This Is What Being Genin Is?
The night of passing was one if excitement for Sasuki. She was now a full fledged shinobi of Konoha. She would undertake missions and serve the village, just like Naruto has. Now would be the beginning of a ninja career where she'll pave her way in the world.
To make the Uchiha name proud and bring her former clan to glory. If only her and Naruto could be side by side...either way she'd do her best. The world isn't pretty and she's already seen Naruto face challenges that she didn't think possible. From fighting 100 head on by himself, to any other thing he's done that he hadn't spoke of.
She was sure that there were more skeletons in his closet...plenty more blood on his hands. What she didn't know was that his "Fox" identity in ANBU was gaining a lot of notoriety and was slowly making a name. That wasn't particularly good since it made him a target but all they knew was his alias. Not the kid behind the mask.
The enemies certainly would be more than annoyed to find that the ANBU causing so much trouble to them was only a 12 year old. Still, Naruto was becoming more and more of a force as he masters his techniques.
However tonight, tonight was about celebrating Sasuki becoming an official Genin. Now that she was in the ranks of the shinobi of Konoha. However, he felt bad for what was to come to her...the missions wouldn't be what she expected...he'd let her figure that out though.
Naruto took them to the house and immediately she had tackled him to the couch. "So this is what you want."
"Mmhmm. Been a while." After thirty minutes of their makeout session, a knock on the door interrupted them. "Just ignore it Naru-kun."
After the third set of knocks, Naruto got up and sighed. "Better check it...don't worry, we can continue later, ok?"
"Mmm fine!" Sasuki rolled her eyes as Naruto walked to the door.
When he opened the door, he saw Hiruzen, Yugao, Kakashi and a guy with a slight cough. "Hello Jiji, Ojisan, Yugao, and um...cougher?"
"Haha this is Hayate. My boyfriend." Yugao said holding his shoulder.
"Hmm. Pleased to meet you, Hayate." They shook hands and Naruto looked to them all. "So, what's up?"
"Well we wanted to congratulate Sasuki, and see if you guys wanted to get some dinner." Hiruzen said.
"Hmmm, she is definitely going to be a little annoyed. But I don't mind, come on in!"
They all started walking in but Hayate remained outside. "Something wrong, Hayate?"
"No, Naruto. Just good to see you. I haven't seen you since you were born. Me and three others were a part of the Hokage guard during your father's rein"
"I see. You feel bad?" Hayate nodded "Don't. Everything has a reason right? I'd like to hear stories you have of my father."
"Sure thing."
They joined the others and Naruto almost laughed when he met eyes with Sasuki. She was definitely not too happy but was happy seeing them. They all ate and caught up while telling jokes. Everyone died in laughter when Naruto showed the photos he got of Sasuki and her team during the test, in the classroom, and the introductions. Sasuki was livid but after a while, laughed too.
The next day would start their training and Naruto would also get his squad now. He was excited and looked forward to being a Captain of his own squad. Sasuki was a little jealous that Naruto was already moving up in the ranks and getting farther ahead, but she was proud of him and happy that he was doing well.
"Who will my squad consist of?"
"Well Naruto-kun, that is decided by the Commander, but I can tell you that your friend Hinto will be there. Im sure you've known."
"Yeah, he told me that he planned to transfer over when I officially made Captain."
"Dang...you realise that you're also now the youngest ANBU Captain ever right?" Yugao said
"Just how many unbreakable records do you plan on making?" Kakashi said
"Well, the records I've broken were all thought to be unbreakable...I did it anyways...I'm sure someone else will come along to do it too."
"Not quite Naruto-kun. Your speed will most likely never be matched...atleast in the long term. I'm sure someone meet it but only in spurts, eventually. Kind of like when you first did the Shunshin, you couldn't use it in combat...your speed is the same. No one can ever hope to reach your true top speed. Mainly because of your eyes, you can go that fast without being blind." Hiruzen said, they all nodded
"Speaking of the Shunshin...I don't see anyone ever being more effective in it." Kakashi said
"They said the same about Nii-san."
"Yes but even he couldn't turn it into true teleportation...i believe you've reached the peak of that technique. There are no other uses ways to progress further." Kakashi said to which they all agreed.
"On top of that, no one can beat you ANBU records because you were a special case. You have to be Chunin before joining. But you left the academy early, joined immediately and finished training at 11, then Captain at 12. That's when you're supposed to be made Genin." Yugao said.
It was very much true, no one would ever be able to reach his rank at his age ever again, let alone be younger. There is still many that question his becoming Captain at so young, but they can't deny his skill. Especially since the only ANBU that can beat him is Wolf. Naruto never beat him. Aside from him, only Hiruzen, the Sannin...well two of them atleast, could beat him.
Kakashi would give a really strong fight, win a few but that's due to experience and having fought in a war. Hinto is the same, aside from the war, and he was a Hyuga prodigy...just not in the eyes of the clan. Yugao put a strong fight in kenjutsu but that was all. For the most part his skill was at a level no ANBU had, no normal shinobi in the village could hope to best him, since ANBU were the best of the village.
If only one ANBU can beat him...effortlessly at that...no normal shinobi in Konoha stood a chance. He thought Guy would be a good fight but hadn't gotten around to it.
"Guys this is Sasuki-chan's night. I'm flattered that you guys think so highly of me, but we're here to celebrate Sasuki joining the shinobi ranks." Naruto did a single armed hug and rubbed her arm.
"You're right. Sasuki, are you excited?" Hiruzen asked
"I am. To finally be a ninja is exciting."
"Just becareful." Naruto said. Hiruzen, Yugao, and Kakashi knew what was coming but to everyone else, they didn't know.
"I will. You know me."
"Yes. Yes I do. So becareful." They all laughed and continued talking with one another for a few more hours until they decided it was time to go.
3 Days Later
"Naruto. Today I want you to fight a couple people."
"You mean I don't have to be tortured by you, Commander Wolf? WHO IS IT?!"
"Haha, that's for later little Fox. For now you'll fight Kurenai Yuhi, Asuma Sarutobi, Maito Guy, and then Kakashi Hatake. After all that you'll fight me last."
"Hmmm...ok. So you're going to exhaust me...then fight me...you worried I'll ruin your undefeated record?"
"In your dreams, Naruto. This is a test to see your current level."
"Hmmm. Alright. Are there any handicaps for me?"
"No. Just win...or I'll destroy you."
Naruto nodded and began stretching a bit. This should be a rather smooth first two fights. A good warm up. The fight against Guy should be a little annoying but in the end, an opponent who can only do taijutsu shouldn't be too bad. Kakashi...that would be a while. Regardless, Asuma was a good fighter but wasn't too much of a worry, Kurenai was a genjutsu specialist...should be fun.
"Maybe I can get a few genjutsu off of her...that and show her how futile her efforts are..." Naruto smirked as he got ready. After a few minutes, the four began walking into the clearing.
Naruto wasn't in his ANBU gear, just the pants and boots. Aside from that he wore a black hoodie that had a strip of tape at the wrist and halfway up the forearm to keep the sleeve in place. The cuff covered half his thumb and to his pinky's knuckle. He still carried his tanto and had his kunai/shuriken pouches on his legs.
The four came and they all greeted eachother. Only two had known his skill, they were Asuma and Kakashi. Asuma just because Hiruzen always spoke of Naruto with praise. He was curious as to why his father always spoke of Naruto that way, today he'd find out for sure. Guy had some idea from watching his spar against Sasuki but that was all. Kurenai was oblivious and had developed some genjutsu strategies...
"Alright, thank you for coming. As I told Naruto here, the first fight will be with Kurenai, then Asuma, then Guy, and lastly Kakashi before me. Any questions?"
"Any handicaps?" Kakashi asked
"Nope. You may go all out...in that regard, so will Naruto. Do your best to win at all costs." Wolf said seriously. The four gave a nod but Kurenai somewhat doubted Naruto's ability. They were all Jonin, he was 12...
"Well Kurenai, Naruto, stay here and begin once we get away to view safely." They gave Wolf a nod and awaited.
"So Kurenai-san, how's it going?"
"Hmmm, I'm fine Naruto. You do realise that we're Jonin...do you think you can take us on?" Naruto didn't respond with words, instead he activated the 3 tomoe sharingan and smirked. "So you really are the youngest to awaken it."
"What do you know about me, Kurenai-san? Be honest."
"Mmm, that you are confirmed to be the youngest to awaken the Sharingan, you're the Kyubi Jinchuriki, and use Fire Style Techniques like your clan."
"Ah...that's just the tip of the iceberg, Kurenai-san. Be prepared."
"I could say the same to you..." She stood behind him with a kunai to his throat. The Kurenai in front of him shimmered away.
"Ah nice...let me guess, you prepared the genjutsu as they left and activated it once they were gone. Impressive idea...however."
Naruto brought his hand up to his eye level then point two fingers to his right. The Naruto in front of her dispersed into crows and when she looked over, Naruto stood there.
"You use genjutsu too?"
"I don't want her knowing just yet..." Naruto shook his head "Nope, it's a special clone of mine."
She didn't think much of it but felt that there was more than he was letting on. She got kunai and threw them at him with great speed. Naruto easily blocked two away and caught the last three.
"Is this all that you got? Genjutsu and Shurikenjutsu?"
"My genjutsu isn't to be underestimated."
"Oh? Show me then!"
"You asked for it..." Kurenai gathered a large amount of chakra and disappeared. Naruto smirked and could clearly see what she was doing thanks to his sharingan but let it play out. This was about to be fun. The reaction of the others too should be funny.
Suddenly a tree formed behind Naruto and caught him. He couldn't move, she suddenly began coming out of the tree with a kunai in hand.
"This is 'Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death' Its over Naruto. Yield."
Naruto looked over his shoulder and made eye contact. "Oh? Is it now?" Suddenly her world flipped. No longer Naruto was trapped in the tree...no it was her! She was caught and couldn't move. She was at his mercy.
Spectators
"Looks like its over." Asuma said
"Yes...for her." Wolf said
"What do you mean?" Guy asked. He knew very well Kurenai's skill in genjutsu and this was practically a guaranteed win.
"You'll see...he's about to use a technique Shisui Uchiha taught Itachi, who in turn taught him."
"How do you know Itachi taught him that technique..." Kakashi asked Wolf
Wolf smiled slightly under his mask. They couldn't see but if they could, it would seem like he was reminiscent of something. "I have my ways."
They watched as Naruto made eye contact with her and said that one line that made Guy and Asuma question their previous thoughts. "Well he did it...how will she get out?" Kakashi said
"She has ways to break genjutsu without chakra." Asuma said still believing Kurenai will win. However more and more the fight went, he doubted it.
Naruto Vs Kurenai
"What? How?" Kurenai asked. She was a little panicked in being in such a situation out of nowhere.
"You see, Kurenai-san? My genjutsu prowess surpasses that of the likes of Shisui Uchiha...you can't win with Genjutsu alone." Naruto was about to slit her throat when she bit her lip and blood came out. She dodged as kunai and shuriken came at her.
"I see...what else can you do?"
"This..." Naruto dispersed in crows and she saw red for the skies and black as the floor.
"What the?"
"I must admit. I've never seen anyone use that tactic to breaking Genjutsu..."
"What Genjutsu is this? I've never seen or experienced this before."
"Just a small hint as to what my Sharingan's Genjutsu capabilities are. There's so much more that I can do...If I wanted, I could kill you right now...and you'd never be able to break it."
"How are you so sure?"
"Because your mind makes it real...you would have 5 seconds to break it...but I developed a way around it. I'd like to show a Genjutsu specialist like yourself my Genjutsu...but I haven't found a way to make it not kill yet."
Kurenai began walking around this new world, trying to experience it. "Do you think this is possible without the Sharingan?"
"Hmmm...I'm sure you could learn a way...it would be harder for you since you can't cast Genjutsu with your eyes...I also wonder if it's possible to learn how to do that as well. I could try teaching you one day, if you like."
"Yes, I would like that." She gave a nod and smiled. Kurenai loved learning new Genjutsu. It was a dream to master all of the field. She was extremely deadly in the field, she just had a bad match-up having to face Naruto. Even Sasuki would be susceptible to her Genjutsu.
"Alright. I'll look within my schedule and find a time. But you're about to wake up in Asuma-san's arms right now."
"Huh?"
"You got knocked out during this and he came to get you...you're welcome." He smiled as she blushed heavily. He apparently knew of their secret relationship.
Kurenai woke up and saw Asuma carrying her to the designated viewing area. She smiled and just relaxed a bit. "What happened?"
"After he flipped your Genjutsu somehow, he caught you in one of his own which knocked you out instantly."
"Instantly? But we had a conversation..."
"I don't know. I guess he can manipulate your perception of time within his Genjutsus."
"Becareful, Asuma...he's stronger than he gives off. Try not lingering in his eyes, that's how he got me."
Asuma gave a nod and put her down gently. He made his way to Naruto and sighed. This wouldn't be as easy as with his own Genin...nowhere near.
"Well, my dad always talks about you...let's see what you're made of."
Naruto smirked and considered how to go about this. He could go the Genjutsu route, use Ninjutsu, Kenjutsu...just what to do? Deciding to allow Asuma take the lead, he waited.
Asuma took out two chakra conductive daggers that had a hand guard to be like brass knuckles, however they came to points and were just as sharp as the blade. He began to infuse the daggers with his Chakra and they glowed blue. Naruto didn't hear a hum so it wasn't lightning. That had been unpleasant against Sasuki.
They charged into an attack and clashed dagger to kunai. The kunai was cut in half, it felt like deja vu...however this time, he could see and react, so Naruto spun to his left and using the broken kunai, jabbed it into Asuma's back. It didn't puerce but it definitely hurt a lot.
"Huh, I didn't see that coming." Asuma grunted from the pain but was otherwise alright.
"What type of chakra do you use? It wasn't lightning, there's no hum, but it was sharp."
"It's wind."
"Oh, I have that too...had no one to teach me though...'Fire Style: Great Dragon Flame Bomb Jutsu'." Three dragons charged at Asume chasing him around until they hit him, blowing up in a big ball of fire. When the fire disappeared, a burnt log remained.
Naruto looked around and saw a slightly burned Asuma. Apparently he didn't substitute in time and felt some of it. Asuma got up from kneeling and caught his breath. Immediately after standing, his eyes widened.
"Fire Style: Great Dragon Flame Jutsu" Naruto gathered one sign and blew out a large dragon that charged right at Asuma. There wasn't an easy escape since the dragon in a way had a mind of its own. It would chase him no matter where he moved. He would either have to substitute or shunshin.
The issue was that Naruto would see where he shunshined to. Asuma wasn't anywhere near as fast as Naruto so it would appear slow to him, on top of that, the Sharingan would track him. Substitution would be the best bet, he just had to make sure he timed it right. Just as the dragon was about to hit and he was going to substitute, it vanished, suddenly he felt a piercing sensation in his right shoulder. He looked down and saw Naruto's tanto sticking out of it.
"H-How?" Asuma grunted in pain and Naruto kicked his knee in so that he collapsed to his knees.
"You were put in my genjutsu after the explosion of fire...you locked eyes with me and I made you see an attack that was never coming."
"I *cough* see...well, you win..."
Naruto helped him up and Kurenai came for him. When they left, Guy stood behind him ready to go. He was bouncing on his feet as he had taken off his weights. With a thunderous boom, the clearing shook and they all sweat dropped. Perhaps Guy was a little excessive with the weight...regardless...he wasn't faster than Naruto, not in his base form atleast.
He charged at Naruto and threw a punch, it Naruto in the chest and Naruto began falling back. It looked like he tried to grab Guy but apparently slipped and couldn't. He rolled into backflip and stood with a smirk.
Spectators
"Well it's over." Wolf said
"Huh? How? They literally just started." Kurenai said
"Look at Guy's arm..." Kakashi said.
They all looked and saw a seal on it...what kind of seal was this? They hadn't seen it before. Was it chakra consuming? No, Guy didn't really use chakra, that'd be pointless. It was obviously no barrier...then a flash of black with hints of red made Kurenai and Asuma's jaw to drop.
Naruto vs Guy
Naruto smirked and Guy looked confused. He was wondering why Naruto looked as if he was sure he won. They just started so what was he thinking?
"It's over. Guy."
"What do you-" A flash of black and red was all he saw before Naruto kicked him in the face sending him flying back. Another flash and Naruto was behind him kicking him again. Naruto made 3 shadow clones and they all began teleporting back and forth, kicking him around like a pinball.
He finally let Guy collapse to the ground and he was breathing heavy from the damage he sustained. Never had he fought in such a one sided battle like this. Naruto let him get the first hit and afterwards it was over. No matter where Guy went, how fast he moved, Naruto could easily teleport to him like nothing.
"I never thought you'd learn the Yondaime's technique. *cough* Well...you've marked me...as much as I would like to keep fighting...I've lost." Guy bowed and Naruto returned the gesture.
Spectators
"Holy shit...he just beat three of us like it was nothing...is anyone a match for him?" Kurenai said
"Well...Wolf is undefeated against him...I can put up a good fight. But he wins in the end." Kakashi said
"Wait. Wolf is undefeated?" Asuma said
Wolf just gave a nod and a slight smile that they couldn't see. "I wonder for how much longer though...he's more talented than I was."
"Who else actually stands a chance in the village?" Kurenai said
"Hmmm...Sandaime-sama, Jiraiya-sama, Orochimaru maybe, and ofcourse Commander Wolf. Aside from that there are a few that can put up a solid fight." Kakashi said.
"Well, Kakashi, it's your turn to go out." Wolf said
This was the fight he was waiting to watch. His own being the most anticipated but he couldn't really watch...unless he used the help of a certain bird.
Naruto stood waiting for Kakashi. Up to this point, the fights had been straight forward. He was trying to act nonchalant but he was feeling the effects of his recent use of the Hiraishin...he shouldn't have involved clones yet.
"I can tell that last fight took a number from you. Is it enough though?" Kakashi thought as he walked to the clearing. He knew Naruto's Genjutsu was one of his biggest threats, so he lift his headband to show his Sharingan. Closing his right eye, he should now know when he's been caught or when Naruto plans to cast any.
This was an imperfect tactic since Naruto could still trap him, it just gave a fighting chance. Despite knowing the Hiraishin, he wasn't at the level of Minato's use, and preferred Genjutsu, or the Teleportation Jutsu. Kakashi feared the day when Naruto implements all 3 techniques together.
"Are you ready, Ojisan?"
"At any time, Naruto."
The two looked at eachother, gaging an opening. Neither one wanted to make the first mistake. Knowing Naruto was patient, and that the longer they dragged it out, the more it benefited Naruto, Kakashi charged at high-speed. Naruto wanted to regain his energy, and didn't have to worry of his Chakra depleting from the sharingan.
Kakashi came at Naruto trying to punch him square in the head. It was sidestepped which Kakashi followed with a spinning kick which nearly landed. He went for a second kick using his left foot which was caught, he had taken kunai out and flung them from close range, nearly getting Naruto but he dodged last second.
Naruto pushed him back, and jumped back himself. Doing a few handsigns he called out "Lightning Style: Lightning Dragon Jutsu" From his arms and hands, lightning circled around then gathered to form a dragon. Kakashi not having wind affinity couldn't counter. Lightning techniques were too fast to straight up dodge, no matter what, you always caught some sort of damage or effect.
Having one option, Kakashi did 5 handsigns quickly and called "Raikiri!". The plan was to overpower Naruto's jutsu with his own. Raikiri, the technique that he used to cut lightning in half...now he'd find out if it could best a lightning dragon.
It wouldn't be easy since Naruto's lightning affinity was really strong...especially when he tapped into the Mangekyo/Eternal Mangekyo, then his lightning affinity reached levels no man should ever reach. But the Raikiri has already proven to slice natural lightning...lightning in its purest form...no amount of chakra truly matches an elements pure form.
Spectators
"What's he doing? He needs to get out of there!" Kurenai said
"No...it's futile, we already have seen his techniques follow a target, especially within the dragon form...lightning is the fastest...dodging would never work." Asuma said
"Don't worry. He's about to use 'Raikiri', it cut a true lightning bolt in half...this will atleast save him." Guy said
"You don't think it'll win the battle between jutsu based on what you said?" Asuma said
"I doubt it...For one, Naruto's chakra is leagues higher than anybody's here...that and his affinity to the element is greater than Kakashi's..." Guy said
They could only nod. Naruto's chakra reserves alone could allow him to "waste" as much as he'd like on a jutsu to strengthen and empower his jutsus. Naruto though wanted efficiency so it was rare that he would go over what was needed. Then there was his affinity. If two jutsu clash, the stronger of the jutsu wins, this is also determined by one's affinity. A technique jutsu could be technically weaker but if that person had a stronger affinity, it would at the least cancel the two jutsus out.
In this scenario, Kakashi's best hope was to cancel Naruto's lightning dragon out...the issue came if Naruto poured more chakra into it. Kakashi could only pour so much otherwise, it would be too costing on his reserves...even if he canceled it out, there would most likely be a small explosion and dispersion of electricity. That would not be a pleasant feeling.
"Don't doubt Kakashi so much. He isn't the top Jonin of Konoha for nothing." Wolf said
Naruto vs Kakashi
Kakashi charged the dragon head on and attacked with his Raikiri. He didn't feel Naruto pouring in more chakra which he was thankful for. If he was an enemy, he knew Naruto would put more chakra without hesitation. However this was just a spar. Naruto would never do anything that would kill another in a spar.
Kakashi thrust his hand forward and the two jutsu clashed. It was a standstill for a bit and a bright light shined through the clearing. A shockwave was felt by everyone and when they looked back, both Kakashi and Naruto had been pushed back. However Naruto looked fine since his jutsu traveled rather than be attached to him. Kakashi's right arm was smoking and his hand had been burnt.
Kakashi panted but was otherwise ok. He made a fist with the hand a felt that he still had feeling. That was good.
"I'm impressed, Ojisan. I wasn't sure if your Raikiri could take on the Lightning Dragon at it's base form."
"That's the base?"
"Yes. There's many variations that I can use...they aren't completely mastered but they're on their way."
Kakashi gave a nod. The jutsus were definitely mastered, he just knew that to Naruto, mastery meant being able to do with a single, to no handsigns.
They got back into the fight with Kakashi taking out a kunai with Naruto reciprocating. They charged and clashed in the center, Naruto smirked and dispersed in crows reforming behind him. Kakashi blocked a slash but was caught off guard when Naruto kicked him in the back.
"Damn. I thought it was Genjutsu."
"Sort of was..." Naruto threw the kunai which Kakashi dodged by moving his head, but his sharingan noticed the seal.
"Shit..." was all Kakashi said before a flash and he was out cold.
Everyone gathered at Naruto and was surprised at how well he handled them. They definitely would never underestimate the kid again and wondered just how much more powerful he is since its clear that he'd held back. The question was how much.
"Well little Fox, let's see what you've got now." Wolf said as he cracked his neck and prepared.
"Why do you call him little Fox?" Kurenai asked.
"Oh...simple...He's Jinchuriki of Kyubi and he's little." Wolf said with amusement as their faces changed to that of disbelief.
Naruto gave a nod. There was no smirk, no slight cockyness, no sign that he was confident in an expected win. Even with Kakashi atleast, he knew he'd win, it was just a matter of time. This time...not so much.
To everyone's surprise, Sasuki actually showed up. They were at a public training ground but didn't think anyone would be coming. Kakashi woke up and realized the time. His squad would be coming soon and Sasuki was early. Naruto didn't notice since his back was toward them and his entire focus was on Wolf.
"So you all look like you've been put through the ringer..." Sasuki said
"Yeah...Naruto just beat us all without breaking a sweat." Asuma said
"Haha yeah...that's my Naru...did you guys all underestimate him?"
"Yup." Kurenai said
"Yeah...big mistake. He doesn't particularly take it well but if you guys didn't out right express your doubts to him then you guys would be fine."
"What do you mean?" Kurenai said.
"Well he would have made it hell for you in order to show how wrong you were. I'm guessing that he just ended things swiftly."
"Hmm you know quite a lot. How skilled is he truly?"
"Hahaha yes, I know a lot because we live together and we used to train daily together. As for his skill...well I would say he's of the best...but I'm interested in seeing how he fairs against his Commander. I've never seen them fight but when they do, its obvious that he lost...no one beats him...I can't wait to see this!"
"His Commander?" Kurenai said
"Oh right...be began wearing the hoodie now...well he's an ANBU. The youngest ever."
"Don't forget being the youngest Captain as well." Asuma chimed in.
"You know?" Sasuki asked
"Well my dad is the Hokage..."
"Right."
"Isn't his status supposed to be secret?" Kurenai said
"Well not necessarily. His alias yes...but we all knew Kakashi, Tenzo, Yugao and others...besides what's the point of keeping it quiet when their tattoo gives it away. The only secretive thing is their identity within the mask. Like Commander Wolf, none of us know who that is...but I'm sure if he took off the mask we would. Tying an ANBU to their identities is the risk." Asuma said
"Yeah...even i don't know who Naru is with the mask on." Sasuki said, she still had a smile but you could tell that she wanted to know.
Naruto vs Commander Wolf
"For your entire duration in the force, I've remained undefeated. Do you think you can change that today?"
"I believe that I'll surpass even you, eventually. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day, I will."
"Lets see what you've got Naruto."
Taking this absolutely serious from the start, Naruto activated his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and took out several kunai. Debating on the best plan to attack. He made his choice and threw the kunai all over the clearing that they stood. There were gaps of 10 feet between each.
"Hmmm, so you plan to rely on the Hiraishin."
"Not quite...'Teleportation Jutsu'..." 12 afterimage clones appeared and Naruto was ready.
"So you're going to combine both the Hiraishin with the advanced Shunshin...I wonder if your clones work like shadowclones and can use the Hiraishin seals as well? Then again it doesn't matter...you could teleport between them at will so when I do catch you, you'll be switched with one of the clones rendering the attack useless. Tricky, but there is no perfect technique...there's always a weakness and sadly for you. I know all of yours. Naruto-kun" Wolf thought as he took out his tanto and took a defensive stance.
Everyone watched in anticipation. Naruto was taking this fight seriously and looked like he was going all out. The clones and he all started moving around through the Shunshin to confuse Wolf. They began to prepare an attack, the real Naruto had the briefest of hesitations, not noticeable to anyone...but Wolf. Wolf could always see through Naruto and he never understood why.
It would seem like Wolf had trained Naruto for years and known him for years. The level at which he could counter and predict Naruto were just too perfect. Naruto chalked it up to him being a Commander of the ANBU and as such, had that skill...
Wolf stared the real Naruto down the entire time. This proved to him that his distraction wasn't working. He'd have to attack head on since there was no distracting Wolf apparently.
"One of these days, I'll figure out how he always sees through me...This is about to suck..."Naruto and every clone shunshined at the same exact time, but before reappearing, in the brief moment of "invisibility" they all used the Hiraishin together making a bright flash in the clearing blinding everyone. When the light died down, they saw Naruto and his 12 clones with their swords through Wolf. After a cough from Wolf he laughed.
"That was good..." Everyone looked intently at the scene. Rather than blood dripping, bits of flames could be seen. "But not good enough!" Wolf blew up in a ball of fire.
Naruto teleported away and appeared 30 ft away from the place he was. Panting from the strain of having done the combination of the Shunshin with the Hiraishin with all the clones of the Shunshin at the same time.
"So...you switched with a fire clone. How did I not see it?"
"That is for me to know...and you to find out." Wolf said as under the mask he had a small smile and his eyes squinted slightly as if strained in some way before reopening.
Naruto stood straight and prepared a genjutsu that would surely give him a win..."I wouldn't use that genjutsu if I were you. It'd only waste chakra."
"What do you mean?"
"Come on Naruto. Don't play that game. I know you were going to 'blind' me. It won't work."
"How'd you know?"
"You're getting desperate to find an edge. There is only one Genjutu that you possess that actually is a threat to me...you won't ever use it though...not that I'm trying to get you to but we both know why you won't."
"What if I told you that there is one more that I've aquired..."
"Aquired? You couldn't have..." Wolf dropped his stance "It's not possible...is it?"
"I won't use it...but it's time to go all in."
Spectators
"The Commander really knows Naruto like the back of his hand." Asuma said
"It doesn't make sense but it's how he's never lost. He knows all of Naruto's tells and weaknesses." Kakashi said
"The only way someone could be that way was either by being the person who trained someone personally or...Sharingan." Kurenai said, however those two statements seemed invalid for obvious reason. His teacher his whole life was mostly Shisui but he is dead. Then there's only two known Sharingan users in the village...
"Whatever it is. I've never seen Naru like this. His seemingly never ending calmness isn't present. I wouldn't say he's desperate but its like he questions himself with every move." Sasuki said after being quiet the whole time. Watching Naruto being countered so easily was extremely odd.
Naruto vs Wolf
Storm clouds gathered and red lightning bounced around Naruto's body. He settled down into a slight crouch and took out his tanto.
"Ah, you finally use your ability on me...this should be interesting."
Naruto remained silent and focused. This was the only thing that Wolf didn't fully know the limits of. He began gathering large amounts of lightning from the clouds and formed a large dragon that he stood on top of.
"Well that is interesting." Wolf said aloud as he watched Naruto standing on top of a red lightning dragon. "I wonder if water jutsus would effect him but given that it rains when he uses this technique it probably wouldn't. Perhaps the only true counter is wind but it would need far more chakra than normal since it isn't a normal chakra technique...I have an idea."Naruto and the dragon began coming at Wolf. Wolf stood and made a few handsigns "Fire Style: Fire Dragon". Once Wolf created the weaker version of Naruto's use of it, he jumped back and braced himself. Naruto's eyes widened and realised the plan. This was going to get painful.
Spectators
"Huh...why didn't I think of that?" Kakashi said
"What do you mean?" Kurenai said
"Well for one, I wouldn't have had to scorch my arm. I tried countering his Lightning Dragon with Raikiri. Well it would have been easier to disrupt it with fire."
"That's right! If there's in imbalance in the two, the result is-" Sasuki said as she put together where Kakashi was headed. It was something she had realized back when Naruto was messing with trying to combine the two elements and it resulted in a large crater.
BOOM!
Naruto vs Wolf
Naruto was sent flying into the air with smoke coming from him as he crashed into the ground coughing roughly. Blood was coughed up as he rolled over to his stomach and leaned on his forearms to try to stay up. It was getting hard to stay up. His own red lightning was far more powerful and as close to the power of true pure lightning that you could get.
Having it quite literally blow up in his face was excruciating beyond any pain he's felt...well aside from Susanoo. If it were a normal lightning dragon, he'd have recovered easily but this was to a different level. This lighting is 100 times stronger than average lightning chakra.
"Ah, Dammit!" Naruto coughed more and slowly stood again. His senses started screaming at him and on instinct he quickly activated his Susanoo and just then the a clang was heard and Wolf stood there having struck the Susanoo.
"Even in pain and of bad condition, you remain focused on battle. Very good little Naruto. How about we call it for today."
"What *cough* do you mean? I can keep-" Naruto dropped to a knee and nodded reluctantly to calling the fight. "You know something, Commander? I've always wondered why you refer and speak to me as if you've known me for so long. You're the only one who can counter me so effortlessly. Why is that?"
"There is many things that you do not know. Many more that you will probably never know." Wolf said as he helped Naruto stand back up.
"You know? *cough* You speak a lot like how...well that doesn't matter. Guess I couldn't beat you yet."
"Well. Were you ever able to beat Shisui?"
"What do you think?"
"Then you'll never beat me" Wolf started laughing a little bit.
"We'll see about that. However you know a lot about him..."
"We were ANBU together..."
Naruto just nodded at that. It made sense. This man was the Commander of ANBU so it would only be natural for them to have met.
"Good. He still doesn't know. I'll have to be more careful." They began walking to where everyone had been watching. Naruto was leaning on Wolf with an arm over his shoulder as he was pretty banged up from that last attack being countered. He noticed that Sasuki was among the spectators and was confused until he remembered that she had training today. The fights must have lasted longer than he'd expected.
"Damn, Naru, I've never seen anyone just have an answer to everything you did."
"I'm not untouchable Sasuki-chan. I too have my weaknesses and every ability or jutsu I possess still can be countered or exploited in some way."
"Yeah. But its hard to imagine you actually losing."
"Even the 'unbeatable' is beatable...There is no perfect Jutsu, no perfect Shinobi...Nii-san taught me that and its why I work to be better." Naruto smiled at her. "Its mainly to protect you."
"Well we're off. He has to go meet his squad in a couple hours." Wolf said before disappearing with Naruto.
"Yeah, we should get going to our squads." Kurenai said before grabbing Asuma and disappearing as well.
Guy left but a few seconds after the others. Now Kakashi remained with Sasuki who was pretty much holding in her laughter at how all of them had just lost to Naruto. It had to hurt those three's pride to lose to a kid.
"Well Sensei, how did you fair?"
"I did better than before and far better than them. But I lost once he used Hiraishin."
"I know! He was already the fastest! Now instant teleportation?! It isn't fair!" Sasuki said while she laughed.
"You know? If anyone is to ever catch up to him and be a close second. I'd gave to say it would be you."
"You think so, Sensei?"
Kakashi nodded "Ofcourse. You two train together all the time. Keep that up and you'll improve at a fast rate. Remember how fast you got stronger during the time you had together before he became an ANBU?"
Sasuki nodded in understanding. She had drastically gotten stronger while living and training with Naruto. It was like how Naruto got so strong too. Having faced someone "unbeatable" for his entire childhood allowed him to fight anyone around his age as if they were nothing. As he got older the people he trained against were all elite so it was only natural that to anyone other than them, that they had no chance.
It's a like racing. If you run against people slower than you, yeah you'll surely win but you don't get better, you're not getting faster. But if you race someone that you know you can't beat, that's when your best comes out. You run harder and faster than you would normally. That's when you grow and get better.
After a little wait, Kiba and Sakura both arrived to the training ground. They're training was mostly on chakra control and taijutsu. Sasuki trained with them even though she was far better than them at it. Chakra control could always improve and she usually tried making a challenge in order to make it harder.
They would begin ninjutsu but not until Kakashi was satisfied in their ability to control their chakra. If they couldn't control it, they could kill themselves on accident.
"When are we taking a mission already?" Kiba shouted from the tree as they all were on different ones.
"Hmmm. When you prove capable." Kakashi said while he was reading. Currently it was a really good part and didn't want to be interrupted.
"Rrrrg I swear you're holding us back!" Kiba pointed a finger at Kakashi and actually got him to glance from his book.
"Kiba...in what world do you believe to be better than me, to accuse me of holding you back? If anything...it is you who's holding Sasuki back."
"What did you say?!" Kiba jumped down and walked to Kakashi
"Hard of hearing? Thats a first from the Inuzuka clan! Your clan's renowned for your smell and hearing."
Kiba threw a punch at Kakashi which he just lazily spun around his arm and kicked him in the back making Kiba face plant. Sakura laughed but was quickly shut up when Kakashi glanced her way. She was the weakest of the squad and currently served no role really...Kiba was atleast decent. His clan were mainly taijutsu and tracking specialists. Even their dog companions fought well and the duo of companion and master were fierce since they worked in perfect unison together.
"If you guys can last 10 minutes running up and down a tree nonstop then we will take a mission." Kakashi said as he layed down with a rock as a pillow.
The three went back to training while Kiba and Sakura were now extremely motivated and were pushing themselves, Sasuki just jumped between two trees to go up and down. After about a few hours they had finally accomplished the goal and were cheering.
"Good work. Now are you too tired, or do you want to take your first mission now?"
"LET'S GO!"
"We're ready Kakashi-sensei."
"I've been ready..."
"Alright let's go to the mission room and see what Sandaime-sama gives us." Kakashi wasn't looking forward to this. It would be really boring but he was also excited to see their reactions to how being a Genin is.
Just because they were now ninja didn't mean it would be extremely cool. No. The reality was that as Genin, you're paid to do chores such as cleaning, labor, and other miscellaneous tasks. The "cool" side to being ninja often results in the death of a Genin when they come across that aspect.
The D-Rank missions were to ease a Genin into the ninja world while helping them build teamwork. This also served to help train in some of their skills while also letting the Chunin and Jonin stay away from doing that boring crap. So sending the young ones instead was their way of freeing the others from the tasks. Once upon a time everyone still had to do D-Ranks
"Ah welcome Kakashi. Your team ready for their first mission?"
"Hai, Sandaime-sama. Team 7 is reporting for their first mission."
"Hmm. We have capturing Tora-"
"A capture mission! Say no more! We are on it!" Kiba said cutting the Hiruzen off.
Kakashi sweat dropped at Kiba's antics and his choice. The stupid capturing Tora mission. Just how the hell was Tora still alive anymore...well their reactions were about to be 100 times funnier now.
"Ok...well you'll find Tora since be her being a dull orange and has a red ribbon by the ear."
"We are on the case!" Kiba said as he ran out the room. A few seconds later he came back in. "Uh...where are we headed Kakashi-sensei?" Kakashi face palmed and Sasuki shook her head in disappointment of her teammate.
"YOU MORON! HAD YOU STAYED, KAKASHI-SENSEI WOULD HAVE TOLD US!" Sakura said as she hit Kiba upside the head.
"Right...well we will be heading to the east side of the square...here's an earpiece for us to communicate our approach and capture."
3 Hours Later
"Do you have visual on the target?" Kakashi said speaking through his headset
"Affirmative." Sasuki said she was in a tree 10 feet away above Tora
"Can you confirm the red ribbon by the left ear and the dull orange?" Kakashi said
"Confirmed." Sasuki said
"Kiba, Sakura what's your status?" Kakashi said
"Ready, Kakashi-sensei." Sakura said, she was in a bush 7ft away from Tora to the right.
"Kakashi-sensei, the target has a clever transformation. Turning into an animal is smart...however why a cat." Kiba said. He groaned since he knew Akamaru wasn't a fan of cats, neither was he really but not nearly as bad as Akamaru.
Kakashi was holding in the laughter. The squad was about to learn real soon that there's a reason why D-Ranks are used as punishment to Chunin and up. Aside from being the lowest paying missions, they were boring and no one liked them...unless you were a ninja just for title rather than duty to country.
"Ok...wait...wait for it...GO! GO NOW!" Kakashi said and upon his order The three Genin jumped out.
Kiba was the closest and pounced on Tora, instantly regretting it. Tora was clawing and beating the crap out of Kiba. Kiba struggled fiercely but managed to get a hold, but was still being attacked. Sakura laughed at Kiba but Sasuki scowled. The mission was to get a damn house cat.
She was a shinobi now and yet she's dealing with a runaway pet. Was this for real? Was she just passed out from training and would wake up to see Naruto? She pinched herself and when she felt the pain and also remained there, it was all real...
"Do you have the target?" Kakashi said
Sasuki could hear his slight chuckle in his voice and she was mad. "Yeah. We have the stupid cat." Sasuki said, she was annoyed
"Alright go to rally point Charlie." Kakashi said
They all grouped up in a clearing Kakashi was there waiting with a camera. He took pictures of their faces and was laughing hysterically at them. This was obviously nothing they imagined being a ninja would be like.
"Becareful Kiba...Tora scratches. Oh and hey Akamaru!" Kakashi said
"You could have said that before!" Kiba said and he was angry at the dumb cat and Kakashi for not fully explaining what the mission would entail.
"I could have...but this is funnier!" Kakashi began laughing again.
"Wait...Akamaru? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I WAS BEING ATTACKED?" Kiba just realised that during the whole thing, Akamaru had not helped in any way. Akamaru just barked a response. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I DIDN'T ASK FOR HELP? YOU SHOULD HAVE CAME IN WHEN I WAS BEING JUMPED!"
Everyone now started laughing at Kiba since his companion had left him to dry. It was also something they hadn't thought of. Perhaps Akamaru hated cats so much that he wasn't interested in even fighting it for Kiba? Perhaps Akamaru was just disappointed in Kiba for being so easily destroyed by the cat.
"Let's go report back to Sandaime-sama on a mission complete." Kakashi said
Mission Room
"Team 7, reporting on Mission: Capture Tora mission complete." Kakashi said bowing to Hiruzen. They both had smiles on their face from looking at the faces of the Genin.
They were furious. Was this a joke? Desperately hoping that it was a joke and they weren't really supposed to be doing this crap. This was normal people stuff, they were ninja, trained to kill. This had been stupid.
The only one that seemed fine with it was Sakura. She looked just fine and had a smile infact. It wasn't just the humor of Kiba being destroyed by the cat but she was pleased with the mission. This could be her life and she wouldn't mind.
"Very well, Kakashi. How did they do?" Hiruzen said
"They did well in tracking Tora and Sasuki had done great on funneling Tora to the others. Kiba reached the cat and captured her. He suffered cuts and gashes from Tora but has recovered. Sakura helped Kiba after Tora settled down."
"Good work team 7. You did well. How do you feel after your first mission?"
"HOKAGE-SAMA, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Kiba said as he was trying to charge st Hiruzen but Kakashi caught his hood.
"It was your first mission?"
"MISSION? YOU CALL THAT A MISSION?"
"He has a point...this was not what I expected when becoming a ninja." Sasuki said as she got tired of remaining quiet. Plus Kiba was getting annoying from his shouting. Atleast if she was talking, Kiba would shut up.
"Ah I see. Well you guys are brand new Genin-"
"Naru doesn't do this crap!"
"What does Naruto do?" Sakura asked
"Sasuki, Kiba enough! You have just started. If you perform well on multiple missions, they may start giving higher ranked ones...keep acting like this and you'll never get higher. Understood?"
The two silenced and just awaited to be released. After a few minutes they'd been free to go. Sasuki was still really annoyed, she'd finally become an active ninja and would serve like Naruto...yet all she's doing was fetching cats. What else was in store? This wasn't how she imagined being a shinobi to be like.
"Sasuki...wait." Kakashi grabbed her shoulder as she walked away.
"What?"
"You need to be more careful about Naruto's status...although they'll know if they ever see his tattoo, it is better not to broadcast it anyway."
"I know...I understand. It just came out."
"I get that you're frustrated. I was the same back then...there's a reason to these missions. Just take it easy ok? I'm sure Naruto's excited to see you."
Right on cue Naruto appeared via shunshin but it was different this time. Lightning had danced around where he was just prior to him appearing and danced around him. It was an elemental shunshin, most leaf shinobi use leaves if they do but this was cooler...in Naruto's eyes...and Sasuki's as well. She would get him to teach her that later.
"How was it Sasuki-chan?"
"She had a successful first mission." Kakashi said and gave a thumbs up before leaving with a leaf shunshin.
"Well let's go celebrate your first successful mission. How about some sweets?"
She gave a nod. Was this what being a ninja was? It couldn't be. She wouldn't allow it. Naruto wouldn't stay so far away forever, she would catch up. No more being a burden and too weak to help.
"So, you learn your squad?"
"Yes...yes I did..."
Well y'all, sorry about uploading late. I wanted to sooner but I was exhausted from work. Been working from 5am till midnight...then all day today I had been at a dealership getting a car. But then again, I always upload at night so I guess this is sort of normal. I have an idea for a new story, not sure when I'll start writing it but I will most definitely finish this one. It won't just be left unfinished.
