No Heart

What? Were you expecting to read from the Care Bear's point of view? Mortal fool. Allow me to go on the fourth wall here. This book is titled "No Heart." And yes, this is a very dark story. Were you expecting to read a cute and fuzzy story with talking teddy bears in a magical world of make believe with rainbows and clouds with smiley faces? Bah! Then you are reading the wrong story. However, this chapter in particular is dedicated to me. Yes. To me. This memoir you are reading about those two pipsqueaks are just a distraction to get you farther from the truth of things! Allow me to tell you a story. The story of how the Care Bears met their demise. And it all began a few years before this current story began...

For generations, the Care Bears have protected the world's children from the nightmares of No Heart. And for generations, No Heart has battled the Care Bears over and over again, with each generation. For some reason, the Care Bears remained immortal, while No Heart passes on. To secure their immortality, No Heart would pass his powers to another youthful soul. Both Men and Women were given the title. And then as fate would have it, I was given the title. The title of No Heart. And as No Heart, my battles with the Care Bears have been legendary.

I will never forget the day my predecessor chose me. She was a striking young woman with dark hair and vicious looking eyes full of wickedness. She found me, alone in the street like Eddie and his brat brother Bellon. When I came of age, I became what I am today. No Heart. A title with so much meaning to the foolish Care Bears.

For years, the Care Bears and I have fought many times. And I was a lot fiercer than my predecessors. The other No Hearts simply made spells and poured it on Earth. They would simply make a person become a killer, or make children bully other children at school. Mere weak spells with no effort. Whatever little simple thing the others have done, the Care Bears would fix it right away. I was not like that at all. I wanted to be worse. I wanted to be more memorable and leave behind a long and lasting legacy. And I did. And I am proud of it.

To do this, I needed help right away. I had found my next successor, a girl with terrible emotional problems. I quickly seduced her to the dark impulse and gave her the name Shrieky. She was like a niece to me. Then I found a furry and disgusting creature that lived in the caves from far away. It's name was Beastly. Dreadful animal it was. Anyway, I had my small team, and together, we made life a living hell for the Care Bears. I have done spells more powerful than what they ever saw, and I even did things that would tear them all apart. But no matter how powerful my spells were, or how far I have gotten to nearly breaking them, I always lost and they won with their infernal light.

But one day, everything changed. I knew that there was one thing that the Care Bears loved very deeply. One thing that I knew would actually make them snap. Children. They loved Children.

And that was how I got to them.

On that fateful day, I sent Shrieky and Beastly to Earth to bring me a random child. Which ever one. I didn't care. Eventually, they brought me one. A little girl in a very pretty little dress. She looked like a middle class girl judging by her appearance. Now all I needed was to push the Care Bears to their limits. I wanted to see them suffer that day. I wanted to watch them burn and ensue their chaos. I wanted to hurt them all... just like they hurt me when I was a boy.

When I was much younger, I lived in the streets, begging for scraps, and small jobs. But, this was Techno City. Even before I ruled it's dark impulse, the city had a dark history behind it, and at night, it was a dangerous place. The Care Bears tried everything in their power to stop the dark impulse from growing and they nearly succeeded had it not for the dark underground secret socieitys at night. Growing up, I was always suffering at the hands of people. I was raped. I was beaten. I was thrown in small jail cells. I was close to being hanged once. And people were always wicked. I remember hoping the care bears would one day swoop in and save me. But they never arrived. And this time, I wanted to prove a point to them.

On that day, I had the girl close to me and I commanded Shrieky and Beastly to stand by my side as we watched from my tower in my hidden fortress. Eventually, the Care Bears and their freaky cousins arrived, using their stupid looking clouds that looked eerily like cars.

"We have you surrounded No Heart! Give us the girl!" commanded Funshine Bear, the jokster of the bears.

"Is that a joke? Am I to laugh?" I mocked.

"Give us the girl! Spare her!" pleaded the soft and young voice of Tender Heart Bear, the leader of the infernal creatures. He walked forward from the large group and stood his ground looking at me with those hard eyes of his.

"Please hand the girl over No Heart. She has done nothing wrong to you." said Tender Heart.

I began to laugh and Shrieky joined in with her squeaky cartoonish voice. "You hear that Uncle? The cute teddy bear wants us to free the little girl."

Beastly jumped up in joy laughing hysterically. "Yeah yeah yeah! To us, bad is good and good is bad!" he cried.

"SILENCE DOG!" I screamed. Not at Shrieky, at Beastly. He was annoying at times.

The little girl began to cry and I placed my hands on her cheek. "Oh don't cry butter cup. You'll be free... as soon as I get my revenge." I said.

"What could you possibly want from us? We have nothing to give you!" cried Cheer Heart Bear.

"If it's Gold you want, I can get it! I come from the other side of the Rainbow!" cried Good Luck Bear.

"He's not listening friend. No Heart only cares to watch us all suffer. We are sadly playing his game." said Grumpy Bear. I actually did have a soft spot for that one, but not that much.

"What can we do to get the girl back?" cried Tender Heart.

"I have something for you animals to do. I wish to see you all bow down to me and I will let the girl live." I said. I then held my sharp fingers close to the girl's throat and she began to whimper. Shrieky rolled her eyes and Beastly didn't know what to do.

"Bow down to you? NEVER! We will never bow down to you! The Good Angels told us to never bow down to anything evil. Why, our beloved King Jesus commands us not to bow down to the wicked." said Tender Heart firmly stomping his foot on the ground.

"I'll be merciful just this once. Last chance. Bow down to me, or she dies." I said, fighting the urge to simply throw the girl from the tower.

"Besides us bowing down, what else do you want? Surely there's a way." asked Bright Heart Raccoon, one of the bear's cousins.

"Oh! Tell them to jump off a cliff uncle." said Shrieky, thinking small, but not a bad idea.

"Care Bears... there is something I would like. Leave your Care a lot, and your Forest of Feelings, and ... leave your mantles." I said.

I could hear the mumbling of the bears and the animals.

"That is part of who we are. We cannot abandon children and people." said Tender Heart.

I was begginning to lose patience. They were making this harder for me. I then did the unthinkable. I grabbed the girl from her arm, lifted her up and threated to let her go and have her fall to her death.

The bears and the animals stopped mumbling to eachother and they all looked at my act like lunatics. They started to scream and speak to eachother on what to do next.

"You can have me! But let the girl go." pleaded Tender Heart. I saw the bear's face, and for the first time... I saw tears forming. He looked like he was about to cry. I wanted to laugh. I wanted to mock him, but I held my toungue watching this. I felt like I was winning.

"You want her? Go ahead. Take her." I said, enjoying the moment. I then let my hand go and the girl fell, screaming. The other care bears began to panic and Tender Heart quickly reacted.

"Care Bear Stare!" he cried as his stomach symbol began to glow and a powerful light appeared to beam at the girl. And then the world slowed down for all of us there.

As the girl was falling and Tender Heart tried to save her with his stare, the light beam hit her. But that did NOT save her. Instead, Tender Heart's insanely overpowered light beam pushed the girl towards the wall of my tower. I remember seeing her knocked out by the impact. Realizing what was happening, Tender Heart stopped. His light beam let go, and the lifeless body of the girl fell into the clouds. Shrieky began to scream an unholy scream of terror and Beastly was chewing his hands in fright.

Tender Heart then screamed. "NOOOO! NOOO! NOOO!" he cried.

I myself could not believe what just happened. I simply stood there, processing what had just happend and before I knew it, some of the Care Bears began to shoot their light beams at my tower.

"Murderer!" cried Grumpy Bear.

"Monster!" cried Share Bear.

"You heathen!" cried Brave Heart Lion.

I turned around and opened a portal using one of my spells. Beastly was about to go in until I kicked him very hard and he flew outside the tower screaming for mercy. I saw a light beam hit him, and burned him to dust, leaving his fur flying in the air. Shrieky shook her head.

"Now's my chance Uncle! Allow me to show you how powerful I am!" she cried.

"Shrieky! NO!" I demanded. I didn't want my student and successor die! But as I was about to pull her, she screamed very loudly sending her voice down on the animals. I then saw when some of their infernal lights flew shortly after Shrieky stopped and the light burned her.

I watched in horror as Shrieky grabbed her broom. "Your on your own uncle! Until we meet again!" she cried.

"NO you fool! Come back!" I screamed. But it was too late. Shrieky escaped using her broom and flew away to safety. "You coward!" I cried.

Just then, I heard the tower was beginning to crumble and I quickly went through my portal. After the portal vanished, I found myself in Care a Lot. The bears were not there yet, and I found that this place was left secluded. I then began to laugh. The day may have had it's moments, but this was the day I finally got them. The day I broke their hearts for good.

The following morning, the Care Bears arrived in Care A Lot, only to find their castles and their homes destroyed. I have a cast a powerful spell over their precious kingdom, destroying everything, even their beloved Caring Meter.

"Why did this had to happen?" cried Cheer Bear.

"I killed her. I killed a little girl." whimpered Tender Heart Bear.

Good Luck Bear held his hand and shook his head. "You did no such thing. You tried to save her. But the situation was not under your control. This is NOT your fault." said Good Luck Bear.

I was hiding behind a cloud, and I began to cackle with deight as I clapped my hands together. The Care Bears then turned their furry heads to face me and they quickly huddled together. I have to admit, it looked really cute, yet sinister at the same time.

"You fools didn't bow to me. And for that, the girl paid the price." I said.

Grumpy Bear then growled at me like an actual bear and he charged against me, baring some fangs and putting out his claws.

"You MONSTER!" he cried as he began to slash at my legs. I screamed of course. I had no idea those things had sharp claws and teetch. Grumpy Bear bit my leg eventually. To this day, I still have the bite mark.

In my desperation to be free, I kicked Grumpy Heart and sent him flying against a cloud wall.

"Stop! Your doing enough pain on us as is!" pleaded Tender Heart.

I then held out my hand, and materialized fire out of my palm. I then eyed Grumpy, who was not standing up, bleeding from his mouth and growling at me.

"Give me a reason why I shouldn't set your Grumpy Bear on fire." I said, trying to hide the pain of my leg.

"Fight me on hand to hand combat No Heart. If I win, you will leave our lands and never come back." said Tender Heart.

"You crazy Tender Heart?! He needs to DIE!" cried Grumpy Bear.

"We don't kill. We don't kill." said Tender Heart, obviously losing his sanity. Cheer Bear held his shoulder.

"Honey, please. Don't do this. The Good Angels saw what happened. They never in a million years judge you for this." said Cheer Bear.

I then laughed out my heart, almost. "Good Angels?! You think they would be forgiving on a child killer like him!?!" I said with joy. I was so enjoying them suffer right there. Tender Heart was close to breaking down, and once the leader of the Care Bears falls, the others will follow.

"If they were here now, you'd be executed on the spot." said Tender Heart.

I then began to mock again, this time hoping to make Tender Heart snap. "Oh they are? Mercy! Mercy me! Oh! Where are the angels?! Are they watching us?! Oh sweet lord Jesus! I'm about to burn! Oh my, oh my." I was saying.

In that moment, Tender Heart charged against me, with his belly starting to lit up. "STARE!" He cried as his infernal beam quickly shot out. I then jumped hight into the air avoiding the beam, until I was hit by another. Grumpy Heart also shot his beam and so did the other Care Bears. I screamed in pain as the power of the beams were burning my entire body. To save myself, I quickly made an ice spell to make a shield, to block the stare. When I did that, the light beams reflected from the shield and hit the Care Bears instead.

And then, two more light beams appeared. I was hit by both of them, and they were much stronger. I looked up and saw Noble Heart Horse, and True Heart Bear, two agents of the Good Angels and founding members of the Care Bears and the Cousins.

"We heard what you did! And by Holy Order of Love, we sentence you to death No Heart." said Noble Heart.

"For your crimes against humanity, and our family." said True Heart.

I stood up and laughed again. A common habit off mine to keep me sane. "You think you all won? No bears! Look! Your caring meter is destroyed. Earth is probably having some problems now! And besides, you all have no power to stop me! The world is changing fools!" cried No Heart.

They all didn't say a word and Tender Heart quickly pulled out a sword from his stomach. "Our bellies have weapons inside that we use only when we are in mortal danger. I should have used this sword to slice you before you threw the little girl." said Tender Heart.

I then threw fire out of my hands, keeping the other bears and the two holy knights away from our fight. Tender Heart looked around and saw that Care A Lot was in flames. This beloved cloud town of theirs was burning and it was all done by me. Tender Heart looked up to where I was and he stood his ground.

"So, it's just you and me?" asked Tender Heart.

"Yes. Seems like it." I said.

"I will destroy you." said Tender Heart.

"And do what? I die, then what? What will you do? Bring the girl back from the dead? Heal the world after I'm gone. Where were you all when I needed you the most? I started out as a human boy, rejected by society and you all are doing the same thing! You preach of kindness and compassion when in reality, there is nothing to be done!" I cried.

And with that, I pulled out my own sword, hiddin in the darkest abyss of my cloak and used it to attack Tender Heart. We both fought with our swords as the town all over was burning. Eventually, I then swinged my sword and made a flesh wound on his belly.

The Care Bears screamed in agony and they shot their stare once again, only this time, I dodged it by flying high into the air and landing on the peak of their beloved castle.

"Look around Tender Heart. Your kingdom has fallen! It has fallen!" I declared.

I vanished into thin air, and I didn't return to Care A lot for a couple of days. I remained in my Tower, laughing and drinking in joy. The Care Bears have lost their home and above all else, they failed to save a life. The life of a child. I can only imagine the pain Tender Heart was going through. Just then, a letter arrived to me. I opened the envelope which was a small cloud and inside was a letter from Tender Heart himself, asking me to see him at the edge of Hell's Abyss, a rocky and volcanic region that was far from the reach of man and the Care Bears. I have ventured in that place from time to time, in hopes of creating a new base. I figured the time was now, and it was very convenient that Tender Heart summoned me.

As I arrived in a portal of darkness, I held out my sword in case Tender Heart attacked me. Instead however, I saw him sitting down on a rock, holding a small heart shaped heart on his hand.

"For years... I gave away my life to save children. I sacrificed so much to help them. I love children deeply. But... the killing of one is so unforgivable. The slaughter of one... that is something I will never get over." said Tender Heart.

I walked slowly towards him, wanting to shut him up. I didn't want him to speak more. But I allowed him to vent. This was very different indeed. A Care Bear was showing remorse, and guilt. Humans lack that sense of humanity within them at times. Some are even born without compassion and have nothing but hatred and anger in their hearts. A Care Bear is supposed to be perfect, and untouchable. I was the first of the No Hearts to actually break a Care Bear's spirit. And it was glorious.

"Go on. Speak." I purred under my breath. Tender Heart looked up at me with his wide sad looking eyes and he shook his head sadly.

"I KILLED a little girl with my Care Bear Stare. It was supposed to save her. Not kill her." said Tender Heart.

I stopped right there in my tracks. The image of the little girl smashed up against my tower somehow went back to mind, and I could imagine the scene so vividly. The sound, the shock. Even I wasn't ready for that to happen. I wanted to scare the girl, not have her killed in the hands of a Care Bear. C'mon, even I wasn't that cruel. But the fact that it made Tender Heart's own holy heart ache was enough to keep me sane somehow.

"Then, for killing a child, you deserve the death penalty." I said pointing my finger at Tender Heart.

"You... how could you. She was only a little girl." said Tender Heart.

I then scoffed. I folded my arms and shook my head in disbelief. "Everyday on Earth, a child dies from a lot of things. War, starvation, rape, domestic violence, and the list goes on and on. You are all limited! Children all over the world suffer! I was one of them! I was a boy living in the city with nothing to eat or to lay my head on at night. I even slept with my hands between my legs and had myself a knife on the side of my pocket to stab out someone's eye! The real world is a mess Care Bear! All of you are naive and too innocent to see the truth of things! That little girl that died because of your heroic deed was just something that just happened. SHIT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!"

Tender Heart looked up at me with a depressed looking emotion on his face. I looked around for any other Care Bear, but it looked like he was all alone after all.

"Where are the others?" I asked.

"I exiled myself. I am no longer a Care Bear. I'm nothing now. I broke a holy rule." said Tender Heart.

I was getting a little agitated with his pitiful sob story. "So what is it you are going to do Tender Heart?" I asked.

"I will live here in the abyss for all time. The fire will consume me little by little until there is nothing. I save no one. My hands are now filled with blood." said Tender Heart.

"Go and throw yourself in the lava then. You'de be doing us a huge favor." I said.

Tender Heart scoffed. "How can you live with yourself. You are just as guilty as I am. You let the girl go and she died because of my power. To put it bluntly, we both have blood on our hands. We are sinners you and I." said the broken bear helding out his paw. He then began to cry and I put away my sword.

"I don't fight with broken souls. Tender Heart, face the facts. I have finally won. I have finally defeated the Care Bears. Somehow, one way or another, I forced you to commit an heinous act without the both of us even knowing. In other words, this turned out better than what I had expected. The Care Bears depend on you for a lot of things. Without you, they will all face the cold and dark reality that the world will never be saved by smiling clouds, wishing stars, and rainbows. It's really depressing to think about this if I were in your shoes. But right now Care Bear, I take victory. The Care Bears are no more." I said aloud.

Tender Heart shook his head and broke down in tears, falling on his knees. His crying and wailing was so hyserical, I thought he was going to choke. I then danced around him, laughing and mocking him for my win.

After that, I returned to Care a lot, only to find the kingdom empty. There was nothing but broken cloud houses and towers and the caring meter was still destroyed. I then went on over to the Forest of Feelings, and even that place was empty. I realized now that the Care Bears have all been defeated. Tender Heart was like the soul and heart of them. Without him, they were all lost without a good leader and a friend. And since they all witnessed a child die before their eyes, I could only imagine the guilt they are facing. How troubling. But enought of this. I had won. End of story.

But not quite. As the years passed, I moved a few things around in Techno City. A young gangster sold his soul to me in exchange for power and he became the fearsome Wolfsheim. Then I saw to it that the discrimination among the humans would grow worse. And at long last, I went after the children. Those that lived in the streets I didn't care for, but I knew that the day would arrive when I would choose an heir. And that boy, Eddie is a fine specimen to carry on the power of the Dark Impulse.
