Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Spider-Man. I do not own the original story this is based on.
Metropolis.
This city is known for its forefront into modern living, with the local billionaire, Lex Luthor, who had funded the construction of almost half the buildings.
However, it was mainly known for its best Samaritan, the man of steel Himself: Superman.
Said Man of Steel was currently with the league right now, and his arch-enemy, Lex Luthor, was "away on business."
Exactly how Felicia wanted. Especially since she's here to steal from Lex himself.
But Black Cat wasn't here for the main building. No, she was at another facility of Lex Corp. Their scientific research facility, to be precise.
Inside was a project that had Plasmius hiring her for top dollar. Which meant it had to be buried deep inside. Probably in a secret wing.
And that meant the catgirl has to dig her claws into the foundation. And where better to look than on the internet. Luckily, the thief found an Internet cafe, perfect for browsing without any tracing back.
"Come to Kitty," Black Cat purred as she sat down with a soft drink she took from the counter.
Typing away, she found everything she needed: from layouts of the city to the location of her target building to anything else she would need.
After all, one doesn't just steal from one of the richest men in the world and not come prepared.
Making her way across town, Black Cat took a moment to jack some equipment from a tool shop.
"Let's see acrylic torch, a crowbar, some electrical supplies, and a bottle of sodas. That should do it," the thief said to herself. "now, just one more thing."
Her shopping spree would have continued had she not seen a floating girl in a long sleeve blue shirt with an S embroidered and a red skirt with matching colored cape.
"Something tells me you're not related to Batman. Otherwise, I'd hear of someone in black swinging through the city at night," Supergirl said as she gave the thief a playful look.
"Well, if it isn't the girl of steel herself," Black Cat said, giving the heroine a once over. "The photos of you on the internet don't lie."
As if to add a little spice, the catgirl gave a wolf whistle as the flying girl blushed.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Supergirl asked covering herself.
"Depends...how curious are you?" the thief asked with a flirty smirk. Her hand combed her hair for a moment.
Supergirl didn't know how to take it. The Kryptonian's blush became a deeper red.
Lost in her thoughts, the hero didn't notice Black Cat taking the opportunity to grab what she needed and run. It wasn't until she heard the faint sound of footsteps did the girl remember why she was here.
"Oh no, you don't," Supergirl proclaimed as she flew after the thief.
Black Cat ran but a smirk formed on her face.
"Oh, it's like that, huh," the thief said. With an idea formed in her mind, she turned back to the store aisles.
"You don't seriously think you can outrun me, do you?" Supergirl asked with a smirk.
"Maybe not, but I can do more," Black Cat quipped softly.
Using her super speed Super Girl caught up to Felicia, pinning her against the floor with both arms. Felicia tried to move but couldn't. Kryptonian strength was the real deal.
"And I thought Spider and his webs were handsy," the thief teased. "I take it you like to play rough."
"How about you tell me what you're planning, and I loosen my grip," Supergirl said with a smirk.
But the girl of steel made the mistake of looking into Black Cat's eyes. The moment they glowed, it sent a shiver done the heroine's spine.
"What was that?" Supergirl asked, backing away and letting go.
"What was what?" Black Cat asked coyly with innocence.
Just then, an aisle rack topped over, knocking the other over like dominoes in the process. Tools fell from hook and shelves as they clattered along the floor, alerting Supergirl, who turned to see the last frame fall onto her. Had it not been for her super strength, it would have hit her, but not harm her. Though the scattered tools littering the floor had the girl loose footing as she adjusted her stance. The devices were like banana peels as the hero slipped on the floor.
Black Cat found her opening as the girl of steel loosened her grip. Backflipping, the thief grinned as her opponent glared at her from the floor.
"I don't know how you done it, but I know you did it," Super Girl said and quickly flew after her, landing in front of the cat burglar.
Black Cat smirked.
"As much as I love to play, and it's been a real treat with you, I have one other item on my list before I can steal from old Lexi," Black Cat said with glowing eyes.
"Lex?" Supergirl said, not realizing she looked straight into the cat's eyes again.
Just then, a flock of pigeons flew by, separating the two girls.
"What the heck?!" Kara said in shock at the very random event.
During this time, Black Cat vaulted off the building as she grappled from another. Swinging through the air, the thief knew the girl of steel was following her and decided to take a detour.
Unfortunately, the Black Cat's jinx was still effecting her, and a new paper ended up flying into her face.
"Hey!" She yelled as she took the piece of paper out of her face.
To her dismay, she was that the thief is gone.
"What the—how'd she do that!?" Supergirl asked as she surveyed the area.
She quickly used her x-ray vision to look around, but to her dismay, the cat burglar is gone.
Supergirl is aghast.
"Next time you won't be so lucky," the girl of steel quipped in anger.
But The next encounter was just as tricky, as Supergirl found out the next night.
While Black Cat's target was clear, there was no telling what she'd do next. But Supergirl has a hunch the thief would need special equipment, and there were only a handful of stores around that sold such devices.
All she had to do was fly around and listen.
Sure enough, an alarm could be heard on her patrol flight, and just as predicted, she caught the thief there, in the middle of stealing said equipment.
"Thought you could run, Kitty?" Supergirl quipped as she floated down.
"Aw, you searched for me. How flattering," Black Cat teased as she picked up the last item on her list.
"Super Girl said as she charged forward, but the thief dodged gracefully. All to the aggravation to the girl of steel.
The thief stood where she was before turning to the heroine.
"You're good," Black Cat purred. "But Danny was more fun."
"Danny?" Supergirl said, surprised to hear that name. She made the mistake of looking into her eyes, which glowed wanting to tempt fate, as the girl of steel knew she'd meet the thief again and watched as Black Cat disappeared with another smoke bomb.
As the thief escaped, Supergirl was about to curse, until she recalled a particular name mentioned during the fight.
And the idea formed as she quickly pulled out her phone and typed a number she has known since Summer.
After a few moments of ringing, there was an answer.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Danny...it's me...Kara. I need your help," the girl of steel replied after calming herself.
Instantly, Danny jettisoned off to Metropolis, with his sister covering for him. While it was a school night, he knew there was trouble if Supergirl was asking for help.
Who knows, maybe he'd manage to get a couple hours of sleep if he finished fast enough.
After hours of non-stop flight, Danny found himself fin Metropolis. It wasn't long till he made it the Daily Planet, where Kara asked him to meet. Landing on the large globe atop the building, the ghost boy found himself gazing at the girl of steel once more. His heart skipped a beat as the two locked eyes.
"H-Hi Danny," Kara said with a blush forming on her face. One matching the same shade the ghost boy wore.
"Hey, Kara," Danny said, staring at the girl.
Kara was still special to Danny. She was his first celebrity crush along with a former who he connected with on a deep level. It took the boy reminding himself of Felicia with all his willpower to not look at all of her.
"So, you said you needed my help?" the ghost boy asked.
"Yeah, there have been a series of burglaries all over Metropolis," She said, snapping out of her own stupor.
"That shouldn't be a problem for someone like you," Danny said.
"I know, but this thief is just...all over...everything," Kara said as she recollected the thief's actions and behavior with a blush of embarrassment.
The more she described the thief, the more Danny was sure he knew who it was. Part of him dreaded the answer while a sliver was excited. that part was quickly shut out.
"Black Cat," Danny groaned, and Kara nodded.
"How do you know her?" Kara asked.
"Let's just say we crossed paths," Danny muttered.
There is no way he is going to talk about his encounters with Kara. How would he even bring that up properly?
"So, what did she do now?" Danny asked.
"I caught her trying to rob a few places. I tried to stop her, but every time I caught her, something happens, and she gets away," Kara said with an exasperated expression.
"Did you look into her eyes?" Danny asked, having a clue for once.
"Yeah, why?"
"I was afraid of that. Black Cat is mostly human, but she has bad luck powers. One look in her eyes and all sorts of bad stuff can happen."
"So, that explains it," Super Girl said, making a mental note not to look into her eyes again.
"I know that Black Cat goes after valuable stuff, any idea what she wants?" Danny asked, wanting to get ahead of the cat.
"She said something about trying to take something from Lex Luthor, but I don't know what. He's made half of the city," Kara said.
Danny Phantom was surprised to hear Luthor's name. Even he knew of the billionaire, and after seeing the cat's last few thefts, was shocked, she goes from a comic book store to Lex Luthor.
"If I were Black Cat, where would I go?" Danny asked, trying to get into the thief's mind. But all it did was give him a puzzle he couldn't solve.
"I don't know much about our little cat, but I do know the equipment she stole isn't something for petty theft," Supergirl remarked. "And since her target is Lex, the few places she'd go to would have something more high profile."
"Any ideas?"
Supergirl pondered before flying up with Danny. The two went higher above the skyscrapers in Metropolis. The girl of steel observed the city with her supervision, taking note of the buildings with something of great value.
Which was a lot, but something came to mind as the girl thought back to her previous encounters. And one location came to mind.
"There," Supergirl pointed. "The Luthor Corp. Research Facility."
"Then that's where we're heading. And I have a feeling our thief is there already," Danny said as the two flew through the air.
The building was something of a tourist attraction for Lex. showing off the latest innovations and down the line products people could want. Selling millions in what they sell and for people to see them. Simultaneously, the man could make more publicity as the citizens oooh'd and awww'd at his company.
All the while, having his more prized endeavors held deeper inside. The complex was enormous and could fool the average person of its dedicated research with the interior design—ordinary people.
For others like Superman or other heroes meddling into his affairs, Lex had taken great liberties to ensure a state of the art security system. No guards there, though his men were patrolling around the area. The outer area.
None of them noticed the sleek and acrobatic moves of a cat crawling through an opening in the window she made and using her grapple and attaching it to her belt, Black Cat lowered down, being careful not to set off anything. The room seemed empty, but the thief knew better. Using a can of water vapor, she sprayed and soon saw all the beams.
"Too easy," Black Cat purred as she avoided all lasers, high and low, with minimal ease. Security like this was no match for her, as were the guards and cameras. Hiding in the shadows, ducking, and dodging, made all of these an easy job, but the real challenge came when Black Cat came upon the entrance for the secret research. That's where the target is.
The door wasn't fancy, though that was the purpose of its design, keeping it out of sight. It was an elevator with a hidden camera inside. With a glow of the girl's eyes, the device malfunctioned as the thief used the crowbar for ripping open the secret compartment for the extra floors.
Security pulled out her grappling hook and shot it and soon moved closer to her prize.
"Come to Kitty," She said as she grabbed the container. The nano-bots swirled and shoveled inside, seemingly alive.
Reeling back carefully, the catgirl made sure to make an exit as swift and clean as her entry.
She doubted any disturbances were needed.
"Hold it right there, Kitty."
Or so, Black Cat thought as she saw her new guest.
Greeting Black Cat in the halls was a floating Supergirl sporting a stern but playful face.
"Sorry, but I think you're carrying more than you took in," the Kryptonian heroine quipped. "I'm gonna have to ask you to remove everything from your pockets."
"Or what?" Black Cat quipped back with her hands on her catsuit. "Frisk me?"
"Not exactly," Supergirl said as she flew at her.
Black Cat easily dodged her.
"Oh please, Blue Bird, what makes you think you can beat me this time, especially since you are all alone," Black Cat said.
"I wouldn't say that," A new voice said.
Feeling a grip on her hand, Black Cat was stunned to feel it pulled back into the hold as Danny Phantom came into view.
"Who said I came alone?" Supergirl asked. "Now, what was it you said about Danny being more fun? Can you handle us both?"
"Danny Phantom," Black Cat said with a surprised and pleased purr.
"Black Cat," Danny said in a less than amicable way, but his voice barely reached her.
The thief was too busy mentally leaping with joy. Danny had flown all the way from Amity Park to Metropolis for her.
Black Cat snapped out of it and noticed that the girl of steel was a little TOO CLOSE to him.
"Wait...you two know each other?" Black Cat asked as she looked between her cute spook and the...not-unfortunately beautiful superheroine in a tight costume and short skirt.
"We go way back," Supegirl said in a fond tone. Her face was smiling.
Danny smiled back at her before turning his attention to the thief.
"After Super Girl called me and told me about a stray cat causing trouble, I thought I should help out," Danny said.
"Must be fate," Black Cat purred as she stared at the ghost boy.
"I don't think so," Supergirl said sarcastically as she moved north front. But Danny took his hand and came to her side, asking if everything was alright. The heroine gave him eyes that held a dash of longing.
Truth be told, the girl of steel did not like how the thief was staring at Danny. Despite knowing the ghost boy choose a different girl, part of Kara's heart still held him.
And she wasn't the only one who could see it.
The thief could tell there was something more between the two, and while she fell a slight sting, the girl decided she could have some fun with this, on top of finding out the detail between Danny and Supergirl.
"So... I take it you like blondes?" Black Cat teased as she hugged Supergirl from behind with her head peeking out. "Can't say I blame you. They are so much fun," she purred.
The Kryptonian quickly grabbed the feline femme and threw her over the shoulder.
Flipping in mid-air, the thief landed on her feet as she glanced at the blushing heroes.
"So...exactly how long have you known each other and how close are you?" Black Cat asked. She delivered it in a playful, teasing way, but deep down, she wanted to know just what this superhero is to HER boyfriend.
"That is...None of your business," Danny said with a mad blush as he fired ice beams.
His attacks weren't just aimed at Black Cat, but also anyplace she could walk on. A shrewd move, given the thief, is the only one who can't fly.
"Clever, clever, Phantom," Black Cat said as the ice kept her in one spot. "But you forgot I have a tail."
"Tail?" Danny asked, confused. He looked to Supergirl, who had a puzzled face as well.
Activating the grapple, Black Cat swung into the air and the ghost boy.
"Whoa!" Danny yelled as Black Cat pinned him.
"Not so lucky. Huh, spooky," Black Cat said flirtatiously from on top.
Danny quickly fazed under her before she got any funny ideas.
"Oh, poo..."She muttered as she saw him reappear, a few feet away.
"You okay, Danny?" Super Girl asked.
"I am," Danny said, before turning to the female cat burglar, who smirked.
"Two girls at the same time, huh? Well...I don't mind, but I don't think Supergirl here does," Black Cat teased with a wink.
The fumbling, blushing reaction from the teen heroes gave the girl more than enough time to push them back with a kick after escaping from the grip. The heroes glared at the cat, blushes still burned onto their faces.
"I hate it when she does that," Danny said in annoyance.
"I can see why," Super Girl said, just as annoyed.
"Come on, Supergirl, we can take her," Danny said.
The girl of steel nodded as the two rushed forward as their thief backflipped for distance. Supergirl rushed forward as she delivered a combo of punched and kicks.
"You're going to have to do better than that, Blue Bird," Black Cat teased, dodging the attacks.
However, Danny, who had turned invisible, came around the fight and grabbed both of Black Cat's arms. He then proceeded to bind her arms with ice pillars planted into the floor. The thief struggled as she tried to pull free.
"That should hold you," Danny said with triumph. But to his and Supergirl's surprise, the thief had a coy smile.
"Really Phantom, I had no idea you were into THIS sort of thing...'Black Cat quipped.
It took a moment for Danny to realize what she implied and blushed fiercely and shook his head. He left an opening, and Black Cat took looked annoyed.
"Will you quit with the stupid jokes and just give up?" Supergirl yelled.
"Oh, you're no fun," Black Cat fake pouted.
"You have a weird sense of fun," Super Girl said.
"Tell me about it," Danny said, recalling their past encounters.
Black Cat just shrugged. "Can't help it that I like to have fun. Besides, I actually do think Danny is a pretty cute spook."
Danny blushed at that but shook it off as Super Girl frowned harder in both annoyance and some jealousy.
"Will you cut that out! He is NOT interested in some thief like you," Super Girl said as she got up in the thief's face.
"Ooh, someone is jealous," Black Cat said, unfazed.
Super Girl nearly fumbled upon hearing that.
"Jealous, of you? Yeah, right," the girl of steel scoffed. Her voice didn't give the confidence she wore.
"Besides, he has a girlfriend...unfortunately," the Kryptonian girl whispered the last word. But Black Cat heard her and, for a moment, frowned.
"Looks like someone still hold a torch for the ghost boy," Black Cat said, but the heroes noticed the tone wasn't teasing. It sounded like the beginning of jealousy. But before anyone could investigate, a guard had heard the commotion and made his way over.
Seeing the three intruders, the man had his gun ready and aimed.
"Hey!" said the human guard. "Who are you?"
The random security guard didn't let them answer as he activated a switch on his watch. Black cat shot her grappling hook at the man, knocking him out non-lethally, but it was too late. Instantly the hallways lit up with red as the speakers blared loudly.
Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! Activating security drones and lockdown!
"Say what?" Danny said as the doors were reinforced shut. He could hear the clicking of locks as drones dropped into the room.
Every machine could flight, but some flew by a spinning blade, akin to helicopters, that encircled them. Red lights could be seen as glowing eyes, indicating the lasers that were charging.
"Of course, Lex would have robots guarding the place," Super Girl said in annoyance more than anything. She quickly sent a laser blast, hitting one, but the rest went after them.
Get the bots, Black Cat is mine!" Danny shouted as he went to the thief. hands clasped against each other as they entered a lock.
"So territorial, and it's only our sixth date," Black Cat quipped.
"Date?" Supergirl said in disbelief.
"Not what she means!" Danny yelled, but his distracted mind once again gave his catty opponent time to move back.
Black Cat saw the look Super Girl sent him and narrowed her eyes. It was apparent there was more than going way back. The thief then remembered how she and Danny met. Which begged the question of how many dates were more than regular.
But that was a question Felicia Hardy would need to ask. Right now, Black Cat had stolen experimental nano-bits from Lex Corp. and was making her escape.
With the heroes distracted, the girl kicked the ice pillars, staggering them with her well-aimed heels. Loud cracks can be heard as the ghost boy left to assist Supergirl.
Ghost rays and heat beams flew through the air destroying the bots one by one.
Things were looking in Supergirl's favor. The robots were going down smoothly, and it seemed Danny was making things easier, but then things changed when the drones began glowing a familiar green. It wasn't like the green energy from the ghost boy, but the moment Kara dodged a laser, she realized what was happening.
"Kryptonite," the girl of steel uttered the word like a cure.
"You're kidding me?" Danny quipped as he turned to see his former date floating down as other drones closed in.
Intercepting the bot, Danny froze two solid, letting them crash and scatter on the ground and destroying the other with a punch from below.
"Thanks," Supergirl said as Danny helped her up. The action caught by their little thief, who had just shattered her icy prison.
With a sting in her heart, which was ignored, Black Cat decided to stay. She had what Vlafd wanted, and she was too curious about Danny and Supergirl. And she knew what curiosity does to cats. Which made it all the more enjoyable for her.
Though the sound of more guards convinced her otherwise. Not to mention remind her this
As the two heroes kept fighting off the Lex bots, Black Cat took the chance to make her escape with the nano-bots.
A part of her was actually a little concerned but shook it off.
Danny is a strong guy, he can handle a few robots. Black Cat thought as she made her way to the roof.
Once there, she pulled out her grappling hook after placing the nano-bots in a secure location.
"That should keep them safe until I get them to the new guy," Black Cat said.
"Too bad you're never gonna get to deliver them," A voice quipped.
Black Cat turned around and saw Danny and Super Girl there, having finished the bots.
Despite it all, Black Cat smirked, though part of her was happy to see that Danny managed to survive the drones, though that meant he and the flying girl who could bench a bus were here.
"I see you managed to beat those robots," Black Cat commented calmly.
"No thanks to you," Danny said.
"No hard feelings, Boo. It's just business," Black Cat said with a wink. "Besides, I knew you could handle it."
"Then why do I have a feeling it's more than that?" Danny asked.
"Sorry, can't say. All I can say is a new client hired me. You know how important first impressions are," Black Cat said.
"Who?" Super Girl demanded.
"That's classified," the thief teased with a playful smirk.
Danny would have intervened had a more massive bot not entered the floor. It was huge compared to the others, and they weren't small, but couldn't fly as it walked on legs. It's appearance distracted the heroes long enough for Black Cat to leave.
They both would have followed the thief, but with a kryptonite core on the mechanical menace, Danny had to stay behind, and Supergirl wouldn't leave this to him alone.
Black Cat had exited to the roof a couple of floors up where she could pinpoint her escape route through the city. She had to be precise, especially with two heroes on her tail. One she liked, and the other had enhanced hearing and multiple visions.
However, Danny and Supergirl made quick work of the drone, but it erupted with an explosion that had reached the roof as Black Cat was launched prematurely.
Unprepared, the thief flailed her arms in the air as she fell down, her grappling hook knocked from her hands.
Black Cat was actually worried as she fell until a certain ghostly hero caught her in his arms...just like last summer.
Once they landed, Black Cat snapped out of her shock from the fall and focused her attention on the cute superhero.
"You save me...again," Black Cat said with some surprise before resuming her usual purring tone. " I take it you want a reward?"
"No," Danny replied, to the shock of the thief.
"No? You don't want—"
"I saved you cause despite being the cause of all this—" Danny gestured to the ruins caused by the security drones then to Black Cat. "—you're still a person. And I'm not going to just let you die."
Supergirl smiles with dreamy eyes looking at Danny. He was still the guy that made her heart skip a beat. And it wasn't her heart dancing as well.
Black Cat eyed the ghost boy with a desire she hadn't felt before. It wasn't from the want of a thrill, but the same want the girl felt on their first date.
Without warning, reason, or rhyme, the catgirl grabbed her savior by the collar and pulled him in for a passionate kiss.
Danny mentally was taken back as Supergirl screamed in concealed jealousy—
"What are you doing!? He has a girlfriend!"
"I don't care," Black Cat quipped.
The thief didn't care about the consequences; those would come later. Right now, she wanted to thank the ghost boy, though her emotions held the reign of her at the moment. The world was distant at the moment.
She questioned what she was doing inside the head with what reason was available. She'd never thank anyone like this.
Then again, Danny isn't just anyone either. He is special.
But more will have to wait.
While he was still stunned, Black Cat leaped out of his arms.
"As much as I'd like to continue, I'm on a schedule...NeW client. I hope you understand I have to cut things short this time," the thief said, seeing a jealous Kryptonian and a cute but angry spook.
Time to leave.
"Hold it right there!" Super Girl yelled.
"Sorry, can't. I got an appointment with a new client," Black Cat said before turning her attention to the ghost boy.
"See ya, Danny, maybe next time, it can be just the two of us," Black Cat purred as she pulled out one of her smoke bombs and winked at him. The duo rushed at her, but a blinding light accompanied the smokescreen. With a flash, the heroes were blinded momentarily, but it gave all the time for Black Cat to escape.
"Where'd she go!?" Danny cried out as his eyes readjusted.
"I take it she does this a lot?" Supergirl snarked.
"You have no idea," Danny groaned, feeling down.
Kara felt the same, though she was happy to see the boy she chose to have them team up only for the thief to get way was embarrassing. And judging from how flirty Black Cat could be, aggravating as well.
"Thanks for the help, anyway, Danny. Sorry that she got away," Kara said, looking down.
Danny sighed.
"It's not your fault Kara. Black Cat is probably the trickiest foe I have ever met, but I'll deal with her one of these days," Danny said.
Kara looked at him. She was bummed that he didn't pick her, but she had to respect his choice. Besides, his chosen girl, whoever she is, is obviously a lucky woman, and no matter what, Kara will not be one of those girls who doesn't know when to back off.
As long as Danny is happy, that is enough for her.
"I'll be seeing you, Danny...bye," Kara said as she flew off.
"Bye," Danny said as he waved to his...friend fly away. That was a tough pill to swallow.
"My second team up with Kara and the thief gets away," Danny muttered.
Even worse, he let Black Cat get another one on him.
This is the sixth time she got away and the second that she stole a kiss from him.
It was like it was some game to her.
He could still feel her lips on his and wiped his mouth with his hand. It felt...strangely familiar.
"Black Cat," He muttered in defeat.
While she was still a thief, part of her had the ghost boy blushing. Shaking off his thoughts, the ghost boy knew the thief can't get away forever.
He'd get her one of these days.
But not today as he started his flight back home. It was still a school night, and Lancer would not be happy to see a sleeping student in the first month of classes. And he knew he'd see Black Cat again.
Though two things were sure for the ghost boy: he'd never understood women right now, and there was a sour taste in his mouth.
Vlad had got off the phone with Black Cat. He had called just in time to hear the good news, the nano-bots were secured.
"I knew it was a wise decision to hire her," Vlad said with joy as he stroked his cat's back. "Those nano-bots will surely help with my plans. Especially since our good friend Luthor had been using tech from a certain doctor, we all know."
Looks like Vlad is pleased and now Supergirl has had a taste of Black Cat. I wonder what Vlad is planning with the nano-bots?
