A day or two had gone by since the events of what happened at the knee of the Boiling Isles. Luz and King managed to teach Maxwell how to have fun in the snow a bit more when Maxwell used an elemental spell to produce snow with his hands. King taught him how to play in a snowball fight which he had quite a thrilling time with it. Luz taught him how people would make a snow angels when he created a blanket of snow in the ground that was big as a mattress, they even created a snow man but the snow man exploration was short lived as it would take no more than an hour for the snow to melt.

Maxwell definitely had a good time learning such an art. He even let out a thrilled yet mocking wise crack towards his own father about anything his father told him when he remembered his dad wouldn't let him play in the snow for the reasons he's stated before.

"I'm playing in the snow dad and I'm not listening! Try and stop me now!" Maxwell said in defiance directed at his dad.

The second day came along and Maxwell's mind was exploring possibilities and curious situations as the day of him going through his first day at Hexside was nearing. Going through a placement exam was what he was most curious about. He was standing in the living room but started to sit on the floor indian style with his hands on his knees and he had no idea that he was floating six feet in the air as his eyes were closed and it looked like he was doing yoga.

"Hey Maxie, is that yoga you're doing? Hoot hoot." asked Hooty curiously.

Maxwell was unresponsive as he was still floating in the air while it appeared he was thinking, deep in thought or possibly dreaming as it looked like he was doing all of the above.

"Maxie?" called Hooty again.

Maxwell was again unresponsive while Luz and King walked into the room. Both of them stopped and saw what was going on in front of them, seeing Maxwell levitating in the air in the position he was in and looking like he was at peace.

"King, do you see what I see?" asked Luz rhetorically.

"Maxie floating in the air in the living room?" King replied.

"I tried to get his attention and he's not responding." Hooty chimed in.

They watched Maxwell suddenly change position as his legs went down and so did his arms. He slowly floated down to the floor as he landed on his feet. He stood in front of them as they attempted to bring him out of his trance like state.

"Maxie, everything okay in there?" asked King.

Maxwell wasn't responding as it looked like he was sleeping while standing up but he clearly wasn't sleeping but in what looked like a trance like state or just in deep thought. Luz tried to get him out of his trance like state.

"Maxie?" said Luz.

Maxwell finally responded as he opened his eyes while his eye color was briefly the color of gold but turned back to it's natural blue color. He snapped back to reality.

"What did I miss?" asked Maxwell curiously.

Luz and King were both surprised to see that Maxwell treated this like it was nothing to worry about as if it was like his way of meditating.

"Maxie, what were you doing earlier? You were floating in the air and unresponsive." King described.

"What were you doing by the way?" asked Luz.

Maxwell started to look hesitant at first but knew that with him being with Eda, King, Luz, Hooty and other friends in the amount of time that passed, he knew that they were very understanding and compassionate about anything that bothered him, especially Luz.

"Luz, I've been thinking all day and how did the placement exam go for you when you started to attend Hexside?" asked Maxwell finally.

"I was nervous, I did have a couple of slip ups but I managed to demonstrate two spells and I got in. But I was nervous about messing up because I didn't make a good impression at my old school back in the human realm. But Eda assured me I'd have nothing to worry about." Luz explained attempting to reassure Maxwell.

"Eda did suggest to Luz to punch the first kid in class to establish dominance." giggled King.

"Oh King." said Luz smiling and giving King the naughty finger wave at him playfully.

Both Luz and King giggled at the mentioning of Eda telling her that while Maxwell was left curious and slightly worried if Luz really did what Eda advised.

"Did you?" asked Maxwell.

"Nope, but Eda only suggested it but she wasn't bothered when I declined on that." Luz revealed.

Maxwell let out a sigh of relief knowing that. He just couldn't imagine someone as sweet as Luz punching someone to establish dominance as he's grown so used to seeing her as the sweet, innocent young girl he's grown to know and love. Both King and Luz quickly caught on about why Maxwell asked about the placement exam.

"Maxie, are your nervous about the placement exam when you attend Hexside?" asked Luz.

He was silent at first.

"A little bit. I never done that before when it comes to a magic school. Which you and I are aware of how we get into human school back home, we just get registered by signing papers and that's it. But a magic school, you've done it before but I have yet to do that. I'm aware that we got to know two spells in order to get accepted, but I got no idea on how to even begin." said Maxwell expressing his worry.

Now Luz and King understood as it dawned onto them what Maxwell was thinking about and what was apparently on his mind. Him worried about the placement exam or the possibility he might not get accepted.

"Maxie, a lot of people are nervous at first but I know you'll do a lot better at it since you got more power in you and you clearly know more than two spells. If you're just as powerful as you've shown to be, than you're showing you are just as powerful as Eda." Luz kindly reassured.

Maxwell let out a loud hiccup, blushed deeply and looked hesitant to respond to the last thing that Luz said. Luz and King figured that maybe he was believing that Eda was more powerful.

"I don't think I'm as powerful as Eda." said Maxwell with a nervous chuckle.

"Now that you mention it. With Eda being the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, and with how powerful and strong you are with the power you've got. It does raise the question about if your just as powerful as Eda or if Eda's still more powerful. Hmmm." King explained.

"Sorry to say this but could we not have this conversation and move on? I don't really know how powerful I am with the power I've been given or if Eda is more powerful. I'd rather not prove that because it can create conflict between me and the most beautiful lady I've ever met. That, and I don't take titles away from people. The title of the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles belongs to Eda, not me. She's earned that title and I'm not taking that away from her. With every title that each person has, no matter how good it sounds, they've earned it fair and square, and I don't take that away from them." Maxwell told them kindly.

Hearing those words from Maxwell had Luz feeling a sense of pride or a sense of admiration towards him. The gentlemen aspect of him never failed to make her proud or to make anyone feel admiration from what he said. Luz went to him and pulled him in her arms to hug him, she gave him a firm yet gentle squeeze till a few minutes passed and she released her arms from him.

"Maxie, how you became a gentlemen and how you always remain one is still amazing." said Luz with a grin.

"I got my mother to thank for that." said Maxwell blushing.

"Well, even if your mom is, you know, and your dad wasn't a very good dad, you've got us. We won't let your dad take you away." said King showing compassion.

"I'm glad to know that." said Maxwell feeling comforted by such words.

"Just curious, we could suggest something for Maxwell to do when doing the placement exam. Any ideas?" asked King changing the subject.

Luz, King and Maxwell started to think for a minute or more but many ideas came to mind with a possible chance of them ether succeeding or failing. Luz knew that Maxwell was nervous about this but than a light was turned on in her head. There was something she remembered that Maxwell got high levels of confidence from.

"Maxie, you remember what it was that makes your nervousness or your fear disappear like how you teleport?" said Luz getting an idea.

Maxwell looked clueless at the moment. He didn't know what Luz was talking about as he would begin to think.

"My love for Eda?" said Maxwell giving an honest answer.

"That's one good answer, but what's the second thing that has the same affect?" asked Luz.

Maxwell was thinking harder while he started to think of a musical beat that was Japanese pop or American rock and roll. It didn't take long for a light to go on in his head. An idea forming.

"Música." Maxwell guessed.

"Correcta." Luz said with excitement. "You're a good singer and that's one of the things that makes you confident and toss fear out the window like it was a hand grenade about to go off."

"A bit of an unexpected analogy but I do get it." said Maxwell feeling a sense of confidence rising. "Will Eda come me, I mean us?"

"Someone say my name?" came Eda's voice.

They turned to see Eda enter the room as Maxwell's confidence had a laps for a minute. He was left blushing and feeling like he was a bit hesitant about something.

"Were you eavesdropping?" said Hooty jokingly.

"No!" said Eda starting to smile. "Yes."

Eda let out a chuckle as she walked in the room while Maxwell tried to remain calm and cool but on the inside, he was nervous about asking Eda if she could go with them to the placement exam for support or wondering how much of the conversation she heard.

"Eda, how much of the conversation did you hear?" asked Luz curiously.

"All I heard was Maxie asking about me going with him. To be honest, I only passed by and heard that. Where does he want me to go with him to?" Eda replied.

King chuckled at the situation as he blushed and grinned.

"Maxie waxie's wanting to know if the love of his life would go with him to support him during the placement exam. Maybe you two could get smoochie with it." said King as he made a joke while laughing.

Maxwell blushed deeper and looked at his feet. Eda looked at King as he made jokes and made smooching sounds.

"King, do you want to know if you can fly?" asked Eda.

King managed to stop laughing enough to answer her.

"How far would I be able to fly? I can't fly." answered King.

"Keep joking like that and you'll find out how far I can throw you." warned Eda.

"Alright, alright. I'll stop." said King heeding the warning.

Maxwell was wide eyed from what Eda told King as he looked right at them.

"Would she really?" Maxwell began.

"Nope. I only gave him that warning just to get him to stop poking jokes at the situation. The worst I'd do is tickle torture him or sick Luz on him with as much cuddly snuggles she can give him." chuckled Eda.

King went silent as he didn't mind hugging and snuggling at times but the way Eda would hug or snuggle him had him feeling a bit hesitant or horrifying, especially the tickle torture. King shook from the thought of it and focused on something else.

"So Maxie wants me to go with him when he goes through the placement exam, huh?" said Eda with a grin.

Maxwell blushed a bit deeper but knew that she could see right through him as he knew Eda admitted that she heard him saying what she just mentioned.

"I wanted to ask but I also didn't want to be a bother if you were busy with anything." said Maxwell nervously.

Eda knew that he wanted her to go with him for support but also because of how he feels towards her. Her heart pumped a bit faster from the fact that Maxwell desired for her to go with him for the reasons stated.

"Trust me, Maxie. I went with Luz when she was going through the placement exam when she got accepted into Hexside, if I did that for her, than I'm doing that for you too." said Eda proudly.

Hearing Eda tell him this had Maxwell feeling his nervousness disappear while Eda reached out to place her hand on Maxwell's right cheek. Even her gesture had him blushing.

"Really?" said Maxwell full of hope.

"You bet I am!" Eda replied. "Besides, if anyone gives you a hard time, than they'll find out how far my boot will go up their keisters."

Maxwell let out a loud but surprised cough as if trying to hide a laugh. Eda smiled and was quick to notice this.

"Maxie's laughing." Eda playfully teased.

"No I'm not." said Maxwell trying to choke down his laughter.

Without warning, a very loud fart was heard in the room. Everyone went silent and blushed.

"Seriously, who farted?" giggled Hooty. "Was that you, Luz?"

"That wasn't Luz." King chimed in.

Everyone in the room chuckled and so did King. They all knew that tomorrow was going to be a big day for them all, even Maxwell. Maxwell had an idea on how to nail the placement exam at Hexside but even if he felt nervous, he felt at ease knowing that Eda, King and Luz would be there to root for him. He was glad that Eda would be there with him as his heart raced faster because of it.
