By the time she got to work, Elisa was worn out. She hadn't slept well, going over and over the meeting and information she'd gained in her head.
They had another meeting with the group tonight, and she had a bad feeling that she knew where this was going before the end. She'd be bait, if that was needed, that was no problem. She had done it before, and it probably wouldn't be the last time.
She hated the thought of having to stay at one of the NYPD safe houses, though. If it came down to that, she thought, she'd have to move her family to the castle. Again.
They'd find out more tonight.
Once again, Elisa and Matt would check in at work. They would do some minor errand so that people would see them there, then go out on "patrol" and go to the meeting location. She hated keeping things from her fellow NYPD officers, but if someone was indeed involved in this…
Elisa gave a mental sigh as she moved in to sit at her desk. She looked through the stack of phone messages, most from tabloids who wanted to know about the actor and his high speed stupidity from the night before. She gathered those up and tossed them in the trash. She hated tabloids, and the local guys who wrote that trash should know that by now. They'd been after her for years now for information on the clan.
Matt came to join her, and they had a short conversation on nothing important.
After the night before, she was half expecting Travis to come and join them, but he appeared to be out on a case.
After a decent time, Matt and Elisa gathered up their usual things and headed out to the parking area.
Once more in Matt's car, they drove to the same warehouse and were greeted by the same man.
Once they were seated, Elisa realized that there were a few more chairs than there had been the night before.
As the new people arrived, Elisa and Matt were introduced to them. Two FBI, two homeland security.
That still left one empty chair.
"Our undercover contact is on his way," Agent Mack said. "He should be here in a few minutes. He has been working this case for a while, and has been briefed on the information that we have put together. He will be here to meet everyone shortly. In the meantime," he said heavily, leaning on the table. "We just heard from our CI. Our Informant told us that another shipment is on its way, reportedly similar to the one intercepted by Detective Maza. I don't think I need to tell you that we cannot let it get in their hands."
Seriousness and determination showed on the faces that all nodded their agreement.
There was the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway, giving them all a few moments of warning before the final person came through the door.
Both Taylor and Estrella got to their feet.
The man came through the door, his posture rigid as he stopped inside the room and saluted the military officers.
Even dressed in the brown tee shirt, the green camouflage military jacket and pants, and the closely cropped hair, the man who entered the door was immediately recognizable.
Once his hand dropped from the salute, he turned to take in the room, his eyes widening as his gaze hit the two NYPD detectives.
"Holy sh…" Matt muttered under his breath.
Elisa sat in stunned disbelief.
"Aw, hell," the man said, putting hands on his hips, closing his eyes and tilting his face to the ground.
Elisa couldn't hold it back anymore.
"Travis?" She blurted out.
