Escape, One-Shot
At midnight, while Alvin tossed and turned a few times in his sleep, Theodore awoke from a nightmare. After he accidentally slapped Simon's face with his hand, Theodore apologized before making his way to the cat carrier's front door, which was still locked. Feeling sorry for his youngest brother, Simon ran over to Theodore and skidded in his tracks by the front metal door. Just as he accidentally slammed against the front metallic door, Simon was held back fast by Theodore and Alvin, who noticed Cruella rousing awake but quickly falling back to sleep.
Though he was relieved, Theodore asked his brothers, "Guys, I want to go home… to Dave."
"Don't worry, Theodore. By morning, we'll be outside this cage and running home to Dave in Los Angeles. You'll see," said Simon, giving his brother a little encouragement.
Thinking momentarily, Alvin told his two brothers, "Hmm, Simon you may have a point about seeing."
"What do you mean, Alvin?" asked Simon, becoming frustrated.
"Look up there! I believe I found a back door on the cat carrier's ceiling," said Alvin with confidence.
"It isn't locked. Is it?" asked Theodore, growing nervous.
Shaking his head, Simon replied on a happier note, "No, but Cruella didn't bother to lock this cage door. She must have thought we wouldn't be smart enough to climb out of the cage from the ceiling."
"It's perfect! We can escape from there!" cried Alvin in excitement.
"Alvin," muttered Simon, shushing his brother just as Cruella jerked a little in her bed.
Sighing in relief, Alvin told his brother, "So, we have a plan now?"
"Of course Alvin," said Simon, "Now, all we have to do is escape."
"That should be easy… I hope," admitted Theodore, a little worried.
"Come on, let's go back to sleep," said Simon, as he led Theodore back to the end of the cat carrier, away from the front door.
When the sun's light crept over the horizon, Cruella dressed and ate breakfast early, before taking the cat carrier out of her bedroom. She was surprised to see the three chipmunks still inside, yet she brought them nonetheless inside her car, at the front passenger seat. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, on the other hand, kept their eyes closed until they were inside Cruella's office at the House of De Vil and the cat carrier was seated on her desk. While Cruella distracted herself with numerous phone calls and paperwork, the chipmunk brothers did their best to keep the top door's sound to a silent boom, before Simon and Alvin made their way out of the cage first. Then it was Theodore's turn, at which Alvin and Simon hurriedly pulled their youngest brother out of the cat carrier.
Just as the three chipmunks were free of the cat carrier, Cruella, not looking up, told the trio, "Going somewhere? I'm surprised you figured your way out of the cat carrier, but you won't escape the House of De Vil on your own. You'll be squished and captured again anyway."
Alvin immediately cried, angrily, "No. We won't, Miss De Vil!"
Simon tried to intervene, "Alvin, we don't have time for…"
"Get off me, Simon!" said Alvin, pushing away from his brother, before he pointed his finger at Cruella. "You are a sick and twisted woman! You made me believe you were a friendly sort, but now that time has passed! We know your secret and we could send the police in here for your animal cruelty, as well as the cruelty you're about to do to us!"
"Well, in that case, why wait for the police to show up?" asked Cruella, just as she called in, "Alonzo, capture these three chipmunks and make sure to find a cage that actually locks all doors." She paused, and then told her butler, "Get to it!"
Stuttering, Alonzo admitted, "There's – one problem, Miss De Vil."
"And what is that?" asked Cruella, a little impatient.
"The – chipmunks – are – gone," said Alonzo, stuttering uncontrollably.
"Well – then why don't you catch them? Get to it, Alonzo!" shouted Cruella, now enraged, as she watched Alonzo leave her office in a hurry.
o-o-o
Soon after leaving Cruella's office through one of the double doors, as Alonzo made his way inside the room, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore snuck down the white, curved hallway in haste. Just as they crossed into the worker's area of the House of De Vil, the chipmunk brothers heard Cruella shouting at Alonzo to capture them alive. Realizing they were in danger, the chipmunk brothers darted over to Anita's desk and fled inside, momentarily.
Seconds into joining his brothers, Alvin was stopped by Anita, who asked in concern, "Alvin, what are you and your brothers doing? I have to work here."
Alvin tried to explain as best he could, "Sorry Anita, but we can't trust Cruella right now and we really don't have time to…"
Anita interrupted in a serious tone, "You cannot trust Cruella? Why? She has done nothing wrong."
"Uh… you don't know her like we do, Anita," admitted Simon, nervously.
"Yeah, she's going to… ah!" screamed Theodore, immediately jumping out of Anita's desk.
"We'll… see you around, Anita," said Simon, hurriedly jumping out of the desk's shelf after Theodore.
Kissing Anita's hand, Alvin told her, "I always liked you."
"Alvin," barked Simon, furiously.
"Gotta go," said Alvin, hastily, as he jumped down from the desk, onto a white and black walkway.
Alvin then turned tail and fled into the receptionist's office. Simon and Theodore followed at a speedy pace, but were nearly captured by Alonzo. Using quick thinking, Alvin was able to distract Alonzo long enough for him and his brothers to escape the office and enter the entrance/waiting room, where they waited impatiently for someone to open the front glass doors.
Upon Alonzo reaching the three chipmunks, Theodore stopped the butler and told him, "Wait, sir. Hi, my name is…"
"He knows who we are, Theodore," said Simon, frustrated.
"I know, but we want to escape without making enemies, Simon," said Theodore, before he faced Alonzo and told him, "Sir, you can't capture us and send us back to Cruella. She's a bad lady, and if she captures us, then we won't help Dave Seville jumpstart his career. He would also be mad and sad to see us if we were turned into fur coats. You have to let us escape this place. We promise to make it up to you, Alonzo, if you free us."
Nodding, Alonzo told the three chipmunks, "All right…" He let his voice drop as he opened the front glass door. "Now go, before I change my mind."
"Thank you, sir," said Theodore, happily.
"You won't regret this, Alonzo!" said Simon, also happy.
"Do tell Anita that I still like her," said Alvin, coolly.
"Alvin, come on," said Simon in frustration.
Simon quickly grabbed Alvin's arm before Alonzo closed the front glass door to the House of De Vil. After he and his brothers waved to the butler one last time, Simon and Theodore followed Alvin at a run down the stone steps. Simon's plan seemed to have worked out all right, but the three chipmunks weren't expecting what would happen next.
