Chapter 14
After some small preparations, Miroku ran into the hospital. He needed to look extremely worried and maybe add a few tears. He ran up to the main desk and with great worry in his voice asked the receptionist. "Please, I'm looking for my fiancé. I was told she was just brought into this hospital." The nurse of course asked for his name and who he was looking for. He answered the question quickly. "My name is Miroku and her name is Kagome Higurashi. Her boss called me and said he just brought her here. Please, I must see her."
The main nurse started to look up the information. "Ah, yes here she is. It seems her boss did not mention her having a partner? Kagome is in the intensive care unit, only very close family may see her at this time."
Miroku knew it was time to add a few tears. "I need to see my future wife somehow. I know her boss does not know about us yet, since she only just started working for him today. You have to believe me please!"
One of the nurses caring for Kagome had heard the conversation. Moving to the back of the desk where the receptionist was sitting the nurse spoke to her. "I think he's telling the truth Sango, you should let him see her."
Sango sighed heavily. Fine, but he's your job to watch, Rin. If he tries anything you best call security." Rin nodded she understood.
Looking up at Miroku Rin told him to follow her. Miroku had seceded in one part now he needed to just have a few minutes alone with Kagome. 'I truly hope it's not too late, if Naraku's miasma has reached her heart I fear she will be beyond my help.'
Once the nurse had escorted him into Kagome's, Miroku froze. Of course a normal human would not see the miasma escaping from her body as he did. 'This is worse than I thought, damn!' Miroku knew he had to act fast, if Kagome had this much miasma in her body, there was a very slim chance she could be saved. Miroku gathered himself and asked the nurse. "Would it be okay if I had a few moments alone with her?"
Rin wasn't sure how to answer him, after all Sango had told her to keep an eye on him. And if she left the room she wouldn't be able to. "Well I really shouldn't, but I guess a few minutes wouldn't hurt. I'll be right outside the door though." Miroku thanked her with a kiss to the hand, this of course made Rin blush a light red.
Still very much in dreamland Rin went outside and left Miroku to have some time with Kagome.
Just so no one interfered, Miroku locked the door quietly once Rin left the room. With a deep sigh he turned his attention to Kagome. Once he approached her, Miroku held out his hands over her chest. He closed his eyes and began to concentrate. The darkness from Naraku's miasma was harder for Miroku this time. He remembered purifying this kind of dark miasma once before. However this time he was finding even darker than before. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this, but…"
Outside of the hospital was a different type of darkness forming. InuYasha was pacing in front of the nearby bench that Koga was sitting on. "Must you keep doing that?!" Koga growled out. "You act like she's your damn mate. Which I now know she was lying about you being her boyfriend that day." Koga slightly smiled, as he said those words to InuYasha.
InuYasha stopped pacing, his head lowered with his bangs covering his eyes. His voice was a growl as he spoke, while a hint of pain. "You know nothing, you stinking excuse for a wolf. I am her protector. There is a difference between the two, and as her protector. That means I should've killed you that day."
Koga gave a yawn out of boredom and to annoy InuYasha. Before saying with a slight laugh. "You're her protector? And yet I managed to get to her, and now Naraku has managed to almost kill her. Yeah you really know what it means to protect someone don't you, mutt!"
InuYasha knew Koga's words were true, he hated to admit the wolf was right. From day one he wasn't able to protect her. And now after Naraku was able to get this close to her. InuYasha felt nothing but loss and anger at this moment. He wanted to rip the wolf to pieces and Naraku as well. 'Two for the price of one.' InuYasha thought.
"What's wrong mutt, did I hit a nerve? Don't worry though, I'll make sure to protect her. I won't fail like you, after all I did get her here. If not for me, Naraku would have her and kami only knows what he would be doing to her."
There was silence for a long time, until the sound of InuYasha's clothes ruffling was heard. Looking up Koga watched as the hanyou jumped a few ledges before landing on the hospital roof. 'Damn mangy wolf!" InuYasha cursed. 'So what if he happened to be there to save Kagome at the time. I'm not rich like him, I have to work and keep who I am hidden.' InuYasha's thoughts stopped. He was only making himself angrier, right now he just wanted to at least see her.
InuYasha walked until he reached the edge of the rooftop. There he took a seat and looked out over the city below. He had lived longer than any of the humans that walked the earth now. He has seen things in his life he knew he'd never forget. In the past 500 years he never once loved another woman. However this time the curse has delivered something new to him. A descendent from the one he first loved and also the one who cursed him. 'In a few days the moon will be red and my youkai half will be even more powerful. I have failed you so many times already. Will I be the one who kills you and completely fails to protect you?'
There was another who was now struggling with his thoughts as well. 'Damn I hate this, please forgive me Kagome.' Miroku couldn't fight what needed to be done any longer. The miasma was so strong he needed to make contact with her body. Miroku swallowed hard as he moved the hospital gown just enough to touch her chest. The sight of her round breasts that laid so perfectly on her body had him losing focus. 'What is wrong with you, Miroku. Get a grip she's dying and you're thinking about how hot she looks.' Miroku shook his head and tried once more to concentrate.
His hands were now right on top of her breasts and with his eyes closed, Miroku began to purify the miasma in the lungs. There soon came a knock on the door. It was Rin, Miroku had to work fast now. "Sir you need to open this door right now or I'm calling security!" However it wasn't Rin's voice, it was Sango's. The woman that was the receptionist at the main desk. "I warned you Mr.! SECURITY!"
