The day after meeting the parents

Since Danny and I got back together things have been different, we have been taking things slow. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with taking it slow. I do wish that we could at least make out again, we did at the drive in, but we haven't made out since.

Last night was fun; I met Danny's parents, they were nice, welcoming and easy to talk to. My mother asked me when I got home how I found meeting his parents, I explained that I was nervous at first but then I got over it.

I had just finished having breakfast when I heard the phone ring. I got up to answer it, it was Danny. He wanted to know if I wanted to go to the beach? I told him "That sounds like a good idea"

He replied "I'll see you in ten minutes babe"

I told my mother that Danny was coming over to take me to the beach. I glanced down at my hand, Danny's ring was sitting perfectly. I knew that he respected me now, I also knew that he wouldn't do anything stupid again. Somehow I felt strange, I looked out the window and spotted Danny outside.

I hugged my mother and told her I would see her later. I made my way to his car. He looked at me "Hey beautiful, you ready to go to the beach?"

I nodded "Let's go"

On the short drive to the beach, we talked; I noticed that he kept looking at my hand, something was off. Maybe he didn't love me anymore, did I do something wrong? He never called me beautiful before, something was wrong.

He was going to ask for his ring back. I know he's going to ask me to give it back. We got to the beach and he got out of the car, I followed him and we went down to the rocks.

I was mentally preparing myself to fight, he then turned to me and smiled "Babe, the reason I asked you out here was so that we could talk"

Oh no, here it comes; he's gonna break up with me. I looked at him "Danny, if you're gonna end it, end it!"

He looked perplexed "Babe, I'm not ending anything, I love you"

I stood there in shock "So what did you want to talk about?"

He looked at me again and smiled "Listen, I know we haven't been together long, but I wanted to give you something"

I looked at him, he slipped his ring off my finger and he pulled something out of his pocket I gasped "Danny what are you..."

He looked at me "Babe, it's not an engagement ring, it's a promise ring"

I sighed "Ok, thank goodness; I think we should wait for a year, and get to know each other better, before we even start to think about getting married"

He laughed "Trust me Sandy, when I do propose; it will be somewhere fancy, not at the beach, now I want to ask you to wear this ring, as a promise that I will always love, respect and cherish you, I will never take you for granted again and it's also a promise that one day we will get married, babe I know I was acting strange on the way over here and I'm sorry if I made you think that I was ending it. I'm not, I never want to lose you again"

I hugged him "Thank you, oh Danny it's beautiful; I love you too"

We spent the rest of the day at the beach, watching the water crash over the rocks, just like we did that summer. I couldn't help but look at my hand. I felt so foolish for thinking he was going to end it. I laid my head on his chest and we sat there for ages, talking, laughing, kissing. It was an amazing day.

We got back to my place after spending the day at the beach, we talked about heading to frosty's tomorrow; just us, no interruptions.

He walked me to my door, I went to go in and he pulled me back "I think you're forgetting something"

I looked at him, I giggled "Why I don't know what you mean"

He looked at me and pointed to his lips, I giggled again. I raised myself up to kiss him, he grabbed me by the hips and kept me there, we kissed with such passion it made my head spin.

We broke apart "Wow Zuko; that was something else"

He smirked "Baby, there's more where that came from, just be patient"

I grinned, I decided to tease him, so I looked at him "Tell me about it stud"

He pulled me in again "You, have no idea what that does to me"

I grinned "Well maybe one day, you can show me"

He looked stunned, but he smiled at me "That's a promise"

We kissed one final time, we parted after promising to go to frosty's tomorrow. He walked back to his car, he looked at me and smiled, I blew him a kiss and he pretended to catch it. He was so sweet, when I got inside I told my mother and father, he had just got home from work, I also showed them the promise ring. My father smiled and my mother grinned, they seemed to be happy for me.

I have to get some sleep, because tomorrow I'm going on a date with Danny. I hope that tomorrow, was like today, here's hoping...
