AN: What I mean by 'Similar to a Muscle' is that while you never can't use it, if you're more tired it's more difficult to control and it limits the variety of the things you can do. Also updates will be slower cuz this is the last week of my school's grading period and I have work to do. As for the Profile and the vague Strenth, Power, etc. It's because I don't want y'all to know exactly how powerful they are, just a close approximation.
Three days later:
Avi had finished teaching Emma the basics of momentum and how best to run away, avoid damage, get out of choke holds, and hurt people fast. Unfortunately he couldn't teach her martial arts itself in such a short period of time, however Emma had shown alarming passion and a willingness to learn. She surpassed his expectations over and over again.
As for F.B., recently he had been much more relaxed than usual. F.B. had been watching over some girl he saved. Avi knew what happened. Honestly F.B. was probably the biggest threat to Avi.
'Against my better judgement, let's hope that the Queen can actually send me back. If not…' Avi scowled.
He had finished packing all of his supplies for the trip. As he was walking in the hallways he passed Hoka. As always Hoka seemed to not have a care in the world.
"Hoka, wait up." Hoka turned and looked at him expectantly.
"Where are you going?" Avi asked.
"Oh, I was summoned by the queen. What about you?"
"Wherever the wind takes me." Though he said this, Avi knew exactly where he was going. He wanted to build his reputation, what better way to do that among the people other than help those in suffering. He didn't want to antagonize the nobles of the area so he chose to visit a place where everyone was struggling as a whole.
"Ight," Hoka turned around but Avi stopped him again.
"Watch out for Malty. She's like my mom."
"I know, she gave me bad vibes too. Did you know that nobles in Isekai, especially the princes and princesses, are almost always assholes?" He faltered, "Wait what was that last part?" Hoka was confused.
"Oh… um… nothing. Just be careful."
"I'll be fine. Thanks though."
"Yeah, no problem." With that the two went in opposite directions.
'Wow, it's a nice day today.' Avi bent his knees, and jumped, only he never came down. Avi had mastered flight.
Hoka entered the large chamber while whistling a cheery tune. Alberic was behind the door, eying him fiercely, as if daring him to be disrespectful. Hoka knew people like Alberic, they were always satisfying to beat into the ground. The Queen greeted him. Next to her was one of the most beautiful people Hoka had ever laid eyes on. He remembered her from the introduction at the beginning.
"Hoka, this is my daughter. Please accept her into your party." Although it sounded more like an order rather than a request.
The girl had soft features, incredibly delicate and adorable. Her hair was wavy and semi-crimson and she seemed impossibly gorgeous.
Malty innocently fluttered her eyelashes at him, 'Score! I've got him!' She dealt with lust on a daily basis and could recognize it anywhere. And she never had come across anyone who could resist her charms.
Hoka was flustered, he had never met someone so breathtaking.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Fortunately Hoka had years of practice acting normal.
"Hey! I'm Malty, I didn't know that the hero was not only powerful, but handsome too." She playfully poked his chest.
The Queen suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. Hoka seemed to be deep in thought about something, his intuition was telling him something was off.
'Let's just go with the flow and see where we end up.' Hoka slowly smiled.
Malty mistook his smile for a different reason and continued to flatter him, 'It's working! Ha, no man can resist my charm.'
'Hoka's willingness to dive into trouble just for a moment of fun would lead to some rather serious consequences in the future. But at the same time without that trait he wouldn't be half as effective as he is now. I just hope he can control Malty.' The Queen thought to herself before deciding to give them some time to get to know each other.
Malty followed Hoka to his room, bouncing after him like a puppy. Hoka didn't really know how to react to the almost aggressive way Malty talked to him. He wasn't bad looking by any means, but in Hoka's life women and beauty were the last things from his mind. Malty purposely added a sultry undertone to her voice, while at the same time acting as cute as possible.
"So, what have you done in the time you've been here?" Malty smiled, her plan had been set in motion.
F.B. silently watched them, he had run into them on his way to the girls hospital room.
'He'll be fine, Hoka isn't the type to be tricked by people like her. If anything happens, it'll be Malty who suffers.' And while that observation F.B. turned from them and continued on his way.
Emma was busy training in the courtyard. She was in the middle of the square platform, going through various movements and exercising. The courtyard was surrounded by open hallways, with a ceiling supported by marble pillars. In the shade of a pillar were three men. The one in the front wore long and colorful robes, whilst the two behind him wore white robes. They inspected Emma meticulously, disdain obvious in their expressions. Emma took out two of her cards and stopped moving. She held eye contact with the one in the middle until he eventually looked away uncomfortably. He cleared his throat and swept his robes, before going to walk away, not even acknowledging Emma. The two men behind him followed like puppets.
"Fucker." Emma muttered.
Emma was by far the most normal of the heroes, which gave her an odd personality of being mercifully merciless. She was normal, yes, but she also knew when trouble was coming.
'The first wave hasn't even arrived yet and I already gotta deal with internal troubles? Goddamn it.' Emma sighed, and picked up her cards once again.
'Well, if they attack me, I'll murder them.' Hey, I said most normal. Not normal.
F.B. was reading next to the girl, he had checked out some books from the library. He didn't like going outside because people followed him and mobbed him. F.B. had been doing this every day for four hours, often napping nearby her. There were always healers on standby of course, but the girl was stabilized. She wasn't in danger of dying, and was relatively ok in general. While she did get treatments daily it would only be another day or two until she woke up. Even now she was shifting in her sleep.
It had only been an hour and Avi was already in love with flying, which was definitely odd since he technically wasn't flying but was being carried. The air currents were cool, and it was an amazing experience. Avi was on his way to a poor area, so poor in fact that the noble family was living in a barn.
He was almost there when he caught a glimpse of a black shape sprinting away from the town. There was a very obvious glint of gold in his arms. Avi brought his body upside down, and created suppressed balls of air. Then he released them towards himself and shot downwards. Trees bent backwards and dirt flew in all directions as Avi slammed into the ground right in front of the burglar. As Avi slowly walked out of the small crater he called out.
"Oi."
The black clad thief fell backwards, a duffel bag fell out of their arms with various objects spilling out.
"Ah… It's not what it looks like."
By then Avi was right in front of him, "uh huh," and with that slammed his fist into the thieves shoulder. The thief spiraled backwards before hitting a tree. Avi picked up the bag and dragged the thief by the ankle and headed towards the village.
He heard the distraught cries from outside the village. As he entered through the gate the first thing he saw were lines of shabby homes, and a particularly shabby looking man outside one of the homes. He was going around asking the others, also shabby looking people, for help.
"I was stolen from! This was the fourth time this week! We can't keep going like this! Please! Help me!" Everyone looked tired and resigned. Then one of them saw Avi.
"Isn't that? Oh my god it is! It's the wind hero!"
"What?" "Hero?" "No way." "Why would a hero come here."
Avi stopped in front of the man, who had fallen to his knees. When Avi dropped the thief and the bag in front of him, he looked up at him with desperation in his eyes. Avi took his hand and pulled him up. After brushing him off he looked him in the eyes and said,
"Tell me everything."
Avi was sitting at a creaky, unbalanced table inside a small two room home that was almost completely empty. In front of him was a man, who seemed both young and old, it was hard to tell due to the grease and dirt marring his face. But he was ranting, pacing back and forth, and waving his hands in the air. The gist was that their noble family was barely noble, and were extremely poor. The neighboring nobles were harassing them and the town couldn't get any help from the kingdom. Because of the lack of funds they couldn't have any defenses and were being robbed blind.
The man eventually stopped, he was tired.
"Anyways, the nobles will be here soon to talk to you."
"mm" Avi nodded, and then asked the man a question.
"Do you resent your noble family?"
A conflicted look came over the man's face, "... no… I'm disappointed but I understand. They're good people, and I know that if they could help then they would have. They've probably been suffering the most of us, so even though I'm living in this shack, I can't hate them."
Avi nodded, then stood up.
"Where are you going?" the man (George) asked, he was worried Avi would leave them.
"If they're the nobles, it's only right for me to go to them instead of the other way around." Avi smiled at him, "Don't worry, I won't leave you."
A couple minutes after Avi left, a woman entered the house through the back door. She was George's good friend.
"Do you think he can help us?" She wondered.
"Lucia… you know who you always say it's the little things that matter?"
"Yeah?" She didn't know where George was going with this.
"He… when we first met, he didn't kneel and go down to my level, instead he brought me up to him. He lifted me up, and gave me his hand doing so. Instead of capturing the thief, he could have killed the thief and taken my things. At that point he hadn't arrived so he could have easily gotten away with it. And when he left, he left to show respect to our nobles. Our nobles are the representatives of our town, and our town is anything but luxurious. So the fact that he still treats us with dignity despite the differences in our status makes me trust him. Do I think he can save us? I don't know, but if he can't, then no one can."
Lucia exhaled a breath of relief. Her lips spread into a soft smile, "It seems that God hasn't abandoned us yet."
Two Days Later:
Malty was walking down a dimly lit corridor in an unknown building. The walls were made of finely cut stones, and the floor was covered in a soft silk carpet. She entered alcove, with thick colored glass panes. In the windows were pictures of three heroes. Standing at the altar was a woman completely covered in white holy looking robes.
"I trust the plan is proceeding without issue?" the priestess spoke.
Malty rolled her eyes, she had spent the last two days flattering the flame hero, and he ate it all up. There was no way she was failing this.
"Who do you think I am. Of course, everything is fine. With this plan not only can I take out one hero, but two, and defame the entire group as a whole."
Both Malty and the priestess smiled, without the heroes they would gain a lot of power. If they were to be the ones to save the kingdoms from the invasions imagine the support they would gain. Malty was arrogant because everything was going perfectly for her. In her eyes there was no way she could fail. Though the church didn't know it, Malty was using them too.
'Hah… people are so stupid.'
Elsewhere:
F.B. looking at the floating screen in front of him, at first glance the things seemed pretty useless besides seeing progress, of course with him not caring about his progress, it was just a useless trinket to him, so only pure curiosity drove him to look at it.
And interestingly, floating next to [Level:] was the number 25, of course he hadn't gone hunting like Emma, he knew Avi had been training rather than hunting, and that Hoka had been out slaughtering monsters with his fox friend (who was slowly beginning to trust Hoka). However F.B. himself had not hunted monsters, so his investigation led him to the queen.
"Oh? You're already at level 25? Hmm, the only way that would be possible is if you killed a large number of humans, as humans are the only source of high exp around here, of course I can't see a hero running around killing people, so I wonder how you got to such a high level?" the Queen's voice was condescending, an obvious note of knowing in her voice but was vague enough that anyone eavesdropping wouldn't catch on. While that was the disguise, the actual reason why she did so was to avoid condemning and insulting F.B. while at the same time insulting him anyways.
Huffing but having his question answered F.B. walked away from the queen, moving aside as the queen's second daughter passed him, her face pale.
"M-mother...you don't th-"
"It's ok dear, if you must know, a group of people who have been rather hard to track down was cracked down on by our resident hero of water, it's nothing to worry yourself about." the Queen spoke to daughter as softly as she could get away with, knowing that such a topic would be hard for her daughter to stand, especially for how young she was. Melty was about to go on her first diplomatic journey, and didn't need anything to shake her up.
Watching her daughter walk away with lighter shoulders made the queen happy, but a sigh escaped her lips as she looked at the crystal ball, shadow, one of her best shadows had been following F.B. after he showed up with a girl that was obviously abused, the crystal ball showing F.B.'s efficient and brutal rampage through the brothel, his face cold as blood splattered about. It left a rumor in the air around the southern part of her kingdom, while it wasn't the poorest, it was the most...unkind area of her kingdom. Having the rumor of the red mist floating about relieved Marilla ever so slightly that hopefully the heroes she had summoned really were heroes. The only thing to be seen was if the same could be said for Hoka.
Like she did every day, Emma skipped along the dirt path. This time her eyes were trailing the invisible screen in front of her, the numbers 23 next to the word level. Her eyes shone as she looked at the unlocked section.
[Spell:Earthen Terrain. Unlocked!]
[Details-Earthen Terrain allows the user to create a large wave of solid earth, the affected area being flattened perfectly. This move will cost less mana then if the individual did it manually.]
Emma was loving it, the game-like aesthetic only making the experience better for her. She loved games, but in rural Wyoming she never really got to play much. Emma bent down, and a square beam of earth shot her upwards, grabbing a branch she broke her ascension and flipped upwards so she was standing on the branch. It was an impressive display of athleticism and gymnastics. Where she landed was really high up, and the rest of the forest was visible below her. Sitting down and stretching her legs over the branch she smiled.
"The sunset really is beautiful." The warmth washed over her and she closed her eyes, all of a sudden she felt her bracelet change. It wasn't a physical vibration or noise, it was more a,
'Something is different, look at it. Now.' And when Emma opened her eyes what she saw was a little window that said 'Profile'. She mentally touched it and it opened up.

'Hm… this is different than what I thought it would be.' Emma read it through. It was a bit confusing to her, but all she needed was time to adjust to it and to learn exactly what it meant.
"This is so much fun!" She stood up, still on the branch. By then the sun was about done setting. Emma raised her arms in the air,
"I'M GONNA BE THE BEST HERO EVER!" And then immediately crouched down, afraid someone would see her.
A lone goblin was stumbling through the forest, it was a wanderer. A goblin that had been banished from it's tribe, it had accidentally set its camp on fire. It felt rage, and didn't know where to go. All of a sudden a shadow covered the goblin. Confused, it looked upwards, before immediately being crushed.
"Oh fuck! What'd I fall on?" Emma didn't even want to look. All she had heard was a loud squishing sound, and then an explosion of liquid that absolutely drenched her. It smelled putrid. Emma slowly opened her eyes and looked down. Green intestines were strung from branches, and the blood had dyed everything in distance a sickly greenish grey hue. Groaning, Emma made her way back to the palace.
Hoka was getting party members extraordinarily fast. First he had the kitsune, Katsumi, who was slowly warming up to him. Although she often pretended to be mad at him. Later he would learn that it was because Katsumi had a deeply rooted fear of abandonment and loneliness, so she would pester Hoka and do anything she could to keep his attention on her. Then there was Malty, the perfect princess. She had all the knowledge so she was an amazing supporter and guide. After Malty was Rino. Malty had brought Rino in, apparently they came across each other by chance. Rino was a small-time adventurer, so her experience was helpful. Hoka liked Rino, she seemed really innocent and trusting, and he liked people trusting him. She was also very happy to help wherever she could. With these three by his side he felt satisfied. They weren't much of a help in battle, not yet at least. Hoka's battle style was one that was difficult to support and contribute to. So they just focused on keeping him from getting surrounded and healed him when they could.
"Let's move on guys!" They were currently out hunting, but Katsumi, Rino, and Malty were exhausted.
'I fucking hate him… what a maniac.' Malty thought, 'of all the heroes I'd get assigned to why'd it have to be this brainless brute.'
"Mr. Mosu, can we take a break?" Rino breathed heavily. Hoka knew that he was a tiring man, but he also loved combat, so he made a compromise.
"I'm gonna go alone. You all rest here and I'll be back in a couple hours."
This had happened before, and when he said a couple hours, he would never come back. So they had to follow the trail of limbs and find him. Rino and Katsumi didn't want Hoka to leave them, Rino because of concern, and Katsumi because she didn't want to be alone. Malty simply sat down.
"O-okay. Please come back soon." Rino said, she knew that she'd just be a burden if she pushed herself too hard.
"Why can't you just take a break for… I dunno… five minutes?" Katsumi rolled her eyes in exasperation.
Malty just smiled sweetly, "Have fun Mr. Mosu!" Internally she hoped he died.
'You'll be gone soon you bastard.' She laughed at Hoka in her mind.
Leaving the three of them, he made sure that they were in a safe area, and did a loop around to see if there were any monsters nearby. After that he walked deeper into the forest. All of a sudden two dire wolves shot out from the darkness, teeth aiming for his neck. Hoka smashed his fist into the closest wolf's snout. It's head exploded, and blood doused the tree behind it. He then grabbed the second one by the neck and threw it at the body of the first. The snapping sound that ensured assured him that it's back was broken. 10 more dire wolves appeared from all directions, snarling at him. Hoka began to laugh again, he crouched down in a semi sprinting position. Fire burst within his closed fists, spilling out in concentrated streams from the cracks in his fingers.
"How enjoyable." Hoka chuckled. And then he let go.
F.B. looked over to the bed next to him, the sound of whimpering coming from the now awake girl, with a quiet sigh he reached over to the panicking girl before pulling off her blindfold, her eyes were dazed as the red rings swiveled about before landing on him. And for the first time in a long long time, F.B. truly smiled.
"Glad to see you are awake."
