(Start of Story/Author)
Here's the next chapter for ya guys. Victor's gonna be fundraising with Erma and will see what she goes through in order to complete her fundraising quota.
Also, Victor's gonna meet Diablo (Erma's old babysitter) in this and let's just say the private meeting between the two in the omake is gonna involve some violence, swear words and maybe some bullets.
And apparently there was an issue on this site that got fixed. A glitch of sorts that prevented people from seeing new chapters, fanfics and being able to put in reviews. Thankfully it's fixed, but who knows when it will happen again so please be vigilant and report any strange problems you're having on the site. The site itself is pretty damn old, about 22 years old last time I checked so there's bound to be some problems.
Anyway, let's kick off the chapter.
Chapter 9: Chocolate and Fundraising
"Hey, thanks for helping me and Erma out with selling fundraiser candy Victor. It means a lot with what you're doing with us." Said Amy with a smile as she, Erma and Victor walked around the neighborhood selling candy for a fundraiser at Blairwood Elementary.
The idea had piqued Victor's interest and it sounded kinda fun.
"No problem Amy. I had nothing else to do today and I thought you two would need an adult in case you ran across some problems."
Amy rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Thanks for the protection Victor, but I doubt we will run across trouble while on the fundraiser that would need to be solved by Eldritch Powers. Plus Blairwood is usually a peaceful town and many people are quite nice and don't cause any trouble. However, it's nice to know we have adult supervision with us so maybe people will take this fundraiser more seriously."
"Anyway." Amy continued as she saw one of her classmates going door to door selling candy. "Fundraising is pretty simple. When people answer the door, always smile and ask them if they would like to donate to the Fundraiser. Always smile, look presentable and be straight to the point. Although in your case Victor, people will think you're a cosplayer so maybe they will also think the Fundraiser will include a Cosplay After-Party." She said with a teasing smile towards Victor who just rolled his eyes and grumbled under his breath while Erma giggled at the teasing jab at him.
Wouldn't be the first time someone mistook him for a cosplayer and asked for his autograph, thinking he was a professional.
When they found out he was in fact the real deal, they were either shocked or excited at the thought of video game characters and their respective worlds being real.
That made an interesting conversation piece at times.
They got to their first house. As Amy pressed her finger on the doorbell, she reminded the both of them to smile, be presentable and straight to the point.
The door opened and out came a brunette woman. "Yes, hello?" Said the woman with a smile.
Erma moved first and as she began to speak with a smile, the woman suddenly screamed and slammed the door shut on them.
Apparently the woman saw something that made her terrified of Erma.
Amy was annoyed by this and huffed. "Well that was just plain rude! She didn't even let you speak at all! What's her problem?!
Victor thought the same as well. "Agreed, most unusual of her to behave like that."
Erma meanwhile just had a surprised look on her face as the woman's scream made her hair spiked backwards.
They decided to cut their losses and try the next house as their first one was already a bust.
Their second try was a large brick house.
"Okay…. we should have some luck here." Said Amy as she knocked on the door. "Hey Victor, wanna give this one a try? Maybe the owner would react a bit better with an adult at the door?"
"Sure." Shrugged Victor as he stood in front of the two girls just as the door opened and out came a middle aged blonde haired man dressed like a mad scientist and looking quite annoyed with them as well.
As Victor moved to speak, the mad scientist interrupted him.
"Who are you three?! The Cops? FBI? CIA? KGB? Homeland Security? Area 51? The Vet?" Said the man in a raving mad tone as he looked at the three.
"Listen and listen well! I told you hippies a thousand times already! I had nothing to do with any of your missing birds!"
As the mad scientist continued to rant about random shit that Victor didn't care about and was tempted to punch the man to knock him and not listen to his mad rants. It seems that fate had other ideas.
A grassy looking tendril maw with leaves came out and grabbed the mad scientist. It was soon revealed to be a tongue of sorts belonging to a Frankenstein Abomination of a large Bird Monster that was looking to eat the man.
"Alright! You've asked for it feathers!" The man yelled as he pulled out a taser and slammed the door shut. The sounds of shocked bird screams and yelling were the only things that Erma, Amy and Victor heard until it stopped.
"Okay…. Guess this house was also a bust." Said Victor as he wondered what the hell he just saw.
"Yeah, let's just move on and try the next house." Said Amy as she, Erma and Victor left the brick house and tried to forget what they just saw.
Who keeps a bird that big to begin with?
They say that third time's the charm right?
Well that's what Amy said sheepishly as they made it to their third house. An average looking suburban home that had nothing of interest about it.
Both Erma and Victor didn't think so, but they tried to keep their hopes up and thought that things would turn around for them.
What they didn't notice standing next to the window was a retired farmer who apparently found it funny to scare people with an odd looking tribal mask or possible thrift-shop souvenir.
"HEHEHEHEHE."
As Victor rang the doorbell, hoping that the owner was a least normal enough or at least mildly sane. Out came the retired farmer with the mask who proceeded to scare them with it.
Keyword, tried to.
"BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA!"
Victor was having none of it and neither was Erma as they both roared at the old man, knocking him out flat on his ass and unconscious.
Was the old man okay? Maybe. Did they really care? Probably not.
As they loomed over the unconscious old man with angered expressions on their faces. Amy called out to them.
"Um….Excuse me. You guys kinda forgot to sell the candy."
You could hear a pin drop after that statement as Erma and Victor had annoyed expressions on their faces.
Both Victor and Erma were frustrated and were about to give up on the Fundraiser until Amy reminded them that it was all for a good cause and to at least try one more house before calling it quits.
Suffice to say, they both walked up to a house that looked familiar to them, but couldn't remember it due to their anger.
He proceeded to let Erma have a turn this time. She banged on the door with her hair morphed into a fist.
The door slowly opened as soon as Erma's anger dissipated into confusion and uncertainty.
Out came a young woman with a disheveled and disturbed appearance almost as if she had not a good night's rest. Her long blonde hair was a little messy looking with some strands sticking out and the pupils of her blue eyes were the size of pinpricks.
The young woman and Erma stared at each other as the woman looked at her with stoic anger before being interrupted by a cough courtesy of Victor who looked at the woman with a calm smile.
However, through his Insight he could clearly guess who this woman was, but he decided to be polite and keep the peace so there wouldn't be any incidents of sorts happening out in broad daylight.
A private meeting however, would be different.
"Good afternoon young lady. Me and my young friend here are going door to door selling candy for a fundraiser at Blairwood Elementary. Would you like some? Only 1 dollar per candy bliss goodness with some of them being Sweet, Exotic, Dark, Milk or even German Chocolate." Said Victor in his best yet cheesy "I'm totally not bullshitting you, but I'm probably am", snake oil salesman pitch type of voice.
Erma seemed to realize what he was doing and was trying her best not to snicker at how cheesy his voice sounded.
The woman on the other hand looked at him suspiciously, wondering who the hell he was and why he looked so similar to the Good Hunter from Bloodborne. There was a slight blush on her face as she thought that he was good looking before it went away as she remembered who was standing next to him.
"Sure.", She croaked out in a tone that felt cold and uneasy to anyone who didn't know with the exception of Victor who wasn't bothered by it while Erma had a curious look on her face. "I'm not much of a fan of candy, but my little brother Connor likes it whenever he can get his grubby little hands on some. So I'll probably give it to him instead of trying it myself."
Aha! So his Insight was correct, this young lady happened to be Connor's older sister.
Diablo.
As Victor handed Diablo several pieces of candy and she handed back a couple dollars to him in return, he thanked her for supporting the Fundraiser and told her to have a good afternoon. She said no problem before glaring at Erma one last time and closed the door shut.
Erma had a feeling that she knew the woman, but couldn't remember the first time she saw her. The fact that she mentioned being Connor's older sister made the half-ghost girl uneasy.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Victor smiling at her.
"Don't worry Erma, I'll be sure to have a talk with her later on." He assured her. "Now, let's continue on with the Fundraiser. I'm sure the richer part of the neighborhood would be more than willing to shell out some money to buy fundraiser candy."
That made Erma smile as she, Victor and Amy went to the Rich part of the Neighborhood.
The results of Fundraising there would be quite….explosive.
A few hours later
"Well there you guys are, you three!" Said a brunette kid as soon as he spotted Erma, Victor and Amy coming towards him and two other kids looking quite satisfied with themselves.
"We heard from Amy that you and Victor were having a hard time selling candy. If you want, we could take care of your batches and…." Said a young black kid before he was interrupted by a large stack of money given to him by a smug Erma and Victor. From the feel of the money stack, he could tell it was worth about forty to eighty dollars.
"Woah…." Said a girl with brownish-blonde hair looking quite surprised at seeing the large stack of money.
"I know right?" Said Amy happily as she gestured toward Erma and Victor who were happy with themselves. "We were just about to give up….But then they got fired up with Victor suggesting we go to the rich part of the neighborhood to sell the candy. Both of them were really good at persuading the people living there!"
The three kids were surprised and a little skeptical at that statement. "Are you sure?" Said the black kid with a raised eyebrow. "People from that side of the neighborhood are big sticklers when it comes to spending money on charity. Especially when the charity is a fundraiser."
As soon as Erma was about to speak, a big *KR-BOOM!* was overhead as a big mushroom cloud in the form of a skull could be seen in the sky. From its distance, it obviously came from the rich side of the town.
The kids were shocked and wide eyed at what they saw as Erma glared at them and made a zipping noise with her mouth while Victor grinned madly at them, eyes glowing an unnatural red.
"Hehehehehehe! Lets just say they were more than happy to part with their money after we made them an offer that they couldn't refuse. Now, forget what you saw and only remember that we made a large amount of money for the fundraiser."
The kids were more than happy to forget as they quickly nodded their heads.
Victor just laughed ominously.
Today was a good day.
Omake
In the dark of her room with only lamp light to see, Diablo sat busily at her desk looking over her research on that little ghost brat Erma who once thought it funny to scare her enough to put her into mental isolation.
Oh how she hated that brat.
When Diablo saw that damn brat again at her door selling candy she was so tempted to drag her into her house to give her a piece of her mind before killing her. But no, the damn ghost brat was with an adult, a rather handsome looking man who bore an eerie resemblance to the Good Hunter from Bloodborne.
She enjoyed playing that game a lot, as she imagined having the weapons and using them on Erma once she thought of a plan that wouldn't trace back to her and made it look like the brat got murdered in an abduction.
"Soon." She murmured to herself rather madly as she looked at several pictures of Erma. "I'll find a way to rid myself of you, you little demonic ghost brat. And maybe once that's over, I'll probably go on a date with that handsome man that was accompanying you. Not sure if he's some serious cosplayer or the real deal, either way I'll be rid of you and have my normal life back!" She giggled rather creepily as she looked over some pictures of Victor that she took and dreamed of having a life with him.
Bitches be crazy am I right? Somebody throw her back into the loony bin for a long time.
"Damn, you're one twisted bitch are you? Taking illegal photos of people and planning out to murder a small child. Guess they should have kept you at the Happy House for a long time." Said a voice from the shadows which startled Diablo as she screamed and looked around frantically for the voice.
Thankfully she was the only one in the house.
"Who the hell is there?! Show yourself!" Diablo shouted as she held out a pocket knife.
A dark chuckle was heard and the lights were turned on, revealing the man that was with the ghost brat earlier that day.
"Y-you….? W-what...a-are...y-you doing here?" She stuttered and blushed as Victor was in front of her with the transformed Saw Cleaver pointed towards her.
"Oh don't play dumb with me ya stupid cunt." Said Victor as he pointed his Saw Cleaver towards Diablo's neck causing her to stiffen up a bit. "I just wanted to have a simple talk that is all. One where we both come out smelling like roses with little to no bloodshed on either side."
"A-and...w-what d-do y-you w-want t-to t-talk a-about?" Stuttered Diablo as she resisted the urge to scream yet found the situation she was in to be somewhat hot.
Damn, this bitch has serious mental issues.
Victor merely smiled and chuckled darkly.
"Simple, you give up on this little revenge scheme against Erma Williams that will no doubt surely fail and put you in a whole lot of trouble if you even attempt to do it."
"E-excuse….m-me?" Said Diablo in an indignant tone as if she couldn't believe what she was hearing right now. "That fucking little brat drove me into insanity and put me in a fucking mental asylum! And all because she thought it was funny!? So if you think you can just walk in here and strong-arm me into giving up my vengeance then ..." Diablo's ranting was cut short as Victor grabbed her by the neck and hoisted her up into the air. The Saw Cleaver was then replaced by the Blunderbuss as it was then pointed rather closely to her forehead.
Victor continued to smile, but his eyes became an unnatural red as it signified he was done playing games with this stubborn, delusional bitch and decided to show her how real the situation she was in.
"Now now, listen very closely to what I'm about to say." Said Victor as he watched Diablo flail and begged him to let her go.
While amusing to say the least, he didn't come here to torment the young woman. Only to educate her that there are things in this world that are beyond her petty revenge.
At least until he decides to put her out of her misery.
"That little ghost girl that you oh so desperately hate is under my protection along with the rest of the Williams Family. Ever since I came to this town and lived with them, they treated me with nothing but kindness and considered me part of the family and I'll be damned if some mad bitch like you has her way all because of a ghoulish prank. Erma is only a little girl and from questioning others, she obviously felt guilty about what she did to you and is sorry about it." Said Victor as he looked straight into Diablo's eyes before continuing.
"So then young lady, I am giving you an offer that you can't refuse. Give up this petty revenge plan, seek mental help and stay the fuck away from Erma and the rest of her family. Otherwise, I will put a fucking bullet through your skull and make it look like you committed suicide. It would be quite heartbreaking for your younger brother Connor to come to terms with the fact that his older sister killed herself."
"So then Miss Diablo, do we have a deal?"
Diablo could only nod her head as she shook from fear.
"Great! I'm happy that we had this talk." Victor said cheerfully as he let go of Diablo, letting her drop onto the floor as she rubbed her neck and looked at him fearfully. "Oh and one last thing before I go." He said as he burned away the pictures of Erma that were everywhere with Arcane Fire along with wiping away the information about her on Diablo's laptop as well and even the pictures of him. "Find a better hobby, do some gardening or even volunteer for community service. I don't care so long as you don't bother Erma, her family or any of her friends."
And with that, the Good Hunter left the house in a cloud of black smoke. Not leaving any evidence that he was there to begin with.
Diablo took a deep breath as she looked at the ashes of the photos and thought to herself.
"Maybe he's right. Maybe I really do need to see a Therapist and possibly find a better hobby or two."
(End of Story/Author Notes)
Well there ya folks have it. Victor got involved with the Fundraiser and talked some sense to Diablo through physical intimidation and threats of violence. Blowing up the rich side of a neighborhood isn't the worst thing Victor or Erma has even done.
I was kinda tempted to make Diablo a Yandere for Victor, but then I thought about it and was like nah, not gonna happen. Mentally ill people don't always make the best choices and sometimes they get attracted to those that are considered a bad influence. With some mental help and a few good hobbies. Diablo will become somewhat decent and stay out of the way of Victor and the Williams family.
Also, I've noticed a few grammar errors in some of the chapters so I will go back and fix them when I get to it. So don't be surprised if you get notified about an update or something like that and report any errors in a review so that I may fix them.
