Phoenix And Dragons

Chapter 6:

Previously on P&D: Kari and Sora's hands felt something warm and round between their hands and let go to see an orange egg with a sun-like symbol on it. They cried now feeling the price of their journey was now so Digimon and Hybrids like Tai would be able to grow up safely without fear.

It was now dark in the Forest Kingdom and all three Kings and Queens along with Sora, Kari, and their offsprings were gathered around the table in King Tachikawa's conference room talking about the days events and of their upcoming 'meeting' with the Dragon and Phoenix Kingdoms.

Kari watched the politics that were going on with wonder on how do royals do it without getting bored. She looked down at the egg holding her brother and smiled as she rubbed it and gasped when the sun-like symbol started to glow a fiery orange. They do like to talk huh I can hear it in here. The royals stopped and looked at the egg in her arms with wonder. Kari's eyes had widened as her brother's voice flowed through her ears. "Tai?" Yeah? "How?" I don't know telepathy because I don't have a mouth, hands, or limbs period. But thank you little sis, because of you and Sora I'm cheating death haha. Sora stepped up and placed her hands on the egg.

"Tai I'm so sorry! If only one of us stayed at the gate or defeat Devidramon sooner then you wouldn't be here in this egg." She started to sob dropping to her knees and burying her face onto the egg hugging it tears rolling down her face. It's alright you got your mission done and saved the Capital plus I think the king had that pollen on him cause my throat was closing up when he, Mimi and Kari showed up.

"Be lucky that I don't smash your egg Dragon." King Tachikawa snarled only to be slapped by his wife and daughter after they saw Kari and Sora shift the egg away from him putting themselves against it shielding it from him. "I still don't like your kind or kingdom remember that." My kingdom? There's a Dragon Kingdom? Everyone at the table dropped anime style at the fact that a Dragon hybrid didn't know about the Dragon Kingdom. So anyway it wasn't anyone's fault as it was mine for being careless so please don't cry Sora I can hear you crying. Sora stopped crying and picked up the egg.

"Ok I'll stop but your egg is with me tomorrow got it!" She heard Kari whine behind her. "Don't think about it Kari!" "Yes my princess!" "Good now then I believe that our meeting here is done and-"

"Can I study him? I have a few experiments in mind." Everyone turned to look at Izzy like he was insane. "What? I want to find out how he's able to talk to us. Just a scan to his brain and body is all I want." No No No No NO! "Come on Tai don't be like that plus you owe me." He was slowly edging closer to the egg and the girls. They in return started backing up with Tai's egg towards the door. "It won't hurt, not that I'll know." Doesn't sound convincing to me! Kari, Sora, HELP! The egg began to heat up causing Kari to pull her hands back from the egg with a tiny scream. Izzy then grabbed the egg from Sora who was trying to say something and let out a, 'Yow!' dropping the egg back into Sora's arms.

"Tai can you please stop cooking yourself your going to catch heatstroke." As her body was used to being on fire the egg felt like a warm rock in her arms. I'm not doing that. Her eyes widened. If he's not doing it then what is? She stopped her thinking when she looked down at the egg and noticed that the heat was coming from the symbol on it. As she looked closer it stopped glowing and the egg started to cool going back to its original state. Izzy noticed it too and approached the egg cautiously. He didn't even get 6ft within it's range when the symbol started to glow and give off heat again. It's a defensive maneuver! Sora's mind started again. It only attacks threats which is why it only stopped when Izzy left and started when he came back, it's protecting Tai! "Hey Tai you think Izzy's out to get you don't you?" Sora he wants to dissect me of course I think he's out to get me! His voice shouted within her mind. She giggled at the response before telling everyone in the room about her discovery. "I think that symbol has something to do with it as it started heating up when Tai was in danger of Izzy." She looked around the room and saw that the Beast Districts prince, Henry, she remembered had gotten the same look on his face as Izzy.

"I think we should follow Izzy's lead and study Tai." He spoke softly and slowly. "I feel like whatever branded itself to Tai should be examined and if found hostile removed." Sora stiffened at his proposal. If what they found thought they were enemies and attacks them then they'll smash the egg and Tai along with it.

"You will not harm the egg." Everyone turned to Kari with surprise and wonder at the majestic and powerful voice that came out of her mouth. Her hair was white and she gave off a shiny silver aura. "Kari?" "I am not the one you speak of, I am Homeostasis an entity of balance and control. I have been the digital world's scale for countless eons and now I come to you to help you keep the balance of the now fused world." "How are you supposed to do that and why haven't you done it already?" Izzy pondered. Sora could see the gears in his head turning. But what about Kari what have you done to her? Sora jumped forgetting that Tai was (technically) there as his voice questioned the being inside his sister. "I have not harmed her only borrowed her body so I can communicate due to me having no physical form." She turned to Izzy. "That's the answer to your second question as for the first, I am omnipotent, meaning that I exist upon all forms of existence thanks to the fusing of the worlds warping time and space around me. This means I can see the future, present, and past, and I see in the future that this egg shouldn't be smashed until after the balance is fixed only then will you be able to do whatever you want to the Bearer of Courage." The room got quiet as she said those last words and leaving Kari's body causing her to change back to normal and fall to her knees. Mimi rushed up to her.

"Are you ok? She should have asked before taking your body." Kari nodded and after that she Sora and Tai's egg were in a guest room for the night. The egg sat next to her in her bed and looked at it with sadness and guilt. She quickly pushed down her feelings and pulled the egg closer wishing it would hatch so she could hug her brother once again.

The next day Sora and Kari were preparing to leave for the Dragon Kingdom from their room in the wooden castle. Sora had told Kari about what homeostasis had said and they wondered what she meant about Tai being a 'Bearer of Courage' but little did they know they were being watched by someone from a tall tree a mile away.

"Come on please! I beg of you!" Izzy was practically begging at Sora's feet still trying to 'study' Tai's egg. They were at the gate and Izzy, Mimi, Henry, and his little sister Suzie wanted to see them off. "Plus you still owe me a favor Tai. We made a deal at least you need to hold your side!" Izzy reached for the egg and Sora slapped it away and stepped back towards the gate with Kari.

"Koushiro Izumi! I am disappointed in you Tai is your friend and all you want to do is kill him." Mimi looked away from him in disgust. "But Mimi think about it like this what if that thing on his egg is actually killing him it could be worse than not trying at all." Henry looked at the egg eyes piercing through it. "Let them go." "Nani!" Let them go it would be better if the egg hatched and if or study does end up hurting him we'll be able to tell." He looked down at Suzie. "Plus I owe him for saving my little sister." Izzy looked up and into Henry's gray eyes with his own dark ones. After a minute their silent conversation ended with Izzy nodding and went to stand next to Mimi.

"Thank you for everything see you at the Digigames!" Kari shouted as she and Sora disappeared into the trees towards the Dragon Kingdom. Little did they know they were being watched the whole time.

Two Weeks Later: Kari and Sora trudged through the forest the stars shining through the treetops. They weren't even halfway there yet as Sora had said as they still had to cross the mountains and volcanoes to get to the valley where it was located. The egg wiggled in Kari's arms and she looked down at it. "Any day now and we'll be able to here Tai's terrible jokes again." They both smiled and quickly frowned as the egg didn't glow it hadn't since they left the Plant Kingdom. Kari looked up at the sky wishing she could hug and laugh with her brother once again. She saw the rising moon and spread her beautiful wings into the moonlight. "We should look for a place to sleep." Sora nodded and her aura appeared and her auburn hair started to ember at the ends as they took to the skys.

"That looks like a good spot to sleep." Sora called to the angelic girl pointing to a small clearing of leaves showing giant branches and parts of the canopy. It would provide cover for the night. She watched as Kari landed on a branch and cuddled up with the egg. "Now, now Kari. It's my turn tonight." She saw Kari look at her and shake her head. She forgot Kari could be stingy with her brother. I'm not like that am I? Na. "Don't be like that you had him for 32 hours now I want him for at least tonight." She walked up and pried the egg out of her arms and sat on the other side of the clearing curling and smiled when it wiggled as she rubbed her face against it. Please come back Tai we need you. She turned her head and caught sight of a humanoid figure in the shadows. She blinked and it was gone. Probably nothing.

The stranger watched her from afar smirking in the darkness of night. "Sorry sis but I have to steal your little boyfriend." She waited until she was sure they both were asleep and when she assumed they were with quick slender fox-like movements she approached. When she reached them she looked down at Sora with disgust and pried the egg out of her arms. Smiling at her prize she turned about to hop onto a branch when the sun-like symbol started to glow and heat up. She yelped almost dropping the egg as her arms were burned by the amount of heat the egg was giving off. Thank God my hands are fireproof, She thought as she held out the still hot egg and silently cursed as she heard Sora start to wake behind her.

"W-What are you doing with Tai." Sora woke up with a start noticing Tai's egg not in her arms but in someone else's. As she looked up at the eggnapper her eyes widened. The figure in front of her was about the same height as Tai once was and wore a dark purple cloak with matching boots and gloves. She had pointed ears like a fox and had nine yellow tails coming out her cloak. She had fire red hair and cold violet eyes and had a shirt with a broken heart on it. Deep down Sora knew this person as her lost sister. "Rika?"

Rika looked down at her little sister with disappointment and disgust in her eyes. "Sup little sis thought I'd take this off your hands for awhile." She held up her prize and took off into the night.

"Wait, Rika!" Sora flew into the night after her. Rika had quick and quiet movements as she tried to run from her. As Sora flew between treetops and branches she caught sight of the sun-like symbol on Tai's egg and put all her strength into grabbing it.

Rika turned and saw Sora trailing behind her and turned around to attack when she was hit from behind by a powerful force. She fell off the branch she was on and fell into some bushes below. She looked up and saw Sora floating in the air holding the egg in her arms and a angelic girl next to her looking at her with strong eyes.

"Don't touch my brother ever again!" Kari remembered waking up to find Rika running away with Tai's egg with Sora tailing her and decided to follow underneath the trees slowly catching up until she attacked Rika causing her to fall and let go of the egg. "What do you want from him?"

"None of your business cupid!" Rika shouted and lunged at Sora who gave Kari the now cooled egg before getting slammed against the tree. Sora looked into her sisters eyes with hurt and longing. Rika looked back with hate and rage.

"Why Rika, why? We thought you were dead." "Do I look dead to you?" "Bu-" "No I was abandoned by you and mom for 7 years Sora. 7 fucking years I was forced to watch as you went on in life without me. But now that pain is over as I now live in a place where I'm needed and won't be lied to like the two of YOU!" Fierce blue flames appeared on the tips of her nine tails, hands, and feet. Her ponytail also became a sparkling blue flame as her eyes narrowed at her little sister. "Now let's see how much stronger you've become."

"Kari stay back and protect Tai!" Sora called out to the girl. Kari nodded and flew up into the sky so only Sora could reach her as Rika couldn't fly. She knew Sora could handle whoever this 'Rika' but was worried after the girl called Sora 'sister'. As she looked down at the fight she saw Sora had not gone into a fighting stance and was still cornered trying to conversate with Rika who had done the exact opposite.

"Please at least tell where you've been." Sora was almost to tears at seeing her long lost sister and the first thing they do is fight for an egg. Rika then dropped her stance and looked her in the eye.

"Tell you what because I haven't seen you in a while we make a deal I win I take your boyfriend and leave. If you win then maybe I'll spill 'some' of the beans." Sora thought about this as it was a tempting deal. Learn about where her sister had been for the last 7 years and find out why she was here or lose Tai. She wanted so much to find out what happened to Rika, but was it worth the lost of Tai? She knew her sister always had a mind for creative plans. Eventually her mind made was made up.

"Deal." She would win no, she had to win. For Tai, for Kari, for herself.

Rika smirked at her decision and got back into her stance blue flames still flickering from her body. Just like the old days where I get her to do what I want and win. Sora was across from her and had gone into a battle stance with her aura out though her hair didn't start to ember. They stood there waiting for the other to move until a leaf hit the ground and they pounced each other.

"Touhakken!" Rika's flaming hands moved to punch Sora but the latter grabbed her fist and kneeled Rika in the gut.

"Meteor Wing!" Sora jumped back and shot fire balls at Rika who in turn shot back.

"Fox Tail Inferno!" Her 9 tails lifted and fired blue balls which overpowered Sora's. She smirked as Sora cried out at the burning of the blue flames. My flames are hotter than her's which gives me an advantage as my flames overpower her's as well. She then grabbed and slammed Sora into a nearby tree which fell over due to the impact. "Give up Sora you know that I'm stronger than you in every way. You can't win this fight." She watched as her sister tried to get up and kicked her through another tree. "What is so important about that egg that you fight a losing battle just to protect." She walked up to Sora who was trying to get up and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and glared into her eyes. The younger girl gave her a weak smile then replied.

"Because he's my friend and would do the same for me."

"Don't give me your crap! Why do you love an egg more than you ever loved me?!" Sora looked into her sister's eyes and saw the hurt and anger in them.

"I don't. I love everyone of my friends and family evenly even now, I love you Rika." Rika's glare twisted into a snarl and with a swift movement covered her body in blue flames and repeatedly punched Sora until finishing by throwing her in the air and charging up her attack.

"Your a liar and liars can burn in hell! Dragon Wheel!" The blue flames took the shape of a dragon and soared towards Sora who closed her eyes knowing that she couldn't avoid or survive the impact.

Sora waited and waited in anticipation for the attack when she was grabbed from behind and lifted into the air. She looked up at the being who carried her and saw that it had been Kari with the egg in her other hand.

"You know Sora, we love you too." Kari said softly and Tai's egg started to glow lightly. Sora blushed lightly thanking that it was dark out.

"Thanks you guys." A red glow came out from underneath her shirt. She pulled it out only to find it was her crest of love and felt great power coming out of it. Her eyes widened when it fused into her hand and left a tattoo on the back of her hand like Kari's.

"Seems the crest loves you too." Sora looked back up at her and smiled. "Yeah." She felt so content that she almost forgot her sister trying to steal Tai. Almost because two blue balls of fire soared right into two of Kari's wings and they tumbled into the trees falling through branches and leaves until the hard earth greeted them.

Sora woke up to Rika standing over her with Tai's egg tucked under arm the other outstretched towards her blazing blue flames coming out. She stiffened thinking the worst.

"I'll be taking this with me thank you." She started walking when she passed Kari's unconscious body and a evil smirk crossed her features. "But before I go this is what you get for lying to me." She stretched out her hand towards Kari and Sora's eyes widened in fear and betrayal. My sister would never kill someone let alone an innocent hybrid who has done nothing wrong. Rika began charging up a ball of fire and looked Sora in the eye silently laughing at her as it was her fault her friend would die.

"Rika please do whatever you want to me but please don't hurt my friends!" She begged and begged to her sister hoping a piece of her was in there until she started to laugh.

"My poor pathetic sister this is why all of your friends will die, because your to weak and useless." Her put the egg next to Kari and charged up the other hand pointing towards the siblings .Something snapped in Sora then. It didn't matter that the person she called her sister was the one doing it,

"I won't let you hurt my friends and the people I love!" Flames surrounded her being covering the changes going on inside a red glow shining through the flames. Rika watched the event with surprise and fear knowing what was happening. When the flames died Sora stood covered in a black shirt and shorts with red armor covering them. Two big scarlet wings had popped out her back and on her head was a red helmet that looked like a falcon head.

"Birdramon digivolve to... Garudamon!" Sora stepped out of the flames her red eyes glaring right through Rika's violet ones. "I'm sorry Rika I have to do this but I won't let you hurt the people I love." In one swift movement she cleared the gap between them and tackled her through a tree. The tree in turn started to fall towards her, Kari, the egg and without fear held up the tree with one hand. Rika on the other hand had fear as it was in her eyes and sweat as she looked at Sora. Sora dropped the tree next to her and walked towards Rika who had just built up enough courage to fight Sora.

"Dragon Wheel!" This time instead of shooting flames she charged. As she got closer Sora stopped walking and took a step back pulling her fist back as she did. Perfect she's scared. Digivolution or no it's still Sora. As Rika closed the gap between them Sora's fist exploded into flames.

"Phoenix Claw!" To anyone watching it looked like she was punching Rika with style when in reality she was mimicking Tai's 'Burning Claw' attack. She ducked under Rika and as she went over punched her in the gut so hard she went flying through the treetops like a shooting star. Rika shot into the air cursing until she looked down and saw Sora flying towards her with speed she thought only she could achieve.

"Shadow Wing!" Sora spread her wings and an aura of fire covered her being until it was shot towards Rika who screamed as it exploded on impact sending her flying far away into the distance. "Goodbye for now sis, hope you come home one day." She heard the flapping of wings behind her and smiled as Kari flew up beside her the egg flashing and wiggling in her arms.

"Sora he's hatching! He's hatching!" Sora bent over the egg in her arms which seemed to wiggle more and more by the second the sun threatening to rise. Then it clicked in both their heads and Sora and Kari turned the sun-like symbol towards the rising sun. As soon as they did they heard tiny cracks and in mere moments a tiny black haired blob appeared.

"Tai?" Sora questioned. The blob looked at her and nuzzled itself against her hand. "Tai!" They both cried and hugged him tears falling as he was finally back in the flesh. The morning was full of happy sobs and hugs.

1 Day later in the Mountain Kingdom: Rika kneeled on the floor of the Mountain castle. In front of her sat a young man around the age if not older than Sora with blond hair and blue eyes. "You've failed me Rika, it seems that they stop even you now which means trouble. I won't punish you as your not at fault though next time I won't be as merciful." The man then turned to someone else in the room. "MetalEtemon according to Rika they're going to the Dragon Kingdom you know what to do."

"Yes my king it will be the best and last performance they've ever seen."
