Authors Note: Thank you all for the reviews. Now key things for everyone to know for this chapter: Izuku just got a reality check and has been holding in his fears at being useless, his anger at not figuring out how to fight like Katsuki suggested, and he is a very afraid child that's been told he will have to protect the world and kill monsters. To fight things that even Heroes probably can't handle...wonder when he'll snap and learn his lesson to depend on others...Soon Dabi...soon...
The day after he talked with Moon Fang, Izuku started to look through the sub chapters of the Monster section of the Grimoire. For the eight year old he started to learn just what Moon Fang was talking about. About Monsters that held no regard for life. Of Monsters that would show no mercy to any human.
Their were four things he learned were basic among all Monsters. All Monsters were able to have above human speed and strength. Every Monster could create a barrier to stop humans from interfering with their prey. Each Monster could gain human intelligence the older they got. Every Monster had a unique ability.
Slowly the days passed. Izuku had started to drift away from Katsuki. He didn't always answer his new friend Ochaco. For each thing he learned about what could come after him...he started to study more and more. Inko could only watch him as he grew more and more quiet. She couldn't figure out what he was doing. The only thing she knew was that he had started to bring books on Monsters, of Myths, of Legends, to Fairy tales and tall tales to their house from the library and he had started to read them quickly and he would start to scratch notes in a notebook, but when she looked, there was nothing for her to see.
Izuku had even started to do this in class and barely payed attention unless it was in his science class. It had drawn the teacher into calling Inko more than once.
Then came the Argument. The Bakugou's had come for a lunch dinner on a weekend. To Inko and Matsuki, they had noticed that their boys who had once could have called each other brothers, had started to argue.
It had seemed like nothing at first... until Izuku had roared at Katsuki to shut up. Their heads had snapped to the boys in the backyard.
Inkos heart thumped as she saw him struggle to contain anger. His normally kind face with a brilliant smile had turned into a snarl. Matsuki was startled as she noticed something strange.
Izuku's eyes had narrowed and they glowed a toxic green. His shadow seemed to shift and curl as if trying to dance to an unknown tune. Sparks of green lightning came from his right palm. The temperature outside started to slowly drop.
"You have no idea what is coming. Don't bother me Kacchan. I will forge my own path. I can't do everything with you! I need to understand what I'm doing myself. So Shut Up about my supposed 'Quirk' already!"
With that he stormed past both of the mothers to his room. Katsuki had uncharacteristically fell to his knees and started to tear up.
Izuku refused his mother's questions or answering the Quirk doctors when Inko took him after his display of power. It had gotten to the point where Izuku had decided to run away. Everyone he knew would be in danger soon enough. He needed strength. He needed to learn his powers without distraction.
The only thing stopping him was the knowledge that he wasn't prepared. After all, he wouldn't be able to stop, let alone destroy the monsters that he had come in contact with.
It was hard for Izuku to practice with his mom hovering over him. The worse part was that he started to snap at everyone. The school had even started to recommend that Izuku get taken to counseling.
Every month that passed seemed to have Izuku withdraw more into himself. The only person or thing he responded to was Bella. The small cat had gained a reputation of keeping itself hidden on Izuku's head as the boy had added a slip of paper with an invisibility enchantment.
For the Midoriya household, there were many weird things happening. Izuku's feet were rarely heard. Fire caught on curtains. An outlet short circuited. A washing machine flooded the laundry room. Ice covered the dishes or glasses. A crow had fallen into a window and a large snake had been found fighting Sunny in the backyard. The crow had seemingly disappeared, only for feathers to appear by window sills and at their entrance every other day or so. The snake had taken to staying by Sunny and curling up to the bear at night. Later on the snake was called Jade for her green skin.
October came for the Midoriya's. It was a normal school day for Izuku. The only difference was that Katsuki was walking with him. Both had refused to talk to each other after the Argument.
The earth shaking was the first clue that something wrong was starting to happen. A roar that made Izuku fall to his knee in pain was the second. The house behind the kids erupting into debris was the next. The last clue was the rising of a stone figure. Its structure was that of a human. A human giant that is.
Izuku called out for Moon Fang with a yell and the black wolf formed from his shadow. "Take Katsuki home. I have to distract it until Heroes get here."
He watched as the thing stomped its way towards him. It was all it took for him to grab the ground and imagine a sturdy wall. A huge wall shifted into being as the street rose up to greet the creature. It's fist pulled back to break the wall. Izuku slumped in exhaustion. That had been his biggest spell he could feel the sweat on his brow as his sight grew dim.
"Hey kid! We need to get out of here!"
The sound of crumbling earth was in his ears and he saw no more even as hands shifted his arms over someones shoulder.
