Chapter 15

(Barry's apartment)

Barry and Kara D were asleep in bed, the latter's head resting on the former's chest as their naked bodies were covered with the sheet. Their clothes were scattered on the floor.

Barry opened his eyes as he woke up and smiled lovingly at Kara's peaceful form. He stroked her blonde hair and ran his fingers down the smooth, yet nigh-invulnerable, skin on her back. He hadn't expected their friendship to become more than just that, and while he was willing to move forward with her and she felt the same way, there was still the question of how a romantic relationship between two people who lived on different Earths could work that lingered in his mind. While the plan had been to return to Earth-1 once Reign was dealt with, he was now considering staying on Earth-38 permanently, but felt conflicted due to not wanting to completely abandon his own universe. Then again, it wasn't like he couldn't visit Cisco, Caitlin, Oliver, Joe, Wally, and even Iris whenever he wanted, so maybe moving to another Earth on a permanent basis wouldn't be too bad. This was something he would need to think more about and discuss with others before making a decision.

Kara stirred with a moan and opened her eyes as she woke up too.

"Good morning, Girl of Steel," Barry said, smiling lovingly at her.

"Morning, Scarlet Speedster," Kara replied, smiling back at him.

"How did you sleep?" Barry asked.

"I slept okay," Kara answered, as she and Barry sat up in the bed. "For the last few days, I've been thinking about what you told me. About how the Speed Force tasked you with keeping me from a crossing a huge line and ruining one of my friendships, probably the one I have with Lena, and it occurred to me. How much have I really been a friend to Lena these last two years?"

"What do you mean?" Barry asked.

"I was pretty upset when I found out she was housing Sam for weeks without telling anyone and that she still had kryptonite even though she told me there wasn't anymore," Kara explained. "The thing is, I got mad at her for keeping secrets when I'm doing the same thing."

"You mean your secret as Supergirl? But you're keeping it from Lena to protect her, which is not a bad thing," Barry said.

"So I've managed to convince myself," Kara said. "But what if keeping the fact that I'm Supergirl from Lena to protect her is just an excuse? What if the real reason I haven't told her is because I've just been afraid of how she'd react? Or afraid that I'd lose her trust?"

"So what are you saying?" Barry asked.

"I want to tell Lena that I'm Supergirl," Kara admitted.

"But?" Barry asked, picking up on the uncertainty in her voice.

"I'm not sure if I could go through with it," Kara said. "Lillian Luthor once told me that, if Lena ever found out that I was Supergirl, she would be devastated and she would lump me in with every other person in her life that's betrayed her." She sighed deeply. "What do you think, Barry? Should I tell Lena or not?"

Barry also sighed. "First of all, I wouldn't put too much stock into what someone like Lillian Luthor thinks. Secondly, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to reveal your secret to Lena, although I will offer some advice. If you're really serious about wanting to tell her, it's better that you do so sooner than wait any longer than you already have."

"Speaking from experience?" Kara wondered.

"Back in my first year as The Flash, there was a time when everyone in my circle except Iris knew my secret," Barry explained. "And when Iris found out..."

"She didn't take it well," Kara finished.

"That's an understatement," Barry nodded. "At the time, I wish I'd told Iris who I was sooner despite Joe's wishes to keep it from her, but in retrospect, she didn't deserve to know about me after the fit she threw upon finding out."

"You think Lena would have a similar fit?" Kara asked, worriedly.

"I don't think so," Barry shook his head. "From what I've seen, Lena is much more mature than Iris. If Iris came around and got over her anger, I'm sure Lena will too."

Kara smiled in appreciation. "What would I do without you, Barry Allen? You always manage to say the right things that make me feel better."

"It's one of my jobs," Barry smiled back, as he leaned towards her and they kissed passionately.

A few seconds later, their kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door. Barry and Kara sped out of bed and, in an instant, they were in their clothes with Kara wearing her glasses. They approached the door and Barry opened it to see Kara Kent standing on the other side. She was also in regular clothes, wearing a brunette wig that concealed her blonde hair and a pair of glasses.

"Kara," Barry greeted her.

"I made breakfast if you two are hungry," Kara K offered, before turning to Kara D. "It's the least I could do since you're letting me stay in your apartment while I'm here."

"Sure," Barry nodded, with a grin.

"You know us, if there's one thing Barry and I share, it's our love for food," Kara D added, also grinning.

"Well, hopefully I made enough," Kara K said.

Barry and Kara D stepped out of the former's apartment as Barry closed the door behind them. They followed Kara K to Kara D's apartment across the way and entered. On the table in the kitchen area were plates of waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausages, a bowl of fruit, and a pitcher of orange juice.

"Wow, this looks so delicious!" Kara D gushed. "You didn't have to do all of this!"

"Like I said, it was the least I could do," Kara K said, as she, Kara D, and Barry each grabbed a plate and started helping themselves to the food. "The pancakes and waffles may be a little burnt and crispy, but they're not exactly my specialty."

"Don't worry, that makes two of us," Kara D said in understanding. "I'm not exactly a master chef either."

"The waffles and pancakes don't look that bad," Barry assured her.

"Thanks," Kara K said.

They sat down at the table and started eating their breakfast.

"So you and Barry, are you two together?" Kara K asked her counterpart. "By 'together', I mean dating."

"Sort of," Kara D answered. "It's just something we're trying at the moment. Nothing too serious."

"And there's the fact that we live in two different different universes," Barry pointed out.

"I can see how that could complicate things," Kara K said in understanding. "You guys want my two cents? I think you guys would make an awesome power couple. And if it's truly meant to be, you'll find a way to make it work somehow."

"What about you, Kara? Any boyfriends?" Kara D asked.

"There was this one guy named Henry James Olsen with whom I had a brief relationship, but it didn't work out," Kara K said.

Kara D frowned incredulously. "Henry James Olsen? I'm guessing he's your Earth's James or a relative or something."

"We did call him Jimmy when he was alive, but it turned out that his first name was actually Henry while Jimmy is actually his little brother who currently works at the Daily Planet with Kal and Lois," Kara K explained.

"Like James," Kara D noted. "He used to work at the Daily Planet too. And I was in a relationship with him before."

"So this Henry guy is dead now?" Barry asked Kara K.

"He's the one who was killed by Davis Bloome," Kara K said, with sadness.

"The guy who was split from Doomsday with black kryptonite," Barry said.

"Yeah," Kara K nodded. "Davis was in love with Kal's friend Chloe, who was in a relationship with Jimmy at the time. But Chloe didn't feel the same way since she loved Jimmy, so Davis murdered him."

"That's horrible," Kara D gasped, as she and Barry looked horrified.

"Yeah," Kara K sighed. "I feel bummed I never got to say goodbye to Jimmy or attend his funeral since I was off-world at the time of his death." She picked up her phone as she received a text and looked at the screen. "It's Conner. He's back with the black kryptonite."

Barry, Kara D, and Kara K were now in their superhero suits as they met Superboy, Tess, and Earth-21 Superman on the rooftop of the D.E.O. building.

"Is that the black kryptonite?" Kara D asked, eyeing the small lead box in Conner's hands.

"It is," Conner nodded.

"And this is the crystal that will send Reign to the Phantom Zone," Clark said, holding up a small crystal containing the House of El emblem.

"Will it work in another universe?" Kara K asked.

"There's only one way to find out," Clark said.

"Let's get to Lena's lab," Kara D said, before she, Kara K, Conner, and Clark flew off while Barry sped after them.

(L-Corp)

"Lena," Kara D greeted, as she, Barry, Clark, Kara K, Conner, and Tess entered the lab.

"Supergirl," Lena replied, also smiling. She regarded Clark, noticing he wasn't quite the Superman she knew. "You must be another Superman from another Earth."

"He's from our Earth to be exact," Tess said.

"Kal, this is my friend Lena Luthor," Kara D said.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Luthor," Clark said politely, as he shook Lena's hand.

Conner stepped forward and opened the lead box, showing Lena the solid black rock inside. "This is it. The black kryptonite."

"How is it gonna work?" Lena asked.

"You simply stick it on Reign's chest, and she and Sam will separate," Conner explained.

"That doesn't sound difficult," Lena said.

"It can't be done by me, Conner, Kara, or Kara though," Clark pointed out. "Any Kryptonian who has even a moment of physical contact with the black k will immediately be affected. Trust me, none of us want that."

"I'll do it then," Barry nodded in understanding.

"All right," Conner nodded back, handing the lead box to Barry. "Remember, just put it on her chest."

"Should be a piece of cake," Barry nodded again.

"Let's hope that's the case," Tess said.

"Let's get started," Kara D instructed.

"Whatever you're planning, it will never work."

The heroes and Lena turned to Reign, who was still restrained to the gurney with the kryptonite cuffs. She was unmasked as she glared at them.

"When I'm free, I'm gonna kill every last one of you, and when that's done, I'm gonna crack this planet in half..."

Lena pressed a command on her tablet and a barrier appeared around Reign's containment area as Reign cried out in pain.

"Okay, we don't need to hear that," Lena said.

"What was that?" Barry asked.

"It's a refractive scatter-field," Lena explained. "She can't see us now."

"Even with x-ray vision?" Conner asked, before he, Clark, and Kara D tried to use their x-ray vision on the barrier, only for all three to groan in pain simultaneously.

"That answers that question," Clark said.

"The wavelength interference of the force field hurts any Kryptonian that looks at it, and the shock seems to keep her in check," Lena explained.

"Unfortunately, for the split to properly work, we're gonna have to unbind her from the kryptonite cuffs or the human in her may get injured upon separation," Clark stated.

"We'll make this as quick as possible," Conner added. "Between all of us, we can keep her restrained the moment she's loose."

"That shouldn't be necessary," Lena said. "If Reign tries to attack, I'll incapacitate her."

"All right," Kara D nodded. "Take down the barrier."

Lena pressed a command on her tablet and the barrier around Reign's containment area vanished.

Barry, Clark, Conner, Kara D, Kara K, and Tess headed over to Reign, who glared hatefully at the assembled heroes. Clark, Conner, Kara D, and Kara K took a few steps back as they felt the effects of the kryptonite from the cuffs.

"That's right, free me," Reign sneered. "I can't wait to kill you all."

"You won't have the chance," Barry retorted.

"You're not hurting anyone ever again," Kara D stated.

"Your reign of terror is over," Conner added.

"Because where we're sending you, there's no escape," Clark finished.

Barry undid the kryptonite cuff around Reign's right wrist. Once he took it off, he sped to the other side of Reign and started removing the cuff that was around her left wrist, while Tess firmly held down Reign's free right arm to prevent her from trying to attack. Fortunately, due to the small circular device with a green glow attached to Reign's chest, she was still very weak.

As soon as Barry removed the left cuff, he quickly grabbed the black kryptonite out of the lead box and placed it on the center of Reign's chest. Upon contact, the rock glowed brightly with a purple light and the same purple light emanated from Reign's body as she groaned in agony.

The heroes and Lena watched as a fully naked Sam Arias separated from Reign's body and the purple light disappeared once the split was complete. Barry moved the black kryptonite away from Reign and Sam and the rock lost its glow as he put it back in the lead box.

Tess grabbed Sam off of Reign and held her in her arms. Kara K took off her blue and red overcoat and put it around Sam, covering her body to make her warm.

Growling angrily, Reign jumped out of the bed and landed her feet on the floor as she glared at the heroes.

"Superman, the crystal!" Conner exclaimed, calling Clark by his codename due to Lena's presence.

Before Reign could react, Clark placed the House of El crystal against her chest and activated it. A moment later, Reign vanished in a blue flash of light, much to the heroes' relief.

"It's done,' Clark said to the others.

Tess laid Sam down on the gurney as Lena came over.

"Sam?" Lena called out. "Can you hear me?"

"Lena..." Sam murmured in response. "Do you have some aspirin?"

Lena and the heroes chuckled, happy that Sam seemed to be okay.

"So that's it? Reign is gone, just like that?" Kara D asked Clark, wanting to be sure.

"Disappearing in a flash of light after I've activated the crystal on someone is what usually happens when he or she is sent to the Phantom Zone," Clark said. "It was only a question of whether or not it would still work on a different Earth. Apparently, we were in luck."

"Well, considering our track record when it comes to locking away our bad guys, let's hope Reign doesn't escape eventually," Conner said.

"That won't be a problem," Clark said confidently, since no one had escaped the Phantom Zone since he and Oliver exited the prison years ago. "The crystal that was used to exit the Zone was destroyed when I crushed it the last time I was trapped in there. We can send things in as long as we have this crystal, but nothing can ever get out."

"Good to know," Barry said.

"So we did it," Kara D said, with a grin. "We finally beat Reign."

(D.E.O.)

Sam was lying on the bed in the med-bay as Barry, Conner, Kara D, and Lena stood near her.

"How do you feel?" Kara D asked.

"So far I feel fine," Sam replied.

"Good," Kara D smiled.

Alex entered with Ruby and Patricia.

"Mom?" Ruby said.

"Samantha?" Patricia said.

Sam sat up in bed. "Ruby? Patricia?"

They rushed over to Sam, who happily threw her arms around Ruby as mother and daughter embraced. They held each other for a good ten seconds before letting each other go and Sam placed her hands on Ruby's face.

"I love you," Sam said affectionately, before giving Ruby a peck on the forehead.

Then, it was Patricia's turn to embrace Sam. "Are you all right, Sam?"

"I'm fine, Patricia," Sam answered, as they let each other go. "No more Reign, no more superpowers."

"You guys won't have to worry about Reign ever again," Kara D said. "We made sure of it."

"Oh, thank God," Patricia said with relief, looking at Barry, Conner, Kara D, and Lena gratefully. "Thank you. Thank you so much for getting my Sam back."

"We were only doing our job, Mrs. Arias," Conner said.

Patricia turned back to Sam. "Ruby told me so much about herself and her life. You raised a bright and kind young woman and I couldn't be more proud of both of you."

"That means a lot, Patricia," Sam said, gratefully.

"I know I don't deserve your forgiveness after failing you as a mother, which is why I'm going to ask for it, but what I will ask for is a chance to make things right between us," Patricia said. "If that's what you want too."

Sam considered for a few moments. The part of her that was still angry at Patricia wanted to reject the older woman's offer, while the part of her that had longed for Patricia to be a good mother to her was willing to give it a shot.

"Here is the thing, Patricia," Sam said. "I want to stay mad at you and tell you to leave and don't contact me or Ruby again, but after my ordeal with Reign, I don't wanna take another day of life for granted anymore. I can't promise that I'll ever fully forgive you for kicking me out just because I was pregnant with Ruby, but I am willing to let you be part of my life and hopefully find some common ground. One day at a time."

"Fair enough," Patricia nodded in understanding. "That's more than I deserve. But one thing I want you to be sure of is that I love you and I always have."

"I know," Sam nodded.

Barry, Conner, and Kara D left the med-bay, while Alex and Lena went over to Sam, Ruby, and Patricia to run some tests on Sam to make sure she was indeed okay.

Clark, Conner, Barry, Kara D, Kara K, and Tess were again on the rooftop of the D.E.O. building when a red and blue blur appeared and a handsome man in a blue and red suit nearly identical to Clark's descended next to them.

"Kara," the newcomer greeted Kara D with a smile, while the others stared at him curiously.

"Hey, cuz," Kara D greeted back with a smile of her own as she pulled him into a hug.

The newcomer, this Earth's Superman, stared at the others, especially the man in a suit much like his own, in astonishment. "Are you..."

"Kryptonian like you?" Clark finished, knowing what his counterpart was about to ask. "I am in fact. Not only that, but I'm also you, a Kal-El or Clark Kent from another Earth, barring the fact that we look different."

"Oh," Kal said, peering at the other Man of Steel. "Kara did mention that she another version of Superman, which I figure was you."

"It was," Clark confirmed, before holding out his hand. "Nice to meet you, Superman."

"Nice to meet you too, Superman," Kal said back, as he shook Clark's hand. "I must say, your grip seems a bit stronger than mine."

"That's because his grip is stronger," Kara K chuckled, as did the others.

"Thank Rao it wasn't this Superman that I had to fight during the Daxamite invasion," Kara D said about Clark.

"It's a good thing you managed to bring my mind back to normal before I did too much damage," Kal said.

"So you were under mind control?" Clark asked.

"Not mind control, I was exposed to silver kryptonite, which made me hallucinate that Kara was an enemy of mine," Kal explained.

"I was exposed to silver kryptonite too once, but it caused me to believe that everyone I love turned against me and made me act violent," Clark said. "Thankfully, I was brought back to my senses before I seriously hurt or killed anyone."

Kara D noticed her cousin's chest slightly sticking out and frowned in amusement. "Are you puffing out your chest?" she whispered to him.

"A little," Kal whispered back. He turned to Barry and Conner. "I've seen you two on TV a few times. You're The Flash and Superboy, right?"

"Yeah, but you can call me Barry," Barry said, as he took off his cowl. "Barry Allen, a good friend of your cousin."

"Conner Kent," Conner also introduced himself. "Or you can call me Kon-El if you want."

Kal then turned to Kara K. "And you are?"

"Your doppelganger's cousin Kara Zor-El," Kara K replied. "Or, as I'm known on Earth in my civilian identity, Kara Kent."

"Care-rah?" Kal questioned.

"It's pronounced that way for me," Kara K said.

"Tess Mercer, codename Red Tornado," Tess introduced herself as well.

"My cousin fought an android like you a few years ago," Kal said.

"So I've been told several times already," Tess said.

"But I can see you're clearly not a threat like that one was," Kal said reassuringly, placing a hand on her shoulder. He turned to his cousin. "You've made some pretty interesting friends, Kara."

"Technically, these three are our family in a way," Kara D pointed out, gesturing to Clark, Conner, and Kara K.

"Considering that they're us from another Earth, that's a good point," Kal agreed. He turned to Conner. "But we don't have a version of you on this Earth. How are you related to your Clark and Kara?"

"Officially, I'm Clark's younger brother, but actually I'm his partial clone," Conner said.

"A clone?" Kal asked, having not expected that.

"The Kryptonian half of my DNA came from Clark, while the human half came from... Lex Luthor," Conner admitted.

"Lex Luthor?" Kal and Kara D said in unison as they widened their eyes in shock.

"Wait, the human part of you came from Lex?" Kara D asked, looking at Conner in disbelief.

"I was created by Lex with his DNA and a sample of Clark's blood," Conner said. "So I'm a clone of both of them."

"I never would've guessed that," Kara D said.

"At first, I was the spitting image of Lex, but after a while, Clark's DNA in me became more dominant, not that I mind that," Conner explained.

"The Lex Luthor on this Earth is one of my greatest enemies," Kal said. He turned to Clark. "Is that the same with your Lex?"

"Unfortunately," Clark nodded with a sigh. "On our Earth, Lex was my best friend once upon a time. We were like brothers for several years until his paranoia, self-destructive ways, and immoral behavior drove us apart and he eventually became my greatest enemy."

"That's similar to what happened between me and our Lex," Kal noted. "We were friends for a time too. Lex was someone I thought I could trust and work with, but his methods turned out to be too extreme and they led us to becoming enemies. Any other enemies you and I have in common beside Lex Luthor?"

"Have you ever heard of General Zod and Darkseid?" Clark asked.

"Darkseid, can't say I have, but General Zod, I fought him a couple of times in the past," Kal said, before letting out a sigh. "But the last time we fought, I... I snapped his neck. He didn't leave me any other choice."

Clark looked at his counterpart in sympathy. In the past, he would've criticized Kal for taking a life, but now he understood that sometimes there was no other choice. Also, given what he and Conner had done to Doomsday two years ago, Clark realized it would be hypocritical of him to condemn another version of himself for also doing whatever it took to get rid of an unrepentant opponent.

"I'm sure you did the best you could," Clark said, placing a hand on Kal's shoulder. "While the Zod I know is still alive, he's trapped in the Phantom Zone with no hope of escaping."

"What about Lois Lane? Do you have her on your Earth?" Kal asked.

"She's my wife," Clark answered.

Kal raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"We've been married since 2015," Clark said.

"Congratulations," Kal said.

"Thanks," Clark said.

"You and Lois should really jump on that, Kal," Kara D advised. "You love her, don't you?"

"Of course I love her," Kal answered. "I've actually been thinking about asking Lois to marry me for a while, but I never got around to it."

"Don't wait too long," Barry advised. "A friend of mine once told me that people like us, superheroes, don't get the girl, but the fact that a version of you is actually married proves that's not necessarily true. If you love Lois, put a ring on her."

"Good advice, Barry," Kal said. "I'll keep that in mind. How are things here in National City? Is Reign still a threat?"

"Nope, not anymore, thanks to their help," Kara D said.

"It's good that there are several other heroes from multiple Earths who are willing to have your back," Kal said.

"We can have yours too if you ever need it," Clark offered.

"I wouldn't mind teaming up with another me someday," Kal said.

"Well, for now, it's time for us to start heading home," Clark said.

"Thank you for everything, Clark," Kara D said. "Your black kryptonite and Phantom Zone crystal were a great help in saving Sam and stopping Reign."

"I'm just glad everything worked out much better than the last time we used black kryptonite to split an evil Kryptonian from their human side," Clark said.

"Black kryptonite? That's a new one," Kal said.

"Word of advice, if you ever encounter black k on this Earth, avoid it at all costs or you'll end up having to battle a violent, uninhibited version of yourself," Clark warned.

"Let me guess, that's exactly what happened to you before," Kal said.

"It wasn't pretty," Clark recalled. "Have you ever encountered red kryptonite by any chance, which strips away our inhibitions and makes us dangerous and unpredictable?"

"Not at all," Kal shook his head.

"I have unfortunately," Kara D said, shuddering at the memories of her erratic behavior while under the influence of red kryptonite. "That's another version of kryptonite I wouldn't wanna encounter ever again."

"Tell me about it," Conner agreed.

"Thank Rao I never had any exposure to red kryptonite," Kara K said.

"And there's blue and gold kryptonite as well," Clark said.

"Never heard of gold kryptonite, but there was a synthetic blue form that we once used to stop my not-really-evil clone Bizarro," Kara D explained.

"That's another similarity between us," Clark noted. "I also used it to stop a Bizarro, who was my clone and actually was evil. Does your version of blue kryptonite take away Kryptonian abilities?"

"It actually had no effect on regular Kryptonians," Kara D said. "What does the gold one do?"

"If we're exposed to it long enough, it could take away our powers permanently," Clark explained. "But in a less extreme case, it'll only leave permanent scars on your body if you get injured in its presence."

"So both gold and blue kryptonite take away powers on your Earth?" Kara D asked.

"The blue kryptonite does so only while you're in its presence, while the gold one takes them away for good with no way of getting them back," Clark clarified.

"Well, I really hope the gold one doesn't exist here," Kara D said.

"Fortunately, it's the rarest form of kryptonite in existence," Kara K said.

"Well, it was nice meeting you all," Kal said.

"It was nice meeting you too," Clark said. "Take care."

The two Supermen shook hands again.

"Catch you later, Danvers," Kara K said, as she and Kara D pulled each other into a hug.

"It was satisfying watching you kick Reign's ass with less effort than the rest of us," Kara D said.

"If you need me to do the same to any other supervillains you encounter in the future, it'll be my pleasure," Kara K said.

"Goodbye, Conner," Tess said, as she pulled him into a hug.

"This isn't goodbye, Tess," Conner told her. "As long as our extrapolators work, we can see each other anytime."

"Agreed," Tess said.

"All right, let's go," Clark said to Kara K and Tess, as he opened a breach with his extrapolator.

The three entered the breach before it closed.

"We'll let you get back to Metropolis now," Kara D said to her cousin. "Tell Lois I said hello."

"Will do," Kal promised.

He embraced Kara D and then shook hands with Barry and Conner before flying off.

(Later)

Kara and Lena went outside on the balcony of the D.E.O. and stood face-to-face. The former was still in her Supergirl suit.

"What is it that you wanted to tell me?" Lena asked, curious.

Kara took a deep breath. "Lena, what I'm about to show you may change the way you think of me."

Lena frowned. "Show me what?"

"I understand now why you went to such great lengths to protect Sam," Kara said. "That feeling of needing to protect your friend, no matter what the world thinks... I understand that more than you know." Lena looked confused as Kara continued. "You once told me that Kara Danvers was your hero."

"I never told you that, I told..." Lena trailed off as she took a close look at Supergirl's face and realization suddenly dawned on her. If Kara loosened her hair, took off the glasses, and stood straighter, not to mention the same blue eyes and same facial structure...

"It's me, Lena," Kara admitted. "I've always been Kara." Lena was silent for several seconds as Kara looked very nervous in anticipation of Lena's reaction. "Please say something."

"I... I can't believe I was fooled by a pair of glasses all this time," Lena stammered.

"Don't worry, a lot of people are," Kara assured her. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I thought I was protecting you by keeping my identity a secret so that people wouldn't use it against you, but the truth is, I was just so afraid of how you'd react and that you'd hate me after waiting all this time to tell you."

"I'll admit that I am disappointed you never told me before now, but I'm not angry and I don't hate you, don't worry," Lena assured her.

"Really?" Kara asked, surprised. "You're not angry?"

"Well, I don't like the fact that you kept such a huge secret from me for two years, but after the secrets I've kept, it would be hypocritical of me to hold it against you," Lena said, before pausing for a moment. "That kryptonite I gave you to fight Reign the other day, it wasn't Lex's, it was mine. I figured out how to make it and I did."

Kara looked surprised for a moment but quickly got over it. "You know, if you'd have told me this a couple of weeks ago, I'd be very upset. But recent events, along with a reality check from a good friend, made me realize that people having kryptonite in their possession, as long as it's not used for ill intentions, is necessary in case evil Kryptonians like Reign or Zod show up again." She looked at Lena pleadingly. "So are we still friends?"

Lena took a deep breath. "Yes."

With that, the two women shook hands.

(Evening, Kara's apartment)

"I finally told Lena who I am," Kara said, as she and Barry were sitting on the couch eating pizza and watching TV.

"How did she take it?" Barry asked.

"Surprisingly well," Kara answered. "She said she was disappointed, but not angry, thank Rao. And she agreed to remain friends with me."

"That's great, I'm really happy for you," Barry said. "I had a feeling it would work out between you two."

"I feel like a huge weight has finally been lifted off my shoulders," Kara said. "I can fully be myself around Lena and no longer have to lie and come up with what were probably lame excuses to cover my identity." She and Barry chuckled as Kara then asked, "So when do you plan on going back to your Earth now that Reign is out of the way?"

"I'm sure a few more days here won't hurt," Barry decided.

"I'd like that," Kara nodded. "Let's make the most of these last few days before we have to inevitably part ways."

"We won't be parting ways forever though," Barry pointed out. "We'll make this relationship work somehow. If there's one thing we're both really good at, it's accomplishing the impossible."

"You're right about that, Barry," Kara agreed.

The next thing they knew, their lips crashed as they engaged in another passionate kiss.

Earth-64

Hours Ago

(Metropolis)

Reign suddenly appeared in the middle of a busy road in a flash of blue light. As the Worldkiller looked around in confusion, wondering what had happened, several cars sounded their horns as one of them swerved and narrowly avoided crashing into her.

Realizing she was now free from containment, Reign snatched off the circular device that was still attached to her chest and shot straight up in the air as she flew off. She soared across the sky and flew through some clouds, intending to resume her mission. But first, Samantha Arias needed to die. And once Samantha was dead, she would target Ruby and Patricia, as she needed to get rid of all traces of her weak and pathetic human counterpart. However, Reign knew she would have to be extra careful in her tactics, given that Supergirl had recruited more allies than she had anticipated, a couple of whom seemed to be more powerful than the Worldkiller herself despite having gained Purity's and Pestilence's abilities.

Reign was soon approached by a tall and well-built man with dark hair who was clad in a mostly black suit containing a long gray cape flowing behind his back and a pair of gray boots, complete with a gray diamond-shaped emblem centered by a black 'U' symbol resting on his chest. The man had steely blue eyes and a very handsome face that looked identical to that of Earth-21 Kal-El, albeit with a cold and hard expression.

The man stopped flying and hovered a few feet in front of Reign, blocking her path as he crossed his arms in an imposing manner and glared at her.

"Who the hell are you?" he demanded in the tone of someone who was used to being in a position of authority.

So Smallville Superman and Arrowverse Superman finally met. The idea of Arrowverse Superman killing Zod the same way his DCEU counterpart did is a reference to Winn's dialogue in Supergirl 3x12 episode about Superman killing Zod before the latter was resurrected in the 31st century.

Also, Kara Danvers finally told Lena her secret and Lena's reaction here is much better than in canon, since Lena's distrust of Supergirl was prevented thanks to the reality check Barry gave Kara two chapters ago. And Lena agreeing to remain friends with Kara was genuine in case anyone is wondering, so none of Lena's plot from Season 5 will happen here.

As for the scene at the end, the reason Reign appeared on another Earth instead of in the Phantom Zone is because the crystal malfunctioned due to being used on an Earth that's not Earth-21. For those of you who haven't figured out what universe Earth-64 is, it will be expanded on in the next chapter.
