Chapter 9: Heart Broken

While I was waiting outside for Harry, Romilda Vane walked up to me.

"Hey Ginny! Have a good holiday." She said enthusiastically.

"Yes, actually. I had a great Christmas!" I replied with the same enthusiasm. I was happy and I wasn't going to let anything ruin that, especially not Romilda Vane.

"That's good." She said with a fake smile. "I just wanted to say how cool I think it is that you don't get jealous of your boyfriend hanging out with his ex." She said. What's she on about?

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"Well I just saw Harry on the train with Cho and I just thought that it was really nice that you didn't stop him from talking to her."

Harry's with Cho? That's the 'important thing'? She's probably just lying.

"Doesn't your hair just get everywhere after travelling?" She said as she pulled a hair tie the from her backpack.

Why does that hair tie look so familiar? Wait that's my hair tie! That's my favourite hair tie, the one I gave to Harry.

"Where did you get that?" I asked her.

"Oh Harry gave it to me! Isn't it so cute." She said. "Well I'm going to go now. Bye!"

She left and I saw Harry coming out of the train and walking over to me.

"Ready to go?" He asked me.

"Were you just with Cho?" I asked him.

"Um... yeah?" He said.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Ginny we were just talking."

"In an empty compartment with the curtains closed?"

"Look me and Cho dated a long time. You can't just expect those feeling to just disappear."

"Okay fine! You and Cho dated, what about Vane?"

"What about her?" He asked me with a confused look.

"Did you give her me hair tie?"

Silence. Nothing. 'I felt my heart shatter into a billion pieces.' I always thought that expression was weird, but right now that was the only way to explain what I was feeling.

"Gin..."

"You know I don't know what I was thinking." I said. "This is never going to work."

"This-" I said pointing between us, "-is over. In every type of way."

"Ginny please, let me explain-"

"You don't have to explain anything. See you around, Harry."

And with that, I walked away. Heartbroken.

Time passed pretty quickly that day. I barely paid attention to classes and avoided Harry all day.

I was walking by the lake when I felt someone behind me. I turned around and surely enough it was Harry.

"Just please let me apologise." He said. "I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have gone to Cho."

"Look Harry this was never going to workout anyway. I mean you wanted to make Cho jealous and that I wanted to avoid Dean. I'm pretty sure Cho's jealous and so is every other girl. Dean and I are on good terms."

"So that's what this is about, isn't it?" He said suddenly sounding angry. "it's that you're still in love with Dean, aren't you?"

"You're in love with Dean?" I heard a voice say from behind me. I turned around and saw Hermione and Luna standing there.

"Hermione..." but before I could say anything, she ran back into the castle. Luna followed her.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know she was there." Harry said, sounding genuinely sorry but I was mad so I blew up at him.

"Just leave me alone, alright!" I started running after Hermione.

I knew exactly where to find Hermione. I started running up the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. That's where me, Hermione and Luna would always go together.

Surely enough when I reached the top i saw Hermione and Luna sitting by the edge with their legs dangling.

"Hermione..." I started. "Hermione I'm sorry, but please just let me explain first."

"I don't think there's much to explain Ginny. I'm not mad at you for liking Dean, I'm mad at you for not telling me."

I went and sat down on Hermione's other side. I explained everything to her. The letters, the fake dating, the real dating, the break up... everything.

"Oh Ginny!" She said after I finished. She pulled me into a hug. "Let's make a promise, no more secrets between us girls, alright?" She said after she pulled back from the hug.

"Well if we're revealing secrets then I have something to tell you too." Luna said. "I sent the letters."

"I am going to kill you." I said calmly. After five seconds I attacked her but Hermione held me back.

"Ginny, give me the wand!" She said sternly. I handed over my wand. "Luna please explain why you did that?" She asked Luna.

"Well I saw the way Harry looked at Ginny and at first I thought it was the nargles but then I saw that it was love. I decided that Ginny was too scared to send the letters I had seen her write, so I did it for her."

"What about the rest of them? Why'd you send those?" I asked her.

"I thought if one didn't work you would have other options."

"I'm still going to kill you." I said.

"Look her heart was in the right place, her execution was just... bad. I forgave you so you should be able to forgive Luna."

"I'm sorry Ginny." Luna said with her puppy eyes.

"Fine."

Me, Hermione and Luna were walking back from lunch when I saw a bunch of people standing in front of the notice board. We walked through them to see what was wrong. I felt my heart stop when I saw what it was. It was a photo of the night me and Harry snogged by the lake. I knew exactly who did this.

Hermione ripped the photo off the board and I quickly walked away. as I was walking into someone. I looked up. Of course it was Harry.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He said concerned when he saw the tears in my eyes. I ignored him and kept walking. I heard Hermione hand him the photo and say, "fix this."

He opened the crumbled photo. "Listen! Nothing happened! And I better not hear anyone talk about this or Ginny Weasley!" He yelled.

He walked over to me. "I'll talk to her, okay?"

"No. I'm going to talk to her myself." I walked away.

I walked into the girls bathroom, burning with anger.

"How could you do this!?" I asked her.

"Do what?" Romilda replied innocently.

"I know you took the photo."

"I didn't." She said.

"Yes you did! How can you do this to another girl?"

"I didn't do it, but if you're so worried about it maybe don't have sex with someone on public property." She said that and walked out.

"How are you?" Hermione asked me.

"I'm great." I replied. We were in my dorm alone as it was Hogsmeade weekend and everyone had left. The girls decided to stay with me.

"Gin, I know what happened with you and Harry but he really is sorry you know." She said. "And I know for a fact you miss him."

"I don't. I don't miss him at all."

"Okay." She simply replied. "But I know he misses you."

"Yes I know he misses you too. The nargles told me and they never lie."

"Right." Hermione said. "Ginny I haven't seen Harry as happy as he was when he was dating you, ever. He's life's been hard, he doesn't understand love." She said.

"I've never seen you that happy either." Luna said. "You haven't been that happy since before Hogwarts."

"That's true." Hermione said. "If you don't mind me asking, why did you write those letters?"

"I guess... I guess I wrote them because maybe I thought one day one of those guys, or any guy in general, would write back." I said. "I wanted to be loved."

"But Harry did write back." Luna said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"What?"

She handed me a box. "You were always throwing them away with reading them so I decided they might come in handy one day."

I opened the box and it was filled with the notes Harry wrote to me... everyday.

I opened one and read it aloud, " 'Hey Weasley, you looked really pretty today.' " With a smile, I read another one, "'Did you know you have golden specks in your eyes? I think it's beautiful.' He's such a dork."

"'I know you think I'm a dork but I'm your dork!' It's like he read my mind." I felt my eyes tear up.

"Go and find him Ginny." Hermione said.

I didn't need to be told twice. I bolted out the room, but then realised that I didn't know where he was. Then it hit me!

Next one's the last chapter! This chapter was so fun to write. There was a lot of drama in this chapter. Also did anyone get the 'golden specks' reference?
