Everything was going real smooth, I was with Darkness who was almost nude asking me not to leave the room where we both were.

— I… I don't mind…. I don't want you to leave… s-so… c-could you stay here w-with me?
— D…Darkness… I…
As I started to feel my face like burning because of what I was going to say. Darkness´s eyes began to open wide. And then…
— ¡Darkness! ¡Kazuma! ¡Come quick, the household is being atta- "
Aqua was astounded seeing Darkness almost naked and me so close to her. Then Aqua shouted at Darkness.
Megumin rushed to the room and ignoring everything she was seeing, she hurried us.
—¡Darkness look out!
A giant fireball was going to go through the windows right where Darkness was. I didn't have time to overthink about what was happening so I instinctively pushed Darkness far from the windows and used the auto-dodge skill.
The fireball destroyed the whole wall and part of the room. My plan was to save Darkness but my arm got broken thinking that she wasn't that hard skinned.
Megumin rushed to the room and ignoring everything she was seeing, she hurried us.
— Come on, Kazuma, Darkness, Aqua… We must protect the household.
Darkness without any sign of shyness like a minutes ago, she got ready and we went outside just to see a whole army of monsters firing giant fireballs with a catapult.
— ¡Aqua! ¡Megumin! ¡You two go together so Aqua can give mana to Megumin once she cast her explosion spell!
— ¡Darkness, you and I will go-!
— Kazuma, thank you for saving me.
She sincerely smiled giving me a beautiful smile. It goes without saying that I was flushed.
— I could never let you be harmed.
We both looked at each other embarrassed.
— ¡Okay Darkness, let´s kick some asses!
— I´m counting on you.
Just when Darkness and I started to attack the intruders, explosions began to shake the whole place. The household soldiers were pushing forward to defeat the army. Unfortunately, there were some snipers in the rooftops shooting at the soldiers letting some of them heavily injured, some of them dead too.
— ¡Megumin, cast your spell to the right and front flank!
— Aqua give me more mana please… I´m running out of energy….
Megumin was overly tired, I was starting to get worried because more and more soldiers were getting shot. I was starting to get tired too by using Tinder and Deadly-backstab.
— ¡Kazuma ¿are you okay?!
— ¡Don´t mind me!
A huge fireball was being charged to the catapult, so I came up with an idea.
— ¡Megumin, shoot at the catapult before they get to shoot that thing!
— ¡Oi Kazuma, are you okay over there?! ¡You look pretty tired!
Aqua was concerned about me about being so tired, but if this went good we could defeat them so I just kept going with the plan.
— Darkness, protect me while I shoot at the snipers.
And just when I finished my sentence, Darkness was keeping the arrows far from me while I prepared myself to use Snipe.
— ¡Kazuma, hurry up, Megumin is not going to last too long once she cast her spell!
Aqua was doing the best she can to prevent Megumin to fade before she explodes the catapult.
— ¡Snipe!
The arrow killed some of the sniper trolls on our right flank.
— ¡Way to go Kazuma, keep going!
Darkness was cheering me, so I kept protecting Megumin and Aqua by clearing the rooftops from snipers.
— ¡Sniiiipe!
I kept sniping and more trolls were getting injured. The catapult was almost ready to shoot the giant fireball to us.
— ¡Now Megumin!
— ¡Hai! Explosio-
Megumin got shot at her leg.
— ¡Megumin!
Darkness shouted as she saw Megumin get injured.
— ¡Come on Aqua heal her quick, the trolls are going to shoot that!
I yelled in exasperation and aqua began to heal Megumin, I tried to buy some time by shooting the trolls at the catapult. As the spotted Megumin, the trolls aimed the fireball to them.
They shot.
— ¡Explooooosion!
Due to the injury not totally healed, Megumin´s shot was aimed to the catapult instead of the fireball so the trolls shot the projectile before the catapult got destroyed.
Megumin faded and Aqua was not gonna make it carrying her.
If I go to protect them I´m going to die and Eris is not gonna help me come back to life…. But I can´t let them die…
I looked at Darkness, she noticed. I smiled at her and prepared myself to rescue Aqua and Megumin.
— ¡Hang on Aqua, Megumin!
I can´t die now, I´m not going to die until I confess how I feel to Darkness…
I held Aqua an Megumin to use Escape before the fireball kill us.
— ¡Escaaaape!
…
Nothing happened.
…
Damn… ¿I´m I really going to die right now?
I can´t believe I´m won´t be able to tell Darkness the feelings I have for her… But I must protect my partners…
I shielded Aqua and Megumin as the fireball was getting close. Aqua was healing Megumin so she couldn't use it on me yet
A big explosion shake everything, I felt my arms get heavily burned and blood streams came from them. I was slowly getting more and more weak.
I raised my head and…
I saw Darkness shielding us, she slayed the giant fireball getting her armor destroyed and their arms burned.
The fireball split into two, impacting the household knights and army trolls, both of them getting fatally burned.
Darkness managed to protect all of us, otherwise, she could even stand on her own.
Her sword cracked into various pieces and she fell to the ground.
— D-Darkness… Oi…
No response
— Darkness… ¿C-can you hear m-me...?
— ¡Kazuma don´t move, you are seriously injured!
Aqua yelled at me but I kept myself crawling to Darkness.
— Come on Darkness… You can´t die now…. Wake up and say something pervy or tell me I´m rude or a scum or something like that…
It hurts.
— O-oi Darkness…. You c-can´t die… not now… y-you know why?
It really hurts.
My chest hurts, I can't really help it but cry… I don´t want her to die right now…
Aqua tried to resurrect her but there was no response from her.
— ¡Hey Darkness…. No… L-Lalatina… You can´t die now….!
I hugged her.
— You can´t die because I love you Lalatina… I really love you…
Total silence.
I saw my comrades trying to find a solution just to see aqua hiding her face from crying and the household knights in disbelief of the dead of the lord Ignis daughter.
— Darkness… I really love you…
I really wanted her to know…
— Y-you r-rea..lly mean it…?
My heart started to beat faster.
— Yes… I really mean it…
Darkness almost whispering asked me.
— D-d-dou you… really… like… m-me?
— I love you Lalatina…. I really love you… Even if sometimes you are a hopeless pervert, stubborn girl or a bothersome partner… I really love you…
Her cheeks got a little red.
— I-I´m so… relieved…
Aqua who was listening everything rushed to me.
— ¡Kazuma let me heal her now before she really passes away!
