Hi guys. I know it has been a while but a lot has happened. I got my budgie but he is called joey and then school has just been hectic (they weren't lying when they said year 11 is tough). I also had writers block but I have rediscovered an inspiration. Also sorry if my spellings and grammars off, I have to write this on my phone because my laptop is basically dead ahaha. Anyway hope you enjoy this new chapter.

He was swimming. Swimming in a deep pool of nothingness. Everytime he tried to break through to the surface, darkness would drag him back down again.

Maddie hadn't moved from her position next to Buck's bed, his hand gently clasped in her own. The room was filled with the steady beep of the heart rate monitor and a constant hum of electricity that came from various wires that snaked under his covers. To her he looked tiny in that bed.

A soft nock at the door took her attention away from Buck's slumbering form.

" Come on Mads. Let's get you home and into a proper bed, instead of that plastic thing." Chimney spoke softly.

"I can't!" She replied "What if he wakes up?"

She looked at her boyfriend with desperate eyes, as if pleading not to make her leave. If she left Buck would be alone.

Chimney could see the pain and worry in her eyes and quickly rushed to pull her into a tight hug.

"It's OK," he whispered into her ear, " He is going to be all right."

"But how do you know that? The doctor said once the sedative worked it way out of his system he should wake up but he hasn't even moved yet. He needs me. If I leave who will keep an eye on him?" Fresh tears ran down Maddie's face and all Chimney could do was hold her tighter.

Bobby watched as the oldest Buckley broke down into tears. It was breaking his heart seeing the pain this caused and all because he was to oblivious to what was going on around him. Without even thinking about it, words spilled from his mouth.

"I'm still here," he said "I can keep an eye on Buck."

Maddie turned to look at Bobby, a protest already beginning to form on her lips but he continued to before she had a chance to express it.

"You said yourself, Buck needs you but he needs a well rested you. He wouldn't want you to be loosing sleep over him. He would would want you to go home and look after yourself first. I can stay here with Buck and I promise I will call you if there are any changes." Bobby looked at Maddie and saw her slowly nod.

" But you call me? "She half asked, half stated.

" I promise. " he quickly replied.

With one final glance at her brother, Maddie made her way to the door, with Chimney closely following behind. A silent thank you was mouthed over his shoulder to the captain as the door was pulled soflty shut behind them.

Bobby took the seat Maddie had vacated and looked at Buck. "Well kid, it looks like it's just you and me."

He was almost there. The surface was calling to him and this time there was no wy he would let the darkness take him. He pushed harder than ever to get there as he just new there was something important on the other side. As he got closer and closer he became aware of new things. Like a continuous beep and a strong smell of antiseptic. But there was another smell. Home. Something around him smelt like home and it was about time he found out what. He willed his heavy eyelids to open and was met with a white blinding light.

Bobby watched as Buck's eyes slowly fluttered open. Baby blues finally being revealed from their age long sleep. His eyes were unfocused and restless until the finally met Bobby's. There were clear signs of fatigue on Buck's face and even Bobby knew he wasn't lucid enough to hold a conversation.

"It's all right kiddo, just rest" he said softly watching as Buck tried to fight sleep. It was a battle he was inevitably going to loose. Still, it was interesting to watch.

Eventually exhaustion won out and Buck's eyes closed once again. Even if it was for a second a promise was still a promise, so Bobby pulled out his phone and dialed Maddie's number. However it was Chimney that answered.

"Bobby? Is everything OK? Is Buck alright?" "Chimney asked

" Yeh,everythings fine. Is Maddie there? " he replied

" Mmmmhmmmm. Let me go grab her. "

There was some rustling as the phone was passed over. However, before Bobby got a chance to say anything, Maddie was off with the questions.

" Is he OK? Has something happened? Pleas tell me he is OK? "

" Relax Mads. Everything is good. I just called to say Buck woke up for a few seconds but has now gone back to sleep. I talked to the doctor and they said he will be up and talking tomorrow." Bobby stated

" I'll be right there"Massie replied but Bobbke quickly interjected.

"No. You need to sleep. I'll stay with him tonight and then you can spend all of tomorrow with him."

There was some muffled talking from the other line that lasted for a good five minutes before Maddie replied with a quick " Fine. But make sure he is comfortable and warm. I'll see you tomorrow " The line cut off and Bobby made for the long seat to get some sleep. However before he got there, he reached for the blanket Maddie had got from the apartment and tucked it round Buck. He then placed the bear next to his head. Now he was comfortable. Satisfied with his work, Bobby went to the chair and closed his eyes. He had a feeling tomorrow was going to be very long and tireing. Physically and mentally.

Rays of sunlight beamed in through the gaps in the blind and straight onto Buck's face. It was bright and very annoying. There was no way he was getting back to sleep. He burrowed further into his blanket and started to look around the room. It very white and looked almost like a...

Oh no he thought. I am lying in a hospital.

The last thing Buck could remember was saving the little boy and something about a mop and some floors. A sound to his right suddenly caught his attention. Slowly making his way to Buck's bed from a weird long seat was Bobby.

"Hey Buck", he said softly "How you feeling"

Buck took a second to think about it before he replied "Thirsty".

Bobby smiled and filled a cup of water, bringing it over and guiding the straw to Buck's lips. He took a long gulp nearly draining the cup at once.

"Maddie should be here soon. She'll be happy to see you awake." Bobby told him.

Buck looked up at him gratefully but there was one question that was floating through his mind. Bobby could see it to.

"How did I get here?" Buck asked so softly "The last thing I remember is saving the little boy and something about and everyone basically ignoring me."

Guilt instantly engulfed Bobby and looked Buck in the eyes. He looked so innocent and deserved the truth.

"I know that what I say now, will never make up for my actions", Bobby started " But you deserve the truth. I should never have treated you that way and I can never forgive myself for what I did. Buck I am so sorry. If it wasn't for me you wouldn't even be in this state. I never expect you to forgive me and I should never have taken my anger out on you. I should never have kept you from your family and should have helped you instead of push you away. Buck your like a son to me and I can never apologise enough for this. I don't expect your forgiveness and I can't apologise enough. "

Tears were flowing freely from Buck's eyes and Bobby couldn't stop himself from hugging him. Buck cried even harder and between gasps said " I thought you all hated me and I had torn our family apart. I didn't mean to I swear. "

" I know, I know! " Bobby whispered rubbing soft circles onto the small of his back. "We could never hate you. Your our Buck. No matter how angry we seem you will always be part of our family."

Buck nodded into Bobby's shoulder and slowly started calming down. Even though it would take a long time for their relationship to get back on track, Bobby's apology had put them on the right track. Buck was finally one step closer to getting his family back and wouldn't have to wait much longer for Maddie and Chimney were making their way to his room.
