'We're going for a game!' Loke shouted across the field.
Natsu turned around then, 'hurry up, Luce' he shouted, the girls had been sitting, chatting trying to get some summer sun.
Meeting eyes with each of the girls Lucy grinned, 'come with me'
Cana was the first to disagree, 'what! no way, I don't feel like sitting on the bleachers, we have the prefect spot' she waves her hands around emphasizing the perfect spot. To Lucy, it still just looked like they were sitting at a random part of the field.
Juvia and Levy shared a glace, clearly thinking about their boyfriends, although after moment the strong, independent woman inside of them refused, 'we are having fun here Lu, you can go if you want' Levy spoke for them
'Come with me please' she asked again, exasperated, although this time it fell on def ears,
'Look, Lucy, we love you, but you can't try and turn us into your greaseball dude friends' Cana stated, no malice, just facts.
Well, she didn't want to argue, despite having hoped they would give it a try she supposed she couldn't change people. 'I guess you rights' she said, smiling to show no hard feelings.
Walking over, one hand pulling the back of her skirt down whenever their was a gust of wind, Lucy made her way over to the other side of the field where Natsu was waiting, clearly the only one with patience. He was looking at his phone and there was no way Lucy was running across a field full of boys in a miniskirt. She didn't miss the murmurs, one boy shouting 'hey blondie' along with another terrible pickup line. Natsu didn't seem to hear thank the gods. Lucy didn't know when but she'd found herself ignoring the numerous cat calls, her heart took every blow, but Lucy didn't find herself flinching, she still felt helpless against them, but if she pretended they weren't there then she could pretend there was no problem.
'Natsu' she shouted when she was close enough to not have to rip her own throat out.
He looked up, 'geeze, Luce took you long enough' she went to hush him but he grabbed her hand and sprinted,
'Natsu!' she shouted, between screams as her legs moved faster than she thought possible, 'I'm wearing a skirt quit it'
Alas, he did not quit it, and they ended up overtaking the boys.
There was an uproar.
'All right you're on! shouted Gashile, and before you knew it they were all stampeding to the baseball field, thundering over in a race.
Lucy's shoes were not built for running. Granted, they were not heals, but they weren't her comfy trainers either, lace-up doc's that she hadn't worn in yet and she was sure to get some blisters but she couldn't bring herself to care, it had only been just under a week since her transformation but she had skipped out on baseball and running ad all things athletic in favour of the girls. She missed this, the adrenalin, the pumping of her legs, she let out a laugh, a real laugh, giddy and loud.
They stopped at the baseball park. Panting laughing, smiles that beamed at each other, the rest of the boys followed along, also smiling and laughing with each other, looking a tad more aggressive, with Gashile carrying a bat and all.
'We won!' Natsu cheered after having gotten his breath back, doing his secret handshake with Lucy.
'Since when was it a race' they heard, in the distance Loke walking over, carrying the bases. The group erupted in laughter again, Loke not even jogging the last few meters to reach them.
Loke was a gentleman, he did not run.
When Loke finally was standing beside then Gray clapped his hands together, 'lets play'
They learnt to play with just the five of them, mainly playing for practice anyway, weekends there were actually games with a small amount of people watching.
Lucy had planned on sitting at the side lines, not wanting her skirt to fly up, but knowing it was literally just the boys, who thankfully were not perverts, around and after the sweet small taster of what running and playing did for her mood Lucy was the first one batting.
She was the best batter on the team, although she wasn't the fastest of the runners Lucy had crazy accuracy. Eye on the ball, Loke was throwing, the ball spinning towards, her, her stance came naturally, she swung the bat, the clock back as the ball hit the bat, she sprinted, flying pas Gray Natsu called out to Gashile who was at her next post, she didn't dare check if it was near, she Just. Kept. Running.
'Homerun' she cheered! Screaming with glee, ignoring, the bloody state her feet were sure to be in.
Natsu grinned at her, that was his Lucy. Makeup smudged smile carefree 'y'all should have timed that sonic couldn't catch me'
Loke gave her a bro hug and then a first bump, then swapping places, for now being the baller.
The games went on like that, each person trying to get a home run, which eventually turned into a water fight, punching holes in their plastic bottles to make sprinklers. Loke and Lucy teamed up against Natsu and Gahsile whilst Gray declared he walked a lonely road somehow having TWO water bottles. Never before had there been a war as brutal as this.
'Gah' cried Gashile his voice a few MILLION octaves higher than the gruff voice he usually had. lucy cheered for herself, she'd jumped him from behind and poured the remainder f her water bottle on him. he'd thrown her off instantly more on reaction than anything else but boy was it worth it. 'what the HELL, Blondie?!'
She stuck her tongue out and she attempted to scramble away, ' thought you could do with a shower is all, metalhead' he lunged for her, water bottle cap off for a full blow she rolled out of the way just as like had gone to defend her, his perfect hair getting soaked. 'LOKE' she cried running to him.
He laid back, hair soggy, 'is this death?' he asked looking up to the sky as Lucy healed his upped body in her arms beside him.
Lucy shook her head, 'no not today, we'll get you a hairdryer and its gonna be fine okay. Your sacrifices weren't in vain'
'For you my sacrifices are... never... in ...vain' he reached a hand up to the sky before dramatically closing his eyes and flopping his arm down.
Standing up lucy nodded, 'I shall defend your honour comrade.' and CHARGED.
The sun was setting by the time they all staggered to their designated homes, all living in the same area, it was a supposed to be a quick walk back but the sun was down by the time Lucy waved her goodbyes to Natsu, ignoring the way her heart stuttered seeing his cheeky grin despite being absolute soaked
Running up the stairs, too tried to make herself something to eat, when her dad got home she'd just have whatever he was having. Lucy couldn't stop grinning, staring up at her ceiling. She hadn't had a laugh as good as that for a while. Her love for her friends hade her so happy she felt tears forming in her eyes. Gods she never wanted them to change. Maybe it wasn't the most ladylike but she could scald herself another time
