George and Higgins were heading home. They had decided to stick together after the incident with Detective Murdoch. Even though Higgins was pleased to be going home, George seemed to look a little bit different. Higgins could tell that his friend was keeping feelings to himself.

"Missing the detective?" Higgins finally spoke.

"A little." George muttered.

"He's going to be fine you know." Higgins pushed into George's shoulders.

"I know Henry but I can't help worrying about him." George shrugged.

Higgins stopped in his tracks. George thought he was messing about so continued to walk on.

"George." Higgins called to him.

"Come on Higgins, you were the one who wanted to go home." George called back.

Higgins didn't answer. George finally gave in and turned around. Higgins' face had gone white like he had seen a ghost! George looked around but couldn't see anything. George shrugged again as he joined Higgins.

"What is it Henry?" George whispered.

"Someone's been following us." Higgins whispered back.

"What are you talking about?"

Higgins nodded over to one of the shadows near them. George looked more closely. Higgins was right! There was someone there staring straight at them. Higgins ducked behind George so George had to go first against the person who was standing there.

"Show yourself." George called out.

The figure didn't move. George and Higgins looked at each other and then back at the figure.

"You heard him. Show yourself!" Higgins shouted in a higher pitch than usual.

The figure rolled his head and moved a little. They still couldn't see who it was however, and George didn't want to get any closer. Neither did Higgins who was now cowering behind George more than ever.

Brakenreid was clearing up his room. He was looking forward to his holiday but now seemed a bit different. True if he didn't go Margerat would go mad! He then picked up a photo from his desk. It had been taken only a few weeks ago of the whole of station house No.4. Brakenreid sighed with a smile.

"Oh Murdoch." Brakenreid sighed as he looked over the picture.

"Reminiscing?" Margaret's voice came from the door.

Brakenreid looked up at her. He hadn't noticed her being there and hadn't expected her yet.

"Something like that." Brakenreid smiled.

"I heard about William." Margaret came into the office.

"Yes bad news. Julia and Sam are over there but haven't heard anything back."

"Sam can look after herself."

"I know that all too well my dear!" Brakenreid rolled his eyes.

"I know where she gets it from as well!" Margaret sighs looking down at the photo her husband was holding.

"Yes. Murdoch has always had a strong sense of duty."

"So they're going to be fine!" Margaret reassured her.

Brakenreid knew what that meant. Even though it sounded like he wanted to stay, this holiday wasn't something to miss. Brakenreid closed his suitcase and put down a note on his desk for anyone who read it. He then left with Margaret on his holiday.

Sam waited outside whilst her mother was in with her father. She wanted to go in badly but didn't want to disturb them even if her father wasn't awake yet. Julia had also said if she waited, that Murdoch might be awake again by the time she got into visit him.

"Alright?" Pendrick's voice came from next to her.

"Better now I'm here." Sam smiled.

"When's he going to be up?"

"We don't know. Soon we hope but we just don't know."

Julia then came out of the door. She wiped away tears from her eyes and nodded at the both of them.

"You can go in now dear." Julia nodded at Sam.

Sam nodded back and went in. Pendrick wanted to follow but knew Sam would like to be alone. Julia didn't respond to Pendrick which wasn't surprising.

"Julia." Pendrick acknowledged her.

"Mr Pendrick." Julia muttered under her breath.

"I'm here for Sam. No one else."

"Good because I know William wouldn't want to see you."

"I'm sure that's not true."

Julia finally turned to face the inventor. Her face was as black as thunder. Pendrick knew to be quiet and to keep out of Murdoch's business.

"You can go." Julia told him.

"But I was going to stay for Sam…" Pendrick tried to speak up for himself.

"Go!" Julia shouted.

Pendrick took a few steps back. Normally he was used to this coming from the inspector or Murdoch if he was in a bad mood. He didn't expect it from Julia! He knew it was no use in trying to battle with her however.

"Alright. Give my best wishes to the detective." Pendrick nodded leaving.

Julia felt awful once he had gone. She hated shouting at people but it was needed. Pendrick seems to always get in the way and now was not the time for him to be around.

Pendrick was just heading home. He had nearly got there when he saw three figures in the dark. He didn't want to get into any trouble but he couldn't just leave these people out here.

"Well who are you?" George's voice cut through the darkness.

Pendrick knew he had to step in. If Higgins and George were in danger, then someone had to help them. He stepped towards the figure nearest to him.

"George." Higgins pointed behind the figure.

"Keep firm Henry." George hissed.

The figure moved and turned to face Pendrick. Pendrick hit the figure over the head. The figure stumbled and then fell flat on the ground. George and Higgins were shocked by this movement.

"What was that for?!" Higgins hissed at Pendrick.

"I thought you were in trouble!" Pendrick hissed back.

Higgins luckily had a torch on him and shined it onto the figure. The figure was hunched up but they could easily see who it was.

"Terrence Myers." George and Higgins sighed.

"Oh no!" Pendrick sighed as he bent down to see how Myers was.

Myers luckily got up from the ground. He didn't seem to be too badly injured but the others held him up.

"I'll have to report you." Myers snapped at Pendrick.

"Let's get him to the station." George suggested.

Higgins and Pendrick agreed as they all struggled to make their way back to the station. Myers was very tall which didn't make it easy to carry him. Myers didn't say anything and stayed quiet as they made their way along.

Sam sat down next to her father's bedside. He looked peaceful just laid there. A bit more than when he was asleep when he was on the sofa with her mother. After the few days they had just had it was to see him at rest!

"Sam…" Her father stirred.

"It's alright dad, I'm here." Sam held Murdoch's hand.

Murdoch moved a little to face her. He smiled weakly and she smiled back. It was good to see him awake. She was still thinking about George and Higgins but knew they were safe wherever they were.
