I'm SO sorry I didn't post this chapter a few days ago!
But the votes are in and it seems that it is a TIE!
Well, Person (Guest) said that they are not sure, but it would make sense to be normal?
Does that count as a vote for normal?
aNywAys, to da REVIEWS!
MrMcCatBagel: Alright, one vote for horror! Thanks for viewing this story often and supporting it, it means a lot to me!
Person (Guest): Yes, I guess it WOULD make sense, because I was mainly aiming for a normal story when I had the idea to make this a fiction.
It's been a while since I updated, but I kind of just reached that spot every author has where you just don't know what to write.
Again, I AM SO SORRY that I didn't post this a few days ago when I should have. I didn't know what to write until now.
Anyways, onto the chappie!
DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN WARRIORS
Frostpaw ran, she had no other plan, so all she did was run. She didn't know what to do, so she ran.
Frostpaw was still trying to process what happened, Blacktail just killed Burningtail, his own Clan-mate, not just somebody from his Clan, but the deputy of SkyClan!
Why? Frostpaw wondered. Blacktail had said something about a promise Burningtail made... a promise that was broken. Frostpaw knew about the Clan talking bad about Blacktail, saying he was a traitor, that he did something against the code... Did Burningtail have something to do with it? The Clan knew Burningtail as the loyal deputy, a good friend you could rely on, who always had your back, and who always put his Clan and the warrior code first.
But what about Blacktail? Blacktail was a silent cat, who was always trying to get attention and prove himself loyal and strong. Sure, his sister: Pineheart, was the medicine cat, but she was also quite insane. Blacktail was an average warrior, who was brave and loyal. Why did the Clan hate him? And if the reason the Clan hated him, might Burningtail have something to do with it?
Frostpaw slowed down, she looked around, but didn't recognize this place at all.
She saw nothing but a dark stretch of pine trees, the forest floor in at least a foot deep of snow. Frostpaw trudged her way through the thick snow. She shivered uncontrollably as she scanned the forest, seeing nothing but darkness. Then a flash of green in the endless black. Frostpaw blinked, seeing it was a pair of green-blue eyes, glaring straight at her... the cat stepped out of the darkness, a tuxedo she-cat with the same eyes, the ghost translucent in the moonlight...
Frostpaw stepped back.
Lunar was gone.
Quickly, Frostpaw ran. She remembered Pineheart's warning: that since Frostpaw knew that Lunar was actually Nightbreeze of ShadowClan, the ghost would no doubt try to kill Frostpaw and Pineheart both-
a paw grabbed Frostpaw by the leg and dragged her into an abandoned fox den, her scream was silenced by the mysterious cat. Frostpaw's eyes adjusted bit by bit to the dark and she saw a slim white she-cat with gray spots...
Comet! Frostpaw realized, eyes widening.
Frostpaw was about to shout out a million questions, but Comet's tail was in Frostpaw's mouth, making her unable to speak.
"Listen, Frostkit, we don't have time for greetings." Comet whispered. "Surely you know Lunar is Nightbreeze, former medicine cat of ShadowClan, right?" Frostpaw nodded helplessly and Comet continued meowing. "Frostkit. Listen to me. You need to fight Blacktail and Lunar and kill them, no matter what the cost. You must do anything to stop them. You hear me? Blacktail wants to take over SkyClan and the other Clans, and Lunar wants to kill me, Pineheart, and you, and destroy ShadowClan for exiling her and leaving her to die. If they both succeed, then the forest will fall. Frostkit, you are the only one who can defeat Blacktail and Lunar. Pineheart is useless in this situation, everyone thinks she's insane already, and she's too scared to help. Right now, tell me everything you found out about Lunar, Blacktail, and whatever horror they are planning."
Comet listened in silence as Frostpaw told her what happened. From Pineheart telling her the truth about Lunar and that she was Comet's mother, that Frostpaw was now medicine cat apprentice, and Blacktail killed Burningtail. She told her what Blacktail had said to Burningtail. "Burningtail broke a promise about something he was supposed to keep secret from the Clan, and some deal about StarClan-knows-what. Whatever Burningtail did, he enraged Blacktail enough so that Blacktail murdered Burningtail- the deputy and his own best friend- in cold blood. Blacktail saw me after he stabbed Burningtail's throat and pushed him off the cliff... He knows that I know what he did, and he'll try to take me down the way he did my father when he gets his first chance."
Frostpaw expected Comet's sullen face to look surprised instead learning that Pineheart was her mother, but Comet's face still showed the same helpless expression, a sign that she must've already known. No... Comet seemed to be deep in thought, as if she'd just figured something out.
"What's wrong?" Frostpaw asked.
"The Dark Forest is planning something. Lunar and Blacktail are working together, Blacktail killed Burningtail to take revenge for something not even I know of. Lunar, however, just wants to destroy ShadowClan and kill me and Pineheart. Yet in Blacktail and Lunar's plan, they are working together to achieve the same goals: revenge and power. Yet two villians can't just take two Clans alone, there has to be another cat in their planning... somebody who is helping them with their evil plans to destroy the forest..." Comet whispered.
"You mean a spy?" Frostpaw asked again. Comet nodded, then shook her head and was silent for a moment.
"Perhaps, a spy that is watching your every move and throwing obstacles in your way to make sure you can't stop the two villains." she finally mewed.
Frostpaw's turned away. "I can't fight Lunar and Blacktail. Blacktail killed Burningtail, my father, a cat who is much stronger than me. And Lunar is a ghost. You think I can kill a ghost that's already dead and find proof that Blacktail killed Burningtail, when I am just a apprentice?! I have nobody to help me, nobody who can protect me on this quest."
Comet nodded. "There is a cat who can help."
Slowly, Frostpaw looked back at Comet.
"His name is Zack. He's Lunar's younger brother, so he knows a lot about Lunar, now he's a kittypet. He lives nearby, I remember what Lunar described him as when we were friends in SkyClan, she said he was a large black tom, with one black ear and one gray ear and one yellow eye and one orange eye, about apprentice-aged." Comet meowed. "He's at the nearby twoleg-place, a different owner used to live there with their cats, they left a long time ago and Zack and his owners moved in. Pineheart can tell you where it is. But remember, there is a spy with Lunar and Blacktail. You can't trust anyone. Not Bloomingflower. Not Oaktail. Not any of the cats in the Clan, even Brightstar."
Frostpaw nodded again. "A-alright..."
"Now head back to SkyClan, before anyone finds out you are gone." Comet told her.
"What about you?" Frostpaw asked.
Before Comet could reply, a yowl sounded outside. Frostpaw recognized the scent of a cat outside. Blacktail... she realized. Then Blacktail crashed into the den, his paws still covered with the blood of Burningtail.
"You." he hissed at the sight of Frostpaw. "You know... you saw everything, did you?"
Frostpaw stood up to his height, which was hard even though she was quite big for an apprentice. "I did. And by sunhigh, you'll be exiled and left as crowfood, traitor. You fox-hearted pile of badger-dung." she said boldly.
Blacktail didn't even flinch. "What I hate most about young cats..." he glared down at Frostpaw. "They think they know everything, that they are the best, that they are the strongest, that they can achieve anything, because that's what their mothers told them as kits. When the truth is we don't get anything. We cats don't get a chance at being medicine cat or deputy or even leader, we all just become warriors on endless patrols, queens stranded in the nursery, and eventually elders rotting away in their den."
He unsheathed his sharp, blood-stained claws and pounced at Frostpaw-
Blacktail's claws stabbed into gray fur instead.
Frostpaw looked up to see Comet in front of Frostpaw like a shield, Blacktail having hit her instead of Frostpaw.
"Go." Comet hissed to Frostpaw, not flinching at Blacktail's attack. "I'll take care of this idiot. You run back to SkyClan."
Frostpaw nodded helplessly and ran off.
COMET POV:
Comet raked her claws at Blacktail's face and he hissed in pain. She struck him again and again, wounds bleeding on his face. Comet unleashed a hard blow at Blacktail, but she missed and Blacktail ducked and kicked her away.
Comet crashed into the wall of the cave. Hard. She groaned, and she wondered if she'd broke her skull. She reached her paw, expecting to feel a lump or a mess of blood, but her head only ached, most likely it was just a bruise or concussion of some sort... Comet's vision was blurry, and she only snapped out of her trance when she saw Blacktail pouncing at her.
She quickly dodged out of the way and stumbled out of the den, which took the fight outside.
Blacktail was gaining ground, he slammed Comet to the ground and scratched her eye. Comet screeched in pain, as Blacktail claws her face. Once, twice, three times... then Comet sank her sharp fangs into his front leg, causing Blacktail to stumble back in shock.
Comet pounced at Blacktail and landed on his back, crushing him to the ground. She swiftly pinned him and scratched his muzzle. But Blacktail kicked her with surprising force, sending Comet crashing into a tree trunk head-first. This time her skull hurt for real.
She felt her vision blur and her mind spinning, her gaze darting around the forest. Where am I? What happened? Who attacked me?... Bit by bit she put the pieces back together, and realized she'd been blinded in her left eye where Blacktail struck her.
Blacktail?
Comet was pinned by him and with still no idea what was happening after being bashed in the head, so all she did was thrash and flail her unsheathed claws, striking anything with terrible accuracy after her eye was clawed out and her skull hit. She almost broke her claws on the tree trunk, managed to hit Blacktail in the shoulder, and then had enough and clawed at his face, getting him in the nose.
Blacktail hissed and fell into the thorn bush nearby, losing his grip on Comet.
Bit by bit, Comet's vision adjusted after the effects of smashing her head into a tree. The shock of this fighting gave way to a storm of pain. Every scratch on her body felt like it was on fire, blood caked her entire fur and she was practically soaked in it. The entire left side of her face was battered and she felt like collapsing. She'd never felt such pain in her life, she could barely even think.
There was still a villain to kill, however.
Comet had to kill Blacktail.
For Pineheart.
For Burningtail.
For Pineheart.
For SkyClan.
Comet was about to lunge at Blacktail when a voice stopped her cold.
"Let me handle her."
"Lunar?..." she whispered. She whirled to face the ghost of the cat she'd murdered a long time ago, the cat who's mission was to kill her. Comet tried to run. She had no strength left. She fell over.
Keep going, Comet, get up... please... SkyClan needs you...
"I can't..." she choked silently to the voice, quiet enough so nobody heard her.
"I c-can't... can't move..." she felt tears running down her face, mixing with the blood on her fur. "I... I c-can't..."
Get up... Get up... get up and fight...
Comet tried to speak, she couldn't. She couldn't move... she couldn't think, she could barely breathe or see... all she felt was pain. The pain had seemed to become a part of her.
Comet sputtered for breath as Lunar stalked towards her. Somebody, somebody please help...
This wasn't fair, wasn't right, Comet thought, as Lunar loomed over her. Comet would die a young warrior. Never having led a full life, never with a mate and kits and family, she'd never get to serve her Clan. Comet was... nothing. No, she was an outcast. She was a former kittypet and the daughter of a medicine cat who everyone thought was insane.
She looked up at Lunar. "Frostpaw k-knows everything... she... she knows w-what... what you're trying to do..." she wheezed for breath.
Get up.
Comet staggered up, only to fall once again. She hissed in agony as Lunar watched in amusement, enjoying the sight of her victim suffering. Comet finally managed to gain balance, she glared at Lunar, Comet's one eye burning with a green fire, purpose filling her body. She felt a rush of strength, and with a screech, pounced straight for Lunar's face. Lunar dodged easily and swiftly, letting Comet crash to the ground.
The effort had drained Comet, and she felt as if she couldn't move again.
Help... she begged herself silently.
Comet could only watch in horror as Lunar loomed over her, a paw over her throat.
"F-Frostpaw will defeat you..." Comet spat. "Y-you'll be dead by the time she tells everyone..."
Lunar smiled, wickedly and cruelly, yet also teasingly. "You think they'll listen to an apprentice?"
Comet couldn't reply, she was too weak and even if she was able to, she didn't know what to say.
Lunar stopped smiling. "Now, you'll know what death felt like for me."
She ripped open Comet's throat.
Comet felt blackness entering her vision, the pain was strong. But for the past few minutes, she'd gotten used to pain. And finally, the pain left her. She opened her eyes, and saw herself lying on the ground, dead. She expected to feel shocked at the sight of herself... and indeed, she did.
Then, Comet took in the silence. The stillness. Finally feeling at peace.
Finally.
Finally, she was free.
Finally, she was at peace.
Finally, she could see her family again.
And she closed her eyes, finally letting herself go, as she drifted into a new life in StarClan...
I felt like crying at the end of making this chapter.
Comet has a sad story, really. If you think about it. Her father was a rogue, and her mother was medicine cat. Not only that, but everyone thought her mother was crazy. Her siblings died, and she was forced to be a kittypet. And when she did go back to SkyClan, nobody really accepted her since she was a kittypet. She never ever got to know Pineheart and Feather were her parents until she died, and she died a new warrior, never having a mate or kits or a full life that she thought she'd have.
Comet is a good friend to Frostpaw, being a vital resource in trying to foil the plans of Lunar and Blacktail. The Clan may have not thought her loyal, since she was a kittypet and refused to change her name, but she was loyal to her friends and Clan in heart. We only got to know her for six chapters.
R.I.P, Comet.
ANYWAYS, since there were BARELY any votes, I guess the voting thing will CONTINUE. SO YOU CAN STILL VOTE FOR IF THIS SHOULD BE A HORROR STORY OR NORMAL STORY, you have until December 1st. The poll in my profile will open back up.
Again, I AM SORRY I DIDN'T POST THIS CHAPTER A FEW DAYS AGO LIKE I SHOULD HAVE. I just didn't know what to write.
Anyways, how'd I do on this chapter? Was it sad, scary, boring, short, or violent?
G'nighty,
-MoonStar of ShadowClan
