Chapter Seven
"Dr. Sloan? Yes, this is Detective Williams with the Seattle Police Department. I need you to come down to the station as soon as possible."
"Okay. I'll head my way there now. Oh, Addison's parents arrived this morning."
"Good. Bring them with you. We have new developments."
Mark and Callie arrived at the station first with a few moments to calm their nerves before Addison's parents arrived.
The conversation didn't go exactly as planned last night… Mark expected them to be upset but he didn't expect the curse out that he received from the both of them. They were blaming him for running her away and said if he didn't, nothing terrible would've happened. Mark understood that they were hurting. Their daughter was missing… so he tried not to take it so hard. Yet it still bothered him to see them face-to-face outside of the police station the next morning.
"Captain, Bizzy," he nodded then opened the door to lead everyone in and over to the main desk. "We're here to see Detective Williams. We're with the Montgomery case."
"Okay," the guy at the desk nods and leads them through the crowd. "I'll take you all to him. Follow me."
He zipped through the crowd of personnel and we eventually made our way into an office. "Detective Williams, Dr. Sloan and Dr. Montgomery's parents are here to see you."
"Come in," he greeted warmly. He shook everyone's hand and said, "Please, have a seat."
"Mark's informed me on what's going on but I'd like to hear what you have to say," the Captain said as he took a seat next to his wife.
The detective nodded leaning forward and taking off his glasses, "I'm going to be honest with you. We have no leads. There's no witnesses. All we have is a partial bootprint and the blood, which we've confirmed is hers, but we are doing everything we can. We're running the print and hoping to have the results from that soon. Until then, we don't have many options."
"I don't understand… There's no witnesses?"
"None have come forward yet."
"Are you offering an award?"
"Yes, uh, ten thousand."
"No wonder no one has come forward…"
"We can't afford anymore," he said apologetically.
The Captain pulled out his checkbook, "One hundred thousand. Put out an offer for that."
"Captain, are you sure?"
"She is my daughter, Mark. I've never been so sure about anything."
