Chapter 7 - Consequences

"Sitri, you can threaten me, try to manipulate me, fight me, insult me, but..."

...

"Don't pry into my life."

Said Ryūno walking out of the student council room, leaving everyone in an eerie silence.

"...Well, he's certainly a friendly individual." Tsubaki commented with sarcasm.

"Indeed, we should keep an eye on him, regardless of what he says, he might be a serious threat to us in the near future." Rias said.

"True, especially considering we haven't even seen him fight once since the day we've met him. But knowing he has the forbidden gear, I doubt he's some simple brute." Sona agreed.

"Uhh...guys? Can you fill me in, what is the 'Forbidden Sacred Gear' exactly?" Saji asked confused.

"Yeah, I mean, we're still sorta newbies, after all, some insight wouldn't hurt, right?" Issei asked.

The rest of their peerages agreed, the only ones who really knew about the gear were Sona, Tsubaki, Rias, and Akeno, and even their knowledge was limited.

"We're not surprised none of you don't know, even we high-class devils have limited knowledge on it, and unless Ryūno fills us in, I doubt we're gonna know much more." Rias replied to her pawn.

Tsubaki: "Well, from what we know, anyway. The forbidden sacred gear was one of the most powerful to exist, it granted the user immense magical capabilities, there was a reason on why it was classified as a Longinus tier."

"Okay, but...why's it called 'The Forbidden Sacred Gear'?" Issei asked.

"The reason it's called that is because it allowed the wielder to steal the opponent's strength, and allow the user to keep it, for seemingly forever." Sona replied.

"That sounds powerful, must be pretty nice to have something like that."

"It is, but..."

Sona took off her glasses and started wiping them with a cloth.

"What is it, president?" Saji asked Sona worriedly.

"It comes with one drawback, if the person absorbs more power than the host's body can handle, the host's mindscape will deteriorate, the host will proceed to go mad and lose himself to insanity." Sona replied whilst putting her glasses back.

"And if the host refuses to absorb power entirely, the dragon inside the sacred gear will take control of the host, and turn the host into a monster." Rias said, which Issei got scared at.

"So it's not like he can just safeguard himself and refuse to do it, he has to rob power, it is the curse and the gift of his sacred gear." Akeno added.

"It was announced forbidden by the current Satans roughly four years ago, so that no one will be able to wield it. And the sacred gear hasn't shown itself since then."

"That is...until now." Rias said, as they all looked out the window to see Ryūno walking out of the school, his coat-cape floating in the wind as he walks.

Ryūno kept walking, slowly, his face having his usual stoic expression, but this time with his eyes slightly narrowed and tinted with a bit of an orange and red glow. Rias' and Sona's peerage saw how both of their Kings were tense, and that made them all the more worried as well.

Rias: 'Ryūno...'

Sona: 'The Dragon Emperor...'

Sona/Rias: 'Just what are you capable of..?'

They both thought as Ryūno kept walking.

Scene Change, Kuoh Town, 2:34 PM GST, Ryūno's POV

"Partner, do you not think you were a bit too quick there, revealing me like that?" Doragonzu asked.

"There's no point, Doragonzu. Eventually, the whole underworld will know you're back, and when they do..."

"I'll make a statement, no one will dare stand in my way, not Azazel, Micheal, and not even Sirzechs will dare cross paths with me." Ryūno reassured.

'hihihi...hahahaha...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!' Doragonzu started laughing loudly in Ryūno's head.

'What's so funny?'

'Heh, don't worry. It's just that...in all millennia, I've never seen someone as ambitious as you, my dear partner! Most of them were really simple-minded, you know. Heh, one fool even tried selling it for money, but you...'

'I'm simply looking to prove my place in the supernatural world, Doragonzu. I don't seek world domination, not to control anyone, I only exist here to show everyone else my power, so that I can feel like I really belong in this world.'

'You truly are an interesting partner, maybe you were chosen, after all...'

As Doragonzu said that, Ryūno made it home.

"Partner, do you not still have classes, why are yo-" he was cut off.

"That's strange, I don't sense Kuroka in there anymore."

"Partner, she doesn't expect you to be back home yet. She probably just went outside, maybe explore the town for a bit."

"Yeah...but the thing is, even if she did, I did tell her that there are fallen angels roam the area looking for stray devils, and Sitri can probably sense that she's on both of Gremory and Sitri territory as well."

"She's a nekomata, partner. Nekoshou to be exact. Meaning she's also a senjutsu master, I think she'll be fine. There's a reason she's an SS class stray."

"The 'stray part' doesn't exactly reassure me, Doragonzu."

"Relax, partner. Besides, you did give her your seal, she'll summon you if she needs it."

"...Yeah, you're right. I only came back home to get 3 books that I forgot, anyway." Ryūno said as he put them in his backpack.

Ryūno was about to walk out of his house when suddenly...his seal began to flash orange.

...

"Partner, she's calling you."

"Oh boy, did you just jinx me..."

20 minutes ago, Kuroka POV, East side of Kuoh

"Man, there's a lot of great spots in this town, I wonder if he'll want to-"

'Something is there...' She thought to herself.

She sensed something, and instantly, she saw something that scared her immensely.

12 fallen angels surrounded her, all with holy weapons and light spears ready.

"Well, well, well. Look what we've got here, a stray! And not just any stray...Kuroka. The SS class stray, who killed her master." One of the fallen angels said.

"You've got nowhere to run, I wonder how much Azazel and Sirzechs would pay for your head."

"Hehehehe, boy are you doomed!"

"She's pretty cute too, don't mess her up too badly, I wanna have some fun with her afterward ~." One fallen angel said licking his lips.

"I get whatever is left of her body."

At this point, Kuroka was starting to get worried, she was strong, but 12 fallen angels, albeit low class, was no easy feat.

4 of the fallen angels rushed over to her with holy weapons, as they did that, Kuroka summoned 4 magic circles to emmit senjutsu magic projectiles at them, 2 of them were caught in them, falling to the ground, the other 2 however, managed to dodge and get closer to her.

Slice! One of the fallen had used a holy knife to slice Kuroka's leg, which she flinched at.

Kuroka growled and summoned more magical attacks, seeing as how she wasn't very proficient in hand-to-hand combat.

The other 8 fallen angels were attacking from a distance as well, throwing light-spears at her, which Kuroka managed to dodge, except for two. One in her leg and the other in her shoulder, which had made her kneel to the ground.

"Heh, we heard you were strong, but from what I'm seeing...I'm disappointed."

"Well, might as well inform Azazel that we've caught her."

"Wait, not yet! Let's keep her for now, I bet I could do all sorts of things to her~"

Kuroka, remembering that Ryūno gave her his seal, made one last desperate attempt to summon him. She said the exact words Ryūno told her to say.

"Doragon no ikari ga watashi ni kimasu." Kuroka said somewhat quietly, just barely enough for the fallen angels to heal her.

"Hey, what's she doing?"

"She's casting a spell, everyone, back up!" As the fallen angels spread out.

...

But nothing happened.

The fallen angels looked at each other confused.

"Oh well. I guess it was for naught."

Scene change, Ryūno POV.

"Well, guess I'm skipping a class, or two." Ryūno said to himself, getting ready to teleport.

As he arrived where Kuroka's location was, he saw a rather, familiar, and disturbing sight.

Nine.

Nine fallen angels.

Surrounding someone he cared about.

'That someone there was standing there, was Ryūno. His mouth was agape, his hair covering his left eye, he breathed, taking it all in, hoping this was some sort of sick nightmare.

But it wasn't.

It was all real, his best friend, brother figure, was gone forever.

'Believe in me, Ryūno-bro! I'm going to enroll in Kuoh Academy next year. We'll get to see each other again someday! I was a bit sad when you moved away, but it's okay, we'll get to spend some more time together later, okay?' his voice was heard in Ryūno's head.

It's as if he lost all his thought process in that very moment.

There was an eerie silence between all nine of them, no one daring to move, until...'

Ryūno breathed in and out.

"I must help her. Doragonzu."

"Yes, partner."

"So anyway, what are we gonna do with-" The fallen angel was cut off by a roar.

And not just any roar.

A dragon roar.

"Wh-what was that?" one fallen angel asked.

"I-I don't see it anywhere."

"Show yourself!"

Kuroka wondered if that was Ryūno, until all of them saw something that made them crawl back in fear.

A big dragon, purple and black, with menacing red eyes, looking at the fallen angels and Kuroka.

"Tch, g-get your own prey, monster!"

"You...are my prey!"

"Attack him, everyone!" The fallen angels proceeded to throw light spears.

To only see them going right through the spirit dragon.

"W-what, can we not hit him?" One of the fallen angels asked in fear.

"Of course you cannot, you need to use magical attacks, not physical ones. Pathetic fools!"

As the dragon said that, he charged towards them, biting at least 3 fallen angels in half at the blink of an eye.

"I-Idiots, do something!" But to no avail. There was nothing they could do, they could use magical attacks, but they were low-class, so it barely did any damage, if any at all to the dragon.

"Playtime...is over! Little ones!" The dragon said as he breathed out fire, killing at least 4 angels.

"C-can, can we really not do anything against it?! Is this how I'm gonna die..?"

The dragon flew up in the air, roaring, casting a heaving lighting storm to rain down on the remaining fallen angels, with only one remaining standing.

The fallen angel was shaking, breathing heavily, having just seen his comrades die in front of his eyes.

"P-please, spare me! I beg of you, I'll do anything!"

The dragon could only laugh at his statement, sending a shiver down the fallen angel's spine.

Before the fallen angel could be any further, the dragon spirit went right through him, absorbing the very little power that he had left.

"Aura Purloin..."

The screams of the angel could be heard as it slowly and painfully died, before eventually falling to the ground, void of any life.

Kuroka watched the whole fight in awe, she was amazed, but at the same time, she feared for her own life as well.

Soon after the dragon was done with the fallen angel, it's head descended near Kuroka, very close to her body.

"Mnn..." Was the only sound audible from Kuroka, it was clear that she was in pain, as well as terrified.

The dragon soon later transformed into something she had not expected.

It was Ryūno.

Kuroka was laying against a tree, injured and bleeding.

"R-Ryūno?"

He walked over to her, examining her wounds.

"..." He stared at her.

"H-hi, ehehehe..." Kuroka giggled nervously.

Ryūno only sighed, and used one of his spells to heal her, albeit not fully.

"Sorry, this is as good as it gets from me. I didn't practice many spells, I mostly trained in offense, not support."

"T-that's fine, thanks for that. My senjutsu will be able to take care of the rest, once I recover a bit."

Ryūno proceeded to put one of her hands on his shoulder, and his hand on her waist to help her stand up.

He looked at her, and proceed to look at her with a face that screamed 'I'm disappointed in you.'

"Y-yeah, sorry, I guess I went a little bit too far, nya." Her way of speaking was way quieter than usual, it almost sounded like a whisper.

"...So are you okay, or what?" Ryūno asked closing his eyes.

"I'm...fine." She said as she nearly stumbled to the ground, if not for Ryūno holding her up.

"I can tell. We're going back to my house, you can recover there. And do not go anywhere besides there, for now, at least. Is that understood?"

Kuroka only nodded and smiled weakly at him.

"Good, now let's head home, my...beloved." He said the last part a bit quieter than usual.

"My..what, nya?" Kuroka heard him, but she wanted to hear it again.

"You heard me, now let's get going."

To be continued...
