Chapter 8: Double Double Boil In Peril
Isabelle and Tom Nook were discussing about the upcoming event, Harvest Festival. They decided to call out their old turkey friend and have him over to Resident Services right away. The turkey entered the building and started to have a chat with his friends.
"Ah Franklin, we really wanted to discuss with you, yes yes," said Tom Nook.
"Oh, what is it about?" Franklin asked.
"Well, you see, we're just wondering if you want to host the Harvest Festival in Triforce," Isabelle explained. "So, what do you say, Franklin?"
"Hmm, you want me to host the Harvest Festival in Triforce? Well...Sure, I will love to! Tell everyone, in Triforce, that I will love to host the Harvest Festival very soon!"
"Okay!" said Tom Nook and Isabelle in unison.
One week later, Vicki and Robert were walking past Resident Services. As soon as they noticed the new post on the bulletin board, they started reading it and it was about the Harvest Festival. According to the new post, it's going to take place at the plaza on the next day. They were very excited about this and couldn't wait to enjoy the feast with Franklin and their residents of Triforce. When Sammy and Jimmy heard about the commotion, they were very thrilled about the Harvest Festival, too.
"This will be quite interesting," said Sammy. "Let us hope the harvest feast that Franklin cook will be very good and delicious as always!"
"Yeah, I'm dying for a very hearty feast, too!" said Jimmy.
"Whatever the turkey chef is cooking, we'll be ready to dig in by tomorrow!"
"Ha, ha! Yeah!"
Magpie quietly flew down to the bulletin board and checked out the current post. She read it very carefully and found it very interesting. She hurried back to the deserted island and gave Natasha a report about the Harvest Festival.
"Harvest Festival, you say?" said Natasha curiously. "When is that?"
"It's tomorrow, Mistress Natasha," Magpie answered.
"How very convenient when the holiday is arriving so soon. However, I know someone who can ruin their harvest feast! Magpie, why don't you tell Riza to take care of this task?"
"Understood, ma'am! I will tell her right away!"
The next day, the Harvest Festival was about to begin. Franklin was finally here in Triforce as he was setting up the kitchen island. He has everything prepared for the Harvest Festival and was waiting for someone to help him out if possible.
Vicki was the first to come out of her house and dressed up like a waitress. She stopped by at Robert's house and knocked on the door. He told her to come in, and so she did. She went upstairs to see him, but he refused to come out of his bedroom for some reason.
"Oh hi, Vicki, you looked great in the diner's uniform," said Robert unsympathetically, as he peeked through the door.
"Hi Robert, is there something the matter?" Vicki asked. "Because you don't sound so excited for some reason..."
Robert sighed heavily as he opened the bedroom door and showed Vicki the outfit he was wearing. "Do I have to wear the chef's outfit while helping Franklin out?"
"Yes, you have to, Robert. But this is only temporary, alright?"
"Ugh, if you say so, Vicki...Besides, this is your idea after all as long as nobody laughs at me..."
"Now, why would they?"
Robert immediately shrugged. "I don't know..."
"Then, let's go! We don't want Franklin to wait for us, now do we?"
Vicki immediately dragged Robert out of his bedroom after he quickly took the chef's hat and put it on his head. They left his house and went to the plaza right away to see Franklin. The turkey was about to prepare for cooking the harvest feast. But he really needed their help to gather some ingredients for the feast. Vicki and Robert decided to help the turkey out and tried their best to ask the animal villagers if they could trade something for the certain ingredient. All of the sudden, they saw Sammy and Jimmy sitting at the table and waiting for Franklin to serve the feast to everyone in Triforce.
"Uh...Sammy, Jimmy, shouldn't you two help out as well?" Vicki asked.
"Help out on what?" Sammy asked.
"Help out on gathering the ingredients for Franklin, that's what," Robert replied.
"Well, that's not our thing, Mr. Island Representative!"
"Yeah, that's not our thing!" Jimmy repeated.
"You guys are so worthless these days..." Vicki sighed, as she took Robert's hand and moved along together. "Come on, Robert, let's go gather some ingredients ourselves."
It took some time for Vicki and Robert to gather the ingredients for Franklin's cooking. They asked the neighbors about trading something they want for Franklin's needs. They offered a certain fish that the neighbors want for the certain ingredient. Few hours past, Vicki and Robert came back to Franklin and brought some ingredients he needed. What's left for him was to start cooking the full main course.
"Are you ready for this?" Franklin asked, as Vicki and Robert nodded in agreement. "Then...let's get cooking!"
Less than two hours later, Franklin was done cooking the feast with Vicki and Robert as his assistants. They made the salad, soup, broiled fish, and the dessert. Franklin told the residents that the harvest feast was ready to serve. Everyone jumped in and took the portion of the food onto their plates. Vicki and Robert took some as well before they're all gone. They all enjoyed their feast that they started to dig in whether they were inside or outside of their houses. Franklin wiped off his wings after he worked so hard on cooking the harvest feast for everyone in Triforce. All of the sudden, someone knocked him down with the frying pan from behind.
After Vicki and Robert ate their feast together, they quickly went back to their houses to change their clothes. As soon as they left their houses, they went back to the plaza to see if there were any leftovers at the counter. Suddenly, they saw Sammy and Jimmy took all the leftovers and started to eat them all. At least, they didn't seem to care about that anymore until few seconds later, they noticed that Franklin was gone.
"That's strange, did Franklin left already?" Vicki asked.
"I don't think so..." Robert replied, as he was assuring his girlfriend. "It's still daytime and it's not dark yet. I wonder where he went..."
"Eh, I'm pretty sure he'll come back. Maybe, he's just taking a break right now."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
As soon as Vicki and Robert were walking for just a bit, they suddenly heard the explosion that was coming from the left side of the island. They went to check it out to see of what's going on. When they got there so soon, they immediately saw Riza and her henchmen along with Franklin who got all tied up. The enemies were plotting to put the turkey into the fire, which it was farther away from his feet. Magpie started to record the video while Riza gave everyone's attention.
"Sorry to interrupt your celebration of Harvest Festival, everyone!" Riza announced. "But may I have your attention please? This turkey will become a deep fat fryer very soon! Unless, of course, if the Duo of Justice or whoever they called themselves will show up at any minute now, then the turkey's life will be spared!"
Everyone murmured in panic that Franklin would turn into a crisp if the Duo of Justice didn't show up soon. Vicki and Robert quickly walked away from the crowd and find a spot to transform. They were very curious of what Riza want with the Duo of Justice if Franklin's life was spared. But all they had to do were to find out for themselves and saved Franklin from the stuntwoman.
The residents began to scream in panic that they didn't know of what to do next because nobody knew the whereabouts of the Duo of Justice. Riza was very impatient after she heard all the yelping and screaming from the crowd. So, she decided the start the countdown before her lackeys lowered the rope to burn Franklin into the fire. As soon as she was counting down to one, someone started to interrupt her right away. Everybody looked around to see of whoever said that until Magpie pointed her wing and spotted the dynamic duo who were standing on top of the hill.
"The Duo of Justice are finally here now!" said Phantom Angel.
"Since we're here, I believe you have business with us, right?" said Masked Swordmaster. "But first, you'd better release Franklin or else!"
"Okay fine, I kept my word for it, didn't I?" said Riza, as she didn't sound very pleased. "But before I do that, I have a surprise for both of you..."
"What kind of surprise are you throwing us, lady?" Phantom Angel asked.
"I thought you'd never asked, angel brat! This, of course!"
When Riza snapped her fingers, a big pot appeared to trap the Duo of Justice inside. Phantom Angel and Masked Swordmaster didn't find that very amusing, but they only find that dramatically. Below their feet, there's water but not just water, it's either broth or soup. But there's more, they felt something heavy around their ankles. As soon as one of the heroes lifted one of their feet, they discovered shackles with chains that were pinning them down from escaping the pot. They tried to loosen them from their ankles as they could.
"Man, is this woman crazy or something?" Phantom Angel panicked, as she tried to get the shackles off of her ankles as she could.
"I bet she wanted us to become dinner for the Harvest Festival!" Masked Swordmaster replied, while he was also trying to remove the shackles from his ankles. "That's what she really wants with us!"
Phantom Angel gasped. "What?! N-No way! We're not that tasty! Besides, I really hate to become dinner, that's for sure!"
"Too bad, just get used to it, angel freak," said Riza, as she was sitting on the side of the giant pot, glaring at the Duo of Justice.
"You crazy barbaric lady, just get us out of here and fight already!"
"It's Riza, and stop your complaining already! All your yelling gives me a headache, you know. But anyways, boys, start your fire!"
"Wait a second, what about Franklin?" Masked Swordmaster asked. "You did say you'll spare him if we showed up, right?!"
"Oh right, I completely forgot about that. You see, there is a small error here...I'm taking this turkey as my hostage, instead of releasing him. Anyways, see you later, Duo of Justice, and enjoy yourselves being cooked as an egg!"
After Riza had a conversation with the Duo of Justice, she closed the lid above them when she told her men to start the fire. They ignited the fire around the pot and started to takeoff with Franklin. The whole residents of Triforce began to scream a lot louder than before. They ran around in panic that they didn't know what to do, besides hiding inside of their houses.
Inside of the giant pot, the Duo of Justice were trying to think of a way to escape somehow when they got chained down. The water started to boil and got their feet hot. They quickly moved their feet out of the hot water from getting burned, especially the chains and shackles were very hot all of the sudden. As soon as the pot was getting hotter, the dynamic duo could hardly breathe and were sweating a lot more because it started to steam up already.
"We...we can't just give up now..." said Masked Swordmaster hoarsely. "We've...got to...get out of this pot...somehow..."
"Like...how do we...supposed to...do that?" Phantom Angel asked weakly, as she was breathing very heavily. "We...we've been chained down...and...the pot is too heavy to move..."
"We...got to...keep trying...no matter what...Moving the pot...is the only option...we have!"
"S-Seriously?...Easy...for you...to say...Otherwise, we're going to...die here..."
"J-Just hang in there, alright?"
"Ugh...o-okay..."
Phantom Angel and Masked Swordmaster were trying to withstand the heat and the steam of the pot as they could. They tried to move the pot one way and another so they could escape without hesitating. Even they were chained down, they must survive while the pot was boiling. They had to be careful not to touch the pot with their hands when it's heating up.
Outside of the giant pot, the animals and the Slapjack brothers decided to help the Duo of Justice out of there because they realized that they were defenseless without the dynamic duo. They saved their lives before, and now, they returned the favor. They brought their tools to extinguish the fire and fully prepared for the rescue. Some of them took a bucket full of water to put the fire out and some dug out some dirt to cease the fire. Sammy and Jimmy tried their best to help them out; but instead, they goofed off and fell to the ground.
Inside of the pot, Phantom Angel and Masked Swordmaster heard all the animals grunting and groaning at the same time. They believed they had a courage to set them free, but something was bugging the white knight for some reason.
"I don't think they can get us out of here in time," said Masked Swordmaster, "not even all of their strengths combined could push this pot down because this weighs a ton!"
"No way, s-seriously?!" Phantom Angel cried. "Then, does that mean we're going to die here?!"
"Will you stop crying already? We're not going to die here!" Suddenly, Masked Swordmaster felt something strange about the pot. "What do you know? The pot stopped boiling? Then, that means..."
After the animals put out the fire, they're now ready to push the heavy pot down. They were pushing on one side together, including Sammy and Jimmy. The Duo of Justice felt the pot moving from one side, so they moved to the same direction as well. As soon as the pot was tipped over the side, the lid came off and the smoke slowly came out. Phantom Angel and Masked Swordmaster were lying on the side of the pot after it got pushed over. While they were embracing each other, they suddenly felt the breeze from outside. Before they left the pot behind, they needed to do something to remove the shackles from their ankles.
"Phantom Angel, can I borrow one of your hairpins for a second?" Masked Swordmaster asked politely.
"Y-Yeah, sure..." Phantom Angel replied, as she took one of her hairpins from her hairstyle and gave it to Masked Swordmaster.
"Thank you!"
Masked Swordmaster used Phantom Angel's hairpin to lockpick the shackles for just a while. As soon as he successfully unlocked them from himself, he would do the same thing to Phantom Angel before he returned her hairpin to her. After they were free from getting boiled and got chained down, they were finally outside of the giant pot. All the animals and the Slapjack brothers were very happy to see the Duo of Justice came out of there alive. Now, the dynamic duo were ready to save Franklin from Riza. According to one of the residents, the bad guys were heading out of the sea with the turkey as their hostage.
At the ship, Riza's henchmen were guarding Franklin who got tied up. The turkey was frightened that he didn't know what they're going to do with him next. Suddenly, everybody heard the explosion and the ship was wobbling crazy. They tried to hold still as they could while the ship was under attack. Riza took a glimpse of her telescope and found out that the Duo of Justice were the ones attacking the ship.
"I-Impossible! H-How on earth did those two survive?!" Riza asked shockingly.
While Masked Swordmaster used his star cannon to stop Riza's ship, Phantom Angel used her heart staff to teleport herself to the ship. Once she got there sooner, she quickly fought the henchmen who were guarding Franklin. After she beat them up, she set the turkey free and quickly teleported them back to her motorboat. Riza caught Phantom Angel taking Franklin back to her boat. The feisty stuntwoman tried to stop them, but she ended up slamming herself to the mast after the portal disappeared.
After Phantom Angel saved Franklin, Masked Swordmaster made a final blow to Riza's ship. He fired with his cannon and the missile made a large hole to sink the ship. Finally, they all returned to Triforce safe and sound and Riza lost her battle.
Few hours later, Franklin baked the pumpkin pie for the Duo of Justice after they saved his life. They appreciated his offer, but they told him that he didn't have to do this. The turkey shook his head and gave the pumpkin pie to them as his generosity.
"Why, thanks for the pie, Franklin!" said Phantom Angel, as she took the pie from the turkey.
"Y-Yeah, but we have to go now..." said Masked Swordmaster. "See you later!"
After the Duo of Justice left, Franklin was very happy for them after they saved his life. Sammy and Jimmy came up to him and asked for more food. The turkey told them that they had to gather more ingredients if he wanted cook more food for them. The twins refused to help him out and started to run off right away. This could only mean no ingredients for Franklin to cook and no food for Sammy and Jimmy.
