The sun did little to warm they chilled earth. Cold, the she-cat fluffed out her thick striped pelt. Shivering even as she was being cuddled by both Icaruswind an Dirtclaw, the two toms talking as they all shared tongues.
A patrol was coming in, and she noticed that it had only a few warriors. Just three, which was awfully weird consitrating that Leafstar ordered there to be at least four to five, paranoid that FlameClan would attack an small patrol.
With an ear flick she glanced to find the pretty ginger she-cat. Giving a small smile as she spotted the leader, grooming her mate, Feathershine. It was nice to see the usually stressed leader relaxed, enjoying time with the soft white warrior.
"Only mousebrain's trip over their own feet when hunting!" Snorted Icaruswind. His tail lashing back and forth as he stared down Dirtclaw, who layed on his back.
Dirtclaw scrunched up his nose. "I'm not a mousebrain! I just fell, and you didn't even go after the mouse, you came to help me."
"I wanted to make sure you didn't injure yourself acting like a complete idiot." Retorted the one-eyed warrior. His ears twitching backwards a he glared down his paws.
The white-and-brown tom purred, his tail tapping Icaruswind's nose. "Aw, you actually care about me. How swee-" he was cut short as the slightly bigger tom pounced onto him.
Ears flattened to his head the silver tom hissed. He was pushed off, only as their leader padded up to them. "I thought I invited two new warriors into my Clan, not kits." She meowed, voice light and playful as her eyes glittered.
Icaruswind gave an embarrassed nod. His tongue rasping down fluffed out fur on his shoulder. Dirtclaw didn't seem to mind. And instead stretched out a limb as he meowed confidently. "Being a warrior is stressful. You have to play sometimes to relieve your tired paws!"
The ginger she-cat purred. "I see," she mewed, sitting down to wrap her tail around her paws.
"What did you need? The leader doesn't just come talk to some warriors for nothing," inquired Icaruswind. His gaze now narrowed and focused.
Leafstar only blinked. She seemed a bit confused, but nodded slowly. "I have time to see all my warriors are happy." She meowed, before adding. "And I wanted to see how you are settling into the Clan - and how Beepaw is doing finally back."
"It's Smallbee, and we are all fine." Hissed the tom. He dug his claws into the snow, but their leader dismissed it with a flick of her tail tip.
"That's good to hear, B- um - Smallbee, can I speak with you alone?" Leaving the two toms to argue about something else, Smallbee followed her leader.
It got worst everyday to just get herself up. With two moons being fully up, and almost half of three moons, her stomach was now big enough to weight her down. And she could feel it.
Wobbling after Leafstar she was glad to finally sit back down. Quickly licking her ruffled pelt down as Leafstar started to speak. "You have been here for awhile. And since then your name has been a topic that is.."
"Arguable about?" Muttered Smallbee.
Leafstar nodded. "Yes, and I want to settle this once and for all. Do you wish to earn a SaltClan warrior name, or stay with Smallbee?"
I have a choice? Blinking she shifted. It was a lot to think about, in her life she had just settled with being call Beepaw before it changed. And she finally noticed how she never called herself Smallpaw, and only adopted the 'Small' part after earning 'bee' at the end.
"I..I want to forget about FlameClan." She meowed, softly, as if only talking to herself and not the pretty she-cat before her.
With a purr, and an understanding glint in her eyes, Leafstar dipped her head. "Then I will announce it. Any suggestions?"
"No," relaxing she sighed. It was like a weight was falling off her shoulders. "Just name me like you would if I had trained here..please?"
Begging. It make her sick to think she sounded so..just take the name! Before she could speak anymore the leader leaped upon the Saltedge.
"SaltClan, gather under the Saltedge for a Clan naming!" Leafstar stood there with her head raised high. Shoulders narrowed as she waited patiently for her Clan to gather under her.
The tabby she-cat stood before her leader. Excitement rushing through her paws, but she also spotted Icaruswind's gaze boring into her pelt. And a part of her felt..bad. It was weird. She owned him nothing, nor did she even needed to take on the name of Smallbee before all this.
"It has been to long since we saw Beepaw, and since then her name has been tossed around. Changed and deformed by Crackedstar, leader of FlameClan. But now we change it once more - and for the last time.
"Beepaw, please step forward."
Stumbling back to her paws she forced her heavy weighed self to walk forward. She felt eyes narrow into her pelt, but there was no negativity, at least that she could feel.
"From today on you shall be known as Beepath. Even though all the twisted ways that have been pushed into your short life, you found a path that brought you back to SaltClan, and to your family. We welcome you as a full warrior, and right now queen, of SaltClan."
Beepath padded forward to give her leader a brisk lick on the shoulder. And she felt the ginger she-cat do the same to her forehead.
"Beepath! Beepath!"
Waves of voices traveled through the camp. And she purred, a rush of joy making her fluff out her pelt. It died down, but a few of her old former denmates came to speak with her for the first time since she came back.
Even Flytail, her white pelted brother who never really spoke to her, said something. He disappear quickly afterwords, but Hornetrun stayed at her side.
"So, we finally can stop arguing over your name?" Snorted her brother playfully.
Beepath nodded. She felt her entire body shaking from the excitement. Even if it was another name change, it made her feel better. I lost Jade and I'm fine with that. But Smallbee was nothing but an insult created by Crackedstar.
The gray queen was happy to have gotten rid of that name. And now she padded over to her mate and friend, only to pause and see a shaded look in Icaruswind's eye. "What's got your fur in a twist?" She snapped.
Icaruswind growled as he fluffed out his pelt. "Nothing," he grumbled. Lifting himself to his paws before padding off.
There was a heavy silence before Dirtclaw cleared his throat. Green eyes narrowed as he shifted uncomfortably. "..Do you want something to eat?" He asked, in a small voice, his gaze watching the silver tom leave.
Sighing she lashed her tail. Suddenly feeling a wave of tiredness wash over her. All she wanted to be curled up in her warm nest and sleep. "No," she mewed, turning to walk back to the nursery.
Sorry this chapter took a bit to get out.
