The sun was peeking at the horizon bringing a new morning to the citizens of Safe Haven. Kayla was busy packing her bags and stuffing her mouth with a slice of PBnJ simultaneously. Her mom saw this and was furious.
"Young lady, this isn't very ladylike of you to hold a sandwich in your mouth like that. At least put it on a plate dear." She advices her daughter.
"No can do mum! I need to hurry!" She says to her mom. Her dad got to work early so she needs to hurry to school as she needed to walk there.
"Okay-okay. Take it slow sweetie!" She says to her.
After packing up she and her mom were ready to leave the house. Her mother will be accompanying her to school since her dad was already at work.
When she opened the door, you can imagine how surprised she was to see Damian waiting for her at the sidewalk of her house.
"Ohh Damian" She screamed in glee as she held out her arm.
She ran and hugged him. "Kayla!!" He responded before being pushed back by her hug but managed to stabilise himself. Again, he was very surprised at her action. He just hug her even tighter. "Man, I could get used to this!" His mind was elated. At least she wasn't afraid of him and was willing to hug him.
"Urrhhhm" Her mom clears her throat at them walking down the porch of the house.
"Oh sorry". She lets him go off her hug.
"Mum, this is Damian! He's the one that walk me home yesterday!"
"Hello Mrs C, I'm Damian, Kayla's friend!" He never felt happy as the day he claims himself as her friend would come.
Kayla's mom just eyes him for a while.
"Soooo... you're the Damian that Kayla's been talking about!"
He felt embarrassed. He was expecting a warning not to stay near her daughter again but instead he got a warm smile from her mom.
"He's as nice as you told me sweetie. Lovely of you to accompany my daughter through the rain yesterday. I'm really grateful for your help!" She commends him on his help.
"Yea- Yes Ms C, no problem, it was my pleasure!" He answers.
"Well... since you are here, can I ask you to accompany my daughter to school? It would be wonderful!" She requests his help.
"Ummmm... sure Ms C, anything!" He says without noticing the wide smile forming on her mother's face.
"Come on Damian, let's go!" She was so elated at this moment and dragged him by the hand.
"Ahhh, bye Ms C" He says waving at her mom while being dragged away followed by Kayla's wave.
"Bye" Her mom shouts I'm the distance.
"Seems, there was nothing to worry about at all!" Her mom just shruggs her worries off thinking her daughter's happier now.
Kayla was dragging Damian much to his dismay. "Man! She got a tight grip! It hurts!" Her hand was wrapped around his arms strangling it.
"Umm.. Kayla?!" he catches her attention.
"Can, you stop like.. dragging me, it kinda hurts!" He reminds her of her brute strength.
"Ohh.. sorry.. just got excit.." She immediately closed her mouth.
"What?" Damian asks her.
"No-nothing!"
"Wait what? Was I this excited to see him? Why?" She kept thinking and it was distracting her. She didn't realise she was walking to a busy street.
"Kayla?" She didn't pay attention.
A bus was coming in full speed and was closing in on her.
"Kayla!!" He screamed and pulled her arm yanking her to the back. He managed to catch her mid-fall and hold her in his arms. His face inches from her.
Kayla snapped back into reality when she felt a pull on her arm. She felt backwards but was caught by something. She looked above and saw Damian's face inches above her looking at her. His eyes, it was red, it shone like a ruby, so sparkling. She began to blush when she realised he was holding her like that. Her cheeks felt heated.
She then squeeled and jumped off his arms. She then proceeded to look away covering her blushing face with her arms and ears folded.
He was surprised when she jumped away. He went to her and and tap her shoulder.
"Kayla, are you okay?" He was concerned on her strange behaviour.
"Im okay!" She immediately looked back at him after managing to suppress her blush.
"Now! Let's go. We wouldn't want to be late for school! Hehe!" She immediately changed the topic. "Calm down girl!" She reminds herself.
Damian oblivious to what's going on just followed her. He didn't even question why she acted like that. After a 10-minute walk trying to avoid his gaze, she finally arrived at the academy with him.
"Okay then, I'm off to my class now. See you later Dame!" She said before going straight to class. But after a while, she realised something, Damian was following her. She stops in her tracks and asked him. "Why are you following me?" She asks softly.
"Can't I follow someone I care about to her class?" He asks her back.
"C-c-c-careee?!!" Her face reddens immediately at the notion. She was frozen in place.
Damian walked up to her worrying about her. She was sweating and her forehead was hot.
"Kayla are you okay? You're sick or something? If so I could accompany yo-"
"Fine!!! Im fine!! Nothing to worry about. Ummm bye Damian!" She said running off.
"Ummm... bye?..." He says waving in the air.
"What the hell is going on?" He asks himself. He then proceeds to shrug it off and walked to his class.
"Uuuuuu, look at Mr Handsome! Finally got chance with her huh!" A voice called out to him. Damian instinctively looked back.
"Sahara! Addison!" He floats to them.
"Wow! She looks flustered earlier!" Addison adds at Sahara's remark.
"Flustered? Nahh.. She was probably sick or something. Anyway, we're just friends..for now at least!" He says back at them.
"Umm. hmmm." Sahara humms at his statement.
"You could say that again!" Addison agrees with Sahara.
"About what?" Damian asks without a clue to what's going on.
"You'll know when you're older!" Sahara jokes leaving the group to her class followed by Addison.
"Why the heck's everyone weird today? Hey!! Wait up!!" He proceeds to chase after them to class.
Meanwhile,
Kayla barges in the theater room.
"Kayla! You made it!" Jack waves from the stage.
Kayla then breaths in and tried to act normal.
"Kayla, you okay? You're sweating!" Jack asks.
"I'M OKAY! Nothing to worry about! She immediately dismisses the thought.
"Okayy????" Jack was confused. "Why is she acting like this! She isn't the one who usually gets flustered!"
"Hey.. Kayla!" It was Zill. Although he knows she would never forgive him but he tries to be polite.
"Hey Zill" Kayla tries to answer but while avoiding his eyes.
Jack saw this and thought "She's still ain't over it!" Jack sighs but hope she would get used to it in the near future.
After school,
The bell rang and some of the students proceeds to leave the class, leaving behind Kayla and the gang for their practice.
Just then, the door opened, revealing the other people involved in the performance. It was Sahara, Addison and...
"Urgghhh, Damian!" Zill scoffs. "Why's he here?" Zill turns his head to Jack.
"I dunno, but.. it can't be good! Let's just not pay any attention to him or he's gonna bother us." Jack advices.
"Ohohoh, I'm still waiting for a chance to smack him in the face after what he did!" Zill says holding his fists together.
Well the wait wasn't long, Damian snaps his finger and appears besides Kayla.
"THAT'S IT!" Zill tries to charge at him.
"Wowowow!" Sahara and Addison appeared in front of Zill blocking him.
"What you think you're doing there, huh?" Sahara scolds Zill.
"It's Damian, he's gonna bother Kayla!" Zill responds back.
"What'd you mean? Look at them!" Addison said pointing at the two.
"They're fine!" Addison said.
"No they're... not?" Zill begins questioning his mind. He thought he was hallucinating. Damian and Kayla are chatting and laughing together. Wait!
"Ummm... Jack? You're seeing what I'm seeing?" He says turning his head to Jack only to see him with his mouth gaping wide.
"Then, I assume you do!" "What the hell's going on!" His mind trying to figure out what exactly is happening.
Spam looks at Vanexxa, "Wow! Seems they're close now! Come on let's have a chat with them!" The two walking towards Damian and Kayla.
Jack and Zill still standing still baffled by this new development. "Nah! Something's wrong. I'm gonna talk to her!" Zill said walking towards them followed by Jack.
"Kayla! What is this!" Zill said pointing at the both of them.
"What is what Zill?" Kayla asks. Damian kept silent not wanting to disturb their conversation.
"With him!" He points at Damian. "Isn't he bothering you!"
Damian was about to burst telling him to shut the f*ck up but Kayla got there first.
"Urrghh, Zill! We broke up! What I do doesn't concern you anymore! And me and Damian both made up. That's it!" Kayla bursts.
"Made up?!! Just like that?!!" Zill asks again in malice.
"Yes!! Just like that! And if you're a nice person, you'll leave me be!" Kayla says, her body shrunk, feeling absolutely uneasy at this conversation.
"Whatever!" Zill scoffs and walks away.
Jack seeing this felt pity for his friend but what Kayla said does have a point. They weren't in a relationship anymore and how he broke her heart, he felt that Zill should give her some space. Still, this new development was weird.
"Sooo.. you and Damian... friends?!!" Jack asks feeling awkward about it all.
"Yup!" Damian replied earning a nod from Kayla.
"Umm sorry, if I missed something, but how did THIS came to be!" Jack asked.
"Well..." Kayla explains her experience yesterday.
Jack listening intently to Kayla's story. He suddenly bursts out laughing.
"Hahahaha, Damian... SINGING!!! You got to be kidding me!" Jack says wiping a tear from his eyes.
Damian and Kayla just looked at each other in confusion.
"Wait.. you're not!" Jack realised and stopped laughing. He clears his throat.
"Well, I have to say that, this, was surprising but I can't say that I'm not glad." Jack says. Damian eyebrows rosed marking his confusion.
"Well, you always bothered her so I'm not surprised that one day you would atone for it. It's just that, I thought it would be during your deathbed though!" Jack jokes.
"Hey, I maybe am a jackass but I'm not that bad of a douchebag!" Damian responded.
"Yeah sure!" Jack says rolling his eyes.
"Anyways, so we're friends now!" Kayla cuts them.
Suddenly they heard a crack above them. One of the lamps was swaying, the cable connection it to the ceiling was tearing apart! It broke off and fall at a high speed. It's anyone's guess who it was falling to..
Jack just sighs, "Of course!"
