It didn't take long to find the entrance to the basement after leaving the living room, the door was just down the hallway, in the side of the stairs. The trio hoped it wasn't locked, otherwise, finding the key would be a chore. Tails did the honors of testing the knob, being curious.

To his and the girls' amazement, the door WAS unlocked. That was a relief, people were amazingly real bad at leaving doors unlocked half the time, especially in haunted mansions. As they set foot down the stairs, Amy, Sticks and Tails heard banging somewhere far down.

"A plumber must be in the area." Sticks speculated, "Maybe a ghost plumber."

"Oh my, Sticks!" Amy exclaimed sarcastically, "That sounds like a conspiracy theory we can all agree with you on for once, how do you figure, my badger BFF?"

"Uh, because plumbers are known for fixing pipes and we've seen a few over the years? Not to mention we actually played a video game involving plumbers from another country?"

"The Super Plumber Brothers." Tails chuckled, "We all love that game, the first game is my favorite and I love the one where they go to space and fight turtle aliens. I have so many favorites, I can't even name them all but there is one character I can name and that's..."

"Can we save the discussing favorites and gushing over that for later?" Amy pinched the fox, "We have to stay absolutely focused on what we're supposed to be focused on and solve some mysteries in this place, Sonic and Knuckles are here and they may be in trouble."

The group walked down the stairs and descended into the basement, flashlights on as they scanned the dusty walls. As Amy, Tails and Sticks continued deeper and deeper into the basement, the banging got louder and louder and then they heard muttering.

Listening closely, the muttering sounded ghostly, as if the person working on pipes was a spirit of some sort. Whoever it was, whomever was doing the banging, it sounded like the job was a bit tough and hard to get done so the mystery pipe banger probably needed a bit of help.

Their Ghost Vacuums at the ready and flashlights on, the trio made their way further down the stairs until they were in the dark, metallic and filthy basement, looking around at the pipes and the ceiling cobwebs. The noise was even louder than ever before, much clearer too.

Amy, Tails and Sticks tiptoed their way in the direction the noise was coming from, the flashlights dimly lighting the area up, cutting through the darkness. The area got wider until they saw a large heater, piles of dust bunnies and a couple shelves.

Taking a good close look at the heater, the trio gasped. Right there, hitting it with a wrench, was a ghostly being wearing overalls. Walking up closer, they could see that he looked badger-ish to judge by the tail and, of course, the hairstyle.

"Um, hi!" Sticks called, "Mr. Repairman? What you're doing doesn't seem to be working very well, you can stop banging now. The heater looks fine."

The ghost stopped banging, put down the wrench and turned to face the gang. His eyes were yellow and he had a scraggly beard, he wore a hat over his head that covered his ears. The Basement Ghost looked at Sticks, then looked at Amy and Tails, ignoring the Ghost Vaccs.

"You've come to help?" The ghostly badger asked, "Its been ages since I had assistance, I thought I could do my job by myself." His face turned pink, "Oh I'm sorry, let me introduce myself. My name is Fixer the Badger, I've been here a while. And you three are...?"

Amy, Tails and Sticks introduced themselves with Amy being the one to shake Fixer's hand, asking him about who he was and why he was stuck down here. The ghost began to tell his story: He was a repairman for hire and had wandered the island in search for people who needed help.

Fixer had been called by someone one day, the person on the phone being the mansion's owner, asking for assistance with the heater in the basement. Fixer had obliged and come straight away, curious about the mansion and wondering how the owner knew about him.

When he'd taken a look at the heater and the basement, the repairman had been surprised by out of order and messy it all was. Fixer had set to work, trying to get everything clean and trying to repair the busted up heater. However, when he tried to fix it, the heater exploded in his face.

Due to mysterious and strange unearthly powers, Fixer "recovered" and got back to work, not noticing that the heater had eventually been repaired. In fact, he was conscious that he had been somehow forced to bang on it and the pipes for all eternity.

"Well, now that we're here," Amy said in a nice, bubbly manner, "We can help you. Your services aren't needed anymore, Mr. Fixer. Let us put you to rest, please cooperate and you will rest in peace. You don't have to bang on stuff anymore or worry about what needs to be fixed."

The badger man nodded in agreement, "Yes, I agree. The time has come for me to finally leave this world and rest in peace, see my loved ones again. Feel free to turn on your devices and, I guess I'm gonna get sucked up in there like you may have done with other spirits here?"

The trio nodded and Fixer the Badger set down his wrench, opening his arms wide as the Ghost Vacuums turned on, his eyes shut as he felt the force of the vacuum cleaners suck him inside. When Fixer opened his eyes, he found himself in an unknown space.

He wasn't alone, he soon found himself interacting with three green eyed yellow ghosts and with a ghostly sailor and a ghost captain. The ghosts all laughed and embraced each other, in the world outside the vacuum cleaners, Tails and the girls high fived and started to leave the basement.

It was time to explore another room...
