It was a new school year for the Cullen's after an eventful school year. It was Bella's birthday and didn't want anybody to know but Alice wanted to celebrate her birthday. When Bella had come into school Alice cornered her to give her present and had Jasper alter her mood to make her accept it.
Evelyn was unfortunate as she was in Bella's and Edward's English class. The teacher was mouthing along with it and the class was either bored or crying. Edward was going to explain the Volturi but was stopped when the teacher asked him a question.
Edward was continuing his explanation of the Volturi in Carlisle study where there was a painting of them. When Bella looked at it closely she saw Carlisle and Evelyn were in it.
"Is that Carlisle and Evelyn?" asked Bella when Edward had stopped talking.
"Evelyn was with them for around 800 years but left them when Carlisle wanted to go into the 'new world'" Edward looked at Bella for a reaction, Bella had a look of shock when she realised how old Evelyn is. Edward then went on to tell her about the rules. Alice broke the moment about how they were ready for Bella.
Bella was given a present by Rosalie which was given with the least emotion. Emmett had gotten Bella a new sound system in Bella's truck. Everything was going great until she was given Carlisle and Esme's present.
When Bella opened the present she got a paper cut, which wouldn't have been a problem if Jasper had gone hunting but the urge for blood had made him go to Bella. Edward had pushed Bella into vase's which cut her even more and spilled more blood. Evelyn went straight to Bella to slow the bleeding while the others try to control Jasper.
Jasper and everyone else was sent out of the house until the blood was gone. Bella, Evelyn and Carlisle went to his study to sort out her cuts. Bella was asking about how they had such good control, in which Carlisle had answered. Evelyn was burning everything that had blood on it so it was safe for them to come back to the house.
Edward was taking Bella home in what might be the last time.
