Chapter 7
I just wanna be part of your symphony
–
"Brr." Kurt complained as he stomped the snow off in the lobby, it was intended for just that. Blaine was leaning against the wall just next to the door that would lead them into the full warmth of the interior building. He just had his blazer, undershirt, slacks and socks and shoes, he hadn't been outside yet today. He was just watching Kurt with a head tilt and a smile on his lips.
"You're adorable." Blaine said as Kurt shivered in his heavy jacket, scarf, boots and gloves. Kurt wished he'd had a blanket or snowpants on too. It was cold out there and here Blaine was, looking completely comfortable and relaxed. It was warmer in this lobby, true, the wind out there had cut him to the bone. "You need more fat, then you won't be so cold."
Kurt looked over to Blaine and rolled his eyes at the idea, no. He was loathe to part with the layers. "You first."
Blaine snorted and pushed away from the wall and slid his hands into the folds in Kurt's coat, to draw him closer and tugged on the scarf at Kurt's neck, pulling his head down gently and kissed him softly on the lips. "Careful what you wish for." He was likely to be the first to gain weight in their relationship, he was shorter and if he wasn't so athletic, he may just gain fat. Especially with what he liked to eat.
"I don't know, I think I could dig a chubby Blaine." Kurt teased back and rubbed his cold nose against Blaine's cheek.
"Looks are so important to you though." Blaine teased, glad to hear that Kurt didn't care about that, but he didn't want to gain weight himself.
"My own, not yours." Kurt's nose found the warmth of Blaine's neck and he shivered.
"You're right, it's freezing out there." Blaine pulled back enough to kiss the cold nose, in a teasing attempt to warm it up. There were more boys trying to come in and he reluctantly pulled Kurt into the main lobby and dropped off his coat and boots and scarf and switch into the loafers that were part of their uniform.
Kurt was grumpy, he was still cold. Blaine wrapped both arms around him and attempted to warm him up with his body heat. They had another 10 minutes before they had to head to class. Kurt's cold hands found their way into Blaine's blazer and sought out the warmer heat between it and the white dress shirt and Blaine tried hard not to jump from the coolness, he had enough body heat for both of them and as Kurt stayed so close, he knew he was getting warmer and Kurt probably was too.
"Wasn't your car producing enough heat to keep you warm on the drive?"
"Yeah but it is still cold outside, colder once I got out of the car." He parked in the parking lot today because the garage was full. "I didn't want to walk the grounds but had to." He scowled but that was slowly losing intensity as he got warmer and he just liked being in Blaine's arms.
"I'll leave my spot open from now on for you."
"That makes absolutely no sense Blaine." Kurt protested and Blaine shook his head.
"During the week I barely leave the school grounds, I don't have to walk back and forth to my vehicle with my stuff, just the weekends when I come to visit you. You do it daily while you're here and you shouldn't have to trek through the snow if you don't have to, I don't."
Kurt shook his head. "No, Blaine, don't."
"I'm going to, no matter what you say, you might as well take it." Blaine teased and was serious at the same time.
Kurt gave in, there was no winning this argument no matter what he might say or felt about it. Blaine was going to do whatever he wanted and he wanted to give his spot to Kurt.
"Warmer now?" Blaine asked and Kurt murmured a positive acclamation but didn't want Blaine to move away with it so snuggled in closer. Blaine laughed and settled into it, not even remotely interested in leaving that position either, it was Monday and for a rare weekend, he hadn't gone to Kurt's home.
Kurt had said no, not in his Prius with that terrible weather. It had rained, froze, snowed, melted and froze again. There had been serious consideration on whether or not Kurt should return to Dalton on Monday but it had warmed up and the roads were clear. Because he didn't want to stress Kurt out, he had listened. However had he left with Kurt in his SUV on Friday like he had wanted, that wouldn't have been an issue, he'd have been at Kurt's all weekend and came back with him on Monday.
His parents had interrupted that plan however with an impromptu pop in and took him out to eat Friday and had ignored Kurt who had stood beside Blaine when they walked into the building with one of the teachers. Anything that had to do with Kurt or Blaine now, always had a supervisor present, even if it was a parent of one of the boys, it was a non-student present on the grounds and nothing would happen to either of them now after the last time a guest was around.
Nothing had happened, none of the other McKinley boys had been on campus, not even his brother or friends. Kurt thought maybe this was overkill when they knew their parents and knew that nothing would come of it. He was actually glad to have a teacher there with Blaine's parents, because they might have not ignored him otherwise and he didn't want to hear what they'd say in private at this time. They behaved because they had an audience.
"Mother, Father, let me introduce you to Kurt Hummel, Congressman Hummel's son." Kurt looked back at Blaine startled at that introduction, he hadn't even thought about it like that and now he was using the title to get at his parents? Kurt hadn't expected that from Blaine but he shot a look at Kurt that he'd explain later and to just play along and it wasn't what he was thinking.
His parents had looked at him then and were quickly reassessing him.
"We're sorry, we just thought you were one of his fans." Blaine's mother apologized.
"Nice to meet you. It's nice that Blaine is associating with people of high caliber like yourself." His father held out his hand for Kurt to shake it and when he nodded his agreement with his wife's words, Blaine let the rest drop.
Blaine was careful though to put Kurt slightly behind him again and that the handshake ended first. "Kurt is my boyfriend."
Silence greeted his words.
His father cleared his throat. "Ready to go Blaine?"
"I was intending to go with Kurt, actually." Blaine held his father's gaze and the other man shook his head.
"No, you're coming with us, we have dinner plans with the Coztiers."
"You mean you were trying to set me up with their daughter again." Blaine argued.
"They're a prominent family with ties to Harvard and Yale, if you want to be a doctor, you're going to want to make friends with them. Being friends with their daughter would just be a plus."
"What if I want to be a politician? Being friends with Congressman Hummel would be a better stepping stone."
"He-" The father stopped short and looked at first Kurt then the teacher with them and shook his head. "You already have an in with him, as you've just told us."
"It's fine Blaine, go, make friends, explore your career options, I'll see you on Monday." Kurt put a hand on his arm in reassurance.
"Oh?" Mr. Anderson looked over at Kurt. "You don't reside on campus?"
"I go home on the weekends. My dad wants me around him as much as I can while he's still in Ohio." Kurt didn't say that he went home most nights except when the weather was too bad to go home and those nights he spent in Blaine's embrace. His term was starting at the end of January and he was pleased and proud for him but he was going to miss his dad. He promised that he'd be home on the weekends, they paid for his flights and he wouldn't be gone for long, just the few times they were in session, he said it wasn't very often, actually. Kurt had to believe it was true, he'd still miss him at those times but understood that he was doing this for him.
"Hummel, isn't that the one that won that special election?" Mr. Anderson asked, putting it together now and Kurt shrugged, he'd won, that was all that mattered. They were insulting each other without actually using any insulting words but they both knew there were digs in there, and despite it all, Mr. Anderson approved of how Kurt could hold his own in this conversation and pick up on the subtly without being forewarned. "He's the one championing gay rights, isn't he? The house didn't even have a bill waiting for that until he got involved."
Kurt had a hard time believing that, he knew his dad had scoured all the bills that were waiting to be presented to the floor, looking for the one that he could get behind and try to keep as clean as possible, already knowing how politics worked by adding a lot of things that would require compromises and unrelated things. "My dad is just that good." He had a way of making things happen.
"Dad?" Mr. Anderson was surprised by the term, he repeated it as if it was a foreign word that he hadn't heard before.
"That's what sons call their father when they're close." Kurt nodded slowly as if Mr. Anderson was having trouble understanding English and Mr. Anderson's reluctant approval notched up. If his son had to be gay, then he found the perfect partner who could hold his own in the less than kind society they would be surrounded by, once they started interacting with the elite more. Kurt wasn't a wallflower who would fade away with resistance to his presence and he held himself confidently and didn't appear to be putting it on for show and he didn't lash out in a temper-tantrum. He was attractive too and took pride in his looks, that much was obvious to Mr. Anderson. Yes, if his son continued with this belief and behavior, then Kurt Hummel would be a force to respect in their circles. He wouldn't need Blaine to hand hold him or jump to his defense and may actually make Blaine stronger and more self-assured himself. Blaine had always been too quiet at their events and appeared weak. The way his son had acted in how he introduced Kurt just now, showed that he had a backbone too.
"Would you like to come with us to dinner?" The invite was from Mr. Anderson and everyone stared at him in shock because that was something no one would have ever expected from him in general, much less when it would be in a public-private setting. If he brought Kurt, then he would be inviting a lot of questions and gossip but Mr. Anderson wasn't concerned about that at the moment. He wanted to get to know Kurt a bit more.
"That's a very generous offer." Kurt said slowly, looking for the ulterior motive, the trap.
"Kurt needs to go home, his father is expecting him soon and would not be happy with a sudden change in plans." Blaine cut in smoothly. "They always have dinner on Fridays as a family."
It was true and Kurt was sure his father would give up one Friday dinner if he knew but Kurt only had his uniform and he would have been expected to change before this dinner and he didn't have anything that would past muster.
Mr. Anderson nodded his head. "So be it, we'll have that dinner another time then."
In his uniform, Kurt passed, barely, but in his regular clothes, even clothes that would fit in with Blaine's parents' crowd, he'd be obvious unless he toned himself down. He looked older and stronger with his hair up like that but if he wore it with that side part, even years down the road, people would still view him as that little boy he had been before he came out, it just made him look so much younger and he knew that it would have been expected and he would lose some of the confidence people viewed him with now. He wouldn't hide himself away anymore, not even for Blaine's parents.
"Maybe with my dad, he's mentioned a desire to meet you since Blaine and I started dating." Kurt agreed with a small nod, and it would make it so obvious that there was more to that dinner than just dinner. Mr. Anderson's jaw ticked as Kurt backed him into a corner then, touche, he nodded his head in Kurt's direction, conceding that Kurt had won that round.
"I'll text you later." Blaine walked Kurt in the direction of the dorms, leaving his parents in the foyer. "Please wait until we leave before going?" Blaine didn't want Kurt's hand to be tipped now that he had gained his father's respect. Kurt shrugged, he could study in the Junior common room for awhile, he wasn't due home for a few hours. Had he gone to the front door then, it would have been obvious that he commuted. Blaine kissed Kurt well in view of his parents. "Drive home safe and I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Ok." Kurt had agreed a little dazed after that kiss, it had been a very powerful kiss and he wouldn't have been able to argue even if he had wanted to, which he hadn't, he had no plans on showing his hand.
Blaine had been stuck with his parents until late that night and after they dropped him off, he hadn't been able to go anywhere, A it was too late that night and B the weather started to turn. It had been a long weekend for both boys, unable to see the other.
They called and texted but it wasn't the same. How would they be able to handle when Kurt had to go back to McKinley or when he left to go to New York while Blaine was stuck in Ohio if they hated even just a weekend apart?
Blaine groaned when the bell rang, he had so much he wanted to say to Kurt, so much he wanted to do with the taller boy. He rubbed noses with him and then they disentangled themselves from each other and Blaine walked Kurt to his class, not out of protection but because he wanted to, and to spend more time with Kurt. His class wasn't far and Kurt's room was on the way. They kissed briefly before parting.
Nick and Jeff were in the same year and same classes and Kurt sent them a look of jealousy that they got to sit with each other during their classes. He pouted, put out and Nick called him over to their table and sat him down between them, his legs swinging over Kurt's despite his protests and trying to move him off of him, Nick wouldn't budge. Jeff laughed and dropped an arm along the back of Kurt's chair.
"Blaine missed you, but not nearly as much as we did." Jeff said teasing as he ran a hand against Kurt's back, trying to calm him down and show him that they liked him too.
"I'm never here on the weekends." Kurt argued and they shrugged. "With Blaine here, it felt like a week day." Nick said slyly.
These two gay boys touched him perhaps a bit too intimately at times but never inappropriately and with them he didn't feel sexually harassed, just embarrassed or maybe a tad uncomfortable but comfortable too at the same time. Their intentions were pure but he also knew that if he was up for it, they wouldn't mind a 3 way or 4 if Blaine was game too but they would always be with each other first and foremost. Kurt was definitely not that type and he put up with their flirting with him only so far and told them to knock it off if it went too far or Blaine did when he was feeling a bit jealous himself at the attention they were giving Kurt and Kurt was paying attention to them and not him. Blaine may have flirted with the idea of a 4 way but Kurt never would, wouldn't even be intrigued by the idea. He was a one man man. Blaine had reassured him that he would only be interested in a 4 way because Kurt would have been involved, without him there was no point. Kurt still wasn't sure if Blaine was serious or not about the 4 way.
Kurt had been red for hours with that conversation and Blaine couldn't help but laugh every time he looked over at Kurt who would only flame up again because he knew exactly why Blaine was laughing. The other boys hadn't helped either, they kept making comments or gestures and only when Kurt was sure that he wouldn't be able to breath anymore with how much blood flowed to his face, he told them to knock it off and they slipped away to their shared bedroom with a comment about how they'd be imaging Kurt there with them. They didn't say anything again, until today, and even then they weren't saying anything, just flirting with him and touching him.
Kurt didn't sink into their touch or relax, he just didn't pull away, he even tried to push Nick away but it hadn't proven successful. He didn't touch either of them back. Jeff massaged Kurt's shoulder with a single hand. "Dude, you need to relax, being this tense isn't good for you."
"I might be able to relax more if you weren't both all over me." Kurt managed through gritted teeth, not liking to be told what to do and Jeff removed his hand but Nick was insistent and stayed put.
"Nick." Jeff warned and jerked his head and Nick reluctantly lowered his legs back onto the ground. He wrapped his arm around Kurt's though and laid his head on Kurt's shoulder, reading Kurt's text book instead of his, even though they hadn't been on the same page. Kurt just let him do it, he was tired of fighting.
He and Burt had argued that weekend about him going over to Rachel's for a girls' night. Finn refused to take him or pick him up, still not talking to the brunette ex-girlfriend, despite her begging for them to at least talk about it. She'd tried to approach Kurt too that weekend, try to get him to help her but Kurt refused to get involved, he and Finn were not at a place where he had any sway over his brother or his emotions.
Finn had argued with both of them too and refused, absolutely refused to go. He didn't want to be anywhere near the scene of the crime against their relationship and that would be difficult in the future too as it was her house. Finn didn't cow to Burt's blusters then, he didn't care how much he respected the man and viewed him as a father and authority figure, his heart hurt too much to be forced to do this. Kurt and him had talked a lot about this over the week, especially when he caught Finn crying about the breakup one night.
Burt wouldn't let Kurt go by himself and Kurt thought it was overkill as he went all the way to Dalton by himself. "That's different," Burt argued back, "You're going from my garage to the interior of a castle, not getting out until the gates are closed behind you. With Rachel's house you'll be going through town and parking in her driveway, it's too dangerous."
"It's only a few steps." Kurt argued back.
"In this weather, it's suicidal!" Burt tried a different tactic.
"It's not far." Kurt disagreed. "Finn jogged back here from her house, that's pretty darn close." He wasn't saying that Finn couldn't jog further, that wasn't the point, he was just saying it was within walking distance, a long walk, but doable.
"The school is in walking distance too." Burt grumbled. "I'll drive you there and pick you up in the morning but you're not to go anywhere with the girls, just her house."
Kurt shook at the mandate, that was just ridiculous, he was able to go to their usual haunts when spending the day together, but in this weather it was unlikely to be on anyone's to do list, but again, beside the point. "I'm not under house arrest, I didn't do anything wrong! I shouldn't be the one treated like a criminal with my whereabouts monitored like this."
Burt was red faced and Kurt wasn't backing down, he knew he should, he knew that Burt's heart couldn't handle the strain and he didn't want Burt angry but he was too angry himself right then to think about it. Thankfully it was Burt who calmed down first and pulled Kurt into his arms. "I know, I'm sorry, but I worry about you too much. Until he is under house arrest or in jail, I don't want you anywhere by yourself, vulnerable."
"I don't feel all that vulnerable anymore." Kurt hadn't done anything to change his body or change his stance on violence but his confidence had been restored. He hadn't seen Karofsky in over a month and he was complete. He was ready to go back to his school and face his bullies again, he had needed a break, a breather, but now he was missing his own school and friends. He started reassessing that desire after the night he had with the girls.
He still loved them, still wanted to be with them but Rachel kept pushing him to talk about Finn, asking him about how Finn was doing, begging him to put in a good word for her. Kurt hadn't seen the kiss and knew he had no right to say a single thing about it to Finn. "That's your mess, Rachel!" He finally snapped at her. "I can't believe you would do this to him after what Quinn and Puck put him through last year. Didn't you learn anything from the scandal with Jesse and Puck last year? Finn is more sensitive than you've been giving him credit for and you are the one who needs to somehow get through to him, I cannot do it for you, I cannot betray his confidences." He may not have confided in Finn with the bullying but he was telling him a lot more about it now during their nightly chats, among other things, and it felt nice telling him, it was different than when he told Blaine or their dad. Finn was confiding in him what he could not tell anyone else, talked about his hopes and fears and Kurt learned so much more about Finn than he ever dreamed possible. He wasn't sure what about this changed, their parents marriage, living together, him not being with Finn in school anymore, his own opening up about things, but Finn was talking to him and was a lot deeper than Kurt had given him credit for himself. He didn't want to change that or threaten it.
"Kurt," she pleaded, "you're my friend, not his."
"That's true." He conceded. "But he's my brother."
Rachel had pouted and glared at him the rest of the night and he slept downstairs on her couch. Tina had pulled a blanket out of the closet and slept on the floor beside him, missing him more than trying to stay in Rachel's good graces. Mercedes slept on the bed with Rachel but over the night had tried to talk to her about it, to get her to repair the rift she'd just created with another male in that household.
Mercedes eventually pulled herself from the bed in the wee hours of the morning and joined Tina with Kurt, she missed her favorite guy too much to spend anymore time with the same-story-Rachel, it was just always on repeat with her. She didn't do anything to change things, other than the same action again and again and it obviously wasn't working and needed to mix it up.
Kurt was tired. He was woken up this morning earlier than he wanted to, between the weather and Rachel's unnaturally early call. He had groggily answered it without looking, hoping it was the school asking him to stay home because the weather wasn't great in their part of the state. No such luck. Of course he wanted to see Blaine but at that moment he had wanted to sleep more. Blaine could wait a day, they'd chat throughout the day anyway..
"Kurt!" Her voice was too loud and sharp and intense for him and he groaned, placing it on the bed face down, he didn't even need to put it on speaker phone, he could hear her clearly enough as it was. He thought about hanging up but he just rolled over onto his other side. "I'm so sorry!" She said through their connection. "I thought about it all of yesterday and last night and slept on it and woke up in a panic because I knew I had to just apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I should never have asked you to put yourself in that position. Please forgive me!" She kept repeating his name and apologizing until he rolled back over and flipped the phone back over again.
"Ok! OKAY RACHEL!" He shouted back at her to be heard over her sobs. "I am sorry too! Now shut up and let me sleep." He ended the call then. His alarm started five minutes later and he groaned, bloody Rachel, stealing precious minutes of sleep! He rolled out of bed and put himself together as best he could and knew he still looked immaculate even with his lack of effort today. He had prepped his skin and hair so much over the years that he could go a day without doing so and he wouldn't look any worse for wear, even when he had been in his dark period, he had not neglected his skin and hair care, had still been fashionable and clean and pressed and on point.
He hadn't told Blaine all that went down over the weekend, he had stayed cheery and positive for him and didn't give him any reason to feel guilty for not being there or less than thrilled that he missed the drama. Had he been around, he would have gone with Kurt to Rachel's and back again and would have saved him at least 2 arguments. The third may have always had happened, he wasn't sure, maybe they would have made up sooner. He didn't know.
He didn't know that Blaine felt terrible that Kurt had such a happy, easy weekend without him. He was feeling unneeded and had been so excited to see Kurt that morning and was greeted by a grumpy-gus, though their snuggles that morning was fun too in it's own way. So maybe he hadn't had such a perfect time away from Blaine and that made him happy, except then he started thinking that if Kurt had gone to school still in Lima, he may not have been so grumpy because then he would have slept for longer, had more time to put towards his look and... may have been colder since his car may not have heated up before he got to school. Blaine laughed at himself as he swung around to greet Kurt after their first class.
Nick and Jeff left the room first and Nick sent him a grumpy look of his own. "Someone spit in your boyfriend's beancurd. Make him better."
"What happened?" He ignored the Mulan reference.
"He was not appreciative of our flirting this morning." Jeff shrugged and pulled Nick away before he could make things worse. Kurt's mood had not improved throughout their class time together.
They did not share their next period together, Kurt would be on his own for that one and then following one would be shared with Blaine. Blaine frowned, yes, Kurt was oddly conservative when it came to that kind of thing but usually he didn't get too up in arms about Nick's behavior, found it amusing actually, but sometimes Nick crossed a line and he wondered if that was what was bothering Kurt and not what Nick thought was the problem.
He opened the door when the trickle of students slowed but Kurt still hadn't come out. He went in to find Kurt going as slow as he could with gathering up his things and arranging them. Blaine often just shoved it all in without a care but he knew Kurt was not that way with anything unless he was distracted enough and Blaine had only seen that happen a few times and not always because of him, unfortunately. Kurt always managed to pick up their discarded shirts and fold them neatly before rejoining him on the bed and continuing their make-out session. Truthfully the more Blaine learned about his neurotic need to be clean and organized, the more surprised he was that he had gotten Kurt to come in his pants that one time. That was wholly a not-Kurt like thing to do but a necessity Kurt probably decided if they were going to play around but not have sex. It hadn't happened again, mostly because they hadn't been given that privacy again, time or had been wearing their uniform pants. Blaine liked to keep his uniform neat and his clothes had been wrinkle-free ever since he'd met Kurt (except when they caused the wrinkles) but he hadn't been that meticulous with anything else, except maybe his own hair. He just sang what he felt like when he felt like it while Kurt prepared and practiced constantly until he hit the notes just right. He practiced his dancing until he got the choreography right, Blaine mostly just winged it unless it was a show performance in front of the whole school or audience.
He had felt like singing Teenage Dream to Kurt the first day they met and had done it without practicing it, he felt like sending Kurt the Scars to Your Beautiful without listening to it to make sure it was perfect, he had sung what he felt and sometimes his intentions weren't how it turned out as his emotions got the better of him. He'd sung other songs for Kurt too. He was writing a song for Kurt currently, he had started over the weekend and was planning on playing it for him soon, singing it for him. He had so many songs he wanted to write for Kurt and would write them and sing them all for him eventually. Kurt was his muse, he'd never known what to write about before.
Kurt had sent him songs, but it had never been his voice in those messages, just the songs he wanted to use to express his feelings for Blaine, toward Blaine, toward what Blaine had done for him, how he wanted Blaine to feel (a happy song to cheer him up, not telling him that he should be happy because Kurt wanted him to be so), to know he was feeling. Blaine yearned to have Kurt sing for him.
He'd sang for a bird, he had heard Kurt going back and forth with the bird, had practiced his runs and warmed up his voice, hitting the same notes the bird had and vice versa. When the bird had died, Kurt had sung for the canary too. Blaine was his boyfriend, his love, where was the song for him? Did he have to die first?
He hesitated at these thoughts, he hadn't realized he was feeling that way until just then. He supposed he ought to tell Kurt how he was feeling but first he needed to get to the bottom of Kurt's own bad mood before he stroked it into a worse mood and had Kurt lash out at him too. He had to be careful with how he approached this. Who would have known that secret insecurity would be brought out while watching Kurt carefully put his books away?
Kurt had a scowl on his face, apparently it wasn't just Nick and Jeff's flirting that had irritated him, and he knew Nick was right, there was something else that happened. Except when Kurt was done packing up and he looked up, his dark cloud lifted and he smiled happily at seeing Blaine standing there and if Blaine hadn't seen it for himself, he wouldn't have known Kurt had ever been in a bad mood. He didn't want to ask and cause that dark cloud to come back again, but knew he probably needed to so he didn't just keep going in and out of it all day. Except if it wasn't about him, then why rock the boat?
"Ok?" Blaine asked, it was a neutral question that would open the opportunity to tell him what was wrong but at the same time, could be forgiven for just a inquiry since Kurt was lagging behind.
Kurt's lips twitched and he shook off whatever he was going to say and danced over to Blaine's side and wrapped both arms around one of Blaine's. "Very much better than ok now that you're here." He dragged Blaine out of the classroom and chatted at him the entire way to Blaine's next class. It meant that he would have to backtrack, but again they were equals, they dropped each other off at their classes, not just one way.
Blaine let it drop, it wasn't an argument that they needed to have. He'd casually mention it some other day. He knew Kurt was testy about something but had pushed it completely to the side to be happy with Blaine and Blaine wouldn't ruin that. He wanted Kurt to be happy with him, glad that he could make Kurt so happy he forgot all his other problems. Kurt was that for him too.
Dalton had gone all out on decorations for Christmas this year. While Kurt was not a religious person, in any way, he did love Christmas. They'd put up the Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving had ended, both here at Dalton and at his own house. Blaine was sure there was a giant tree in the middle of his parents' own living room and probably more throughout the rest of the house. None of the ones at Dalton or his parents' place had any personal trinkets, they were all perfectly decorated to make a statement.
He had seen Kurt's tree at home, it was not perfect. It was decorated beautifully and the lights were strung as evenly as possible but there were missing branches and tipped somewhat to one side and they'd faced it in a way that imperfections were less noticeable and it was in front of the window that lead towards the driveway so every time Kurt got home, he'd see the tree lit up, because now whenever he got home it was dark out. Blaine had seen it too when he went with Kurt to his house or came the next day. He wasn't allowed to stay the full weekend every weekend, Burt's generosity and acceptance of their relationship didn't extend quite that far. He wanted time with Kurt too, and he wanted alone time with Kurt or time to go and do something with him outside of their home's walls.
The tree was filled with mementos too. They didn't match or go together and there weren't that many bulbs on the tree and the ones that were, didn't match. They may have once upon a time but Carole had brought her decorations too and both families had probably broken more ornaments than those that survived. Front and center was the ornament Kurt always hung for his mother. Kurt hadn't told Blaine what happened there, and he didn't push either of the Hummels to tell him before they were ready.
Yet despite all of that, Blaine liked that tree the most of all the trees he'd ever seen in his life. It didn't matter the size, perfection or the amount of stuff put on it, that tree meant so much more and it wasn't even his tree. Some day he hoped to make his mark on it and be part of it but even if he never did, it meant so much to Kurt and Burt and even Carole and Finn and he loved it. It was theirs and no one else's. It was the story of Kurt and for that alone, it would always be Blaine's favorite tree every year, even if they didn't work out. He was determined that they would though, he wouldn't give up without a fight.
His parents had sparsely decorated his house every year, just enough so no one would call them out on their lack of holiday spirit. Dalton went all out with decorating every room so the kids who were stuck there over break wouldn't feel sad to not be home during the holiday season. The teachers liked the season too and made it as warm and as comfortable as possible. Kurt's house was just an explosion of decorations that kept growing, even Kurt's room and he'd never known the boy to have so much out and exposed and so many trinkets. He was sure Kurt would have been stifled by it but he had put a majority up himself and had seemed comfortable with it. Since Kurt didn't mind it, Blaine didn't either but he found that the basement was lacking decorations and he was disappointed by that. What Kurt put up, looked amazing.
He did bring this up at lunch that day. "So... will my room in your house still be void of the Christmas spirit the next time I visit?"
Kurt's eyes grew wide. "Oh? You want stuff down there invading that space? We can certainly decorate it, we just held back because that has kind of become your space." He hadn't brought any decorations with him to decorate Blaine's room either, since Blaine hadn't decorated it himself. Blaine just didn't have any to decorate his space with.
"I would decorate my dorm room too if I had the products." Blaine shrugged, sure he could go out and buy some, he just never had, hadn't spent much time in his room before Kurt, to want to spend more time in there with decorations, it was just a chore he hadn't seen a need for. "Maybe I should buy some."
"No way Anderson, I'll bring some. If you went out and bought some, they'd clash horribly." Kurt was teasing him and Blaine pretended to look put out.
"I have good style."
"You have a style." Kurt agreed and darted forward to kiss Blaine quickly and pulled back but Blaine caught him before he could get too far and pulled him onto his lap to kiss him properly.
"Ooh, looks like Anderson got Hummel out of his sour mood afterall." Nick said and ruined their little peace of harmony.
Kurt struggled off of Blaine's lap but he trapped him there lightly. "Blaine, let go." He promised he wouldn't push Kurt in that way again and he let him go instantly but Kurt didn't move, realizing that Blaine was remembering the last party they'd went to and he sighed and snuggled into Blaine's chest and pulled Blaine's arms back around him. "Sorry."
"No, I am, we're in a crowd and I know how you feel about PDA." Blaine only loosely linked his hands together now with Kurt's approval. He was impressed Kurt wasn't leaving his lap after-all. Kurt had really missed him this weekend too.
Kurt sat up a little to face the other two. "What are you talking about, Nick?"
"You were so grumpy this morning." Nick replied.
"Oh. That." Kurt sighed. "I don't like mornings, especially when they start before the sun rises and my friend Rachel was a horrible, horrible person this weekend and this morning woke me up a whole hour before I had to get up."
Blaine's arms tightened around Kurt. "You hadn't told me that."
"Yeah well, I didn't want to bother you with the dramatics of Rachel Berry." Or Burt Hummel nor Finn Hudson. "I missed you terribly this weekend and I didn't want to bog you down with the stupidity of the midget."
"Was that all that was wrong?" Blaine had heard a note, a pause, every time they talked but he didn't think it was anything seriously wrong.
"Yes, no." Kurt shrugged. "I got into a fight with my dad and Finn too about restrictions on my driver's license until further notice."
"You didn't get grounded, did you?" Nick asked fascinated by the idea and even more surprised that Kurt would get grounded. Wes and David had joined them too while Kurt explained his bad mood that morning and apologized for taking it out on them. They waved it off, they hadn't been perfect angels in that situation either. Blaine lifted a brow at that response, what had they done? Except, knowing Nick, he had an idea.
Kurt had only been grounded once and had gotten detention once too but neither had really been his fault, not really. He shrugged. "Not grounded because I had done something wrong, but it certainly felt that way at the time. I'm actually surprised he didn't ground me because I argued with him." It had been a really rare event, Kurt arguing with Burt, he couldn't recall that happening before, especially not where Kurt was getting into a shouting match with him.
Blaine kissed Kurt's shoulder in apology that it had to have happened at all and Kurt turned and kissed Blaine square on the mouth in thanks. It was fine though, everything was over and he hadn't heard much from Blaine about his dinner with his parents and the girl they had been trying to set him up with.
Blaine told them all about it now with a little bit of prompting from Kurt. The others hadn't heard either. "They roped me into singing a duet with her at a charity event for Christmas at a snobby party next week. So now I have to practice my part and then practice with her too after Glee Club this week. Thankfully she's busy today otherwise I'd have to go see her afterward today." The Warblers had a Christmas Concert too that they needed to prepare for. Kurt was looking at him with a smirk. "What?"
"Need a partner to practice with?"
"Who did you have in mind?" Blaine teased back and Kurt stuck his tongue out at him but he should have known better as Blaine's mouth wrapped around it before he could pull it back in.
David made choking sounds at the sickly sweetness of it, he'd already had to contend with Nick and Jeff constantly making out regardless of where they were, now Kurt and Blaine were getting braver with location too. It wasn't that he minded the fact that they were all boys, just that because they didn't have any girls here, he couldn't do it himself. Wes just smiled, knowing his girlfriend wasn't far and he'd be seeing her tonight, he could and couldn't wait in equal measures.
–
"This song?" Kurt asked dubiously when he looked at the sheet music in front of him. He and Blaine were sitting at the piano in the Juniors' common room, they had it completely to themselves.
"She picked it." Blaine explained. "I wouldn't have picked one... quite as sexy... for a Christmas event. At least, not with her."
This song was contentious depending on the lens you looked at it with. It could be viewed as playful and fun or a seduction song bordering on more, some even went so far as to call it nefarious intentions on the male's behalf.
Blaine looked at Kurt curiously. "You love old movies, especially old musicals, are you telling me that you've never watched one of the original versions of this song and how they flip it in the end? The second couple was much better than the first, especially one of the last switches with the purse and the pronoun and the very end." He wagged his eyebrows at Kurt there and Kurt blushed a soft pink, not quite as red as he normally got with that type of thing, probably because it wasn't fully about Kurt or Blaine or sex, just an old-timey movie.
"Remind me, what movie was that?" Kurt did love old musicals, how had he missed this one and Blaine had seen it? Blaine preferred things from the last 20-30 years or new ones. Kurt was the one that liked older movies, the romance of the past. He liked newer ones too but they were a very select few and quite often they were in a foreign language.
"Jupiter's Daughter?" Blaine dangled, wondering if Kurt just forgot that scene. Blaine had done research over the weekend, trying to find the right note to hit with this girl, so she didn't read more into it. With Kurt he'd go playful then seductive, he already knew that much, the playfulness had already started with this conversation and sitting side by side at the piano.
Kurt racked his brain, trying to recall that movie and that scene and then he lit upon it. "Oh." Blaine nodded and started in on the melody on the piano. Kurt's hands joined his and they picked up the tempo slightly and the music was richer for both of them adding their own flourishes and harmonization, even before they started singing.
They left the piano, not needing it, they were an acapella group after all and he and Kurt could carry a tune and melody without the piano. It may not have been the wisest song to practice with Kurt, Blaine realized as he chased him around the room, getting close enough to just brush against him before Kurt was pulling away without appearing as if he was doing it on purpose. Blaine felt like he was suddenly in everyone else's role, and not his own and he fought against those feelings, it was supposed to be that way for this song, that push-pull of want, wanting to stay and staying away because of society's norms. Kurt was being playful with it at least and Blaine put a bit more suggestion in his tone and looks as he got closer and Kurt pulled away later and later, letting him near for longer and then they were on either side of the couch and Kurt was very flirtatious just then and Blaine couldn't touch him. Somehow toward the end they ended up on the same side of the couch, sitting practically on top of each other and Blaine's mouth covered Kurt's, tipping him back into the couch to continue kissing him. His hands slid under Kurt's jacket and found the beltline of Kurt's pants and tugged out his shirt from it's tucked in location so his hands could find that warm flesh beneath.
Kurt gasped and tipped his head back and Blaine's lips moved to his exposed throat. His fingers just curled around Kurt's waist, they didn't even explore ground underneath the shirt, he had just wanted to touch Kurt.
Kurt was talking and he tried to tune into what he was saying, not wanting to miss a no or stop by accident. "Please don't do this with that girl after singing with her." He was trying to make a joke and was trying to lessen the intensity of their situation and Blaine took his cue to slowly back off. It hadn't been exactly what he'd intended with this song but damn, he'd been so turned on while singing and flirting with Kurt. He had been the one who was supposed to be doing the seduction in the song but it was Kurt who'd ended up seducing Blaine.
Blaine shook his head and stopped kissing Kurt but didn't move from their spot, just laid his head on Kurt's chest. "Damn it, Kurt. You're so unbelievably sexy."
Kurt ran his fingers along Blaine's gelled curls, not disrupting them but needing to touch them. "Thanks." Kurt didn't say more and Blaine lifted his head, looking at him expectantly and Kurt laughed. "Of course you're undeniably sexy too. Too sexy, sex on legs."
"You were eluding me in that song and dance."
"Isn't that exactly your answer then?" Kurt asked and his smart mouth caused Blaine to start kissing him again.
"Don't do that again."
"With you? Never." Kurt kissed him back.
"You're not blushing." Blaine observed as his lips left Kurt's again to press against his cheek, his ear, behind his ear. It took Kurt a minute to catch up, he was too distracted by Blaine's kisses.
"What?"
"Usually when you even think the word sex you turn into a tomato."
"Huh?" Kurt was still working on getting his brain working. "Uh, yeah, sure." His fingers flexed into the muscles on Blaine's back, raking them along but not scratching Blaine, they might get a little red with the pressure but no bruises. Blaine arched at the incredibly sexy move that Kurt probably didn't even know he was doing. He moaned and pressed firmer kisses to Kurt's throat. His fingers flexing into the skin along Kurt's sides. God this boy was so slender, he forgot that every time they spent any time apart, his hands could touch as they encircled his waist.
His entire body was covered in the smoothest flesh Blaine had ever encountered, so pale, so beautiful, so reactive to the slightest touch or comment. Blaine felt the heat just underneath that creamy alabaster skin, everything was so close to the surface, so easy to be seen. Blaine's head dipped lower and his lips nestled onto a spot just below Kurt's usual neckline and licked and sucked and sucked and licked and kissed and Kurt arched under him, into him and Blaine continued on that spot. It would be purple, yes, a flaw on his skin, yes, something Kurt would be irritated at him about, maybe, probably yes, but worth it? Yes. Blaine just marked Kurt as his, it might be a temporary mark but Blaine would never forget it's existence and might work on bringing it back out again but even if it wasn't there, it would always be there.
Blaine didn't feel guilty for this one love mark, it was a love bite, a hickey that denoted that Kurt and him were together. Kurt was his just as Blaine was Kurt's; they chose to be with each other. They chose to be the other's, but it wasn't really a choice, even though they both liked to pretend it was, they'd have found each other eventually, they were just lucky to find each other sooner than later.
A throat cleared and Blaine jerked up and away from Kurt's throat causing a grunt from the boy under him, who probably would have scrambled up and away from Blaine guiltily (if Blaine's weight wasn't still pinning him to the couch and their spot) and was now blushing madly, more lobster today than tomato and Blaine pressed his lips together to stop himself from smiling but didn't quite manage it as the corners still went up in his amusement at how cute Kurt was. Kurt scowled at him, knowing exactly what that look was about and covered his face with his hands.
"It's just Nick." Blaine reassured Kurt as his head lowered again to start kissing the back of Kurt's hands and forehead and anywhere he could find flesh under those hiding hands. "He doesn't matter, ignore him."
"Blaine." Kurt squealed in protest under him and Blaine sighed, so much for that make-out session.
Blaine looked back over to Nick and sent a glare his way. "Thanks a lot, Nick."
"My pleasure." Nick grinned cheekidly. "Need me to lend a helping hand? I have 2, one for each?" Nick's eyebrows wagged and Kurt turned even redder and sought anything that could help him hide, wanting to die of embarrassment but Blaine didn't want that.
"Get out of here." Blaine hissed, this was just making it worse and he'd never be able to entice Kurt back to where they were just at if Nick didn't leave.
"Just wanted to give you a heads up, the Juniors are returning." Nick winked and Blaine groaned and pushed himself up and off of Kurt and handed him a pillow once he sat up too, and took one for himself, he wrapped an arm around Kurt's shoulders, and pulled him along with Blaine as he scooted into a corner and pulled Kurt so he was lying against the pillow in his arms. Kurt was burying his face into his own pillow with his legs drawn up, trying to hide the fact of his existence at that moment.
They really shouldn't have done it in such a public space... Blaine wished they'd fallen onto his bed in his bedroom in the dorms after that, not somewhere where anyone could walk in and did. "It's just Nick." Blaine tried again in order to reassure Kurt but it had been too much, he was on lockdown with the PDA for the rest of the night, barely looking at Blaine in order not to flush or blush or get turned on again. He was overwhelmed by his reactions to Blaine and looking at him made it all that much worse and harder to hide, whereas Blaine could never take his eyes off of Kurt, despite the discomfort but when Kurt looked back at him- oh, how his body took over. Maybe it was better that Kurt was shy and couldn't bring himself to look at Blaine in that way quite as much, even though Blaine saw him peeking at him periodica`lly.
"God you're so damn cute." Blaine whispered against Kurt's hair while the other juniors piled in and kept talking around the room. Kurt still heard him and peeked at him out of the corner of his eye and Blaine nearly died at that mischievous look. Quickly he amended what he said. "Gorgeous, smoking hot, sexy."
Kurt's lips pulled into a smile and he leaned up to kiss Blaine, pulling out of his land of mortification long enough to satisfy a need they both had. Blaine would maintain his first comment though in his head, Kurt was just so damn cute.
Kurt couldn't look at Blaine because he knew he would see the desire reflected there in that gaze, he saw a lot of love and warmth there too and if he looked, he would be unable to do anything else but stare back and knew he had to keep a cooler head. He couldn't just be lost in Blaine's eyes forever even though that's exactly what he wanted to do. He still needed to eat and sleep after all.
Still, whenever Blaine wasn't looking at him, and he had a sense on when Blaine was and wasn't looking his way, he would look his fill of Blaine, his boyfriend was a god and like a god it was hard to look at him too long without being blinded. Kurt hadn't been joking when he called him sex on legs, that's all Kurt's thoughts seemed to be centered on most of the time with Blaine, more and more that's all he could think about. He wanted to maintain that friendlier side of things too, where they shared interests and jokes and did things that weren't sex but oh how his body just flared whenever Blaine touched him or looked at him with that gaze.
Kurt knew it was probably going to happen soon and he wanted it, he did, he just wasn't sure if he was ready for the fall out. He was sure though that once they did, he'd wonder why he had made such a big deal about waiting and criticize himself for even bothering to wait. He also knew that once they started, they wouldn't stop for anything or anyone. Not that they'd always be doing it, but wouldn't feel bad about sneaking off when they had enough time to do so.
Other couples had sex the first day they met and it never interfered with their relationship. Kurt had wanted it to mean something and with Blaine it definitely would. So why the hold out? Because for all the straight couples he knew, sex had changed something fundamental with their relationship, no matter how prepared they had been for it or how long they'd been together. He only had Nick and Jeff to compare it to gay couples and those two weren't an especially great example. They were a fantastically strong couple, yes, but they were flirts with other males too, gay or straight and really flirty with Kurt, not as much with Blaine though. He didn't exactly want their relationship. They weren't in quite an open relationship but definitely open to alterations to a monogamous relationship.
Blaine had pointed it out though, he didn't blush nearly as much now with the thought of sex in general, did it mean he was ready? He supposed if he had to ask, then the answer was probably no.
He sighed and settled into Blaine's warm embrace. While his jacket was buttoned up, Blaine's hand was still on the exposed area of flesh at his waist and his fingers were doing intoxicating things to his senses and for all the world, it appeared as Blaine didn't even know he was doing it. Nobody else could see it though and while Blaine continued on with his conversations as if he wasn't touching his boyfriend, Kurt knew better, they weren't mindless strokes, but very deliberate ones.
Kurt tried to appear just as unaffected as he talked to another boy. He kept getting side-tracked though and forgetting where he was in the conversation, yet he didn't shift away or swat at Blaine to stop. Kurt got his revenge though by laying his hand very carefully and deliberately on the part of his thigh closest to his knee and just rested it there for a long time before his own fingers began an almost unnoticeable rhythm but he knew Blaine felt it with the slightest movement under his fingers, the slightest tensing and the uncomfortable shift, thankful of the pillow and Kurt's body hiding his response. Kurt didn't stop and the fingers at his waist pressed slightly harder causing Kurt to laugh internally.
Wes walked in on the boys and cleared his throat. "Kurt, and anyone who commutes, looks like you'll be staying the night. We'll set up some makeshift beds in here for anyone who doesn't have a room on campus. I'll go let the other years know too, the weather outside has gotten too bad for anyone to even attempt to drive home."
Kurt looked up towards Blaine and clashed with his gorgeous hazel eyes, they looked green today in the firelight rather than brown. They shared a knowing smile before Kurt tipped his head up to kiss Blaine before disentangling himself to call his father and let him know the new plan for the night. Blaine hurried after him, not wanting to be away from his side for even the length of the conversation. He wanted to drag Kurt with him down the hallway toward his room even as he talked to Burt and he did, much to Kurt's amusement.
–
There was no promise from Blaine to Burt about not doing anything inappropriate with his son while on campus overnight this time.
While they wouldn't be going passed any boundaries either had set up prior to this night, it was a different kind of night than the others they shared. For one, Kurt hadn't brought his pajamas, no full body covering this time, Blaine would be privy to viewing and touching a lot more skin than he ever dared dream about seeing any time soon or often. Blaine only owned one pair of pajamas himself and it was currently in the hamper after this morning's wet dream about Kurt. Had he known Kurt would have been spending the night, he may have washed them for Kurt's propriety but if he'd known this was a possibility, he may have just chucked them out and never worn them again. Except he would have had to at Kurt's house over the weekends. He usually only wore his boxers and undershirt to sleep in, even in the winter. Maybe less.
Kurt slowly undressed in front of Blaine, who sat on his hands, incredibly tempted to help Kurt with that task, it was going too slow and there were too many layers, even in the uniform. There had been no point in having Blaine go into the bathroom while Kurt changed or vice versa, Kurt would be wearing the clothes he was stripping down into in front of Blaine the entire night anyway and this way was a bit less uncomfortable than hiding under the blanket while Blaine later joined him, also undressed. If he got up to use the bathroom he'd be exposed the same way he was now.
Truthfully though, he was kind of enjoying teasing Blaine like this too. He saw the anguish on Blaine's face but not from sadness but holding back his desires and it was very obvious that Blaine had desires. Kurt blushed a little thinking about it and Blaine groaned quite audibly at that.
"Your blushes gut me, they're going to kill me one of these days. You're so incredibly hot when you do that."
"Not a little boy then?" Kurt asked and locked eyes with Blaine, not looking away even as he let loose another garment and instead of dropping it into a pile on the floor like he could have, he folded it neatly and stacked it on his desk.
"Definitely not that, never that." Blaine rocked in his spot, he was going to explode from this tormenting strip-tease. "Please-"
"Nope, you stay right there or I might have to go sleep in that bed." Kurt tilted his head toward the neglected bed in the corner across the room.
"No! No, no, I'll be a good little boy and stay right here!" Blaine's smile almost cut the strength from Kurt's knees and he had to look away a moment just to be able to breath and continue. Otherwise he might just say to hell with it and jump Blaine then and there. More and more often he was starting to feel that way, throw out all carefully laid plans...
"You're also definitely not a little boy." Kurt said before he was brave enough to find Blaine's eyes again and the warmth poured out of him like honey and it bolster Kurt along and he slowly finished unbuttoning the shirt that Blaine had disrupted earlier and never got put back to where it had been and the tails had stuck out when they finally did stand up and left the common room to go back to Blaine's dorm room. It hadn't been obvious before that to the others in the room, but then it had and there was a small chuckle that went through the room knowing that they'd been up to more earlier. Neither told them otherwise and Nick was probably explaining what he'd walked in on even now.
There was a slight pink to Kurt's cheeks as he thought about the other boys speculating on their sex life, but he didn't let it get to him too much just then, his love life with Blaine was just that, theirs, no one else needed to know the details and they could guess all they wanted, they'd never know the truth for sure.
He folded the shirt neatly and in a way that would be free of creases and wrinkles the next day without even having to touch it with an iron. The nice thing about staying here tonight meant that he'd get another hour and a half of sleep in the morning... maybe. It would depend on how nice Blaine was to him in the morning. It was set down next to the tie and blazer and Blaine squirmed in his seat, this was taking too long and he was now looking at Kurt's bare arms. There was still an undershirt on and it would probably stay on too. It was a little lopsided as it had been pushed up by his hands earlier in the night and Kurt hadn't had a chance to fix it, not without telling everyone else where Blaine's hands had been nor without showing those same onlookers some of his skin that he didn't show just anyone.
He just wanted to start touching that skin that was now exposed. Kurt was so cruel as he pulled the undershirt back into place, hiding that spot that his hands had loved to touch earlier today, a place he hadn't touched before tonight. Blaine vowed he would definitely be touching it again tonight, would wrap his arms around that bare strip of flesh at his waist and wouldn't let go the entire night, his hand would be splayed along Kurt's lower abdomen north of the waistband of his bottoms.
What kind of bottoms did Kurt wear? Blaine was dying to know. He was dying to know. Kurt turned around with his back to Blaine as his fingers reached for his belt and Blaine shot up from the spot on the bed he'd been forced to sit on. "Nope, no way, you're turning towards me for this part or I'm going to do it myself." He turned Kurt around and his fingers interlaced with Kurt's at his buckle.
Kurt jerked and pulled back from Blaine with a surprised hiss at suddenly being there with him and Blaine cursed at himself for scaring Kurt. He drew him carefully into his chest. "I'm sorry." He whispered into Kurt's hair. "It's just me. I'm sorry."
"I'll- I'll do it so you can see." Kurt promised. "Please, just go back to your spot on the bed. I won't be able to if you're right here, if you're touching me."
Blaine held Kurt to him with a loose embrace for a while longer, pressing kissed onto the top of Kurt's bowed head and before he went back to his spot he slid a finger gently under Kurt's chin and guided it up so he could look Kurt in the face, Kurt couldn't hide his slight wince at the action and Blaine questioned that, he'd never done that to Kurt before, hadn't needed to, and he was incredibly gentle in doing so. Kurt breathed deeply and raised his eyes to Blaine, pushing out whatever bad memory assailed him just then. Blaine's jaw tightened fractionally and he worked his tongue between his upper teeth and lip, they were cemented together and worked on calming his features, he didn't want to scare Kurt with a fierce look at the moment, at least not one with that emotion driving it and looked into Kurt's eyes with compassion and gentleness, with sweet love, not sex on the brain at that precise moment.
Kurt swallowed and nodded. "I'm ok, really Blaine, it's fine." Kurt offered him a devastatingly sexy smile. "I haven't finished undressing for you." While he wouldn't undress completely for Blaine tonight, it was definitely fun to watch and would be something Blaine would never forget and would probably wake up with morning wood because of it for years to come. It would be enough, even the little he'd already done would be enough to turn Blaine on for forever, even fully dressed Kurt would manage that.
Blaine licked and bit his bottom lip for a second before he nodded. His decision and actions clear in his mind and he leaned forward, tipping his head back slightly so his lips were high enough to reach Kurt's and kissed him gently before removing his finger from Kurt's chin and going back to his seat and while he wasn't as hot and horny as he had been a few minutes ago, it didn't take much, just Kurt's steamy gaze on his to get him right back to that point easily and quickly.
The belt was loosened and then tugged out with a few hip thrusts thrown in which caused Blaine to laugh, Kurt had remembered what he'd said about wanting to watch that in the privacy of his room. There was a short-lived shimmy as Kurt moved toward him a little but then returned back to the desk to drop the belt off and instead of repeating his earlier mistake, turned back to Blaine as he unbuttoned his pants.
Blaine's breath caught in his throat with an audible gasp and stayed lodged there while the button popped out of it's hole then Kurt ever so slowly, going one tooth at a time, slid the pull tab down and he could hear each click as the slider went over each tooth.
Blaine's hands rose to his face, needing to touch something, to occupy his hands and he was going insane as he watched Kurt who was laughing in self-pleasure at Blaine's obvious distress and need. He put that look on Blaine's face. He had never felt sexier in his life and whenever he was feeling unsure about his looks or Blaine's interest in him, how could this god fall in love with a mere moral like him? this would pop back into his head and he would be reassured.
Blaine meanwhile was wondering how, he, the mortal in his own mental story of their relationship, got so lucky as to be with this ethereal creature, this angel? He hadn't known one could exist until he met Kurt and he was sure it was all a mistake, that Kurt would realize some day that he was too good for Blaine or go back to where he came from and Blaine wouldn't be able to follow. Kurt was so pure and the slight blush that was always a second away for even the most innocent thought just proved it to him again and again. The expanse of white flesh was unmarred except for the bruise he'd caused earlier with his mouth and it was the only thing reminding Blaine that for at least now, Kurt was his and was with him, that he was flesh and bone too and was able to touch him, had touched him and would be able to do so again.
Then the zipper was all the way down and the moment Blaine had been dreaming of since he met Kurt was slowly revealed as the pants slipped down his hips ever so slowly. Then he stopped as a thought came to him. "Oh, I forgot about the socks!" Kurt sat down on that nearly forgotten bed and Blaine groaned in pain and annoyance, how could Kurt do this to him?
He had a thankful respite for Blaine though as he pulled them off quickly, tiring of this game too and had only thrown in that last tease as an after thought and was already regretting it. He threw the socks at the desk and got back to his feet, going back to the main event when he winced as he realized that the floor was colder than he'd realized. His toes curled into the rug beneath his feet and Blaine had never been a foot person before but all of a sudden he couldn't look away from them.
His eyes lifted and sought Kurt's out again. "Just absolutely flawlessly gorgeous."
The pinkness was bright red just then and he hesitated in lowering his pants as he worked on his own breathing again. "You can't do that to me, I will never get anywhere if you keep distracting me with unearned compliments."
"They may be on something you have only a little bit to do with, but they're not wrong or inaccurate, you are gorgeous."
Then Kurt revealed his Christmas gift to Blaine, he may not have known it at the time but nothing would compare to it, no money in the world would be able to buy Blaine something as precious as seeing Kurt there, not exposed but unhidden from his hungry gaze. Yes of course he would have liked to have seen Kurt in all of his naked glory and that would come, some day, Blaine would take what he was given that night with both hands and cradle it's preciousness for as long as he had it. Kurt was just in his underclothes but it was the sexiest thing Blaine had ever seen.
"Come here." Blaine beckoned Kurt to him but Kurt held back with a teasing smile. "Why not?"
"You're still wearing too many clothes, I feel very under-dressed compared to you, and that's not a comment most people would ever be able to make." Kurt wagged his brows in a very Nick like way and Blaine couldn't help the laughter that bubbled out of him. "I think you ought to return the favor."
Blaine stripped far too quickly for Kurt's liking but he wouldn't argue about the results or the impatience Blaine was feeling to be close to Kurt again. It was very, very flattering. "Slow down, I want to watch you-"
"Next time-" Blaine growled and ditched all his clothes but his undershirt and boxers and flung himself at a giggling Kurt who went with him rather than tried to stay upright as they tumbled onto the bed. Trunks, they were trunks, he should have known but damn, Kurt still surprised him with them and they were incredibly sexy. Blaine would never be able to pull them off and for his straight legged pants he switched his own boxers out for boxer-briefs but always a longer length than what Kurt was showing off right then. He liked the roomier fit of boxers, especially with the roomy slacks they wore but Kurt always kept it tight.
Blaine paused above Kurt before devouring his mouth with his, he looked down at his Kurt who was smiling up at him, impatiently waiting for Blaine to finish what he'd started and was so darn happy and Blaine was reassured after pouncing on him like that. He didn't let his hands stray from Kurt's chest and arms but they definitely covered a lot of ground over the slight body under his. Kurt was tentatively exploring himself, knowing he could but still unsure of himself and the butterfly touches were driving Blaine crazy in a good way. Blaine hadn't settled between Kurt's legs this time nor did he straddle Kurt, instead they were hip to hip, side by side. Had they been able to touch like that in their undergarments, they would have been lost before they even started.
His hands slid into Kurt's hair and held on tight but not painfully so nor with enough force to pull any strands out and Kurt couldn't do the same with the amount of gel in Blaine's hair and he laughed against Kurt's mouth. "I dare you to still try it." Instead Kurt rubbed his hands over Blaine's head, causing him to groan against Kurt's mouth in protest. "Not cool. You're going to make me so frizzy!"
Kurt nipped at Blaine's lips but continued doing so. "What's fair is fair. You know how I like people touching my hair and here I am without any product to put in it tomorrow..." He shook his head in a mock pout and Blaine's lips covered his, smoothing away that expression, not taking it remotely seriously.
"You can use mine." Blaine offered and Kurt laughed.
"No way. Sorry." Kurt started smoothing back the hair he'd finally managed to disrupt from it's perfect coils kept tight against Blaine's head. "It works for you, but it would not fit my hair type." He looked into Blaine's green-brown eyes as they kissed, not looking away for one instant.
"I'm sure we can ask someone for something that won't ruin your hair." Blaine teased as his mouth moved away from Kurt's and slowly made tracks towards that hickey he'd started earlier, he wondered how big he could make it before someone noticed or Kurt hit him.
"Don't you dare!" Kurt moaned as Blaine's mouth found that tender flesh and he continued on his path down, wanting to explore more of the exposed skin. His lips trailed a path down but it was his tongue that trailed the path back up and Kurt writhed under him and the more Kurt moaned or groaned or moved, the more Blaine was getting to that terrible but sweet edge. He didn't want this to end but he was also so incredibly hot and turned on that he knew he wouldn't be able to control it. He just wanted Kurt in his hands forever and always.
Kurt wasn't being as shy about his exploration of Blaine's newly exposed skin either. Blaine usually had his arms bared in the time that he'd known him, but the shoulders were new ground and territory to explore. Kurt had enough of being on the bottom and turned them so it was now his turn to be on top and he controlled their interactions from then on with his new position.
Blaine jerked and contorted when Kurt kissed him right over his bellybutton with the shirt still between Kurt's mouth and Blaine's skin. "You're literally going to kill me one of these days." Blaine complained and Kurt concurred, but it would be Kurt who died because of what Blaine did to him. Blaine was just better about expressing his thoughts and feelings about this, Kurt was still shy and learning how to talk dirty and say these types of things. He felt them, thought them, but they were harder to push passed his lips than they were for Blaine. He hoped Blaine knew that he thought the same way.
Kurt kissed his way up slowly over Blaine's chest and veered off the straight line he was going to settle his mouth over one of Blaine's nipples and the moisture, heat, pressure had Blaine unraveling and he held Kurt's head against it while he spasmed a release that he hadn't wanted to just then. He hadn't wanted this to ever end and with his release, Kurt would back off, slow down.
His hips were still jerking against the air but he controlled it as much as he could so he could feel the silkiness of Kurt's hair under his fingers. The silkiness of Kurt's skin along the back of his neck. It was probably actually better that he wasn't in the throes of desire right now, because then he could go as slow as he liked and have Kurt mewling, begging for him to stop and never stop at the same time, to help him over that very pinnacle. Blaine admitted Kurt was right, what was fair was fair and he tortured Kurt with bringing him to that edge only to retreat. His own desires were flaring to life again and he had to tamp it down so he could do this for Kurt, do this to him for revenge of that incredibly slow strip tease that he never thought would end.
"You're- you – Blaine – oh my- Blaine, please – you're – you're – you're killing me." Kurt gasped out, he wasn't making any coherent sentences and Blaine grinned as his mouth finally found where only his fingers had ventured since his own release. He hadn't touched Kurt with his lips since and even just his fingers were doing very wicked things to Kurt's libido.
"Turn about is fair play." He teased Kurt before his mouth did what they both wanted and settled over Kurt's lower earlobe and he sucked it into his mouth and bit down gentle, not causing any tooth marks to appear on that fragile skin. His chin brushed the underside of his ear and it was Kurt's turn to scream and pant heavily as his own release was found. They were lasting longer than they used to- was that a good thing? Blaine supposed it was, since he got to touch more of Kurt before either of them came. That didn't mean however that they weren't rock hard and keening for the other the instant one of them gave the other a sexy look with promises for later.
He didn't even get to run his mouth down Kurt's chest like he wanted to. He was also hard again but he would give Kurt a minute, this was all still so very new to him. As far as Blaine knew, he'd only come at two different occasions so far in his life as he probably still wasn't using his hand to help himself out. He'd be crimson for days if he knew how often Blaine had to the memories and thoughts and dreams of Kurt. He didn't even know if Kurt suffered the same uncomfortable morning problems Blaine had since meeting the lighter haired brunette. He knew Kurt had gotten hard, often, in Blaine's presence but had fought it back down every time he'd been with him and they were close, except for that night in their jeans after the championship football game.
Kurt looked sleepy and bemused as he propped his head up on his hands over Blaine's chest, his elbows resting on the bed near Blaine's ears. He had been given the all clear to go back to regular activities with his arm earlier that week, no more weight restrictions. Blaine had put him to the test with that announcement, pulling Kurt on top of him and telling him to push himself up and off if that's really what he wanted to do.
"Round two?" He asked with a slight one-sided quirk of his lips and Blaine toppled him over onto his back and showed him exactly how ready he was for another round.

EAN: despite what they say on Glee, and while I love the scene, especially the conversation leading up to the song and then a little bit after, I really don't think it was the best harmonizing they'd done together in the entire show. I found their skating duet much, much, much better (White Christmas), especially when Blaine goes lower and Kurt adds that little bit of Dolly Parton inflection on the one note, shivers! But I do like how cute they are in that scene during Baby It's Cold Outside, especially because they're both flirting without going overboard with it and not quite together yet and how different Blaine was there from later seasons, not saying better, just different.
BTW, do you know how hard it is to write when I keep getting side-tracked by YouTube videos of random Glee clips for hours?
