I don't need psychic powers to know what is going to happen next. I watch as Carlisle and Emmett pull their mates behind them, right before Alice and Edward lunge for me and Bella. They're going to regret attacking my Bella. Nobody hurts the Major's mate.

Jasper - JPOV

I send out a massive burst of fear as I step in front of my mate. Alice and Edward drop to the forest floor as I feel my dark side resurfacing. The Major is more than pissed at the moment. No one hurts my Bella. I growl at the two idiots in front of me and say: "She's mine and I'll kill you to protect her."

I smirk as I feel the lust that Bella is sending my way. Edward growls and jumps to his feet again. He moves to the right while trying to get a glimpse of Bella. I pull her close against my back to block his view. Alice gets up as well and starts to move in the opposite direction. I send another burst of fear and agony her way and watch as she falls to her knees once again. Edward rushes to her side and yells: "How can you do this to your own wife?"

I smirk as I stalk toward them. They're getting on my nerves. I want them out of my sight and far away from my Bella. I stare at Alice and she gasps for unneeded air as she looks into my eyes.

"Jazzy, your eyes are black. You need to hunt, that's why you're acting so strangely. You must be so thirsty. Let me help you. I love you, Jazzy."

I stop my approach as I feel Bella's anger spike due to Alice's words. The possessiveness is rolling over her in waves. I throw a glance over my shoulder and watch as Bella rushes to my side and hugs me possessively. A loud growl escapes her lips as she looks at Alice. I can hear the exasperation in Bella's voice as she yells: "He loves me!"

I send her my acknowledgment and love. She's so right. I'm hers and nobody else's. Maybe we should just leave these idiots. Edward shakes his head at Bella's statement and takes a small step forward. He lifts his hands in a calming gesture and says: "That's not true love. Jasper and Alice are married. We were all at their wedding and they love each other very much. He can never be yours. You're not his. You're mine, Bella. Come here."

That does it. I let out a thunderous roar as I leap for Edward. I hit him full in the chest and the sound of two boulders colliding echoes through the forest. He growls as he tries to get a punch in, but the fact that he can't read my mind is hindering him. I land two punches in his gut and watch as he drops to the floor while gasping for unneeded air. I send him a large burst of lethargy to keep him down and walk back to Bella.

God, the look that my Bella is giving me almost makes me come in my jeans. The lust and desire rolling off her make me want to take her right here in front of everyone. I groan as I pull her to my side and whisper in her ear.

"Calm down, pumpkin. I want you just as much but we need to settle this here first."

Alice hisses and I get down in a protective crouch in front of my Bella. Alice's face falls and she lets out a sob, before running to Esme who takes her into her arms and throws me a glare. I don't give a shit. I can feel the emotions that Alice is sending out and believe me, sadness is not one of them at the moment. She's a little manipulative bitch. Carlisle puts a hand on Alice's shoulders and looks at me as he says: "Jasper, son, stop this. You're hurting this family. Look how sad you're making Alice. You're probably just feeling overly protective of Bella. We all know that she's not your mate."

Bella - BPOV

Oh no, he did not just say that. I always thought Carlisle was the smart one, but it seems he's as dumb as the rest of them. I lean into Jasper's embrace and growl at my so-called father.

"You know nothing about our relationship, Carlisle. Who do you think you are to question the bond that Jasper and I share? Who are you to decide that I'm not his mate? You don't have to ability to see bonds, so shut the fuck up."

Jasper purrs very softly into my ear and sends me his love. I look at each of the Cullens, only to realize that they're all looking at us with disbelief in their eyes. I roll my eyes at the lot of them and huff in annoyance. Jasper snickers behind me and places another kiss on the top of my head, before straightening his pose and addressing Carlisle.

"Bella is right, Carlisle. Where I can understand Edward's and Alice's reluctance to accept the bond that Bella and I share, I would have thought you to be the more rational and smarter one. I see that I was wrong. You're as short-sighted as the rest of them. So please, let me shine some light on the matter.

As you know, Bella's blood didn't call to me and I felt the incredible urge to protect her from Edward, just as I protected her from James in Phoenix. I didn't realize at that time why it was so important to me that I was the one that killed James, but I do now. When Bella and I touch each other, electricity flows through us. Her shield instinctively reaches out to protect me, because her soul recognized mine even before the change was complete. We're true mates, whether you like it or not. We don't need your approval to be happy."

I watch them closely as Jasper talks. I shift my focus on Edward as he begins to stir again. He gets to his feet and has trouble finding his balance for a minute. He moves back to the rest of the family and nods at Carlisle, indicating that he is okay. Alice lets out a loud sob and hugs Esme even tighter as she wails:

"You're my husband, Jazzy. We're still married and I know that you still love me."

I smirk at her as Jasper reaches for his back pocket and pulls out the annulment papers. He throws them at her feet and lifts my hand to kiss the engagement ring on my finger. Alice takes one look at the papers and growls loudly. Anger and fury are written all over her face and she's looking straight at me. Carlisle looks at her questioningly as he places a hand on her shoulder.

"What's wrong, Alice?"

She hands Carlisle the papers and waits for him to read them. He sighs as he goes over the documents and gives Alice a pitiful smile.

"It's true, Alice. Your marriage to Jasper wasn't legal. You married a ghost. Jasper is a free man."

Alice pulls the documents out of Carlisle's hands and shreds them into a thousand pieces. Thank god that Jasper has a few copies stashed away at the house.

"I waited for you in that diner and put you back together again. I lived with your awful scars and your constant fuck-ups for decades, while giving you all my love, and this is how you repay me? By fucking the first slut that comes along that is dumb enough to ignore your past? You'll tire of her soon enough and come back running to me because that's where you belong. I've seen it."

Jasper – JPOV

The level of stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me. Peter won't stop laughing for decades when I tell him what Alice just said. Bella however is shaking all over out of pure fury. Suddenly I feel her tensing up and she yells:

"You, bitch!"

I watch in awe as Alice goes flying across the clearing. She crashes into one of the large trees and drops to the ground. I can see the cracks at the side of her face and look at my Bella, who is still standing in my arms with her hands pushed out in front of her. She just sent Alice flying with her gift. God, my Bella is magnificent, she's my own goddess of war. Peter is going to be so pissed that he missed this. I pull her back against my chest and place a kiss on top of her head. The monster inside me purrs content knowing that our mate is special. I lean down and whisper in her ear:

"You're a physical and mental shield, Bella. You're unbelievable."

We watch as Carlisle and Esme rush to Alice's side and help her up. Edward takes a step toward us and stops as I cock one brow at him, silently daring him to take another step. I roll my eyes as I hear the words that come out of his mouth.

"Bella, love, step away from Jasper. He's making you do things that are so out of character for you. This is not you, Bella. Please, come back to me."

Bella hisses and snaps her head in his direction. He takes a small step back as he sees the look on her face. I can feel the anger rising as Bella slowly starts shaking again. I silently run my hand along her back, sending her my love and devotion. It grounds her but doesn't calm her in any way. I watch as Edward takes another step forward and lifts his hands to reach for Bella. I feel her tensing up again and then Edward goes flying through the air. He lands a couple of hundred yards away. I smirk as I turn to Carlisle and say:

"Different to what you may think, we didn't come here to fight. Get your family to behave, Carlisle. You know better than anyone that I am more than capable of defending myself and Bella can hold her own as you can see."

Edward lets out a growl and rushes our way before Carlisle can react. I step in front of Bella and take the brunt of his attack. He gets one good punch in before I can land another one on him. He moves a few steps back and starts circling us. Bella growls softly, as Alice starts circling us too. Bella moves so that we're standing back to back as she keeps a close eye on Alice. I notice that Edward gives Alice a short nod and I realize that he's reading her mind. I hiss as Alice starts to taunt Bella.

"How does it feel to be a man-stealing whore, Bella? Edward wasn't enough for you, no? You had to go after my man too?"

"Don't listen to her, pumpkin. I love you more than anything in this world. I'm yours and you are mine. She's trying to bait you into attacking."

"Oh Jazzy, I couldn't care less about the little slut attacking me. I've seen our future and you and I are destined for each other. Edward and I are going to end this little charade so that we all can go back to normal."

Edward joins in as I focus on Bella's emotions. I'm so proud when I register an unwavering amount of love, trust, and devotion. I send her my undying love in return.

"She's right, Bella. You know better than to bet against Alice, love."

I almost laugh out loud as Bella lets out a burst of annoyance, before saying:

"Oh, shut the fuck up, Edward. She knows shit. Alice can't see a damn vision with Jasper in it, because my shield is blocking them all. I acknowledge that she brought my mate out of the darkness but that's where her role ends. He is mine now, he's my present and my future and I'm never going to give him up. It's time you all accept that."

I feel the shift in Alice's emotions and know that she's going to attack my Bella. I rush toward her and tear her arm off before she has time to lunge. Alice screams in agony and drops to the floor. I smirk as I see the horrid look on Carlisle's face until I realize that he's not looking at me or Alice. He's looking at something behind us.
