though."

Steven pushed the bubble further, as it inched a bit, and he fell over.

"Do you always go in a bubble?" Connie asked.

"No, this is new." Steven replied. "I don't know what this is. But it's okay! The Gems will know what to do."

Steven and Connie tried to roll the bubble to Steven's house, but they couldn't get up the steep hill leading towards it.

"Awww what?" Steven complained as he pushed the bubble, but it does not move. "Hey guys! Garnet! Help!"

"I don't think they can hear you." Connie said.

"Aaaww..." Steven complained as he facepalmed himself. "That's right. I told them not to watch."

"We can just wait here until they come out." Connie suggested.

"No, no, no, it's okay!" Steven reassured. "I've got other friends that can help."

At the Big Donut, Sadie was attempting to break the bubble with a hammer while Lars was laughing out loud.

"Way to go, Steven!" Lars mocked. "Is this your magic love bubble or something? Did you make it because you're in looove?"

Lars pressed his face against the bubble.

"That's Lars." Steven said to Connie. "We're basically BFFs."

"He makes weird faces." Connie commented.

Lars proceeded to make kissy faces and licked the bubble.

"Lars, quit being a jerk and help!" Sadie said angrily.

"What? I'm helping Steven on his date." Lars said in defense.

"You're embarrassing him!" Sadie argued.

"No, I'm not!" Lars denied.

"Yes, you are!" Sadie argued.

"He and Sadie run the Big Donut." Steven added as he and Connie ignored the argument outside.

"Do... they get along?" Connie asked.

They saw Sadie push Lars as they continued to argue.

"They're crazy about each other." Steven answered.

"I'm gonna go try something else!" Sadie said as she went inside the Big Donut.

"Anyway, this place has the best doughnuts!" Steven said. "I come here, like, everyday with my best friend; Ezra!"

"My parents don't let me eat doughnuts." Connie said. "They have trans fats."

"WHHAAAAATTT??!!" Steven said with a shocked face.

Lars started making kissy faces again behind Steven.

"Well it's still a cool place to hang out." Steven admitted.

"Aaaahhh!!!" Sadie yelled as she ran out of the Big Donut with a stool and smashed it against the bubble, but it destroyed the stool on impact.

"I have a better idea." Steven said with a nervous chuckle.

At the Pier, Connie looked around with an amazed face.

"Whoa, a trawler!" Connie said. "And a little skip-jack!"

"You know a lot about boats." Steven said, impressed.

"That's what happens when you hang out at the beach and don't swim and don't have friends..." Connie said, slowly. "Y-you look at boats..."

"Heh, uh..." Steven said before he noticed a boy holding a bag of popcorn.

The boy had fair skin with a small tuft of blond hair and a chubby face. He wore a white sweater, a deep periwinkle shirt tied around his neck, and pale red footie pants.

"Oh hey, Onion, Onion!" Steven greeted, that made Onion wave. "We need a harpoon gun!"

"What?!" Connie asked in shock.

"To pop the bubble." Steven said.

"Can't we just go back to your house?" Connie asked.

"It's okay, I'm a Gem." Steven reassured. "Onion, we need a harpoon gun! HAR-POON-GUUUN!"

Onion ate the popcorn obliviously. Steven sighed and breathed on the bubble to creating fog where he attempted to illustrate a boat firing a harpoon gun at the bubble.

"Haar-pooon-guuun..." Steven said, but Onion continued eating obliviously that made him facepalm. "UGH!"

"Let me try." Connie said.

She breathed fog on the bubble too and spelled out "harpoon gun". Onion gave her a thumbs up and ran off. Steven looked at her, impressed.

"It just made more sense." Connie said.

A boat horn was heard as Onion stood at the helm of a boat with the harpoon gun. Steven and Connie screamed as they leaned out of the way in the bubble. Onion shot a harpoon at the bubble, which got deflected by the bubble and hit a nearby boat. Onion gave them a thumbs-up.

"The trawler..." Connie said as she watched the boat sink into the water.

At Beach City Funland, Steven and Connie rolled the bubble in the amusement park.

"Funland?" Connie repeated in confusion.

"Yeah! Tons of horrible accidents happen here everyday!" Steven explained. "There's gotta be something to break this bubble."

"Umm..." Connie muttered.

"We just gotta find the right ride." Steven said before he spotted a roller coaster. "Yeah, the kiddie coaster!"

Steven and Connie stepped onto the platform as the roller coaster was taking off.

"Alright, we just roll down this ramp as the carts are coming at us, and the crash will break us free!" Steven explained.

"What happens after the bubble pops?" Connie asked.

"We'll be free!" Steven replied, before an awkward pause started.

"Steven, this is a bad idea-!" Connie warned before another roar was heard and started shaking the place.

The bubble started rolling them down the roller coaster tracks. The roller coaster collided with them, pushing them along. Mr. Smiley hit the emergency break and stopped the ride. The inertia launched the bubble off the tracks and sent both Steven and Connie flying and screaming out to sea. The bubble hit the water and sank all the way to the ocean floor.

"Where are we?" Connie asked.

"The bottom of the ocean." Steven answered as he looked around, that made Connie gasped horrified. "It's okay!"

"Are we even close to the shore?" Connie asked.

"Yeah, sure!" Steven said.

"Let's start rolling." Connie said.

"It's a good thing this bubble is airtight, otherwise we'd be drowning right now." Steven laughed nervously, while Connie was visibly agitated. "Don't worry Connie, I have an idea that will definitely work, when we get back-."

Just then, a huge worm-like monster swam above them that scarred Connie.

"A huge worm! It's okay, look! It only wants to eat that bright stuff." Steven said as the worm monster consumed some nearby glowing red seaweed. "See? Not scary at all."

The Worm Monster began to burrow into the ground and created a crevice underneath Steven and Connie, that made the bubble sink deeper into it.

"Ughhh..." Steven said before he realized his foot is on Connie's face. "Oh, sorry! Are you alright?"

Connie stood up, speechless.

"It's not so bad." Steven said before he looked up from inside the crevice. "Uhhh. I-It's okay, I uh..."

"It's NOT OKAY!" Connie snapped.

"Uh?!" Steven said, frightened.

"You keep saying that but you don't know what you're doing! Now we're going to suffocate or starve at the bottom of the ocean and only my parents will notice because no one else cares about me!" Connie said as she started tearing up.

"Huh?" Steven muttered in confusion.

"I'm gonna disappear without ever making a single friend..." Connie cried before she broke down and started crying.

Steven then held up the glowing bracelet he retrieved from the fridge to Connie.

"We can be friends." Steven said, that made Connie blush. "I saw you at the Boardwalk Parade last year. You dropped your bracelet. I picked it up, but then I couldn't find you. I saved it in the freezer so it would last longer, in case I saw you again."

"Oh! You were the kid on the car wash float." Connie said as she remembered with a chuckle. "You had soap bubbles in your hair."

"I was supposed to be a scrub brush." Steven laughed with a blush before he put the bracelet on Connie's wrist. "I'm sorry Connie. If I had returned your bracelet back then, you wouldn't be stuck in this bubble with me now."

"No, it's okay." Connie reassured. "I'm having fun."

The bubble suddenly bursted opened that exposed Steven and Connie to the water. Steven lead Connie as they swam upwards to the water surface before they gasped for air. They started laughing, but suddenly, the Worm Monster emerged and attacked them. The wave created from the attack splashed Steven and Connie back on shore. The Worm Monster continued to pursue them.

At the market, Ezra held a bag of groceries to take back when he suddenly heard a fight going on under the Funland's Pier.

"Steven!" Ezra gasped before he dropped the bag and ran off to help his half human gem friend.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Come on, come on!" Connie said as they ran away. "Hide in the rocks, Steven!"
Connie tried to climb up a bunch of rocks while Steven ran under the pier. The Worm Monster aimed for Connie. Ezra landed in front of Steven with his shield on his arm.
"Steven, you both need to get out of here!" Ezra alerted.
"Why is it chasing us?!" Steven asked before he noticed Connie's bracelet. "The bracelet! It eats bright stuff. Connie!"
"Steven!" Connie shouted as she ran away from the Worm Monster.
"Give me the bracelet!" Steven said as he ran toward Connie and took her bracelet.
"What?!" Connie asked.
"It's okay, now go, go! Run that way!" Steven said before he pushed Connie in a different direction with Ezra. "I'm sorry! Bud, get ready to catch me when I'm ready."
"I hope you know what you're doing!" Ezra shouted.
The Worm Monster pursued Steven, who now has possession of the bracelet. Steven zigzagged around the pillars of the pier while yelling frantically, that caused the monster to wrap and knot around itself. The immobilized monster struggled to break free as Ezra caught Steven in his arms before he set him down for Connie and Steven to hold hands in horror. The pillars broke from the struggle, that causing the pier to collapse on the monster, crushing and poofing it. The Gems came rushing towards them.
"STEVEN!" The Crystal Gems shouted.
"Steven, what's going on?!" Pearl asked. "What did you do?!"
"He was incredible!" Connie replied with an amazed smile.
"Really? You mean it?" Steven asked, which Connie nodded.
"Not bad, buddy." Ezra added with a smile.
Garnet picked up a fallen Gem in the background and bubbled it away.
"Here's your bracelet... again." Steven said as he gave the bracelet back to her.
"Thanks." Connie said with a chuckle.
"So, are you going to introduce us?" Amethyst asked as she grabbed Steven, which made him blush.
"Steven was so excited to meet you." Pearl said to Connie. "Right, Steven?"
Steven nodded with a nervous laugh.
"Hey! Don't mess with his funky flow." Garnet said as she picked up Amethyst and Pearl before she walked off with them.
"Funky flow?" Connie asked.
"Uhh..." Steven groaned in embarrassment.
"Let's agree to keep that part quiet." Ezra said.
"Thanks, bud." Steven said with a small smile.
