CHAPTER 4
"I-I give up Wissssssssp-ah!" Mistpaw mewed, flipping onto the ground with exhaustion. "Already? But we just started!" Wisp meowed in surprise.
"Beatin' up te' apprentices again, Wisp?" came an old, accented voice.
"Oh, Myrtle!" returned Wisp's cheerful reply, as she walked over to greet her. Fangpaw, who was with her, came over to stare sadly at Mistpaw.
"You've gone and done it again, Mistpaw. Why did you think it was a good idea to challenge Wisp?"
"Shut up, Fangpaw. I would've had her if I had just been a bit more fast on my initial strike" she growled at his sighs. She sat up, then flopped onto her belly. "Hey, hey, guess what happened! We may have another apprentice to train with soon!" She told him excitedly.
"Hmmm, is it that ginger tom that's about 8 moons old? I remember him, I was just leaving the nursery den when he was born, but I watched the kitting because I was interested in it. Guess that's why I'm a healer now" he told her nonchalantly.
She quickly replied,
"Yeah, his name's Salmon Fur. I wonder if…"
"Oh! Steameye! Glowfur! You're finally here!" cried Wisp. The white tom with silver patches nodded slowly, whereas the she-cat, who was a tortoiseshell, ran over, thrilled to be here as always. As they began to chatter, the hallow was filled with the mews and meows of conversation.
"Now we're only waiting for Lighting Ear, Poppies, and Shining Heart. Then we'll all be here" Valiance said over the din. "All senior medicine cats and healers, please come over here. We have something to discuss, specifically, this apprentice here, Salmon Fur."
