I will not be showing Ami or Yura's life a lot, but I wanted you to get some understanding of what their lives are like so...

This is going to be a shorter chapter as the training for Mio is going to be sort of boring... I just want you all to get the feel for it more then show it.

Did you know that cat purrs help heal the body? Should I translate that into healing jutsu? Just a thought.

Ami hated going home, it made her realize how... off she was when compared to her family. They were warm bunch, just as she was, but they were also blind followers who rarely thought for themselves. They stuck their heads so far up the Nara clan's collective ass they almost never did anything for themselves. She couldn't stand the reliance they had on others, to the point where they were more puppets then people...

Case in point, as she walked into the courtyard where many of her cousins were training, she saw Shukaku Nara walking out of the main clan council building. The sliding doors were still open, so she got to see the dozen or so clan members that ruled their council along side Choza Akamichi. No other clan would allow a non clan member to have any part in the clan council and yet Shikaku Nara was exiting a clan meeting... sigh. It was a common sight for the more independent Akamichi.

'What does he have that makes him such a force in our clan? It's not like he's one of ones smart enough to want to denounce that idiot Choji as clan heir. He's far too weak and passive to be a clan head. He'd never be able to make hard choices, his head is firmly up Shikamaru's ass as it is.'

Sighing, she moved around her cousins, making her way to her own small apartment in the compound... only to be stopped by Choza, walking with false purpose towards her as if he actually had a thought in that empty mind of his. "Ami! I heard you did amazingly well with your sensei! He said your almost Chunin level already, my girl."

She turned, a fake smile on her face. "I work hard, Cousin."

"Enough of that cousin stuff, call my Choza, I told you that so many times." He frowned at her, his already barely visible eyes squinting even more then they normally did.

"I know, it's just habit Choza." This time her smile was more genuine, Choza was annoying and empty headed like most of her clan but he meant well. She couldn't fault that. "What else did Aoba Sensei say?"

"That your potential is like Lady Tsunade's and your almost chunin level!" Choza's voice peaked, gathering the attention of the others. "I was worried, when you weren't put on an Ino-Shika-Cho team, a team that would bolster and increase your potential, but to find out you are excelling all on your own is... well I am glad I was wrong. We are celebrating tomorrow, your and Choji's placement on your Genin teams. You'll have a seat of honor, right next to him!"

Her smile waned, though she masked it well. 'Sitting next to the death of our clan, lovely... still, you mean well.' She bowed low. " I would be honored, Choza... is she making dumplings? Can I invite my team?"

"Yes and of course, I heard lots about them at the council meeting. I would be beyond happy to meet them."

"Then I will make sure to tell my team when we train tomorrow." And she was excited for that. She liked her team, a lot.

Yura was quiet but nice and very skilled, she would be someone that Ami would be honored to fight besides. She couldn't wait to get to know her. Then there was Naomi, a girl so beautiful that Ami couldn't help but stare a little. She wondered if she was like her, into men and women. She hoped so, it would be nice to have a shot with someone so nice, and strong and smart as Naomi...

:::

With shaking hands, Yura entered her parent's office. She felt their eyes on her before she saw them, their byakugans starting at her through the doors. She always could feel their eyes on her, she wasn't sure how. Even though she lacked the byakugan herself, so far at least, it had been something she had always been able to do. Not that she had shared that secret with her parents, it was the last thing they needed to know.

"We heard the report your sensei gave to the Hokage." Her father spoke first, his voice lacking the typical refinement of the Hyuuga whilst in private. Instead it was cold and raspy, with an edge to it that left her shaking. "He said you used Kenjutsu during your battle."

"I had little choice, I am not able to fully utilize my Gentle Fist due to my lack of a Byagkugan." She kept her voice strong, having learned that unlike most abusers, her parents were more offended by submission then defiance. "He ordered us to come at him with the intent to kill, so I utilized all of my skills instead of just the Gentle Fist. More over, he is capable of reading minds through combat, he would have known if I was holding back."

Her father sneered and stepped out of the shadows, letting her get a good look at him. He was a tall man, even for a Hyuuga, and thinner then what you usually saw in the village with Brown eyes that belied the usage of his Byakugan. He was dressed in an all white Kimono, something that she thought signified his lack of shinobi powers. Though trained in the art of the Gentle Fist, as all Hyuuga's were, he was not a Ninja by trade and it showed.

Her mother, followed her husband, showing a sneer equal to her husband's. Unlike her husband her eyes were of Typical Hyuuga preference. Her face was round and she had long stringy black hair tired into a pony tail. She was far from beautiful and she knew it, no matter how much it irritated her. Like her husband, she was not a Ninja by trade and it showed.

Tsubaki and Hakudoshi Hyuuga were not good people, both were cold, cruel and hateful and Ami loathed them almost as much as she feared them.

"If you had developed your Byakugan, you would not have embarrassed us so much."

'You forget that I am nearly chunin level, hell I am probably able to beat some chunin in the village. Not that such a thing would be good to you, even if I used only the Gentle Fist. You'd fine some way for it to be shameful in your eyes. I managed to get several hits in against a powerful, experienced Shinobi that was old enough to have served in the previous war.'

Taking a subtle deep breathe, she straightened her back fully. "I managed to get in several hits on a Jonin level Ninja, most of which were Gentle Fist strikes. I managed to entirely disable his arms, and left welts and bruises all over his body. Yes my teammates did their own damage, but most of it was at my hand."

Both of her parents rolled their eyes as once, they really were a match made in hell.

"We will be increasing your training, we need to better your Gentle Fist if you think you need to rely on lesser techniques like Kenjutsu."

Yura said nothing else, but vowed to herself to never stop with Kenjutsu. She loved it, excelled at it, and damn it it made her happy... not many things did any more...

Not many things were willing to...

"Alrighty, let's get started Miss Mio!" Hana's peppy voice made Naomi smile, it was hard not to ride the women's wave of enjoyment as they wafted off of her. "I have so much planned for her. I brought all the tools we need to start her training, treats to start her with commands, chakra slips to get her adapted to sensing chakra and a leash to lead her as we need to."

Naomi, with Mio in hand, walked toward her teacher. " Where do we start?"

"Well, I want to see where her sensitivity to chakra is. I know she can sense chakra, she sensed Naruto's when that whole scroll debacle happened, but to what level is unclear. We want to make sure she is as useful as possible for you in battle. Or just in tracking, I also am thinking of having a summoning seal placed on her in case she ends up being a better tracker then combatant. The Third Hokage offered to create the seal for you if it comes to that."

"I appreciate that, I really do."

"Good... now, let's get this leash on her and get this stuff started. I warn you, the next month is going to be boring. A lot walking, commands, demonstrations and treats. But if you work hard we can get her started acting as a least a tracker. We don't know if here intelligence will continue to grow. You chakra isn't specially developed yet so the effects could be minimal as it has been or more intense, it's up in the air." Hana placed a bag down, filled with the tools of their new trade. "Now let's get this collar and leash on her, Oh and the collar has a seal so you can always track down Mio. She is a part of the Leaf's military, they want to know where she is at all times until she is reliable enough to not need it like our dogs."

"That's fair." The collar was cute too, a deep purple with a single spirally shape on the metal clip. It was some sort of seal, as Hana had explained. Naomi had always found sealing interesting, so she took a good look but could understand almost nothing about the thing. It was too advanced for her to get any measure of it. "At least it's cute, I know that shouldn't matter but it's nice that it looks nice. Petty but true."

"I understand that, trust me. Now, there are a few commands she needs to know if she is going to be a part of the military. Attack, Retreat, Track, Stop/Stay and Flee. There are more advanced ones of course, but those ones are the most vital. Well, there are other ones like Return, Eat, Don't Eat... whatever but those are not military specific. They will still be learned though."

"Naturally."

"I'm glad you think so. Anyway, today we will go over the basics, testing her behavior and seeing what she able to understand and sense with chakra. I will be flaring each chakra slip to see how she reacts, the I will gauge the reaction and record it. My goal is to get her to come to you with this chakra, signal you for good or bad chakra, ally or enemy or stranger, and amount. Sort of complex but even regular dogs can be taught to react to epileptic fits, low sugar, anxiety fits and detect cancer. She is smarter then any normal dog, so she should be able to handle any of these things.

Now, the signals will be a meow for chakra sensed, a long meow for large chakra, short for low chakra, purr for ally and hiss for enemy. Simple but that is where we will start. Now, this will take a lot of dedication. Even after our months you have to continue with her, and take her in for monthly assessment. After a year it will be every four months unless you notice a change. Sound fair?"

Naomi nodded, excited to get started. "Yes, yes it does... oh and she does understand more then I realized. I got her to stay earlier, she took a nap and didn't leave the field while I trained nor come after me. It isn't much but It does help right?"

"Yes, that sounds great actually. Now, let's get to it shall we? Oh and we will be getting to your training later, I will leave you some books on anatomy for cats, herbs they can and cannot take in and some basics on medical jutsu so you can heal her if she is hurt. I wouldn't advise you do too much on that front, at least until you take a veterinarian battle field test but some skill will make you very helpful to your allies since healing humans and cats isn't that different."

Naomi barely hid the almost lustful expression that threatened to come out of her at the thought of being so useful in combat. It was her dream to be as great as possible and this was an amazing step...

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was so much fun to write, I really enjoyed it.

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
