Chapter 10- Aftermath
Several months before in Animacity
"So what's the situation here Mayor Rose?" Michiru asked, Mayor Rose had asked Shirou, Michiru and Nazuna to come see her immediately because she had news. None of them knew what it was but were still curious, assuming something bad had happened.
"Oh nothing actually, but it is good news." Mayor Rose turned smiling, making Michiru tiredly sigh.
"You really made it sound like it was the end of the world…" Michiru crossed her arms, making Nazuna giggle beside her.
"Well maybe to the anti-beastman." The trio looked at the Mayor with raised eyebrows, even Kuro turned his head in confusion.
"Our first human citizens of Animacity will arrive later today, they so far include families that support beastman equality and others that volunteered."
"Hey that's incredible, I didn't think it would be this soon!" Nazuna excitedly said.
"Yeah, but how would the beastman react?" Shirou asked.
"That's in uncharted territory Ogami, but of course I've notified the city officials and the rest of Animacity. Some took it better than others after the Nirvasyl Syndrome event…"
"...But still, I'm taking precautions to make sure both sides adjust to one another at their own pace. That's why I would like the help of you three." Mayor Rose finished.
"It's not gonna be easy, but it'll be good to help anyway we can." Nazuna confidently said, Michiru nodding in agreement.
"I won't let another tragic event happen again here. We'll do what we can." Shirou said, Mayor Rose smiled to see the trio agreed without question.
"It's good that you've agreed, so let's start on assignments-" Mayor Rose couldn't finish when the lights started to flicker in the room, the group looked up to see the lights had gone out leaving the emergency power to come on.
"Huh what's going on?" Michiru asked, Mayor Rose attempted to call security but the lines were cut off.
"There's no connection, our phones aren't working." Nazuna checked her phone, showing it to the group while Shirou heard an explosion further down outside the room, taking the group by surprise.
"Stay here!" Shirou told the group as he ran out to investigate, when Shirou left the group they felt another explosion that made the ground shake. Michiru didn't want to wait any longer, she started to run to the door before while Kuro, Nazuna and Mayor Rose followed behind to stop her.
"Shirou!" Michiru yelled out, trying to find her friend but was quiet. She realized from the smell of smoke, she caught an idea. She cleared her mind, morphing her nose into a wolf snout to track the scent. It didn't take long to find Shirou and where the smoke came from, seeing Shirou trying to get wounded workers out of one of the hallway.
"Dammit Michiru I told you to stay where you were!" Shirou yelled, bur before he could say anything else he felt the ground rumble below him. He looked down to see the ground cracked but through the openings shined bright light.
"What the?!" Shirou could only push an injured worker out of the range of the falling ground, but Michiru jumped forward trying to save her friend, with Kuro right behind her.
"MICHIRU!" Nazuna yelled, seeing the bright light grow as it consumed Michiru, Kuro and Shirou within. As the light vanished, what disappeared were her friends and the ground that was below them, she stood there speechless beside Mayor Rose.
Nazuna got on her knees, tears flowing down her eyes as she both mourned and hoped her best friend was still alive. She had gotten her friend back and now lost her again, feeling responsible for not being able to save her.
By the time the power came back, Mayor Rose wasted no time to call for aid on her phone.
"Get me the chief and send out search parties, we need to find Shirou and Michiru!"
Nighttime in Musutafu
Michiru and Shirou had quickly awoken, recovering from the blast they were in but were surprised to see themselves alive. Kuro shook his head and flew onto Shirou's shoulder while the duo checked their surroundings, clueless on where they were.
"Wait, where are we?" Michiru asked, hoping to see if they were still in Animacity.
"The better question is, how are we not dead?" Shirou tried to call Mayor Rose from his phone but to his surprise, the phones weren't working. The two grew more worried, with the phones not working they had no way to contact anyone which meant they were on their own.
Shirou noticed the damaged alleyway they were in, realizing it was an explosion that burnt and damaged the buildings just as the one they were previously in.
'What the hell happened here?' Shirou thought.
"There you are you criminals!" The duo heard the shouts of a man further above them, seeing someone in some kind of a costume as his arms seemed to stretch towards them.
That was when Michiru woke back up to reality, breathing heavily from events that she relieved from months ago. She checked her surroundings and hoped she didn't wake up Kuro or Shirou, but placed her hand on her face trying to reassure herself.
'It's ok… it's ok Michiru… it was just a dream… it was just a dream.' Michiru checked the clock beside her to see it was 3am, with only a few hours before she had to leave for school. She tried to lay back down again, hoping she could fall asleep and not relive the same dream again before getting ready for school.
By the time those of Class 1A arrived they were waiting till class had started, talking about what the recent turn of events had occurred.
"Hey did anyone else watch the news last night?" Yoarashi asked the group joyfully, receiving a few nods.
"Yeah it was nice we got some screen time Yoarashi, we're basically celebrities now!" Kirishima said.
"I know right, the news channels are all talking about us!" Kaminari relaxed back on chair agreeing with Kirishima.
"Well of course, we're in the hero course." Michiru pointed out from her desk, lifting her head up from her short nap after struggling to go back to sleep during the night.
"You got a point, since we're training to become pros and we did get attacked it does bring out attention." Jiro said while curling her long earlobe jacks.
"But still imagine what could've happened though if the teachers didn't show up." Sero wondered, receiving a couple concerned looks that showed they preferred not to think of it.
"It's a good thing they did, who knows what could've happened without their help ribbit." Asui wondered as well.
"Are we all forgetting about Ginrou and All Might though? Didn't you see how badass those two were against that bird guy?" Sato excitedly said, after watching the two heroes work together during the USJ attack he was not only impressed but amazed.
"Those two were destroying that guy and were fast as hell, they even punched him so hard they launched him out like it was a home run at a baseball game!" Sato began to throw air punches, with Tokoyami nodding beside him.
"To have such abilities is indeed incredible Sato." Tokoyami calmly said.
"But to see pros work together like that is amazing though, just imagine what we can learn from pros like them!" Yoarashi said grinning.
By the time Yoarashi finished talking, the clock struck the time for class to begin as Iida speed walked towards the front of the classroom.
"Home room class is about to begin, everyone take their seats!" Iida confidently said, when he realized something as he looked back at the class.
"Umm dude, were all in our seats except you." Kirishima said, making Iida stubbornly sit back down while Uraraka and Koda gave him concerned looks.
"Hey wait who's gonna be in class since Mr. Aizawa is still at the hospital?"
"Oh yeah that's right, I wonder who we are gonna get to teach us today…"
"Yeah hopefully it's Present Mic, it's pretty chill having him in our class."
Once class had started the doors to the classroom had opened. Mr. Aizawa had entered covered in bandages across his arms as they were wrapped together, his face was also covered in bandages with only his being shown.
"Morning…" Mr. Aizawa tiredly said as he entered the room, walking towards his desk.
"Mr. Aizawa?! What are you doing here?!" Most of the class said, completely speechless of their teacher still arriving for school.
"I'm here to continue my job as your teacher, there's no rest for pro heroes like me, even so I shouldn't let a few injuries stop me." Some of the class were impressed with their teacher pulling through while others still wondered if their teacher was even ok when he said a few injuries.
"Besides, just like me…your fight isn't over yet." The class had surprised faces, each completely confused about what their teacher meant.
'Wait don't tell me…'
'Not again…'
'More villains?!'
'Hell no with this!'
"The UA sports festival is about to start." The class immediately felt relief after their teacher gave better news than what they expected.
'Don't scare us like that!'
"Yes! Finally the Sports Festival!" Yoarashi yelled excitedly, with Kirishima following behind him.
"Let's go kick some ass-" Kirishima was cut off when Kaminari blocked his mouth so he could speak.
"Wait hold on, what about the attack on the USJ? Won't the villains be able to do the same thing twice?"
"The administration believes that continuing with the Sports Festival let's the public believe that the threat has been handled, plus security has increased. Besides, canceling the festival would take away your biggest opportunities to become pro heroes." Mr. Aizawa explained, but Michiru was unaware of there being a Sports Festival as she raised her hand.
"So excuse me for not knowing but what is the Sports Festival anyway?" Some of the class turned towards the Tanuki with surprised faces, even Todoroki raised an eyebrow at her.
"Wait you've never heard of the Sports Festival Kagemori?" Midoriya asked, Michiru became embarrassed for being the only one in the class to not know of the Festival.
"Well…no but sure I've heard a couple things about from junior high but I've never really known what it was specifically."
"There is no harm in knowing many details Kagemori. Think of it as the Olympics, one of the most watched events in the world. It's where students from UA compete using their abilities in order to win. For anyone who cares about competition, the Sports Festival is the one tournament that matters." Mr. Aizawa specified the details of the event, Michiru started to understand it better while some of the class spoke of it as well.
"He's right, Kagemori. Many pro heroes watch the games in hopes of finding students with potential." Yaoyorozu explained.
"Yeah! Some pro heroes watch the tournament for a chance to scout out students like us in the hero course." Kaminari added.
"Huh, so since the Festival is around the corner we get the possibility to work alongside heroes." Michiru began to think. She had worked alongside Shirou back in Animacity so she had experience but to work with another pro hero could be different for her.
"It is true, working alongside heroes can help you gain experience and popularity. That's why the Sports Festival vital, if you wanna be a pro then this will open a path for you."
"Which means you shouldn't slake off during training, I expect you all to work hard." Mr. Aizawa finished.
"Yes sir!" The class said together, as Mr. Aizawa dismissed the class.
Lunchtime
Before the class was about to leave some were discussing the upcoming Sports Festival, all thrilled for the experience of such an event.
"Now this is what I've been waiting for ever since I came here!" Sato tightened his fist, smiling with confidence.
"It's not gonna be easy but it'll be worth our while." Shoji said, with Tokoyami nodding in agreement.
"I can't believe that it's already around the corner though, I've always seen it on TV but to think people will be watching us this time will be nerve racking though." Kaminari said.
"Come on it's an honor to be in the Sports Festival, we should make the most of it!" Yoarashi said, startling Koda beside him slightly as he turned toward him.
"Right?!" Koda frantically nodded agreeing with the boy.
"Sheesh you always this hectic?" Sero asked.
"What are you talking about? I'm just pumped for the games!" Kirishima approached Yoarashi, placing his hand on his shoulder smiling.
"Couldn't agree more with my man here." While the group continued to talk, others of Class 1A discussed the same topic as well.
"Huh, I didn't think this Sports Festival was even a big deal…" Michiru awkwardly said, looking back at the guys talking while she stood beside Yaoyorozu
"Well, students from UA get the chance to show their skills. Pro heroes from all over come to watch for a chance to scout out future heroes." Yaoyorozu said.
"Still kinda surprising you didn't know what it was." Jiro wondered, making Michiru embarrassed with even Shoji raising an eyebrow.
"Well in my defense I was raised in the countryside for a while until I moved here so I guess I'm behind." Michiru tried to make an excuse as she looked away.
"I suppose that's a fair point." Shoji said.
"Then we'll just have to get you caught up Kagemori." Yaoyorozu confidently said, making Michiru hopefully think that she was just referring to the Sports Festival.
"Everyone…. I'm gonna do my best!" Uraraka's tone had quickly turned as she yelled out to the class. Her face gave off the same vibe Michiru used to see in Shirou which almost made it weird for her to see.
"Yeah!"
"I said I'm gonna do my best!"
Some of the class yelled in joy and good luck for their friend but slowly got awkward as she turned towards the rest of the group showing a dark and determined face. She continued to yell confidently a few times until the mood finally went away, with the Class finally left for lunch.
As the Class went to their usual tables in lunch, Michiru sat with the same group as before. The group seemed a bit quiet but tried to talk about a few topics, but one of the things on their mind was the other students that seemed to eye them.
"Does anyone else feel like the vibe changed in school." Mina asked the group while they were eating at lunch, she noticed that some students were watching them and talking behind their backs but was unsure why.
"It kinda feels that way, feels like we got eyes on us everywhere we go." Jiro said, Koda nodded noticing the same thing.
"Well we did survive the villain attack so that might be the case." Michiru noted as she took a bite from her rice bowl.
"Then why are they looking at us like we did something wrong though it's kinda bothering me…" Ojiro said with a concerned look.
"It's just what Kagemori said, we were face to face with villains and beat them up easily. I bet they're jealous of us getting experience, right Kagemori?" Sato asked Michiru.
"Well Sato-" Before Michiru could answer, the announcements had come on from the speaker in the cafeteria.
"Michiru Kagemori please report to the Principal's Office." Michiru and the group were surprised that the principal would want to see her but the reason made them unsure.
"Wait Principal Nezu wants to see you?" Mina asked, Michiru shook in confusion.
"I wonder what for though?" Hagakure wondered.
"Hopefully you're not in trouble." Ojiro mentioned, making Michiru a bit nervous which caught Ojiro's attention as he immediately apologized.
Michiru said goodbye to her classmates as she walked down the halls of UA towards the office, by the time she had arrived she was just outside the door.
'Ok last thing I needed was to feel like I got in trouble… why would Principal Nezu need to talk to me?' Michiru knew Principal Nezu had known about her past but knew that wasn't the case of him calling her here.
She decided to find out as she knocked on the door, hearing a male voice issuing her to come in. But as she opened the door she realized the voice wasn't from a joyful mouse/bear but it was from another teacher.
She realized the only people in the room were Midoriya, Shirou and All Might who was in his skinny form. Midoriya was sitting on one side of the room on a couch with the two heroes sitting across from them, she seemed rather surprised to see the group all together again after what had happened a couple days before.
"Wait Shirou? All Might? Midoriya? Where's Principal Nezu?"
"He's not here, I asked him to send you here instead of me." All Might said.
"Wait why?"
"That was to make sure the students didn't get too curious, I pulled Midoriya out just as lunch started and had Nezu call you here a bit later to not attract anyone." All Might explained, grabbing one of the filled cups of tea on the coffee table in front of him.
"Is this about what happened at the USJ?" Michiru asked, as she caught on with one of the upcoming topics they were needing to discuss.
"Yeah but that's not all, I've been meaning to tell you something Michiru." Shirou said, issuing her to sit beside Midoriya as the boy shuffled aside to give the girl room to sit.
Midoriya joined All Might earlier to speak personally, talking about the Sports Festival and One For All just before Shirou arrived.
Of course after the recent events at the USJ the two heroes needed to get some things off their chest to the two students. After Shirou brought up his first topic, Michiru got on the edge of her seat, almost spilling her tea on accident.
"Wait, you're gonna be a teacher here?" Michiru was speechless, Shirou had spoken to Principal Nezu following the incident, after he explained what had almost happened to Midoriya as well the Principal made a request for the hero to join UA's staff.
"Yeah, after Principal Nezu asked me to teach here I told him I would help." Shirou said, taking a sip from his green tea.
"But, do you even know how to teach?" Michiru asked, making Shirou stop drinking his tea.
"You do realize I've lived all the way from the Ancient Age all the way through the two World Wars to present day." Michiru rubbed her head after realizing that, but she figured after Shirou became Ginrou he would've been focused on fighting to protect the beastman.
"Well you could teach history then, or what about languages? But you're such a skilled hero shouldn't you be best to teach in training…" Midoriya began to mumble to himself again, trying to help Shirou find a good way to be a teacher. But he didn't realize that he was starting to weird out the group while they stared at him confused.
"Hey kid, your mumbling again!" All Might almost yelled, taking Midoriya by surprise as he bowed trying to apologize.
"Those are some good suggestions Midoriya I appreciate it, but Nezu thinks my best bet would be physical training." Shirou calmly stated.
"But that's not the only thing we wanted to talk about." Shirou finished.
"Midoriya, back at the USJ you blacked out because you lost a lot of blood from your wounds. This forced Michiru to donate her own in order to save you." All Might said, looking each at the two students.
"But after Shirou explained to me about the further details of Michiru's cause of her powers, it's possible that you could become a beastman." Midoriya got up immediately, worried as countless questions filled his brain.
"Wait what?! Is that bad?!"
"We're not sure if that's the case, apparently Michiru got her powers from a blood transfusion. But to put it in simpler details, the transfusion contained a in the testing drug that had contained the beast factor, a few days later after receiving the transfusion her DNA mutated and turned her into beastman…"
"We need to face the possibility that you could become a beastman, but the question is when and how to respond to it." All Might placed his hand on his chin thinking.
"Just say it's a dual quirk, I mean didn't you say that when you gave One For All to Midoriya people thought he got his quirk late?" Shirou suggested, All Might came to a realization about it and chuckled.
"Oh yeah you're right, we could say that Shirou."
"But still, if Midoriya could become a beastman like me shouldn't he not go to the Festival?" Michiru asked the two heroes, Midoriya nodding in agreement.
"It would attract too much attention, if what Shirou said was true about what happened to you it shouldn't be bad." Midoriya sighed in relief, he was still worried about turning into a beastman at any moment but at least he would be ok. That was when something came into his mind and got up from his chair.
"Wait what about One For All?"
"The Beast Factor shouldn't negatively affect One For All but it may bind with it." The group grew curious about what All Might meant by the beast factor bonding with the quirk.
"Wait what do you mean All Might?" Midoriya aske, before All Might spoke he checked the time and realized lunch was just about over.
"A story for another time, but don't worry. For now you two should focus on the Sports Festival, it's just around the corner and I suggest you two start training now." All Might stood up, prepared to issue the two students to head back for lunch.
"After all, this is something that everyone will watch. Now you two better get going before your class gets worried." The two students were guided out by All Might, both saying goodbye as the door closed behind them, leaving All Might and Shirou in the room.
"You're worried, aren't you?" Shirou calmly asked All Might who still stood by the door.
All Might sighed and placed his hand in his pocket, turning around towards Shirou and replied.
"I'm worried that Midoriya may push himself too hard for the festival, more importantly I'm concerned that he may have to train even harder if he does become a beastman."
"Don't worry, it's not like there's a limit or any weaknesses if he becomes a beastman. It'll just come easy to him over time just like it did for Michiru." Shirou stood up and approached the Symbol of Peace, placing his hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry All Might, if it comes down to it I'll make sure Michiru and I help him." All Might gave a small smile after Shirou reassured him, nodding.
"Thank you Shirou, I owe you for everything you did and that you're willing to do. You have no idea."
The two heroes eventually left the room and went their separate ways, knowing now they have shared secrets that they must keep but trust that they've gained in one another. Each guiding a student who would soon follow down their footsteps, towards the path of a hero.
Later on in the day school proceeded as normal with no issues. After school had finished Class 1A prepared to leave, anxious to get home and prepare for the Festival when they were met by an unlikely crowd of visitors.
The moment they opened the door to leave, their exit was blocked by a crowd of UA students all coming from the different courses, taking the class by surprise.
"Woah what's going on? Why are there so many people here?" Uraraka wondered, Midoriya and Iida had the same confused looks as she did as well.
"Excuse me, do you have business with our class?" Iida attempted to ask the large group, getting no response while some of Class 1A approached the entrance.
"What's the deal? I knew we faced off against villains but are we popular or what?" Yoarashi curiously said, crossing his arms.
"Then why are they giving us those looks? And why are they blocking our exit?" Kaminari pointed out, getting slightly nervous.
"Their scouting out the competition idiots." Bakugo calmly said as he started to walk past his class and towards the door.
"It's just what baldy said, we fought against villains so they know we're the real deal."
"Huh?! Bald?!" Yoarashi said, becoming easily offended after what Bakugo said.
"I don't think he meant to say that to tease you man." Kirishima tried to reassure Yoarashi.
"At least you all know what future Pro Heroes look like, now get out of my way extras." Bakugo said.
"Bakugo please, you are going to make the class look bass towards the other students!" Iida stated, being taken by surprise by the boy's words.
"Kachaan you shouldn't be calling everyone that!" Midoriya said right beside Uraraka, but was left with no answer from the boy.
"So this is Class 1A huh?" Said a calm tone from the crowd as the unknown student approached the door entrance.
"I heard you guys were impressive but you just sound like an asshole." The voice came from a purple haired student, who looked as if he was emotionless or calm as he finally made it to the door entrance.
"Is everyone here delusional or is it just this guy?" Bakugo growled, with some of his classmates panicking in the background hoping Bakugo wouldn't blow anyone up.
"Not just him, but he's not delusional, more like a walking volcano." Michiru teasingly said without hesitation while she sat on her desk beside Jiro, trying to get the class out of the hole Bakugo was digging them in. Bakugo turned his head, glaring towards the Tanuki girl becoming more annoyed and frustrated with the people around him.
"Huh?! What did you say raccoon?!" Bakugo yelled, Midoriya and his group were panicking even more while some of the class became surprised that Michiru had the guts to call him out again.
"You know for the record I'm a Tanuki, dumbass."
"Who gives a shit!"
"At least someone in the hero course doesn't sound delusional." The boy looked over at the Tanuki girl who spoke in the corner and back at Bakugo who sneered at both students.
"You know I wanted to be in the hero course just like you guys, but like a lot of us here we were forced to choose a different path." The boy began to go one, leaving some of the students confused at first of what he was referring to until he got to the point.
"But we have a second chance, if some of us do well in the Sports Festival the teachers can decide to move us into the hero course. However, to do so they have to move some of the original hero course students out to make room." Some of the class gasped, shocked to hear that despite earning their place in the hero course, that there was still a chance for others to steal their spots. Even Michiru was taken by surprise, for the teachers to do such a thing would be unfair but she understood it both ways.
"So that means if even one person doesn't do well in this class I'll steal your spot from you easily." Bakugo scoffed and grew impatient about the boy, interrupting him before he could finish.
"So what the hell's your point?" Bakugo boldly interrupted the boy as he looked back with the same emotionless face.
"I'm just letting you know since you faced against villains, I expect that you give it your all, consider this a declaration of war." He fearlessly said as he walked back into the crowd, leaving behind a class with both shocked and confused thoughts.
'What is guys' deal? Where did he even come from?... not even a month in and we already got people gunning for our class.' Michiru grew tired of the recent turn of events, at this point she was just ready to leave like most of her class until they heard another bold voice shout in the crowd.
"Hey! I'm Tetsutetsu from class 1B and I came here to see if you guys actually fought villains! But all I see are a bunch of brats who think they're better!..." Michiru slapped her forehead, cursing under her breath with Jiro taking notice after seeing now almost all the school hates their class. While the class continued to stare at the yelling student, Bakugo began to walk away ignoring his taunts.
"Oi oi! I'm talking to you get back here!"
As Bakugo left, so did many of the students at their door, giving Class 1A a chance to leave the school. Despite the Sports Festival being around the corner, almost everyone in the class felt nervous about it. Knowing now that not only this is their best chance to show their potential as future heroes but also competition against their fellow classmates. This meant they all needed to work their hardest until the time came.
By the time Michiru got home she received a text from Shirou that he was on patrol and he took Kuro with him. After seeing this Michiru knew had the house to herself until then.
When she entered her room she dropped her bag beside her door, landing herself on the bed without even changing. She did what she could go back to sleep but after the flashback she had she couldn't, but she was tired now after today.
She groaned in exhaustion, nearly about to fall asleep when her phone started to vibrate beside her. Turning her head, she grabbed her phone to see it was a phone call from Ashido.
Right after the USJ incident, some of her class exchanged numbers so they could text or call one another. She recalled giving her contact to the girls, having them share hers with the rest of the guys since she didn't have time.
"Hello?" Michiru tiredly said.
"Kagemori you ok? You sound out of it." Ashido asked from the other side of the call.
"Yeah, just kinda tired is all but I'm fine." Michiru yawned a second after.
"Kk! But I actually wanted to call and see if you wanted to do something later with some of our classmates."
"You know since we deserve a break after the USJ." Michiru got interested in hanging out with her class, sitting up on her bed feeling a bit more awake from her excitement.
"That's actually a good idea Ashido! What did you have in mind?" Michiru smiled, Ashido realized that her friend was pretty interested and started to get into the topic.
"We haven't decided quite yet but so far a few people have confirmed but others said they were busy so all we need to do is meet somewhere." Michiru began to process what Ashido said until an idea came.
"Wait I know what we can do!" Michiru said excitedly.
"Really? What is it?" Ashido grew curious of her friend's idea, Michiru grinned and answered back.
"It's a secret, but I'll say this, get everyone that's coming to this address I'll meet you here!" Michiru typed in an address that was close to her house and shared it with her friend, after sending it Ashido answered back after researching it.
"Wait, this is to a basketball court. Ohhh we can all hang out and play basketball together!"
"Exactly!"
"Alright I'll let them know and check to see if anyone else wants to come!"
"Ok see you guys soon!" Michiru hung up the call as she grabbed her wallet and basketball, placing it on her bed, and getting some clothes she could change into for the hangout.
By the time she left the house she had on her red jacket, a black tank top and jean shorts. Since the court was in walking distance for her it was no trouble, by the time she got there she texted Ashido to let her know she was there.
After getting a reply that a few of their classmates are on their way, Michiru left her jacket and her bag across the court on a bench. Walking back up to the hoop with the basketball underneath her arm.
She started to dribble the ball and got into shooting position, jumping and curling her hand as she shot the ball forward. The ball went in the hoop almost perfectly, hitting the wall of the hoop and landing in the ring.
Michiru smiled and walked forward, grabbing the ball and continued to dribble. Shooting a few more hoops to get herself warmed up. She decided to run forward dribbling, making a good jump upwards stretching her arm up with the ball, dunking the ball in.
Michiru held onto the hoop for a moment, eventually dropping down to see the ball was rolling away. Before she could get the ball it had stopped onto someone's foot, looking up to it was Kirishima smiling with his shark like teeth with Ashido right beside him.
"Oh hey! Kirishima, Ashido didn't see you there!" Michiru jogged up and greeted the two people, Kirishima grabbed the ball and gripped it with his two hands while Ashido joyfully smiled.
"I knew we were playing basketball, but I didn't think you were a pro!" She almost yelled, amazed at how Michiru moved and played with the ball earlier.
"Well, I was on a basketball team a while back."
"Oh hey that's cool, that'll make this more interesting then." Kirishima grinned, tossing the ball back to Michiru.
"So who else is coming?" Michiru asked after noticing only two of her friends had arrived.
"Uraraka, Hagakure and Jiro confirmed. Sero, Tokoyami, Yoarashi, and Midoriya confirmed too. Everyone else wanted to focus on getting ready for the festival."
"Ah well I don't blame them." Kirishima nodded, taking off his jacket and starting to stretch his arms. He waited impatiently, trying to get worked up for basketball while the girls just watched.
The girls giggled for a moment at the boy who was urgent to start, it took only a few more minutes for more of their group to arrive shortly after. While the group got situated, they chatted for and relaxed, taking the time to breathe the cool air and enjoy their time together.
"I'm so glad we're here hanging out, it's nice to relax." Sero leaned back on the bench beside Tokoyami and Hagakure.
"I agree, it's nice to take some time to enjoy ourselves and reduce our stress." Tokoyami nodded, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, I can't wait to start training though for the Sports Festival though! I gotta figure out how to get noticed!" Hagakure confidently said, she spoke to Ojiro earlier that day wishing for advice, being given a couple suggestions but despite that Hagakure's quirk made it difficult for people to notice her.
"I'm kinda nervous about it too. But we're gonna do great I'm sure!" Uraraka joined in, the two girls nodding confidently but thrilled for the festival. Jiro was in between the girls, smiling but rolling her eyes about the two while she listened to music with one of her headphones.
"That's the spirit, I'm wondering who's gonna go see the festival." Yoarashi pondered, even the group grew curious about the possible people that could watch.
"Who knows, some pro heroes are for sure watching maybe even Ginrou right Kagemori?" Kirishima called out to Michiru who was talking to Ashido about a plan for their game until she looked over.
She was about to respond when she realized something, taking a second to think when it came to her. Shirou never mentioned to her that he would go to the festival, would he though she thought.
"I'm… not sure actually. He never talked to me about it but…" Michiru had a sign of doubt on her face, she was hoping he could watch but he wasn't one for activities such as that but still. Midoriya was stretching when he noticed her look, she seemed doubtful but he called out and was about to speak when Yoarashi responded.
"I'm sure he will! He saw us face off against villains so he must've seen the potential that we have!" Kirishima smiled, hardening his arm to flex and spoke after.
"How come you always sound so manly?" Ashido jokingly said, Michiru laughed beside her and Kirishima slightly blush.
"Now, we ready to get started or what?" Ashido started to get a bit impatient like Kirishima was but she was excited, the group nodded or answered back while Midoriya rushed back over after stretching.
"Ok then, since Michiru was the one that suggested this hangout I figured she'd get to pick out what we do here!" Ashido issued her friend to come forward, Michiru approached the group with the ball in her hands smiling when she turned back into a human.
"I figured we would play some old fashion basketball, two teams of five. The games simple, you have to shoot the ball into the hoop. You can pass the ball to your teammates and dribble anywhere on the court but no quirks of course." Michiru pointed out the last part, getting a couple sighs from the group who hoped to use their quirks to win.
After Michiru finished going over the rules, Ashido and Michiru were team captains, deciding from Rock Paper Scissors on who would pick first and so one. After a couple minutes of picking their teammates, Michiru's team had been composed of Midoriya, Jiro, Tokoyami, and Uraraka while Ashido's had Yoarashi, Sero, Hagakure and Kirishima.
The two teams faced one another on each side of the court, with eagerness to start and excitement flowing within their bodies. Michiru and Ashido stared face to face at the center, with the ball at the center.
"Ready to lose?" Michiru grinned.
"Oh It's on!" Ashido grinned back, tossing the ball upwards as the two jumped for it. Michiru reached the ball, serving it forward before Ashido could as Hagakure grabbed the ball.
Hagakure dribbled the ball forward with her invisible hands, only to be met by Uraraka who tried to block her from moving forward. Yoarashi called for a pass as he ran several feet beside her, getting the ball passed to him by Hagakure as he tried to rush forward.
He didn't realize until he looked forward that Jiro was right in front of him, snatching the ball before his eyes as he tried to turn around after her.
Jiro grinned as she got closer to the hoop until seeing Sero rush forward before she could shoot, Jiro passed the ball to Tokoyami who was outside the circle of the hoop. He decided to take the shot while he was still open, shooting forward as the ball flew across the air.
Had the ball been thrown with a bit more power it would've been made in, the ball ended up hitting the outer ring of the hoop as it bounced backwards after hitting against it. Tokoyami scoffed at the mistake with hopes of redemption, but focused on the game still.
The ball fell downwards, only bouncing once until Sero got to it, he turned to see Kirishima on the other side of the court issuing him to throw it. Sero smiled and threw it to Kirishima, but it didn't make it to him but to Midoriya who intercepted the ball before it got to Kirishima.
Despite Midoriya's best efforts to keep the ball away, Ashido and Hagakure rushed him, making him panic as he felt slightly surrounded. Michiru noticed this and called to him, receiving the ball as she sprinted forward dribbling for the open hoop. Sero began to block her shot when she did a fake turn to the right, with Sero taking the bait she dribbled the ball between her open legs onto her other hand as she went to the left.
She found her opening shot and went for it, shooting forward and scoring a point for her team and zip for Ashido's.
"Yeah!" Uraraka and Midoriya cheered for Michiru's first point scored, getting congratulations from her teammates while the other team seemed a bit down but didn't give up.
After that her team ended up scoring two more points. But despite that the game went on, with Sero and Yoarashi catching an idea to change things up.
The next match continued, this time Ashido's team received the ball with her dribbling in front of Jiro. Making a hesitation move, she dashed forward until Yoarashi called for a pass. He received the ball but instead of shooting he tossed the ball upward, everyone noticed it started to wrap in tape with Sero reeling it in like a fish on a hook and grabbing ahold of it, shooting more tape towards the hoop to fly forward. Michiru or Tokoyami couldn't reach Sero until he had already scored, grinning and giving a high five towards Yoarashi.
"Hey what's the deal?" Michiru asked tiredly, with some of her team giving off unhappy looks at Ashido's team.
"Hey come on, where's the fun playing fair?" Sero joked giving Yoarashi a high five, making Michiru think to herself and looking at her group nodding at them.
'Ok then, wanna play that game? Fine by me!' Michiru grew more competitive with their stubbornness, deciding to fight fire with fire as she turned back into her beastman form.
The next match Yoarashi and Tokoyami were in the center circle, Tokoyami had called dark shadow to grab the ball before Yoarashi could. Dark shadow smiled while he stretched himself over Yoarashi, throwing the ball to Midoriya who was open as he dribbled forward.
The boy started to get used to the game, starting to enjoy the thrill and competition. He was met with Kirishima, trying to swipe for the ball when Jiro's earphone jack was inserted into his ear and played loud noises that made his ear drums practically scream in pain.
Kirishima got on his knees rubbing his ears when Midoriya shot the ball forward, hitting the ball in before Sero could grab it. Michiru's team cheered when they were met with a set of unhappy faces from the other team.
"Hey what gives!" Ashido said to Michiru's team, Michiru gave a familiar grin she had to tease her opponents from baseball.
"Come on, where's the fun in playing fair?" Ashido had to admit, her team got karma but it felt like the rules were out and it was quirk basketball for the win.
"Ok then, you're so on!"
After sometime the match had finally finished, ending with 10-8 for Michiru and her team against Ashido's. Both sides were tired and sweaty, taking a minute to breath from the competitive match that worked them up so much and making them use their quirks.
Despite their rivalry in the game, it was fun for all of them. Taking the time to not worry about anything else but hanging out together. The two teams congratulated each other after the match, sitting out and talking to one another after how they did.
"I don't know how it's been but I actually feel a bit rusty." Michiru admitted to the two girls who looked over with surprised looks.
"How? You were literally on your feet for most of the time!" Ashido said with disbelief towards Michiru's comment.
"When I'm in my animal form, I feel lighter compared to when I'm normal. I feel like I'm wearing heels if I'm not." Michiru added, receiving oh's from the two.
"I guess that's why you are always in your animal form." Uraraka said, receiving a silent nod from the Tanuki girl.
"Hey guys it's getting late, it might be about time for us to get going." Midoriya said, looking at the sun as it started to set and realized the time they would need to get back.
"Yeah same, I better get going so my parents don't worry." Kirishima said, Ashido and Sero agreeing shortly after as the group prepared themselves to leave. Each person grabbed whatever things they had set down to make sure they didn't leave anything.
Michiru and Tokoyamu chatted privately, grabbing their things and catching up with the group.
"I had hoped I would do better at this game but I suppose there's room for improvement." Tokoyami felt slightly disappointed after making a couple mistakes playing the game, even though they weren't a big deal the only times he did really well were with his quirk.
"Hey you did fine Tokoyami, if you want I can help you out you know? Practice some more!" Michiru tried to cheer up Tokoyami, when he looked over he seemed to have the same expression he had when she gave him her number. A small smile came from his face, looking over and answering back to his friend.
"That would be nice, I suppose doing something like this would be productive for me." Michiru noticed the look Tokoyami had, smiling back but started to think to herself.
'Wait was the first time I'd seen him smile before.' Michiru felt something in her, she seemed happy to see him smile. It's like from that seemingly dark shell there was light from within.
"That was so much fun honestly, we gotta get the whole class to do something next time!" Hagakure suggested.
"Yeah maybe after the Sports Festival or something that would be good." Michiru agreed, putting back on her jacket and grabbed her bag just as they left the court.
"Yeah, but I guess we gotta start training now though." Midoriya tiredly said beside Kirishima
"Yeah, but hey this was fun. It was nice trying something new though, hey good job Midoriya you did good out there." Kirishima gave a fist bump to Midoriya, both of them smiling together while the group continued to walk together until they each had to return back home. And soon after would each meet one another the next day for school, knowing now it was time to start their training for the Sports Festival.
