I was curled up by the fireplace with Hermione, when she said, "So... er, I have a question."
"Fire away." I said, taking a sip of my tea.
"How does Draco act around you? How... different is he."
"Uh, well he's pretty funny, I suppose. And he's very overdramatic, of course. He's kinder than you would expect him to be. He's also very blatantly honest, which is a curse and a blessing. He's also annoyingly sarcastic, if you couldn't tell. He's a sore loser, which you knew that. He's very gentle, like when he touches me, even just a hand hold, he treats me like I'm fragile. He's insensitive at times, but is more understanding than most boys. Like on my period, instead of just telling me to walk it off and it's not that bad, he bought me a box of chocolate frogs and rubbed my back. He made sure I felt better. He's also devastatingly handsome, so that's a perk. Plus he's a fantastic kisser. Uhh, I suppose that's it."
"He sounds... great." Hermione said.
"Yeah he is, but he has his flaws like everyone else. He's arrogant, egotistical, and sometimes just plain rude. But I mean, what guy isn't? Besides he's not that way to me."
"He sounds like a good person, Ginny. And maybe I would think he was right for you if it wasn't for all of the things he's done to us."
"I understand. But you just need to let the past be the past. Holding onto grudges is bad for your heart."
"You're right, but my dislike for him isn't going to go away overnight... I need some time, I hope you understand."
"I understand completely, Mione."
"Thank you. I'll try to keep Ron off your case as much as I can, because no matter how horrible he was to us, he isn't horrible to you. Hell, he isn't even horrible to me or Harry either. Just Ron, which is understandable."
"Speaking of, where is he? He usually is at your tail." I asked.
"I have no idea. We should probably go looking for him. Make sure he hasn't gotten stuck anywhere."
"You're right." I said, getting up.
She followed my example, and we walked into the kitchen, "Hey, Mum. Have you seen Ron?" I asked.
"Last I saw of him he was heading upstairs dear, he was with your brothers. Oh, and you're father is working late again. I just thought I should let you know."
"Ok. Thank you, Mum."
"Maybe he's in his room." Hermione offered.
I nodded, "Let's go."
We started up the stairs, but Hermione stopped in front of my door, "Wait." She said, "I hear voices in your room."
"What?" I asked.
"Someone's in your room." She whispered.
I frowned, and opened my bedroom door.
My brothers froze in shock. Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron were standing in a circle around my desk. My letter from Draco was in Ron's hand. He had read it. They all had.
Waves of fury hit me, and my fist clenched around my wand.
"Are you serious?" I hissed, "I cannot believe you!" I yelled. I took the letter from him, and put it in my back pocket.
"I have tolerated your nonsense for a long time, Ron, but this crosses a line! You all crossed a line!" I yelled, "You invaded my privacy! What's in the letter is extremely personal, and none of your business! I had hoped that you at least had enough respect for me to not snoop through my things! It's time to grow up! All of you! You're acting like gossiping little thirteen year olds! KEEP YOUR NOSES OUT OF MY PERSONAL LIFE!" I yelled, "Get out of my room! All of you, now!"
Hermione glared at Ron, "You're such a jerk." She said.
"What did I do?" He demanded.
Her mouth fell open, "Are you kidding me? Jus-Just get out! Merlin, I can't stand you sometimes!" She exclaimed.
"What's all this yelling about?" Harry said, coming up the stairs, Alex behind him.
"My brothers are insensitive prats!" I exclaimed, "That's what all the yelling is about!"
"What happened?" Alex asked.
"They read her letter from Draco." Hermione replied.
Alex gasped, "They did?"
Harry frowned, but said nothing.
Alex glared at every single one of them, "You're all right twats, I hope you know."
"Just get them out." I sighed, sitting on my bed and resting my head in my hands. Alex waved her arm towards the door, "You heard her."
My brothers left, and Alex and Hermione sat on either side of me, with their arms wrapped around me.
"They're prats." Alex sighed, "I'm sorry they read your letter."
"Yeah. They had no right." Hermione agreed.
"I'm just so sick of them." I sighed, "I think I'm just going to shower and go straight to bed." I said.
"Alright." Hermione said, "Well, I'll go yell at your brother a little more, then I think I might do the same."
"You two can do that, but I'm not skipping dinner. Your Mum's making Shepard's Pie." Alex said with a grin.
A while later...
I was woken up by Alex shaking me, "Ginny, wake up. Draco's downstairs, and I think Ron might kill him."
"What?" I exclaimed. I got up and sprinted down the stairs, not caring I was just in an old jersey and short shorts.
There was Draco, glaring at Ron who was being held back by the twins.
Draco looked up to the stairs, and met my eyes. I walked up to him, and asked him, "What are you doing here?"
"That's what I was just trying to explain." He said.
"Ron will you just calm down! Obviously he's not a threat."
"Yes he is! How else would he get past our wards."
"Yeah, there are holes everywhere, you really need to fix that." He said to my father, "Anyway, why I am here is to warn all of you. The Dark Lord knows Potter is here and is sending Greyback, Bellatrix, and my father to come and kill all of you. I don't know how they plan to kill you, but that doesn't matter. All of you need to leave."
"How can we know you aren't lying to us, Malfoy?" Dad said
"What's in it for me to lie?" He asked.
"You of all people would love to see Harry dead." Ron growled.
Draco rolled his eyes, "I think he's a pathetic waste of space, but I don't want him dead."
I slapped his arm, and he glared at me.
"Be nice." I said.
"I'm being nice. I told him I didn't want him dead, didn't I?"
I rolled my eyes, "Whatever. I'm to drained to argue with you right now."
"Good." He said, before turning his attention back to my family.
I glared at him.
"Look, you can either stay, and be attacked, or leave without me knowing your location, and be safe. Either way, I'm keeping Ginny safe. Even if I have to take her somewhere myself."
"We're staying. And my daughter is going no where with you, Malfoy." Dad said angrily.
"I'm afraid that wasn't an option." He said.
"I will not be ordered around in my own house." Dad said.
Draco sighed, "I'm not ordering you around, sir. I'm simply looking out for the well being of your daughter."
Alex cleared her throat.
"And my annoying sister." He added.
"Dad I think we should listen to him. I think he genuinely does care about her." Bill said.
"How are you so sure?" Dad asked.
"I... well, all of us, we read the letter he wrote her... the one the came with the ring."
"Wonderful." Draco said.
"They went snooping for it in my room." I told him.
"Did you like the ring?" He asked, distracted.
"No, Draco. I didn't like it."
He frowned, "Really?"
"No, you dummy, I love it. It one of the best gifts I've ever gotten."
"Well, good. I thought you'd like the emeralds. It's your favorite color."
I smiled at him, "Yeah, it is."
Alex tapped Draco on the shoulder, "Focus lover boy." She said.
"Right! Well, er thank you Weasley brother number 5, for believing me."
"My name is Bill." Bill said.
"Bill. You work for Gringotts, right?"
"I do."
"Right... well, so what's the vote then? Staying or leaving."
"I suppose... we will leave." Dad said.
"Fine by me!" Draco said. "Er, be safe." He said, before opening the door.
"Wait, wait!" Bill said, "If we're leaving then you're coming with us. How do we know you won't just go tell your Master we're leaving."
"He isn't my Master. And I have no idea where you're going."
"Still. I think it's best you come with us."
"But I have no clothes. And if I'm missing my parents are going to worry." He said.
"We can summon your things. And you're parents will be fine."
"Alright. Just, summon my school trunk, broom, and owl."
"On it." Charlie said, summoning all of Draco's things. His trunk, broom and owl cage, which held an owl, came flying through the open window.
Draco grabbed his things, and placed them outside by the door.
"We should start packing." Dad said.
I took Draco's hand, and started leading him to my room.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dad asked.
"Draco's going to help me pack." I said, hurrying him up to my room before my father could object.
I shut the door behind me, and kissed him.
He wrapped his arms around me, and kissed me back.
"I've missed you." I said in between kisses.
"I missed you too." He replied.
I lead him to my bed, and pushed him down on it.
"We're supposed to be packing." He said while kissing down my neck.
"I'm already packed." I told him, unbuttoning his shirt and running my hands down his chest.
"Have you?"
"Mhmm." I hummed, as I leaned down and kissed all over him.
"Your parents or brothers could walk in, or hear."
"My doors locked and I soundproofed my room."
"You're devious." He said, flipping us over so he was on top.
"I learned from the best." I replied, sliding off my jersey and bra. He slid off his pants and mine.
"We better make this quick, then." He said.
After we finished, we hurriedly got dressed and fixed our hair. I gasped as I saw a hickey on my neck.
"Draco!" I hissed, "Look what you did!"
"Did I do that? Whoops." He said.
"How can you not care?" I demanded, "They're going to know, and then I won't be able to play Quidditch!"
"Just put a cosmetic charm on it."
"I can't do magic outside of Hogwarts."
"Please. There's so many wizards in this house it'll be hard to pinpoint who it came from."
"Is that true?" I asked.
"Yeah." He replied.
I waved my wand, and my hickey disappeared. I waited. No ministry owl can flying through the window. Nothing happened.
"See I told you." Draco replied.
"That's awesome. Now I can hex my brothers the next time they go through my things."
"Did they really read the letter?" He asked.
I nodded, "I'm sorry. I thought I hid it well."
"Don't worry about it. At least now it's convincing them to leave, instead of staying."
"Yeah." I agreed, "Draco... are there people seriously coming to get us?"
"Ginny. I would never lie to you." He lifted up my hand that had my ring on it, and kissed the ring, "I promise." He said.
I hugged him, and just then someone whispered Alohamora and my door flew open.
It was my family, they were all standing there, staring at us.
I let go of Draco, "Merlin, I can't even have a private moment in this house. All I ask for is some privacy and personal space. Why can't you give it to me?" I demanded.
"Don't take that tone young lady. Why was your door locked?" Mum demanded.
"We were having a private and personal conversation. I didn't want you barging in and ruining it. Like you just did." I replied.
"You're wearing a cosmetic charm." Mum said. She waved her wand, and my hickey was revealed to everyone.
Draco ducked as Ron threw a curse at him. Draco drew his wand, and threw a hex back at him.
"No!" I yelled. I got in between them, "Stop this!" I yelled.
"Move, Ginny." Draco said.
"No! Quit fighting!"
"No. This is long overdue." He replied, "Move."
"I'm not moving, Draco. Stop fighting."
Ron shoved me out of the way, and shot a spell at Draco. Draco blocked the spell, and shot three back at him. Ron dropped to the floor.
Ron held up his wand, "Avada Kedavra!"
When I heard the Ava, I threw myself in front of Draco.
"No!" He screamed, throwing his hands up infront of him.
The curse stopped in mid air, stopped by Draco's wandless blocking spell.
Draco was panting, holding it still. He threw his hands up, and the Killing Curse hit the ceiling.
Draco glared daggers at Ron, "You son of a bitch, I'm going to kill you!"
Ron was wide eyed, "Ginny, I'm so sorry!" He said. He dropped his wand, and buried his fingers in his hair, "I- I don't know what happened..."
"You about fucking just killed her, you piece of shit!" Draco snarled, slugging Ron in the face.
Ron fell to his knees, holding his nose. Draco picked him up by his throat, and slammed him against the wall, choking him.
Ron gasped for air, "Wait! Wai-"
"You son of a bitch, if you ever pull something like that on her again, I will slit your fucking throat." Draco snarled, dropping Ron to the ground, and kicking him in the ribs.
Ron gasped, and rubbed his neck, and cradled his side.
Draco turned to me and pulled me into a tight hug, "Are you alright?" He asked.
"I... I-I'm ok." I said shakily, "You... how did you..."
"I don't know. I'm just so glad I did." He replied, hugging me closer. I leaned my cheek against his chest and closed my eyes.
I almost died. There would've been no more me. Draco would've become a Death Eater. Alex would be killed. It's kind of scary, how much me dying would change things.
When I opened my eyes, I saw my family staring at me. Ron was standing. His neck was bruised, and his nose was bleeding. He was clutching his ribs.
I released Draco and hugged my brother. Ron started sobbing, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me... I was so angry... I thought what I was about to do would help you... but it almost killed you..."
"It's ok, Ron. I know you didn't want to kill me. Or Draco. It was an accident." I said.
"It was... Ginny, I'm so sorry."
"I know, Ron."
"We need to get moving." Draco said, "They'll be here soon." He walked past Ron, "We can leave him here." He said.
"Draco." I said warningly.
"It's up to you. But I'd rather let him stay here and die."
"Draco..." I started. Then I stopped, "We'll talk later."
"Oh, definitely." He said haughtily.
I sighed, and grabbed my things before following him downstairs.
We were the only two in the room.
"Draco, please don't be this way towards him. He didn't know what he was doing, he acted out of anger-"
"Why are you making excuses for him? He almost killed you Ginny."
"I know, but that wasn't his intention."
"Oh, I know. His intention was to kill me. Because that's so much better."
"It isn't, Draco, you know I don't think that. He's not a bad person-"
"Oh really? He isn't? I am a bad person, Ginny. I've done bad things. Horrible things. But not once while we were fighting did I consider killing him! You try telling me he's not a bad person, Ginny!"
"He isn't, Draco! He did a bad thing! And you did think about killing him! Hell, Draco you nearly did!"
"Because he almost killed you!"
"But he didn't!"
"Why does that matter!"
"Because he's my brother! And I'm alive! I could just as well be dead and never see him again, Draco! He's my family!"
"Yes! He nearly killed you! He nearly ripped you away from your life, your friends, your family, from me! I almost lost you, Ginny, because of him!"
"Draco." I sighed, "He's sorry."
"So fucking what! You can accept his apology and keep chugging the fuck along like nothing ever happened, but I sure as hell won't!" He yelled.
"Draco, please don't be mad-"
"Oh, I'm not mad! Why would I be mad? I'm fucking ecstatic!" He yelled.
Alex came down the stairs, "Draco. We need to go."
Draco sighed, "Yeah. We have to make a port key." He said tensely.
The rest of my family came downstairs, glancing between Draco and I nervously.
"Er, we can use this boot as a port key." Dad said, holding up Fred's boot.
"Sure." Draco said, pulling out his wand and enchanting the boot, the boot glowed, then went back to normal.
"Alright then. It's ready." Draco said.
This chapters a bit wild! Hope you enjoy!
