No warnings this time. Enjoy!
The two days passed rather slowly for our kitsune. Sitting in the cell all day without so much as a distraction. He somehow managed to revert back enough to Jonouchi Katsuya that Seto believed him. She let him out not long after. She still took him to America too, so that was a bonus.
Katsuya, being our loveable little insane demon fox, still hates those Somas for getting away. He's not done with them yet, but he was resigning to deal with them later. A late night snack, hmm?
Seto on the other hand was just hoping against hope that her boyfriend would snap out of whatever he was going through. Too many times this past month he had wacked out. Ever since Kyoto he had just been weird. Why? She was going to find out, one way or another. But for now, she had to deal with work and living a normal life.
Hence why they were now in America, about to walk into one of her mansions. Bought a good fifty years ago when she had compelled the salesman to give it to her for free. Easy stuff. The house had been in her name for years, and she made sure to put it in the fake name's will to hand over to another fake name. Which would, coincidently, be her.
But now to our supernatural duo, who really need to work out their problems…
"So you own another mansion?"
Seto smirked at her partner. Katsuya was staring up at the big home. It wasn't exactly the same as the one they lived in. Hence being American style, it was blockier and would have a massive 'greeting' room at the front before going into the other rooms for the living and whatnot. Massive stairs would go to the second floor in that greeting room.
"I bought this a while ago, before I became a Kaiba." She fished around in her bag for her keys. "I'll just hope Mokuba hasn't been here recently and left bodies around the place."
"…he wouldn't do that, right?"
She shrugged. As she inserted the key, she said, "It wouldn't be the first time."
Katsuya shook his head with a smile as she pushed open the door. The first thing she noticed was the lack of dust. She hadn't been here for twenty odd years…it should be dusty and old looking…
Second thing she noticed, however, was the man sitting on the stairs. He grinned as they both stopped, expressions of confusion on their faces.
But for very different reasons.
"Ah I thought I heard the right rumour!"
Seto stared as he disappeared to reappear in front of her. She blinked before he suddenly lifted her up.
All Kaiba façade disappeared and she clung to his shoulders as he spun in a circle, faster than any human being could do.
"It's good to see you again Kaseri!"
She smiled out of genuine happiness.
"You too Liam." He dropped her and she smirked. "But what are you doing here?"
The old Vampire grinned. Liam Maxwell had not aged a day since they met. Of course not.
Jet black hair had been trimmed since the last time she saw him, now in a nice cut for the day and age. Purple eyes had darkened a little, but hadn't changed much at all from their pale lavender. He wore jeans, a t-shirt and a black leather jacket. He didn't scream Vampire. She idly wondered how he was coping with technology…
"A little birdie told me you were going to be in America for the next two weeks," he said to her earlier question. "I figured I'd drop in. Say hi, you know."
"Right…" She rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Anyway," she said in a breath, "Liam, this is Katsuya Jonouchi." Said blond startled out of his suspicious stare as she introduced him English style. Actually, she just realised they had been speaking in English…well she might as well continue doing so… "Katsuya is my partner."
"Partner?" Liam echoed with a soft frown. "I don't think I approved of any boyfriends?"
Seto rolled her eyes again. She smirked and stepped back to stand next to Katsuya, who was now frowning lightly.
"You don't make that decision," she reminded him. "Now, if you would excuse us–"
"Hold up." He rose a hand. Those purple eyes focused on Katsuya. She felt the blond tense a little. "Do you know?"
"About Vampires, yes." Katsuya smirked a little. "You're the one I saw in Seto's dream."
While Liam frowned in confusion, Seto flushed in embarrassment. She completely forgot Katsuya had seen that memory! That was one of her worse times…
"Oh…?" Liam asked in a suggestive tone. Seto glared at him, but her blush was still there from earlier. "Having dreams about me when you have a boyfriend?"
"It wasn't like that," she growled. "I'd never think that way towards you."
He shrugged, still grinning. He looked back at Katsuya.
"So mind explaining how you saw this dream?"
Katsuya just gave that sly grin that was beginning to set Seto on high alert.
"How about you figure that out yourself?" He looked down at Seto. The slight red in his brown eyes faded. "So where are we putting our things?"
She blinked before gesturing to the stairs behind Liam.
"There's a room upstairs."
As she made to move around her old friend again, the man stopped her, again.
"Wait, what are you?" He was speaking to Katsuya again. "You're not a Vampire, but you aren't human."
"Liam, let's leave this for later." She pushed his hand away and walked around him. "Come on Katsuya."
The blond smirked a little and followed her. She ignored the analytical stares from the both of them as they passed each other. Honestly…
As they walked down the hallways upstairs, Katsuya looked at her in innocent confusion.
"What is he doing here?" he asked quietly. "And what's with the possessive stuff?"
She rolled her eyes.
"I don't know why he's here," she admitted, knowing full well said Vampire was listening to their conversation. "But I know he's not going to leave." She could imagine him smirking at that. "You don't have to worry. He's kind of like an older brother, not some ex or anything."
"Hmm…" Katsuya's expression switched to that of his supernatural than the human persona. He looked…suspicious? Jealous? "I don't think I like him…"
She smirked. Oh…this could be an interesting two weeks…
"Well make it fun for yourself." She opened their bedroom door. A big room with a queen sized bed etc. "Play a game of guess. He's not familiar with your brand, after all."
She caught a hint of the fox in that grin.
"This might be fun…"
They dropped their things in the room and promptly went back out. Seto had a meeting with the American board. It was one of three in the span of two weeks. The rest of the time would be free, relaxing, holiday time that she had been intending to spend with Katsuya, but now had an overprotective Vampire friend too.
As they came back downstairs, they found Liam sitting on the living room couch. He lifted his head as they came in.
"Oh, what are these?"
Seto's heart skipped a beat. Her deck! How did he–?!
She patted her pockets, Katsuya doing a similar thing in surprise. He had swiped them? How? When?!
"Give them back," she said while holding her hand out.
Liam shrugged and handed her a deck. Flipping it over, she relaxed as her Blue Eyes' revealed themselves. Good…
"Are ya gonna give me my deck?" Katsuya muttered, voice showing he knew full well there was a price.
Liam hummed softly before turning on the couch to face them properly.
"Well…" his eyes flashed, "how about you tell me what you are, hmm?"
Seto glanced at Katsuya. His eyes flashed red.
"How about you just give it to me?" His smile was steadily turning dark… "You may be considered old in your species, but compared to me, no."
Liam rose an eyebrow.
"Is that so?"
Before it could get any worse, Seto slid in front of Katsuya. She smiled and rested her hands on his chest to bring his attention to her.
"Katsuya…let's not start a fight…" She caught the flash of annoyance, before his eyes slowly dimmed back to honey brown. "Liam," she glared at the Vampire, "return his deck."
Liam frowned softly. He stood up and held the deck out to Katsuya. Seto moved out of the way.
As Katsuya went to grab it, Liam suddenly disappeared. Both of them froze-
Katsuya gasped in more surprise than pain. Seto gasped in surprise.
"Liam!"
The Vampire smirked as he shoved the silver dagger further into Katsuya's chest. The blond growled and his eyes turned red.
"So you're not a Werewolf." Liam pulled the dagger back out and Katsuya stumbled a little. He seemed to take a breath before glaring at the Vampire. His wound had healed already. "Woah…that was fast…"
"What the hell?!" Katsuya ran his hand over his wound free but bloody chest. "What if I had been a Werewolf?"
Liam just smiled. Seto sighed and gently grabbed Katsuya's arm.
"Come on. I'm going to be late for the meeting at this rate."
She wasn't going to acknowledge the fact her Vampire friend had just attempted to kill her boyfriend...
Katsuya huffed as he did up his jacket and left the house with her. To both their annoyance, Liam followed.
"What meeting?" he asked while coming to her other side. "You important around here?"
"In Japan," she muttered. "Ever heard of Seto Kaiba?"
Liam paused, before shrugging.
"I don't pay attention to celebrities."
Sure…
Seto sighed and slid into the limo. Liam blinked at the massive car before following. She could feel Katsuya's annoyance and frustration, but she decided not to bother with it. Liam was going to follow them anywhere. They had no choice.
"While we're in public," Seto muttered as she looked out the window, "you can not call me Kaseri. Kaiba would be more suitable."
"Why not Seto?" Liam cocked his head. "He gets to call you that."
"And that is because he is my boyfriend." She stressed the word. Katsuya smirked a little. "Even friends don't call each other by first names in Japan, much less me."
Liam pouted a little, but he grumbled an agreement of sorts. She mentally sighed as the frustration on Katsuya eased a little.
This was going to be one difficult trip…
He sighed as the Vampire continued to pace. It had only been two hours, and yet he had less of an attention span that him! Katsuya mentally growled before looking at the man.
Liam must have felt his attention because he turned to him. Katsuya rose an eyebrow.
"These things can go for hours you know." Liam's face fell at that. "Once we were going to go on a date for the day, but it ended up a dinner date."
Liam groaned softly. He sat in the seat next to Katsuya. The blond instantly stiffened, his fur standing on end. He didn't like this man. Not just because of his familiarity with Seto, but the fact he was older bothered him. The fact he could stab him, while he had been concentrating enough to stop normal supernatural creatures, made him a dangerous enemy.
"Alright." He blinked as Liam struck up conversation. He glanced at the Vampire. "I hate to admit it, but you and I are alike." …how so… "Acting like idiots for the fun of it but really pretty smart on the inside." …ok… "I can see you processing every single little thing I do and stowing it away into different weaknesses and strengths." … "So can we just make something clear before we start getting into some sort of hatred thing over Kaseri?"
"…ok…"
Liam nodded before saying, "I like her. I care for her. If you do anything to hurt her, I will hunt you down and kill you." He smiled and Katsuya just smirked. "So, friends on the prospect of protecting and loving Kaseri?"
Katsuya cocked his head as he looked at the outstretched hand.
"Well that depends. Is your love romantic of family?"
Liam blinked, recoiled a little in surprise, and whispered almost distractedly, "I want to say family, but I'm not sure myself..."
…that could be a problem…but then again…
"Alright…" He shook his hand. "I guess you're gonna want to know what I am, right?"
"Of course!" Liam smirked. "You going to tell me?"
Katsuya hummed softly.
"Well…I don't know…" He grinned. "This game could be fun."
Instead of getting annoyed like he expected, Liam rose an eyebrow.
"Game?" His eyes darkened a little. "You're definitely not one of the Supernatural Three…"
"Nope!" He let his own eyes turn red. Just for the sake of the game, he let them go vulpine too. Liam's eyes widened. "You might have to do some research."
As the Vampire frowned softly, looking down at the ground in thought, Seto stepped out of the closed door. She frowned as she saw the two of them sitting together.
"I missed something important, didn't I?"
Katsuya just grinned while Liam smiled.
"So where to next?" Katsuya asked while standing.
Seto smiled and pulled out her phone.
"First, Kaiba Land America." Oh yes! An amusement park! "Then maybe we'll go out tonight."
"There's a cool club not far from the house," Liam commented as he fell into step on the other side of Seto. "You guys might enjoy it."
While Seto paused, Katsuya smiled.
"Why not?" She looked at him surprised. "It could be fun."
Seto looked between the both of them with a suspicious frown, before sighing.
"Fine." Katsuya grinned and so did Liam. "But Kaiba Land first." She gave her dark smirk. "I need to see how these idiots have messed up."
As she walked ahead, Liam sent a surprised look his way.
"She's harsh."
Katsuya shrugged.
"Seriously man, you haven't seen half of it."
He couldn't stop grinning the whole time. His annoyance at Liam evaporated the instant they began going on the rides. The American branch was nowhere near as good as Japan, but it was close. The only downside was the lack of duels. More people rode the rides than duelled in the smaller stadium.
The three had enjoyed a good afternoon hanging out. Due to no one knowing Seto was the Seto Kaiba, she could relax and have fun. Katsuya honestly liked it as well. It meant he didn't have to be overly ditzy too. They could have fun as more or less themselves.
The rollercoasters were great. The duel monster themed rides were awesome. Liam's reactions to everything was the best so far! Especially when Katsuya and Seto duelled in the vacant stadium. His outburst at the holograms and the massive dragons…
It was great.
Now, after a good couple hours of playing, they were sitting down at one of the many cafés stationed around the park. Katsuya was hungry, and he was pretty sure the other two were despite Seto's grumbles at having to eat the food. She said the American branch was too greasy, unlike in Japan. He really didn't care.
"You know," Liam started as he sat, "I know about technology, but I've never seen anything like this." He looked at Seto. "You made all this?"
That egotistical, smug smirk crossed her face. Katsuya mentally groaned. Here we go…
"I made the holograms and advanced technology," she explained. "The rides more or less existed before, but I made them better."
"Adding duel monsters doesn't necessarily make them better…" Katsuya commented to receive a glare from Seto.
"It so does."
He shrugged. Did he see a Red Eyes Black Dragon ride here? No. Did he see any Red Eyes Black Dragon themed things? No. It was practically all Blue Eyes!
"Still," Liam was saying, "how is it you," he pointed at Seto, "Miss I-must-not-get-too-involved-in-human-affairs, made a gaming company and have taken over most of a country?"
Smug smile again…
"I'm just too amazing."
Katsuya laughed at that. She smirked.
"While we're on the topic of the past though…" Katsuya whispered, "how old are you Liam?"
Liam blinked at the sudden question. He pursed his lips a little.
"Eh…well…a couple hundred, I'll tell you that much." He smirked slyly. "I'll tell you the exact number when you tell me yours."
Katsuya just rolled his eyes.
"Sure sure."
He leaned back in his seat as Seto and Liam dived into another conversation about the past twenty years. They had separated soon before Seto and Mokuba moved to Japan. They had catching up to do, and he wasn't too bothered by it. He was still trying to wrap his head around the old Vampire.
Something just wasn't…right…
Beginning to grow bored, Katsuya cast his eyes to the menu stuck on the café wall. He looked over the words, waiting for something to jump out at him. Hmm…hot chips would be nice–
What was that?!
Katsuya quickly looked behind him as something blue flicked across his vision. He frowned as something akin to a fox tail ran around the other side of the café building.
Blue fox tail…
"Katsuya?"
He jumped and turned back around. The Vampires were looking at him weird.
"Ah, I thought I saw somethin'." He scratched the back of his head with a sheepish grin. "Must have been my thoughts."
Seto, used to this, just smiled and continued conversation. Liam's eyes lingered a little before he tuned back in. Katsuya sighed.
He glanced back before shaking his head. That couldn't be right…
What were the chances of meeting two Kitsune in the span of one month?
"Oh my…" He grinned. "What have I started?"
Below he watched spirits run rampant across the land. Humans hid in fear. Foxes grinned and possessed humans. Seduced humans. Other Yokai did as they commanded. He loved it all…
The only thing he had to work on now was that little Celestial Thirteen…she was still loyal to Inari and it was about time she came to his side…
About time she finally remembered what that 'god' had done to them…
He lowered from his position in the sky to a seemingly cloud building. He pushed open the white door and stepped inside. Almost immediately, she appeared.
"You're not supposed to be here."
He blinked as she tried to push him back out. He cocked his head with what could be called an unnerving smile.
"Ah come on Celest!" He wrapped his arms around her waist and she promptly stiffened. "Don't you want to join in? The others are all having fun. You could too."
"No!" She pushed out of his grip and turned away, arms crossed. "Rei, don't you understand what you have done?" She didn't give him a chance to answer. "You've destroyed this world! You know we can't hold back! It's in our nature to cause chaos."
"So you admit this is doing something?" He stalked up behind her. She stiffened, platinum blond hair blowing in the soft wind through the open window. "Come on…" He gently placed his hands on her shoulders. She didn't move. "You know you wanna," he whispered next to her ear. "You miss the taste of those delicious souls. The feel of a physical body…" She tried to shrug him off but he tightened his grip. "Don't you want to be free…?" He smirked as she promptly froze. Freedom was the only thing a Kitsune couldn't resist. "Inari has locked us in his cage far too long…we were born to cause trouble. Play tricks…" He gently slid his hands down to her waist again. She didn't protest as he pulled her into his chest. Her tails lowered. "Our purpose is to help humanity grow." He reached up and brushed her long hair away from her shoulder to reveal her neck. Her breath hitched a little as he hooked a finger onto the pastel yellow collar. "We are not supposed to be chained and collared like pets."
Slowly, those daffodil yellow eyes turned to him. They were brimming with tears.
"Why are you doing this?" she whispered, voice wavering. "Why must you bring all of us down with you?"
"Oh but I'm not." He smiled and gently brushed the one slipping tear away. "Once you finally let go of the lies Inari has told us, you'll understand. Just let go…" He gently slipped his tails around her own. Her breath shuddered but she began to relax in his grip. "Kitsune are free spirits. We're foxes. We are sly and play tricks, but we care for one another. We are not domestic animals. Don't you want to be free Celest?
She shuddered but gave a very slight nod. He held back his grin. Perfect…
"Let me free you…" he whispered. "All you have to do is ask…"
She shuddered again, before gently turning her head into the crook of his collarless neck. He smirked as she closed her eyes.
"Please…" she whispered, her ears drooping and tails sagging. "I don't want to be alone…"
Ah yes…family was everything to her…
"You won't be…"
