Chapter 7:

After moving past the area that held the fog trap, I found that I had entered a darker area of the Underground with blue hues to it as well as glowing rocks all above me that coated the ceiling that looked very pretty.

"Welcome to the Waterfall, a place where more aquatic monsters hang out and live life, and where monsters all over the Underground gather around the wishing stones and make wishes," Chara said, me smiling at that as I moved past what looked like a sentry post while also seeing that Spike was actually ahead of me.

"Hey, Spike? What're you up to?" I asked, him smirking at me.

"They said she's in the area and I really want to get her autograph!" they smirked widely.

"Who again?" I asked.

"Undyne of course! She's, like, so cool! I wanna grow up to be just like her one day!" they said, me smirking at that as we then continued forward... until I saw that there was a patch of very thick grass in front of us. And I had a feeling that Gaster would show up if I went inside of it, but I decided to grin and bear it regardless... surely he wouldn't think of attacking if Spike was with me in the grass patch, right? I then went into the grass patch before I then heard a voice from above me on a cliff.

"H-HI UNDYNE... SORRY I'M LATE... I HAD ERRANDS TO RUN... YES," Papyrus spoke as I looked up at the cliff along with Spike to see that Papyrus was speaking to someone inside of a large and intimidating suit of armor with a large mane of red hair coming out of the back of it. "ANYWAYS... REGARDING THAT HUMAN I CALLED YOU ABOUT EARLIER..." Papyrus said, Undyne then speaking.

"Did you kill them?" Undyne asked as Papyrus then looked like he was stammering.

"W-WELL... IT APPEARS THAT MY INFORMATION WAS... QUITE INVALID... THE HUMAN ISN'T A RUTHLESS KILLING MACHINE... AND SHE'S BEING PURSUED BY SOMEONE THAT I KNOW OF... FROM MY PAST," Papyrus said, the person known as Undyne looking at him shortly after.

"So who is this person that wants to kill the human before I do?" Undyne asked.

"P-Papa Gaster," Papyrus said, Undyne actually stepping back at that.

"WHAT?! H-HOW DO YOU KNOW OF THAT NAME?! NO ONE IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT HIM!" Undyne exclaimed, me being surprised at that.

"W-WAIT... YOU'VE KNOWN ABOUT IT TOO?!" Papyrus asked in shock as Spike and I moved to the edge of the grass and we listened in from afar and out of sight behind a large rock.

"Yeah, I have... Alphys told me just the other day... something about how he was trapped in an alternate plane of existence and he's so desperate to escape that he'd be willing to kill others to do so... if the human's being targeted by Gaster, then our plan will be foiled! From what you've told me, their soul could be strong enough to shatter the barrier on their own!... For now, you should fall back to Snowdin. I'll try to find that human first and get their soul before Gaster can," Undyne said, Spike gulping at that.

"Whoa... this Gaster guy sounds super strong and spooky. And he's related to that funny skeleton? I didn't think I'd ever feel bad for a human, but I feel bad for them. They've gotta handle Undyne and Gaster at the same time now!" Spike said, me smiling at him as I petted his head and he smiled.

"Let's try to move out and see if she can find the human first," I said with a hushed voice, Spike nodding at that as they rushed forward... but then fell face-first on the ground before righting themselves and rushing forward again. It amused me to see that they were very full of energy, but I still had to keep vigilant. I proceeded forward to see Spike had made a small bridge of flowers by picking up seeds and placing them in a straight line, which confused me, but I followed after him to see that we had to do something similar in the next room and that it had a trickier layout this time.

"I think I know how to do this," I said as I picked up the different seeds on our side and I placed them so that it'd form a bridge from north to south, creating a path across the water. Sure, I could've probably swam across, but I didn't want the pizza to get wet at all. And then I got a call from someone, me being confused before I then decided to answer it.

"Hello?" I asked into it.

"Ah, hello, Frisk. This is Toriel... I wanted to ask how things were going for you as of late," said the voice of none other than Tori, me smirking at that.

"I'm doing fine, Tori. In fact, I've actually been given a request to deliver a pizza to someone named Doctor Alphys and I've been making peace with a lot of monsters so far," I smiled, Toriel chuckling at the first part that I said.

"Well, that's good to hear, my child. I also wanted to call you because I wanted to ask you if you've met my friend yet. The one that made the promise to protect humans?" Toriel smiled.

"Yeah, I have. And he's a punster as well as being quite the powerful monster in his own right. He's able to teleport, stop time, and tell jokes all at the same time," I said, Toriel being surprised at that.

"Then I guess I made the right decision to ask him specifically, then. Be careful on your way through the Underground, Frisk. I'd hate for anything bad to happen to you," Toriel said, me nodding at that as I smiled happily as I felt Chara's soul beating in my chest.

"I'll be careful, I promise," I said with a smile as I then hung up and then asked Chara a question. Why didn't she want to talk to Toriel at all?

"The short answer is because she probably wouldn't believe me, but the long answer is that I feel that she... I feel she would hate my guts... it was all my fault that all of this shit happened, after all. If I hadn't committed suicide and had Asriel take my soul and body to the surface, then Asriel would still be alive, mom and dad would still be together, and everyone Underground would still be happy," Chara said, me sighing at that and touching my chest with a smile as I then caught up to Spike as we entered a room that had pretty glowing rocks and a telescope. I then thought to her that she had no idea that any of this would happen, so she shouldn't blame herself... and she simply stayed silent at that.

I looked to see that Spike looked a bit confused on how to proceed, so I looked through the telescope and was surprised to see that there was a hidden message you could only see if you looked at the wall directly in front of the telescope. "Hidden door here, huh? Well, time to open it," I smiled as I then went ahead and opened the door, Spike smirking at that widely.

"Wow! You're so smart, buddy! Let's go try to find Undyne!" Spike smirked, me nodding at that as both of us went ahead and saw we were now in a dense marsh with reeds growing out of the water and a duo of wood planks being by the river. I then got onto one as did Spike... but upon reaching the other side, Spike went ahead because I could feel something ominous... some kind of strange foreboding tension in the air.

"Have you ever imagine a world... where everyone exists... but you yourself, do not? I couldn't wish that on anyone..." said a voice that sounded... almost like a depressed Spike. I looked all around me after I got off the wooden plank and was shocked to see something was floating over the water and proceeding towards me... it looked a lot like Spike did, only much creepier. It had a checkered shirt pattern, they had two spikes on either side of their head as well as some on the back of it, they were completely gray in color... and they had eyes that were pure white and blank, almost like what you'd see in a horror movie. And it really creeped me out.

"S-Stay away from me... I-I'm getting really creeped out, guy," I said with worry as the monster then sighed.

"I can't hurt you... not so long as I'm trapped in the Void... as for my name, I am Goner Kid... one who was lost to the void when my brother was born... we were going to be twins, but fate can be cruel..." this strange, creepy monster said, me looking at him with surprise.

"Why are you appearing to me, then?" I asked.

"Because this run... is different. You have a soul strong enough to be considered the soul of a god... a soul worth a billion in one... using that soul, you could very easily free everyone that is trapped behind the veils of the Void... and that is my request..." Goner Kid said, me gulping at that.

"B-But what about Gaster?" I asked, Goner Kid chuckling at that.

"He's more desperate to leave than anyone in the Void. He really misses his sons... I'm sure he'll try to attack you with everything he has when you go to the Void to free us... and before you ask, no, you wouldn't be trapped in the Void. A soul of your strength will allow you to leave at any point with ease... I'll be awaiting your final decision in the Void... be careful not to get killed, okay?" Goner Kid asked, him then vanishing into a bunch of air, me being creeped out as I moved forward along the wooden bridge in front of me... before I then gasped as a large blue spear slammed into the wood in front of me!

"DAMMIT! I MISSED!" exclaimed the voice of Undyne as I saw her armor-clad body appear from what looked like a ruined temple! I immediately booked it as fast as I could down the path in front of me as I could literally feel the spears whooshing past my head and my body the whole time! I did this for roughly a minute striaght until I rushed into a large patch of thick and tall grass, me being scared that I may have to deal with both Undyne and Gaster... but lucky me, I found Spike in the brush and they looked at me with a smile... or, he rather.

"Hey, dude. What's up?" he asked, me gulping as I could hear Undyne coming for me and I stayed completely still, me then seeing Undyne appear a few feet in front of me.. she then reached down and grabbed Spike by the cheek and picked him off the ground and then sounding annoyed.

"Ugh, they got away," Undyne growled as she then went back the way we came from and I then rushed out of the grass the moment she was out of earshot, same with Spike.

"Yo, did you see that? Undyne TOUCHED ME! I'm never washing my face again! C'mon, let's go on ahead and explore some more!" Spike smiled, him then doing the same as before and tripping on the ground before then getting up and running off again. I continued forward a bit and immediately wished I hadn't. The room I was currently in held a large white door that looked very out-of-place and I could hear a very creepy tune from behind it. It sounded a lot like it was some kind of creepy tune that Chara recognized immediately.

"Dark, Darker, Yet Darker... the hidden music correlating to Doctor Gaster... are you ready, Frisk? Because Sans did ask you to give everyone a happy ending, keep in mind," Chara said, me frowning at that. She was right and I hated it. I simply turned the handle to the door and went on the other side to see that I was now in a very blank room and that in front of me, right in the center of the room, was Gaster... and he looked to be joined by three creepy-looking monsters as well as Goner Kid.

"So... you finally decide to join us, fallen child," Gaster said, me shivering at him as he then had his multiple hands appear and I could feel it... some kind of power growing in my soul.

"I'm here to help, not to die," I said, being truthful, Gaster chuckling at that and the others remaining silent.

"I apologize, young Frisk, but you know not the situation that awaits you. That soul within you... it alone could be enough to free all of us from our eternal suffering... so I feel I must ask..." Gaster said as he then flicked all of his fingers and I saw... Chara... right there next to him. And this Chara visage had giant black eyes on them with he words DIE in both of them in big red text. "How many attacks can your soul withstand before death?" Gaster smiled wickedly as the visage of Chara then did something that shocked me. It started to charge at me with the bleeding eyes and mouth, her cackling like a demon and me bracing for impact... this was it. Dead in a world where I'd be forgotten forever... but no. That wasn't what happened.

The exact moment that this Chara attacked me with their bloody knife, something completely different happened. My soul not only absorbed the blow, but rebounded it with a spectacle of colored light that lit up the entire room and turned it into a disco room of sorts, shocking all of the monsters in front of me as I heard Thorn speak from my mouth.

"We have made a promise to a monster down here that you know very well, Professor Gaster. To give all of the residents of this world a happy ending, whether they be good or evil. And we refuse to let you kill us! So if you want to fight, just know that it will not hurt us at all and we won't be fighting with the intent to kill," Thorn said with what sounded like anger, but I could sense it was more along the lines of... courage? Maybe willpower?... No, I knew the word. Determined.

"Now you're getting it, Frisk," Chara said to me in thought as I saw that Gaster and the other monsters looked behind me and I did the same. The door was actually being affected by the colors that were being sent all throughout that were coursing through my soul. And it looked like it was gaining color.

"Very well then, human. If that's what you want, then keep on fighting with your full potential! It seems your soul is brimming with energy!" Gaster said with enthusiasm as he and the other monsters proceeded to attack me with more of their attacks, me seeing that Gaster used some odd gun that actually attacked my soul directly and caused lasers of light to emerge from it that I aimed all around the place! The followers attacked with their own unique patterns, including throwing head bombs, tricky patterns of candy canes to dodge, and getting getting tackled by the bird thing. Goner Kid didn't attack once, however, and simply watched on. We continued to do this for three more attacks until Gaster gasped as we then saw something happen from behind us.

"FINALLY! The door has been opened! Let us rush out posthaste!" Gaster exclaimed as we all did just that and all of us got out of the door all at the same time. And the moment we were on the other side of it, we looked behind us and were surprised to see that... the door was gone and all of us seemed to be emerging from thin-air. And when everyone was on this side of the door, they then looked around and then at each other as I saw something else surprising. Their bodies regained some color to them... the gingerbread guy was white with blue candy stripes, the guy holding a head in his hand had a blank face, but his head was green with his attire being dark red and green. And the slime guy was actually yellow with lime green attire on him. Goner Kid looked almost exactly like Spike, only they were pink in color and their eyes got pupils in them that were colored brown. And Gaster remained mostly the same, only his underside no longer consisted of a second face... rather, it looked like it was his shadow now. And he gained his physicality back and was no longer a steaming puddle.

"Is... Is it finally over?" asked a voice that I didn't hear prior... and when I looked to the right, I was surprised to see that it was some kind of female monster who had a clam-shaped head with her face being on the pearl inside of it.

"Yes... it finally is... I... I never thought this would happen in a trillion lifetimes... I thank you, Frisk... and the Fallen Child..." Gaster said as I looked at Goner Kid and they looked at me with a smile as I helped them off the ground and I then hugged them gently, me smirking as I could hear them sniffling.

"Really... this really is happening, isn't it?... I can finally see my brother after all this time... I finally exist again..." Goner Kid smirked widely.

"So... what should I call you from here on out? Because I've been calling your brother Spike as a nickname," I said, the little girl smirking at that. I could tell it was a female due to the pink as well as me having a funny feeling with her more feminine traits such as her longer eyelashes and her having a skirt on.

"You can call me anything you want, but I'd prefer friend," she said with a smirk.

"How about I call you... Magenta?" I asked, her smirking at that.

"I like that... so are we friends now?" she smiled.

"Only if the others agree," I said, them all looking at me with a smile.

"Of course, Frisk. You've freed us from our eternal damnation and we all are forever grateful..." the one follower said, him being one that was a bird creature.

"And I would like to formerly apologize for my mistreatment of you when we first met, Frisk... do you forgive me?" Gaster asked, me smirking at that.

"Of course I do. I made a pledge to help everyone and I refuse to try to hurt anyone with the intent to kill. I was simply keeping my promises," I said, Gaster smiling at that.

"Very well, then... I'd say it's high time that I go to visit my children... I want to see how they've been faring since my disappearance," Gaster said as we then got an unexpected person greet us from the east.

"then come over here so i can see ya for myself, pops," said the punster himself, Gaster darting his gaze over and seeing his son behind us, me seeing that his eye was colored blue... and then I remembered that he was keeping my pizza frozen in time.

"S-Sans... you... you remember me?" Gaster asked.

"i could never forget someone like you, dad... even after you vanished, i kept remembering you for a long amount of time, which includes all of those constant RESETs we hated so much," Sans said, me smirking at him as he and Gaster then had a hug and I smiled at him.

"Hey, Magenta?" I said, getting my friend's attention. "How about you travel with me for a bit? I have a feeling that we might be able to reunite you with your bro if we continue going through Waterfall," I said, her smiling and collapsing into my hug happily.

"I'd love nothing more than to be taken up on that offer... let's go find my bro," she said, me smiling as we then proceeded to go to the east through the area known as Waterfall.
