Hello, guy! I honestly wish I could write faster. It takes me a few days just to write one chapter, and a few more to upload it. I'll try to make this chapter and each chapter after around 4k. It might lower the rate of being put out, but who knows. Also, how do you guys imagine the characters voices? I imagine Azura's as an American teenagers voice, even though she's 24. The reason I asked, is cause I imagine Kimara to have a Jamaican accent. It would be strange to write, so I just decided not to. Mismagius gives me witch doctor vibes, and most I've seen in movies have Jamaican accents.
Anyway, let's begin!
The Furfrou stepped closer. His steps were shaky, as if it was the first time he'd walked in months. There was a small, red heart dyed into his fur, right where his actual heart was. He stepped closer, his breath shaky as he was near inches from Azura.
"A-azura?" He asked. His voice was hoarse, and worn.
Azura nodded. "Yes, Dad. It's me."
He smiled. It looked physically hard for him to do so, but he did it. And he leaned forward, wrapping his forelegs around her.
"I missed you, Azura. So, so much. We all did." He whispered to her, tightening the hug.
Tears streamed down his face, falling onto her back and rolling down it, staining the carpet. He began to sob, tightening his grip on her even more. She felt his fur against her, and it was course and tough, from years of apparent neglect. Azura looked over his back, seeing the Flareon approaching. She was large for their species, physically strong. Her mane was a dim yellow, but appeared to slowly be warming up to a Flareon's normal color. As she approached, she joined the hug.
"Azura… my darling, what happened? What did those awful gang members do to you? What happened to your gem?" Her own tears mingled with the Furfrou's.
Azura pulled away from the hug reluctantly, taking a deep breath. "I ran away. I fell in love with someone, and I ran away."
Her mother looked hurt. "But… why would you run away? If you loved someone, you should have told us. I bet he broke your heart and kept you with him through manipulation, didn't he?"
Azura shook her head. A pulse of rage coursed through her, but she pushed it down. "He was poor. Dirt poor. You wouldn't have said yes. And no, he didn't break my heart."
Her father looked at her, nodding. "Yes… we wouldn't have allowed it back then. Our prejudice blinded us to a great many things, but that's changed now. You can come back and bring him with you. We'll treat him like a son."
Azura looked to the ground, resisting tears. "He's dead. He died yesterday. We were attacked on our way to move here, and something important was stolen from us."
Her parents looked at eachother, shocked. They both leaned forward and embraced her again, before pulling back. Her father nodded for her to continue.
"We were moving to this city, from his home town, after we had collected enough money. Then… we were ambushed on the trail. Our escort was killed in one hit, and we fought the ambushers. I'll skip all the small details. I was nearly burnt to a crisp, and he was bludgeoned over the head. We were saved and brought to the hospital, but yesterday his life support was overloaded with electricity. I was…" She took a deep breath.
"I was in jail for attempted kidnapping and other things I didn't do. I won't say how I escaped, but I will tell you what was stolen from me." She looked at her parents, who were looking at her worriedly.
"Your grandson was kidnapped. My son, Jacky, was kidnapped by an Umbreon named Andre, and an Arcanine named Kelvin. They forged adoption papers. Andre, as in Andre the Councilmon. My husband, Aloe the Leafeon, basically gave his life defending our child. I escaped the prison, through means I won't say, and ran all the way here, hoping you could help me somehow, or someway." She looked at them hopefully.
They looked at eachother, then back at her, before nodding. "We'll do everything in our power to help you. Azura, you mean the world to us, and now that you're back, we can be a family again." Her father smiled at her.
Her mother nodded. "We've met Andre once before. Around 12 years ago, he came here. He asked us about our lineage, and tested us in battle. I defeated him easily. Your father just barely did so, but him not being a battler, he didn't know Andre was pulling his punches. I could tell. I've always suspected something a bit strange with Andre, especially after what happened after the test. A few days later, I was walking around town, and happened to hear someone following me. To make it short, I gave Andre a nasty scar. I have no idea why he tried to do what he did, but thankfully he failed."
Azura looked at her mother. "He kidnapped my Jacky because he wanted a child with a strong lineage. I've heard he usually has others killed if things go bad for him."
Her mother closed her eyes and nodded. She opened them, then smiled at Azura. "Alright, let's get you cleaned up before anything else. Your room is currently occupied, so we will use your brothers room."
Azura tilted her head slightly. "Who's using my room? Why is Alex's room not being used? Did you give him mine?"
Her mother's smile faultered for a bit, but she shrugged. "We'll explain later. Fenris, help Axel prepare the dining hall. We haven't used that place in forever."
The two Eeveelutions began walking out of the room, as Azura's father walked out in a different direction. Azura began to ponder on how she had hurt her family. Her little brother, Alex, was 10 when she had left. He looked up to her, and wanted to be an Espeon just like her. She smiled a bit, remembering how she taught her brother Shadow Ball. The first few times, the ball of ghastly energy had exploded in his mouth, but after the first few days, he had learned it. He would joke that he learned it in case Azura ever went crazy, and remembering this made Azura smile. She adored her brother. In fact, he was the Pokemon she cared for third most, only after Aloe and Jacky. She had never mentioned her previous life to Jacky, nor elaborated much to Aloe. He knew she had a sibling, mother, and father, but that was it. Her smile fell at the thought of her husband and her son, as they entered a plain room. It was a white bedroom, with the bed white, and everything else white. The only thing inside was the bed, though. It was far different from what it used to be, but she didn't comment on it, only following her mother. They entered the bathroom, and somehow, the bath water was already running in a large, white, circular bathtub.
"Axel already started it. Good job." Her mother said aloud.
The large bathroom echoed, the tile floors boosting the volume. Azura stepped forward, examining the water.
"I haven't had a proper bath like this in nearly 7 years…" She muttered to herself, climbing onto the edge.
She tested the water, and a warm pulse shot through her body. Warmth filled her as she slowly slipped into the water, her body immediately relaxing. She smiled a bit, as her mother walked over with an open bottle. She tilted her head, and poured the contents into the bath. She put the bottle down, before sitting down. Bubbles formed quickly, encapsulating Azura's dirty fur. Seconds passed, as they shrunk to a thin layer above the water. Azura sighed, relaxing back. She noticed her mother still in the bathroom, eyes glued to Azura.
"Uh… Mom? Could you let me bathe by myself?"
Her mom seemed to snap out of a trance, and nodded without a word. She walked out of the bathroom quickly, as Azura relaxed once more, embracing the warmth of the water.
A smile crept over Lacie's face as she crouched in the shadows, watching the Pokemon hunting for her pass mere inches from her. The Officers were hunting vigorously for her, but weren't looking in the right place. The reality of the situation was, she was in the vents of the prison. They all thought she had escaped, which she technically did, but she came back, just to hide in the vents. They would never expect that. She had used one Dark Gem already, but her stash hadn't been found. For years since she arrived, she'd been hiding them in the vent above her cell. She would either beg the Psyche's to give her one, or pick at one for hours until it disloged. Thanks to this, she had accumulated enough for what she had planned. It wasn't a second escape, but it was still something incredibly dangerous. Forging a functioning Dread Plate. A plate thought for hundreds of years to be only a myth, but was recently rediscovered to be a truth. All it took to make one was a bunch of Dark Gems, a Dark type, and someone who knew how to make one. She crawled forward, through the vents as she neared an exit. She would sit here and sleep for an entire day, hoping they would give up by the time she awoke. She neared the vent grill, and released the cloth in her mouth. It fell to the vent floor with a soft thud, and unraveled. It revealed a total of 34 Dark gems, enough to make a Plate, and to use for emergencies. She layed down, listening to the Pokemon around the prison. The vents were a good place to eavesdrop, and the sound comforted her to sleep soon after laying down.
Hey. A voice said into Azura's head. It mirrored her own, nearly identically.
Azura sat up in the tub, looking around. "Hello?"
You can't see me. I'm in your room.
Azura looked around again, before thinking in her head to the voice.
Who are you?
I'm supposed to be you. But I'm not. It's me, Alex.
"I'm supposed to be you." She muttered. What could it mean?
Alex! How have you been? I see you've evolved into an Espeon, or an Umbreon.
Alex paused for a second. Suddenly, an image flashed into Azura's mind. It looked as if she was staring in a mirror, and she quickly realized what it was. It was Alex, in fact, standing in front of a mirror.
Wow! Alex, you look like me!
The voice didn't respond this time, as she felt the presence leave her mind. Azura sighed once the link vanished. Her brother had to be talented to use Psychic on something not in his vision. Just as talented as she used to be, probably. Except it's likely he kept on training, whereas she had stopped. She sunk further into the bath, letting the warm water relax her body. For about an hour, she simply lay there, enjoying the waters warm embrace. But sadly, all things good come to an end. Her stomach growled loudly, as she sighed. With a groan, she stood up and stepped out of the water filled bathtub. Water fell from her fur in drops, as she made her way towards a towel, which hung on a rack. She rubbed her side against it, and then the other side, and tried to dry herself to her best capability. When she was mostly dry, she stepped out of the bathroom. To her surprise, her mother was sitting on the bed, staring at the door, and then at her.
"Azura! Come now, we must eat." She said, hopping down and heading out the door.
Azura followed after the Flareon, who ran through the halls quickly. They headed down some stairs they had walked up to get to the bathroom, and headed through the living room. Soon, they came to the dining hall. Five plates were set out, each with a large Magikarp fillet. The table was long, but only the five seats at the front had plates, while the rest was devoid of any decor. The seat at the end of the side with plates was empty, and the one to the right of it was as well. Sitting in the seat to its left, was Fenris, her father. Beside him sat Axel, the Dragapult Butler. The seat parallel to the Dragapult's seat was filled by a familiar Pokemon. It was an Espeon, it's fur smooth and groomed, it's gem glimmering in the light. Hung around it's neck was a silver necklace, with half of a heart pendant on it. It's eyes looked drained of energy, but a spark of emotion shot through when Azura met it's eyes.
Hello, Azura.
"Alex! It's been so long!" Azura shouted, before leaping on the table and running towards him.
She tackled the other Espeon, rolling to the floor. She hugged him tightly, but he merely lay limp in her hold.
Please get off of me.
Azura looked at her brother, and slowly nodded. She stepped away from him, as he sat up.
"Alex, you can talk, you know." Their father said, grinning a bit.
He glared at the Furfrou. Azura couldn't hear what he said to their father, but from the whimper he let out, it was probably a threat of some sort.
"What's wrong, Alex? You're acting so much different than you used to." Azura asked him, walking to the free seat, between their father and the other free seat.
It's been ten years. Things change, Azura. How I wish they hadn't.
Azura sighed, sitting down. Their mother sat on the seat free to her left, beside Alex who had also sat back down.
Why didn't you come back?
Azura looked down at her plate. "Because I couldn't, Alex. Mom and Dad wouldn't let me stay with him If I did."
He looked at her for a few seconds, a small grin forming on his mouth. "You're the only Pokemon to have addressed me by my name ever since I evolved."
His voice was deep and gravely, but also weak, as if he hadn't physically talked in years. As if to confirm this, their parents stared at him for a few seconds, before looking back at their plates.
"Well, I think it's time to eat." Their butler said.
The others nodded, and began to eat. Azura ate quickly, scarfing down the food in a single minute. Her father seemed to do the same, but slightly slower. Alex and the Flareon were the only ones who seemed to eat at a normal pace, while Axel ate painstakingly slow. Soon after they all finished, Azura sighed.
"That's the best food I've had in forever." She smiled to herself.
Fenris nodded, before drinking his Berry Juice. Azura copied him, quickly drinking it all down.
"So… Azura, what can we exactly do to help you?" Her mother asked.
Azura looked at her. "I need to kill Andre. Or at the very least get my son back."
Alex bolted up straight, nearly choking on his Berry Juice. "Son!? Azura, I have a nephew!?"
Azura nodded solemnly. Alex looked at her closer. "Is he the father? Did they take your son from you and let him have him?"
Azura shook her head. "He kidnapped my son, and basically killed my husband. I hate him with all my heart, and if I died right now, I'd beg Xerneas and Yveltal to let me come back as a Ghost, who's only desire is to kill him."
Alex looked at her closely, a small smile creeping onto his face. "Azura. You remember how you taught me to use my moves for battle?"
Azura nodded at him, raising an eyebrow. He smiled widened. "I've learned a style of battling Psychic types can use. We can hit anything using it."
Before Azura could respond, their mother turned to him. "Az- I mean Alex, we forbid you to practice battling. And you just openly admitted to going against our words. Go to your room, now. Not Azura's room, your room."
Alex glared at her for a few seconds. He looked at Azura.
I'm sorry for being an ass to you a few minutes ago. I just held a bit of resentment. I'll explain everything that's happened since you've left later.
The male Espeon stood and walked off without another word. Fenris then looked at his wife, a slightly sad expression on his face. She shook her head ever so slightly, and he sighed.
"What's wrong with him?" Azura suddenly asked.
Her mother looked at her, reluctance in her eyes. "Nothing… just hormones, you know."
Azura eyed her questioningly. "But he's an adult now."
The Flareon didn't look at her anymore, choosing to look at her empty plate. As Axel finished his food finally, the plates began to float into the air, and flew off into another room, following the Dragapult.
"Wellp, it's past time for bed. Azura, you can go up to your room and sleep. We can talk more in the morning." Her mother said, standing and walking away speedily.
Her father nodded, following after the Flareon. Azura was slightly confused, noticing how quick they walked off, but she chose to ignore it, standing and walking back to the upper floor. As she neared her room, memories flooded back as she looked at the vases and desks lining the hall. She smiled as she remembered the first time she tried to teach Alex a move. It had failed, and exploded in this very hallway. They destroyed a few priceless vases, but nothing their parents couldn't replace. She sighed a bit from the wave of nostalgia, as her door came into sight. The brown wood looked old and worn, compared to the other doors. The red of the walls and carpet seemed to fade as it got closer to her door. It was slightly strange to her, the red fading to pink, but she ignored it. She nudged the door open and entered her old room. Her eyes widened in shock at the sight of her pinkish purple room. It was the exact same as it used to be. The same pink wallpaper, the same mirror mounted on the wall near the floor, with Pokemon engraved on the wooden frame. The plush carpet felt good on her paws, but she payed it no heed. Why was it the same, if Alex had lives in it for the past few years? She looked around, making sure everything was indeed the same. But she was wrong in her first assumption. On the wall, beside the door, was small holes in the wall. They were almost unseeable, but she could see them if she focused. Azura looked away from them, towards the closet doors. She walked over to them, and opened them. An old, musty scent flooded her nose as she coughed slightly. It was as if the doors hadn't been opened in forever.
She looked around at the plain, brown walls of the closet. She saw a few chests and boxes inside, with dust settled on them. She opened one of the chests after unlatching it, and smiled. Books sat piled nearly in the pinewood chest, as the scent of paper and pine filled her nostrils. She leaned forward, taking one of the larger books in her jaws and turning, bringing it to the bed. She dropped it down onto the pristine pink covers and hopped up, smiling at the book. The cover was hard, with an image of a Luxray, a shocked expression on it's face as it stared forward. Floating behind it in a moonlit windowsill was a strange stone, with what appeared to be a face on it. A purple mist was flowing from the face, forming letters that made up the title.
"The Blackwood Manor Haunting." She read aloud, grinning a bit.
The story had given her nightmares when she first read it, years ago. But she never could go a month without reading it again, the temptation to feel fear pulled at her, but it never had the same effect as the first time. When she was younger, Azura held fiction stories in high regard, but this story was special. It was true, one hundred percent. The very same manor was torn down only 4 years before she was born, and the odd stone one of the workers found was shown to the author. The author was said to have bought the stone, and mysteriously vanished one day. Of course, that part was untrue. He simply died of a heart attack, after the stone had awoken, and frightened him. The Spiritomb housed within the stone was sad, and more of the stronger spirits inside it forced it to go back to sleep, and now the keystone was on display in a museum. As she gazed at the book, her mind wandered back to her other stories. She hopped down from the bed, going back to the closet. Carefully, she pushed the chest out of the dark space, all the way to her bed. She grabbed a few books, one by one, and placed them in her bed. All of them were some of her favorites. One had a Glaceon and Umbreon leaning against eachother around a campfire, while on the other side of the campfire a Blaziken and Lucario were doing the same. Azura grinned a bit, remembering how she had obsessed over the romance genre after reading that story. Another book had an image of a well-known being. It was a white, quadraped Pokemon, with a slightly long neck, and a body structure similar to a Mudsdale, or Ponyta. A four pronged golden wheel decorated it's torso, as the piercing green eyes of the Alpha Pokemon stared deeply into the viewer's soul. The book was thick, and filled with old myths and legends of how everything came into existence. It had a detailed page for each god, no matter how major or minor.
Her favorite was Suicune. The book detailed how Suicune had saved hundreds of lives, cleaning rivers and lakes from poisonous liquid left behind by bad Pokemon. She admired the Aurora Pokemon. He was one of the few gods who actually interacted with normal Pokemon on an average basis, being well-known for his acting career. Azura grinned a bit. A Pokemon, with strength rivaled only by the greatest of mortal Pokemon, being an actor. She shook her head a bit, freeing the image of the mighty Suicune prancing about a stage, as she looked at the other book. It was red, with an Eevee on it, smiling. On it's right was an Ice Vulpix, and to the left was another Eevee. Above the trio was a strange, curly font. It read "The Pokemon of Feldon." In reality, it held information about every Pokemon species in existence, besides some of the more elusive gods. It had been the book that had solidified her choice in becoming an Espeon. Not only was Espeon generally beautiful, but becoming a Psychic type meant a boost in intelligence. She did indeed feel it when she evolved, but it wasn't as significant as she had hoped. She chuckled a bit, remembering the first time she had used her psychic powers, all the way back when she first evolved.
A smaller, well groomed Azura furrowed her brow in concentration at the small, bumpy rock that lay before her. She and her brother, Alex the Eevee, were in their front yard, practicing her new abilities. She had evolved a little over a day ago, and had immediately began to train. But alas, all she could do was create a weak, flashing blue aura encompassing the rock before her. With an angry groan from the adolescent Espeon, the rock stopped glowing as she stomped a forepaw down.
"Why is it so hard!!? Terakinesis is the easiest thing a psychic can do!" She shouted, grinding her teeth.
From the yard, Alex spoke up. "Telekinesis, Big Sis."
Azura's eyes widened a bit. She was corrected by another kid. A little kid.
"I know what I said, Alex!" She nearly shouted back at him.
Alex grinned, flashing his dull teeth. "Nuh-uh. I'm more smarterer than you!"
He began laughing, as Azura scowled at the Eevee. "Smarterer isn't a word, dumby!"
The Eevee stood from his sitting position, his tail beginning to wag rapidly, from side to side. "Neither is terakinesis!"
Azura let out an annoyed sigh, gritting her teeth. He wanted her to chase him, and it was obvious. "Alex, I'm gonna tell Mom you were eating grass again."
Alex's tail slowly stopped wagging, as his ears began slightly quivering. "Th-thats a lie! Lies are bad! You're a bad Pokemon! I'm gonna go tell Mom that you're bullying me!"
He bolted away from her, running towards the house. Before Azura could even think, she bolted after him. Despite being older, and evolved, she was somehow slower than the Eevee. As they neared the doors to their home, they flew open before either had connected with the hardwood doors. Before them floated a familiar, ghostly Dragon type. The Caretaker Pokemon frowned at the two, shaking his head slowly.
"You two. Stop arguing. If I have to come out here and stop you, I swear I'll use my super-duper secret attack on you. It's so scary, you'll probably die from fright." The Drakloak grinned.
Before either sibling could argue, they began to float. As Axel floated them back to where they were originally, Azura stared in awe. It was so simple, she had no idea why she hadn't asked. As the two siblings were plopped back down to the ground, Azura landing on the concrete path she had been practicing on, she stared at him.
"Wait, Axel! How do you use your psychic powers?"
As Axel turned back to the house, he turned his head to Azura. "Eh? I don't have any psychic powers."
Azura stared in confusion. He had clearly levitated the two, and it had to be with psychic powers! She shook her in disbelief. "But you just floated us!"
The Drakloak thought for a second, before chuckling. He turned back to Azura, who one more floated into the air. He swirled her around a bit, as Alex began snickering quietly. Axel grinned slightly, as he lowered the dazed Espeon to the ground.
"That's not psychic powers. That's ghost powers. Strong Ghost types can levitate stuff, but not to the degree of telekinesis." The Ghost type explained.
Azura sighed, shaking her head a bit. "I'm never gonna learn how to use my powers!" She whined.
Azura fell to the concrete path, laying on her stomach. She began to tear up slightly, her despair at not being able to use her powers overwhelming her. She began to lightly sob, as the concrete began to grow wet from her tears. Axel sighed, as Alex padded closer to the Espeon. He sat down right in front of her closed eyes, and leaned forward. With a silly grin, he licked her gem. A shiver shot through Azura's spine as she shot up. She glared at the Eevee, who still held his tongue out of his maw, smiling all the while.
"Alex, that's gross! Don't do that again!" She scolded him.
But the command fell on deaf ears, as the Eevee leaped up and licked the ruby-like bodypart again. The same cold chill shot down her spine, as her eyes stopped watering. She demanded he stop once again, but to her disgust, he did it again. And again. And again. He repeated the action each time, as her anger began to boil up. She could have moved or ran away from the Eevee, but for some reason she didn't. Right as her anger reached just below the point of violence, she took a deep breath.
"Stop it, you annoying little brat!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.
Her brother was unfazed, as his grin widened. Without any thought of consequences, she focused on him intently. At that moment, she didn't care what she did to him, as long as he stopped licking her. As a blue aura encased him, Alex began slowly lifting off of the ground. Azura's vision swam with the same, sky blue aura enveloping her brother, and as she realized what she was doing, her focus wavered and the small Eevee dropped to the grass with a soft thud, a few feet away from her. She stared at him, as the young child smiled proudly to his sister.
"You did it, Azura! I knew you could do it!" The Normal type shouted happily, running forward and nuzzling his sister.
Azura couldn't help but smile, proud at herself, and proud of her brother for helping her greatly. She rubbed her head affectionately against his, smiling.
"Next time you do something weird like that, I'm going to make you fly higher than Rayquaza." She threatened half-jokingly to her brother.
Alex pulled his head back, grinning wildly. Axel had apparently left the two by now, because he didn't prevent what happened next. Anyone who remotely knew the small Pokemon could see it coming. Alex leaned forward, and once more moved his tongue over her gem. Azura let out a frustrated screech, before flinging the Eevee off of her using her forelegs.
"I'm going to hurt you badly!" Azura shouted, dashing towards the laughing Eevee, who in turn dashed away from the fuming Espeon.
I acknowledge that a ton of my story is dialogue. I'm trying my best to prevent this, but I'm not very versed in describing a Pokemon walking towards another Pokemon. This chapter took me way too long to make, because I'm lazy as heck. Procrastinating sucks, I wish i could delete it from my mind.
