Dazai and Chuuya had ended up falling asleep with their heads laying next to Atsushi's legs. It was an uncomfortable position and they would surely wake up with sore backs. As they slept the door to Atsushi's hospital room opened up to reveal Yosano. She needed to take the were tiger's vitals to see if he had worsened or had gotten better. She stared at the two alphas that were asleep and glared. She still hadn't forgiven them for what they had done. It would be a long while before anyone forgave them but they would eventually. Yosano walked over to Atsushi's IV to make sure it didn't need to be replaced. She took his vitals and everything turned out normal. She stared at the young omega with a soft look, hoping that Atsushi would wake up soon. Everyone was worried about him and scared that this might end extremely badly. Sighing she looked at the alphas that were still asleep, they had really messed up but she hoped that they could fix this and bring Atsushi back to them.
A week later
It had been several days since Atsushi was admitted to the hospital and there was no improvement but things weren't getting worse. Dazai and Chuuya were getting nervous and scared as the days went by. Their thoughts were running wild. Thinking that it was too late and they were going to lose their precious omega and soulmate. Everyday they would check Atsushi's soulmark only to find no difference in it. It was still almost completely gone. Both of them wouldn't leave Atsushi's side. The alpha's barely ate and slept as they wanted to keep a close eye on him. Dazai and Chuuya had not moved from their position until someone would drag them away to get them to eat and bathe.
"I need more coffee. You want some?" Chuuya stood up sluggishly glancing at the ex-mafioso. He watched him nod his head, not taking his brown eyes off of their younger soulmate.
Dazai watched Chuuya leave before looking back at Atsushi. His face went blank as his thoughts continued to run. He was trying to make a plan, and was trying to figure out what the best course of action was to help Atsushi. He had never been so lost in trying to figure out the best course of action. Granted he was never good with relationships and the emotions that came with them. He gripped onto Atsushi's hand tighter and prayed to whatever being there was to help Atsushi get better. He wanted the chance to fix this mistake. He leaned over Atsushi and brushed his long bang behind his ear and placed a gentle kiss onto his forehead. He then rested his forehead onto Atsushi's and sighed.
"I love you Atsushi. Please wake up. Chuuya and I want to make it up to you but you need to wake up. We promise to be better alphas. So please come back to us." Dazai spoke with a crack in his voice. He wiped his face of emotion and sat back down when he heard the door to the room open. He turned to see his alpha soulmate grumbling to himself.
"Were they out of coffee again?" He questioned. The two of them had been drinking as much coffee as they could so they were awake enough to watch over their omega.
"Yes. They had to have someone go to the store as apparently we have depleted their 2 week supply in 3 days." Chuuya rubbed the back of his head as he sat back down next to Atsushi's side. He grabbed the sleeping boy's hand, placing a soft kiss onto it. He really wished he knew what was keeping Atsushi under and what was going through his mind at this moment. He hoped that Atsushi could hear the both of them talking to him while he slept.
It was dark when Atsushi opened his eyes. He looked around and noticed he was floating in a black void with no light in sight. He wasn't freaked out if anything he had never felt so relaxed or content than he did in that moment. He didn't know how he got here, all he could remember was going to give Kunikida one of his reports and everything going black. He didn't know where he was but he could swear he heard voices that sound just like Dazai and Chuuya. But would the two of them be doing here. The last time he checked they wanted nothing to do with him. As he thought about this a light had suddenly shone in front of him. As he focused on it he could see an image coming into focus. It was weird as he could see himself laying in a hospital bed looking sick and pale. Next to his body was his soulmates. He was confused as how could he be here looking at himself and in a hospital bed. He watched the people who were sitting next to hospital him become clearer and realized it was his two alphas. This was definitely weird as he watched the executive and the ex-mafioso talk to his body.
Listening in he was able to gather that he was actually in a coma but how did that happen. He tilted his head as he continued to watch as it seemed a couple days went by in reality. He guessed that he was having something similar to an out of body experience as he observed Dazai and Chuuya never leaving his side unless forced to. His widened when he noticed Chuuya crying when Dazai had fallen asleep one night. He didn't understand as he thought Chuuya didn't care about him. He was even more confused when he saw Dazai get choked up when talking to him while the redhead was asleep. He thought his alphas wanted nothing to do with him and would be better off without him. But watching the two of them take care of him and being so upset told a different story. He had to look away as didn't want to get his hopes up. He didn't want to hope that if he came back that he would have his soulmates there for him. He didn't want to be hurt again. He didn't want to go through the pain of not having the two of them by his side. He continued to ignore what was happening until one night when he heard the both of them start speaking.
"Dazai, when Atsushi wakes up we need to be by his side constantly. We need to make sure that he knows we love him. He needs….he needs to know that we won't leave him all alone again." He heard his older alpha tell Dazai, this is what made his ears perk up as this was the first time he heard them discussing what they were going to do if he woke up.
"That's if he wakes up Chuuya. There is no guarantee that he will wake up. He could be stuck like this forever and it will have been our fault." Dazai explained as he didn't want to hide behind the fake mask of hope and his normally stoic and carefree facade. He didn't have the energy anymore. Atsushi turned around only to watch Dazai's eyes dull into a muddled brown. His instincts were wanting him to call out and say he was right here that he hadn't gone anywhere. They were also telling him to go to his alphas and comfort them. He could practically feel the hopelessness and sadness coming off of his normally cheerful alpha.
"No! Don't you dare give up hope now Dazai! He will wake up! He will be fine and we will show him how much he means to us! He deserves for us to believe in him! He has to be alright Dazai. He has to." Chuuya had trailed off as tears filled his eyes. He couldn't keep talking as he too was feeling hopeless that Atsushi would never get better. He didn't want to believe that. Atsushi noticed Dazai had stood up to walk over to their soulmate. Dazai had pulled Chuuya into a hug and buried his face into the older male's red hair. Chuuya in turn buried his face into the taller's chest and cried. He cried out everything he had been holding back so he could focus solely on their omega.
Atsushi could feel himself tear up at his alphas reactions. He didn't realize that he had meant so much to them. This was so disorienting as if they loved him so much why did they ignore him. Why did they leave him all alone? Yeah he didn't think he deserved them but he still longed for them. Still loved them. He was hesitant to go back to them as he didn't know if anything would change. Yeah the two alphas seemed distraught about his condition but who is to say that they won't leave again after he is better. He noted that Chuuya had calmed down and the both of them were staring at his sleeping body.
"Atsushi, I don't know if you can hear us or even know that we are but if you are just listen. We are both fools Dazai and I. We didn't even consider what you were going through with us not being there. We didn't consider your feelings. We only thought of ourselves and what we wanted. We thought we were protecting you but instead we hurt you severely. Atsushi please let us show you that we love you and want you in our lives. Please Atsushi wake up. Come back to us. We need you. I don't care if you are angry when you wake up. I don't care if it takes forever to gain back your trust just please wake up." Chuuya's voice was hoarse and cracking as he gave his little speech to the sleeping omega. Chuuya felt the arms around him tighten before he felt them let go of him. He turned to look at Dazai and saw that Dazai's eyes were covered by his bangs.
"Atsushi." Dazai started but stopped; he knew he needed to be honest and needed to tell his omega how he felt. He noticed that tears were slowly falling down his cheeks as he walked closer to the were tiger.
"Atsushi, I know I am not the best at emotions or at anything that involves being truly honest with myself or others. Please bear with me. Atsushi when I first met you I knew there was something special about you, I just didn't know what. I remember falling in love with you as time went on and I couldn't figure out why. That was until I touched you for the first time on the boat. It was then that I understood why I was feeling the way I did when you stopped me from jumping into the river. I-I am sorry Atsushi. I thought what me and Chuuya were doing was for the best. I thought you would be better off without me. I didn't want to take the chance that I would end up hurting you. But here we are now you hurting because of us both. Please Atsushi wake up so I can tell you how much you mean to me. How much I need you and Chuuya in my life. Please wake up and come back to us." Dazai held back the sobs that threatened to come to the surface as he spoke. He really fucked up this time and there might be no way to fix it. He didn't want to be the reason one of his soulmates died. He just wanted to protect them from himself.
Atsushi's eyes widened further as he heard Dazai and watched how distressed he was. He needs to get back to his alphas, he needs to tell them that he loved them. That he wanted to be by their sides forever. He looked around trying to figure out how to wake up. He needed to wake up. He desperately floated around the void looking for a way out. As he was looking for a way out he didn't notice the two alphas placing a gentle tear stained kiss to his lips.
"We love you Atsushi. Please let us love you even more and come back to us."
Atsushi closed his eyes as tears fell. He had never wanted to leave a place so much before not even when he was in a life and death situation. He cried as he couldn't find a way to wake up. He cried until he felt weak and weightless. He kept his eyes closed as he continued to float. He didn't notice that feeling started to come back to his body and that he felt heavier than when he first woke up in that abyss. When he opened his eyes next he had to shut them immediately as the light in the room was too bright. It took a minute before it clicked into his head. He was back in his body! He slowly opened his eyes again to see his alphas hugging each other with tear stained faces.
After Dazai's speech Chuuya pulled him into a hug as he knew they both needed to ground themselves. They need to support each other so they could stay strong for their omega. As they hugged each neither noticed dull purple golden eyes open and stared at them. They didn't know that Atsushi had finally woken up after almost 2 weeks of being in a coma.
"D-Dazai. C-Chuuya."
