"I still can't believe this magic exists and now you are going to go on a magical train to a magical school to learn magic" Mrs. Prince said at this point just teasing Roman.
"Yes, mom now can I please get on said train before it takes off" Roman said sighing dramatically then they both laughed and Roman gave both his parents one last hug good-bye. He entered the train and quickly found a mostly empty compartment the only person in it was a bespectacled tie wearing boy. Roman knocked and when the boy looked up he asked "May I sit here or are you waiting for someone."
"You may sit I'm not waiting for anyone" The boy replied then once the door was closed the boy asked "Who are you."
"Names Roman Prince half-blood apparently and you" Roman answered extending his hand.
The boy shook it then said "Logan Lancaster muggle-born it is a pleasure so were you raised in the wizarding world. "
"No, my parental unit was but they didn't tell me anything until the letter arrived" Roman said then added "What are you reading?"
"Hogwarts, a History I'm hoping to learn more about the school and culture of the wizarding world before arriving" Logan stated showing Roman the book cover.
"That's smart have you gotten to the part about house because from what my parent explained you would be a shoe-in for Ravenclaw" Roman said excitedly.
"Yes, that is the house I hope to enter that house what about you no let me guess Gryffindor" Logan said with a slight smirk.
"How did you know that" Roman asked confused but also excited before Logan could answer there was a knock on the compartment door.
"It is unlocked" Logan called and the door opened to another bespectacled boy but this time he had a cardigan around his neck.
"Hello my name is Patton Parker can I sit with you guys I got here late and can't seem to find any free compartment" Patton asked cheerfully.
"Of course, come on in" Roman said then once the door was once again closed Roman said "My name is Roman Prince half-blood this is Logan Lancaster muggle-born what about you."
Oh, well my mom is a squib so I guess that makes me a half-blood but I was raised in the muggle world" Patton said.
It was silent for a few moments before Roman blurted out "So what house do you want to be in Pat."
"I want to be a Hufflepuff my mom told me they were nice and welcoming what about you two" Patton said nervously.
"I will be a Gryffindor and Lo wants to be a Ravenclaw and I thinks he is perfect for it" Roman said boisterously.
"That is the house I wish to be in but Slytherin also holds merit" Logan said fixing his glasses and closing his book. The rest of the trip was them talking about various subjects from wizard sweets to muggle chemistry when the magic loudspeaker announced they were almost there Roman spoke up after they had changed.
"I say we make a pact to always be friends no matter what house we go into" Roman said holding out his hand.
"That sounds perfect come on Logan" Patton said placing his hand on top of Roman's Logan sighed but placed his as well.
"From this day forth with magic as our witness we will be friends always there when another needs us and Light where others are Dark so mote it be" Roman said then they laughed and took their hands away and none noticed the light glow coming from their hands.
"It will be alright Mr. Black and I insist you come to me should you require my help" Severus Snape drawled feeling sorry for the little child.
"Thank you sir and my sister" Virgil said quietly.
"She shall be safe with me and you can visit whenever you wish in fact I insist that you visit" Snape said knowing if he didn't then the boy would never come not wanting to bother him. After saying good-bye Virgil tentatively entered the train and struggled to find an empty compartment after a few minutes of searching he was able to find on at the very back of the train. Virgil sat down and just looked out the window happy that his sister was safe for the first time he just watched the scenery pass for a while and almost feel of his seat when he heard a knock.
"It's open" Virgil called quietly and the door opened revealing another first year clad in yellow.
"Hello may I sit hear" The boy asked stiffly.
"Sure" Virgil answered before moving to look back out the window when the boy spoke up.
"My name is Janus Devon heir to the Devon family pure-blood" Janus said holding out his hand.
"Virgil Black muggle-born" Virgil said quietly shaking Janus's hand.
"What about the Black family aren't you related to them" Janus's asked then mentally slapped himself at his lack of tact.
"No Professor Snape did an inheritance test I'm unrelated" Virgil said somehow talking even quieter. The next few minutes were spent in silence before the door burst open which caused Virgil to curl into a ball and try not to have a panic attack.
"Hi names Remus Duke pure-blood what about you guys" the boy said plopping himself down next to Janus "Hey I know you Janus right man are your parents uptight and who are you" Remus said looking over at Virgil who just started uncurling himself.
"Virgil Black muggle-born" Virgil said so quiet that Janus had to repeat what he said to Remus.
Before Remus could even ask Janus added "Not related to the Black family."
"Good I heard they're crazy anyway what house do you want to be in I want to be in Slytherin just to watch my Light parents implode" Remus said gleefully.
"Slytherin is the top on my list but I wouldn't mind Ravenclaw anything but Gryffindor what about you Virgil' Janus said almost sneering at the word Gryffindor.
"I don't know what houses are" Virgil said slightly scared. That was the worst thing to say the rest of the trip was filled with Janus and Remus telling Virgil all about Hogwarts and the rest of the wizarding world. Poor Virgil almost couldn't keep up and was thankful when the magic loudspeaker asked all the students to get dressed.
When they returned Remus jumped up and said "Oh I say we make a vow to remain friend no matter what house" Seeing the look on Janus's face quickly added "Not an Unbreakable Vow more like a pact are you in."
Virgil placed his hand on top of Remus's hand and Janus soon joined them "From this day forth with magic as our witness we will be friends always there when another needs us and Dark where others are Light so mote it be."
With that the stage was set…
