Chapter 6: The memories live on
It was now sunset at the seaside, the island's spring was no longer there, all that was left were a gigantic crater in the mountain, the remains of the destroyed Team Rocket headquarters, and the evil group themselves waking up as they realized their situation. "Mmmph...what the…? What happened…? Where did the lake go? Where are Mew and Mewtwo!?" Giovanni moaned as he got up, standing on the wreckage of his aircraft, "Mrow…" Persian woke up as well. Jessie, James, and Meowth were struggling to piece everything together, "Ohhhh...I had a dream last night where we won…" James groaned, "It felt so real…" Jessie added, "It was the best thing to ever happen to us…" Meowth also said as he looked up at the golden sky, "Wobba?" Wobbuffet confusedly said. Agent 009 tried looking in her X-Ray binocular to detect Mewtwo, but the sensors found no trace of it even existing. "I...I can't find Mewtwo anywhere!" The spy said, worried. "No…" Giovanni couldn't believe what happened, "I can't believe it... Mewtwo defeated me...AGAAAAAIIIIN!".
"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu woke up Ash, who found himself in a cave with everyone else. "Mph...huh…?" He got up and saw everyone else, including Mew and Mewtwo, standing on the edge of a cliff that leads down to a gigantic body of water with the rest of the Pokemon swimming in it. "Wow…" Ash gazed in amazement, and soon, everyone else noticed him. "Hey! Ash is awake!" Misty announced, "Togi!" Togepi added. While Ash reunited with his friends, Mew and Mewtwo took notice and looked back at them. "Ah...I see you are finally awake…" Mewtwo responded, "We have moved the spring underground within the mountain itself, getting rid of the pollution in the water, and restoring the spring, it will remain safe here, away from those who wish to taint it", "Mew!" Mew happily exclaimed. "How beautiful…" Luna said as she admired the new lake. "Wait until I tell Professor Oak about this!" Ash exclaimed. "Oh...no...you won't be telling anyone about this" Mewtwo replied, "...me and Mew will be wiping out your memories again…" "Mew…" Mew agreed. "Huh!?" Everyone exclaimed, "Wait! No! You can't do that!" Brock argued, "How will wiping out our memories make anything better!?" Cullen added. "I agree" Ash replied, "Now that we remember it, the time we first met on New Island was one of the most important events of my life, there's no way we can just forget about it. I'd rather look back on the memories we have now, as because of them and us meeting again, we can finally be friends, and look back on you, as someone who learned the errors of their ways, and fixed everything.". Mewtwo and Mew looked at each other, before nodding their heads. "You're right Ash... wiping out your memories will not do any good...it is simply best to learn from our mistakes, and move on...instead...I will only remove the memories of those who wish to destroy us…".
Back on top of the mountain, a light formed all over the ground that began to engulf Team Rocket. Everyone panicked, being lifted into the air, when suddenly, they saw Mewtwo's face with its menacing glowing eyes glaring right at them as its telepathy voice echoed throughout the mountain. "You...you are the ones who created me...but as my creators, you have had no good influence on me...everything bad that has ever happened to me has been your fault...I hate you more than anything else in this world…". Giovanni could feel himself sweating, he no longer felt powerful over Mewtwo, he was now afraid of the almighty powerful science experiment. "Mewtwo! Please! I beg of you! Have mercy on me!" The man screamed with fear. "My friends will get to live on to cherish the memories they've had of me...but for you...you will be the ones to forget of my existence…" Mewtwo echoed to them, and they continued to scream as they were engulfed by the blinding light.
Team Rocket woke up to find themselves in a junkyard of some sort. "Huh…? What just happened?" Giovanni was confused. Jessie, James, and Meowth were struggling to remember. "The last thing I remember is...those twerps...and their Pikachu…" Jessie groaned. "We won...but something defeated us…" Giovanni continued, then he glared over at Agent 009, "009...you have wasted my time once again...you are demoted…". "W-what!?" The spy was shocked. Giovanni continued on, feeling annoyed, "I am sick and tired of you annoying me over and over again, wasting my time...don't even bother me, again, I will not listen to your advice, no matter what you have…", "raaawr…" Persian groaned. Agent 009 felt herself falling to her knees, about to cry. Giovanni then looked over at Jessie, James, and Meowth, "As for you idiots…". "Gaaah!" The trio were afraid of whatever possible punishment they were about to receive. However, Giovanni didn't seem too upset with them, "I see why you three struggle against those three and their Pikachu…" he said, leaving the trio to collapse in relief.
Back on the island, Ash and his friends stood on a cliffside as they watched Mewtwo and Mew fly off with their Pokemon being whisked away with the two's powers to live on with their own lives. The group waved the two and their Pokemon goodbye, "Goodbye Mewtwo! Goodbye Mew! I'm glad we finally got to meet again!" Ash called out, "Pikaaaaaa!" Pikachu happily waves as well. "Farewell Ash...I will always remember you…" Mewtwo had its last words echo in the minds of Ash and his friends, as it and Mew flew away, going about separate ways, now forever free.
