The group followed Grimhoof into a darkened passage, walking further in the twisting tunnels with each step they were taking. Occasionally muffled sounds of screeching wheels were heard by the group, breaking the tense silence they had descended into. Grimhoof seemed perfectly content to not wanting to do anything with the group and, in a true goblin style, had started ignoring them. Nose upturned, flappy ears bouncing with each step he took, he looked more like a toddler than a goblin and Sirius and Remus had to control their laughter when Harry oh so helpfully whispered the fact to them, hiding it with a polite cough. A goblin with hazel hair in pigtails and wearing a baby pink frock? Now that certainly made a picture. Gringotts glared at them, sensing a joke was being made on his account by them and they lapsed into silence again.

" What a party pooper!" Sirius grumbled in his head, utterly bored and a quick glance showed that Remus fared no better. However, the same could not be said for their youngest member.

Harry was utterly magnified by the true beauty of Gringotts. There was something magical in the very tunnel he was walking, or was it just him? Maybe it was the way the flickering flames of the torches that lit up the passage danced against the black wall, shades of reds, yellows and oranges teasing and playing with their grumbling black companions. Maybe it was the very breath of air he took, an undercurrent of magic possessing each and every particle of air.

So lost in his thoughts Harry was that he didn't see the group stop in front of a thick wooden door bearing the name Bloodfang. And knowing his wonderful luck, he collided with Remus who in turn collided with the person just in front of him who so happened to be Grimhoof. He went flying to the door and collided with it, slumping against the door.

If Harry had not been so busy silently giggling, then he would have felt bad for Grimhoof as he woke up, all the while rubbing his long nose. But Grimhoof just glared at his esteemed guests, not wanting to do anything that would cause his superiors to dismiss him and he grudgingly opened the door. Bowing down to his superiors who were seated inside, he left but not before glaring at his guests once more.

The feeling of nervousness returned as soon as the door opened and for a split second, Harry wondered if he could run before anyone could stop him. But it was too late for that and him running away would not help him either in the present or in the past. He took a deep breath and with the constant reminder running through his head that he was a Gryffindor, he entered the room.

The first thing he noticed was the two goblins, Bloodfang and Gristlespear sitting behind a large, mahogany desk in plush armchairs.

" Weird." he thought. Bloodfang raised an eyebrow and looked at Sirius, having a non verbal conversation with him. Sirius minutely nodded, his head raised high and eyes unfathomable before making eye contact with Harry, signaling his approval. With a silent squeal, there was only so much time he don the cloak without suffocating, he took off the cloak.

" Lord Potter." Gristlespear greeted him and was shocked to find Harry bowing and greeting him with a polite " Sir". He barely managed to school his emotions in its usual perfect mask and nodded at him, his respect for Heir Potter increasing at the simple yet respectful gesture.

The group took their seats and at once Gristlespear began to talk straight about business.

" Firstly," he began, " we will approach the matter of inheritance of Mr. Potter. May we here at Gringotts offer our sincere congratulations to Heir Potter on receiving his inheritance," here both of them sneered at him which he, with a grimace, recognised as smiles before continuing," We hope you have received all the monthly letters we send to all our employees so as to spare them from coming here and keep them updated about their businesses. Assuming that y-"

" Which monthly letters are you talking about, sir?" Harry interrupted Gristlespear with a frown. He racked through his brain, trying to recall if he had received any Gringotts letter in any of his summer vacations. Nope, he was sure that the only letters he got aside from this one were the usual ones his friends sent to him.

Gristlespear frowned and shared a look with Bloodfang while Sirius and Remus looked at him contemplatively, both frowning as well.

" What?" Harry asked both the parties, not sure if he liked the looks on their faces or not and was immediately Remus answered his question by asking one of his own.

" Cub are you sure you did not receive any letter from Gringotts?"

" I'm sure Remus that aside from this one I haven't received any letters from Gringotts."

" Curious. Weirdly curious. Are you, definitely and absolutely, sure Mr Potter that you did not receive any such sort of letter?" Bloodfang asked, both Gristlespear and him looking at him with narrowed eyes. Harry huffed. What would he gain by lying to them?

" I'm absolutely and definitely sure that I did not receive such a letter." He told them, leaning back on his chair as Sirius hurried to assure him.

" No one here is doubting your answer prongslet. It's just that it is a rarely broken Gringotts custom to send letters to the parents or gua- Wait! Did you send the letter to his guardian?" Sirius asked, almost bolting out of his seat.

" But who is my guardian?" Harry asked, frowning. He had been taught in his school's english class that a guardian was someone who takes care of the concerned individual when his or her parents die. When his parents had died, shouldn't he be adopted by the person his parent's had chosen? Already Harry was feeling a strong sense of resentment against his guardian for making him go through the hell he had to call his 'childhood' without even knowing the person. Thankfully he was kept out of his misery when Gristlespear answered his question, surprise and shock etched all over his face.

" Why! Albus Dumbledore is your guardian." His answer only made Harry frown more. Wasn't Professor Dumbledore the one to deliver him to his' caring aunt and uncle'? If he was his rightful guardian, why didn't Harry live with him? He could have easily learned a lot of things under Dumbledore's caring guidance. And it wouldn't even be suspicious if Dumbledore publicly claimed that he was Harry's guardian. After all Harry was the only living member of the Potter family, one of the light's biggest supporters and the Boy-Who-Lived. However he was thrown out of his musings by Sirius's confused exclamation.

" But I am Harry's guardian."
