Kakariko Village was a swell place and Sonic was on his way to talk to some of the villagers there. He figured he would speak to three villagers before heading up the mountain. So, with Navi by his side, Sonic raced to Kakariko Village. The first villager he spoke to was a young girl with long straight black hair. "Welcome to Kakariko Village," she said. "Hi," said Sonic. "I'm on my way up to the top of Death Mountain, but I thought I'd check out the place."
"Of course," said the girl. "Take as much time as you need to look around." Sonic was about to say something else, but the girl interrupted him. "By the way, I'm Pocahontas," she said. "And if you're going to go up the mountain, you must take one of these." Pocahontas handed Sonic a big shield and the little blue hedgehog grunted as he tried to carry it. "It's… really… heavy," he said as he finally managed to put it on his back. Pocahontas chuckled lightly. "I know. This is a Hylian Shield. It's fire proof. Death Mountain is next to a volcano after all," she said. They shared a laugh. "Thanks, Pocs," said Sonic. "This'll really protect me I'm sure."
"Good luck, Sonic," said Pocahontas as Sonic sped off. The next villager he spoke to was a giant bull smelling a flower. "Who are you?" asked the gentle creature in a whisper. "I'm Sonic," replied the blue hedgehog. "But why are we whispering? Who are you?"
"Oh, I'm sorry," said the giant creature. "I am Ferdinand. I'm whispering because I don't want someone to hear me."
"Let me guess, the man in black?" asked Sonic. Ferdinand shuddered. "That sounds scary. Anyway, are you really a hedgehog?"
"Yes," said Sonic. Ferdinand grinned. "I knew it!" he said excitedly. "The first time I've met a hedgehog, she and her two brothers were very brave. There were three of them. I have admired hedgehogs ever since."
"Ferdinand," said Sonic. "I'm sorry. It's a way cool story you're telling there, but I'm just wondering if you can tell me where the next spiritual stone is."
"Oh, I'm sorry," said Ferdinand. "I got carried away. Now, as for the spiritual stone…"
The spiritual stone of fire is guarded by the Scarlet Scorch. You'd have to prove you have a special connection with the royal family before you can gain her trust. Otherwise, she might think you are the man in black in disguise. Scarlet Scorch won't give the spiritual stone of fire to just anybody if she sees a bad guy in disguise. That is how will she guards the stone.
"Anyway," he continued. "Scarlet Scorch can be found in Goron City on the gorons' throne, because she is the ruler of the gorons. You might say she is the queen of the gorons." He chuckled. "So, if you really want Scarlet Scorch to trust you, you have to risk your life for the gorons. When you succeed, Scarlet Scorch might consider letting you have the stone. Did you understand well what I just said?" he asked Sonic.
"Yes, I think so," said Sonic. "That's great!" said Ferdinand. "Now hurry to the top of the mountain Sonic and good luck." Sonic waved and zipped away.
The last villagers he wanted to talk to were two twin superhero girls, but he could not find them in their house. Sonic searched everywhere but could not find the girls. "Hey, Sonic," said Navi. "Why don't you check out that place?" she pointed to a sign that said Kakariko Graveyard. "A graveyard?" Sonic shuddered, but, he took Navi's advice anyway. So, off he went to the graveyard. Once in the graveyard, Sonic could only see a bunch of tombstones. He noticed one that said Royal Family's Tombstone. "Hey. Maybe something here will help me find those twin girls," said Sonic. He played Zelda's Lullaby on the ocarina and something magical did happen: A warp magic brought Sonic under the tombstone. Sonic stepped forward into the darkness and found himself surrounded by zombie-like creatures. The only way to get by without getting close to them was through the green pits. "Don't step in that green gooey stuff," said Navi in warning. "It's dangerous." With that, Navi made an ice bridge appear with her magic so Sonic could run safely across. On the other side, he found the two girl superheroes he was looking for. "Girls!" cried Sonic in joy. "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
The girl superheroes were wearing identical purple and gold clothes, so they looked very much alike; except one of them had black hair and the other one had blonde hair in a ponytail.
"Welcome, little hedgehog," said the black-haired superhero. "We are the Tectonic Duo. I am Pushy and this is my partner, Pressure."
"You found our secret hideout," said Pressure. "We like to hang out here in the darkness just for fun."
"We would like to teach you a song that can speed up the cycle between day and night," said Pushy. "We are certain this song will be useful to you. Now listen." Pushy played a short little tune on an ocarina she happened to be carrying. Sonic soon played the same notes and learned the song quickly and easily. "That's the Sun's Song!" said Pressure. Sonic grinned. "Cool," he said. "By the way, girls, my name is Sonic."
"It's nice to make your acquaintance, Sonic," said Pushy. "You are a very fast learner. You've learned the song so well in only a short amount of time. We are both very impressed."
"Now go ahead and make it day and night whenever you want, Sonic," said Pressure. "And goodbye. You can find us down here if you wish to come visit us."
"Thanks, girls," said Sonic. As he raced off back over the ice bridge that Navi had made for him, he thought I think it's time for me to juice to the top of the mountain.
But before he could go up the mountain, a guard was blocking his way. "Halt!" he said. "No passage without a royal degree."
"You mean like this?" said Sonic, showing him the royal letter from Zelda. It said:
This is Sonic,
He is under my orders to save Hyrule.
Signed,
Princess Zelda
"Oh, shoot!" said the guard. "I should've known you were the royal family's messenger." Sonic just grinned and winked. "Well, kid," said the guard. "I guess I can't stop you now that you've got a connection to the royal family. Go on ahead." And with that, the guard opened the gate and Sonic raced through on his way to the top of the mountain.
