NOTE: HAHAHAHAH sorry it took me TWO MONTHS to start writing again! I don't have any excuses lol except that I forgot. I want to start writing every day to keep my skills sharp.
The train clanked as it idly rolled past, the copper wheeling glinting in the afternoon sunlight. You and Pennywise had come across the track and sat in the nearby woods, listening intently for a coming train. After a few slow hours, one had come, and now you and your comrade were chasing one of its worn cars down the track.
You, sprinting quickly, grabbed hold of the train car's door handle, forcing the door to open. The door emitted a painful squeal as it revealed the inter cargo, and you launched yourself into the darkness. Pennywise followed suit, rolling in beside you.
The wooden floor emitted a powerful thump as you landed in the train car, and you quickly pulled yourself up onto your knees. Pennywise was already standing, and it gazed down at you, its eyes glowing gently in the shadows. You tried to stand, but the ancient tracks caused the train car to jolt, knocking you back down. Pennywise sat down beside you, staring out at the flourishing wilderness flashing by.
"How do we know we are heading towards Georgia?" Pennywise inquired. It's attention was now placed on a pile of large wooden boxes stacked away in the corner.
"I have a compass," you replied, pulling the navigational instrument out of your backpack. "We are heading southwest, toward New York."
"You do realize that we might get caught and arrested?" Pennywise said as it crawled over to the cargo. "Especially as we get closer to more densely populated areas."
"Can't you make an illusion to hide us, or was that also lost?"
"Yes, that was lost as well."
"I guess we will just have to run if we get caught. And, when did you ever become concerned with human law?"
Penny stared at you, its eyes dulling as it realized an important fact. "I...I'm not sure. I just feel like," Penny murmured as it turned its attention back to the box.
As Pennywise began to busily work on removing one of the boxes' lid, you emptied your backpack, analyzing what was hidden away in the pockets. Your camera and its case sat idly on the ground, and a fat wallet stuffed with $156 of cash settled nearby. A bottle of water and half full bag of trail mix were the only forms of sustenance you brought.
"I will not kill anyone, if that is what you are wondering," Pennywise muttered as the box's lid clattered to the ground. It pulled out the contents of the box: a variety of factory produced crackers. Some were peanut butter or chocolate covered, and others were simply salted. You crawled over to examine Pennywise's discovery.
"I think this will last us for some time." You dragged your backpack over and started loading it up.
"What are you doing?" Pennywise stared at you, confusion blooming in its expression.
"Getting food."
"But...that's stealing."
You glared up at your friend, but your aggressive expression soon faltered. "Why do you care? You were a murderer just a few days ago."
"I feel weird." Pennywise sat down, pulling its legs to its chest. Its white stockings were matted with dirt and dust, making a nebula-like pattern of filth over the fabric. "I have lost my immortality, or what I thought was immortality. I'm...becoming human."
"I'm sorry, Penny, but I am going to take this. We are on the adventure of our lives, and I don't want to starve. Besides, if you are turning human, you are also going to want this soon."
The solemn beast clambered into the darkness, its golden eyes sparkling in the shadows, full of guilt and emotion and humanity. It sat against the wall, kneading its gloved hands, nervous about some unforeseen threat.
"Millions of years...I was a creature of the depths," Pennywise said. "Hunting. A hunter that brought people's nightmares to life. Now, I am becoming what I once hunted. I am becoming one of you. It is...nice. But very confusing. Why are you all so complex? Why do you feel all these things? They are very awful."
You zipped up your bag, yanking the zipper over the bounty that was stowed inside. "Emotions can be uncomfortable to feel, like sadness and guilt. But wait until you feel awe or happiness or love. Those are also part of what makes you human."
You pulled a handkerchief out of your pocket and entered the darkness Pennywise was cocooned away in. "Here, humans don't wear clown paint." You extended your hand toward the creature, its pupils dilating, taking in the image of the hankie.
It cautiously took the cloth away, aware of the the threat the handkerchief posed. With one swipe, everything Pennywise had ever known, identity and fury and deception, would be lost to the past.
You left the creature to ponder and assess its options, and you sat down in front of the open sliding door, the woodlands fluttering by. The evergreen's earthy perfume whirled up your nose, delighting your senses and sparking fond memories in your brain. The train bobbed up and down below your relaxed body, and Penny soon sat down beside you.
You gently took his hand in yours, and you gazed happily up at the fresh face before you. His sunset orange hair wrapped around the head of the new human, and his yellow eyes admired the nature swirling by.
"I feel...wonder."
