Destiny Steven Universe
Chapter 9
Path of the Stormcaller
Sapphire had been sent to Io, one of the moons of Jupiter. She had been learning how to use arc energy, the power she got from the Light. This was the last test. Ikora radioed to Sapphire
"Have you arrived on Io?" she asked
"Yes" Saphhire replied. "And I got a Ghost from Zavalah"
"Good. Io has a lot of Vex and Cabal on it" Ikora warned. "Now get on the sparrow that Amanda gave you and I'll send your Ghost the coordinates"
Amanda had shown Sapphire how to use a sparrow shortly before leaving. She found a smaller one that would fit Sapphire.
"Alright. I'm on my way" Sapphire said as she took off on her sparrow. Sapphire noticed that there were a lot of cracks on the ground in some places, and they were glowing white and blue.
"So what's the story behind this place? What's with allow the glowing cracks in the ground?" Sapphire asked
"Io was the last place the traveler touched." Ikora began to explain. "The Traveler transformed Io, like it did to other planets and moons, but it didn't transform all of it".
"Why not?" Sapphire asked.
"While the Traveler was transforming Io, the Darkness attacked. The Traveler left and headed straight to Earth before it could finish Io. It had to get back to Earth as soon as possible, to protect humanity. All those glowing spots in the ground, that's Light energy." Ikora continued. "When I feel lost or confused, this is where I come, because it's full of Light, the Light has the answers I need"
The Ghost then made a sarcastic comment "So this place is LITT!"
Sapphire continued to ride her sparrow. "I see explosions up ahead" Sapphire said
"The coordinates Ikora gave us are close. Probably just past that fight up ahead" The Ghost said
"Prepare yourself" Ikora advised. "The Cabal are the big aliens carrying shields, and the Vex are the robot ones."
Sapphire got off her sparrow behind a Cabal bunker, and loaded her fusion rifle.
"Alright, try slowing going around, and avoid contact with the Cabal." The Ghost advised.
Sapphire walked behind crates or rocks near the bunker, until she heard some loud footsteps.
"I don't see a way around these Cabal, I guess it's time to fight." The Ghost said
"Throw one of your storm grenades, using your arc energy" Ikora said
Sapphire felt energetic and a ball of arc energy was glowing her right hand.
"Now throw it" The ghost said
Sapphire tossed the arc energy at the Cabal. *zap zap zap*
Sapphire looked over at where the Cabal had been.
"You got them Sapphire" the Ghost said gladly
Sapphire continued to around the Cabal bunker until she saw a cave not far away.
"The coordinates say we should go in there" the Ghost said. "But there's some Vex close by, you'll have to destroy them first"
Sapphire saw the Vex. They looked like big robots with a red eye. Sapphire loaded her shotgun and jumped out at the Vex. *Bang!* She destroyed the first Vex.
"Watch out" The Ghost said. A big Vex Minotaur swung at her
"Whoa!" Sapphire jumped out of the way at the last second. *Bang bang bang* She unloaded her shotgun on the minotaur.
"Use your arc energy on that last Vex" the Ghost said
Sapphire's hands glowed blue and she pointed them towards the Vex. *Zap*
"Nice work" the Ghost said "Now let's head into the cave.
Before entering the cave, Sapphire noticed that the sky had gotten darker, and grey. Not like the night, but like there was a storm coming in.
"This cave is full of Light!" the Ghost said. A lot of the ground in the cave was glowing blue.
"So am I about to become a Warlock?" Sapphire asked.
"Yes, and a Stormcaller" Ikora answered.
"What does it even mean to be a Warlock?" Sapphire asked Ikora
What does it mean to be a Warlock?" Ikora began to explain. "Power. Only Warlocks understand true power. True power lies in knowledge, in understanding. Power chanelled, not controlled."
As Sapphire went through the cave, she could hear thunder coming from outside.
"Those must have been storm clouds" The Ghost said. "I guess that makes sense because you're going to become a Stormcaller."
"What was it like when you became a Stormcaller?" Sapphire asked Ikora
"When I became a Stormcaller, I had been sent to a storm, a hurricane" Ikora said
"That must have been crazy!" the Ghost said
"Yes" Ikora continued "The hurricane battered me with ferocity beyond any foe I had met, battered me harder than the rolling chaos in my mind that drove me here. Calm whispered the Voidwalker. Burn roared the Sunsinger. All I could hear was the impassive voices of my teachers encouraging me to find my path, find it soon, no matter the risk because we can never know when it will be taken away again, when the storm will overtake us. Words buffeting me like the hail that petted my face as I pushed my way through the howling winds, forced my way through the eye of the storm."
"That must have felt tiring" Sapphire said
"At the center, I felt at peace. The Stillness of the hurricane's eye picketed my skin and brought with it realization. We don't have to choose between the calm and the storm. In fact to have either, we must have both. That was the day I first called the storm." Ikora finished her story
Sapphire could feel the energy of the light in the cave. More thunder could be heard from outside, and it was getting louder.
"There's light coming from the celing up ahead." The Ghost said.
There was a hole in the ceiling of the cave. Sapphire could see the stormy sky through it.
"Why do I feel like we're about to get struck by lightning?" the Ghost said
"Remember, the power is channeled, not controlled" Ikora explained. "Harmony within, hurricane without"
You could see the arc energy flowing from the ground to Sapphire's hands, like electricity.
"I think there are Cabal in the cave. We'd better make this quick" the Ghost said "And I can hear more thunder outside"
*Boom boom* *Clash* Lighting struck down through the ceiling of the cave, and hit Sapphire
The Ghost looked but couldn't see sapphire There was just abunch of electricity.
*Zap Zap* Sapphire re appeared.
"Whoa" The Ghost said "Here comes the Cabal. Unleash the storm on them"
Sapphire's hands still had electricity coming out of them. As soon as the Cabal came in, she unleashed electricity on them. *Zap Zap* The Cabal stood no chance.
"You're a Stormcaller, Sapphire. When you're done, come on back to the city. You're friends should be finished with their tests soon." Ikora said
