Thanks to Bristlefrost for the review! :)
Today's chapter got really sad :( My anxiety was peaking, inspiration struck and this just happened. Though I'm pretty happy with it. :)
ENJOY!
No 8. Isolation (225 words)
It was a painfully familiar feeling. Hardly the first time it had happened. Though that didn't lessen the heavy feeling that burned in Chase as his siblings chose to leave without him. Again.
He should be used to this by now. Even when they were kids, far before they ever left the lab, Chase had been the odd sibling. He had liked other things, and due to his super intelligence, had matured faster than Adam and Bree. He hadn't enjoyed the pointless destruction that his siblings had and had easily gotten frustrated when they wouldn't understand what he was trying to explain.
He'd thought things would change... once they got older. But even after they met Leo and their lives – while still highly unusual – became more "normal", things were still the same.
In a house of six, Chase often felt completely alone. Sometimes he even did with his siblings right there with him. Maybe that's why he'd always enjoyed spending time with Mr. Davenport. Because with him it wasn't as obvious how different Chase was, how different his mind worked.
Because that was just it, wasn't it? Chase was made to be the smartest human on the planet. That meant there was no mind like his. In some ways, loneliness was his only true companion. Thanks to his super intelligence, because of his super intelligence.
PS. The next chapter of In Your Time of Need should be up any minute now ;)
