CRASH.
The allosaur collided with the glass, sending fragments flying. Everyone ducked down. One piece so close to Chris it cut him lightly across his shoulder as he shielded Yaz and Sammy.
Driven by hunger, the allosaur advanced, knowing the group was still around. It first went towards the left side of the restaurant, keeping its distance. Everyone was crawling and crouching behind chairs and tables.
"What now, guys?" Kenji whispered.
Ryan pointed to the elevator in the main hallway. "We'll need our weapons. Someone is gonna have to go there and toss them down from above."
"I'll go," Darius and Brooklynn announced at the same time. The two then looked at each other and smiled, knowing they wouldn't be alone.
The allosaur swung its tail, shattering a bunch of glasses and plates.
"Alright. Here." Ryan handed them the keycard for his room. "Look for my shotgun on the table. Also, throw me some shells from my backpack. They look like red batteries."
The two nodded.
"Good luck. We'll distract it to buy you time."
The group split, with Darius and Brooklynn crawling towards the lobby, and everyone else sneaking towards the kitchen. Just a few seconds later, the allosaurus proceeded to the middle of the restaurant. It found everyone's plates and began to eat, mainly the chicken and steak.
"Okay, he's distracted. Let's move," Darius said to Brooklynn.
As they moved, Brooklynn stepped on a shard of glass. It cracked loudly, enough for the allosaur to raise its head and spot the two teens.
"Crap," Brooklynn managed to squeak out while she looked on, terrified.
"Now!" Ryan yelled from the kitchen. Kenji, Ben, and Sammy clanged loudly on pans and pots, while Yaz, Chris and Ryan threw plates and cups at the dinosaur.
They got the allosaur's attention, and it began to walk towards them. While its back was turned away, Brooklynn and Darius ran for the elevator.
Shifting its gaze back, it once again saw Darius and Brooklynn and followed the two out of the restaurant.
"They'll never make it in time!" Sammy cried.
Suddenly, Bumpy took off and followed the allosaur.
"Bumpy! Get back here!" Ben frantically shouted.
But the ankylosaur kept charging. She left the restaurant and into the lobby.
The allosaur had Darius and Brooklynn trapped. Just as it was about to lunge at the teens, it yelped in pain. Bumpy swung her club tail at its leg. In pain and enraged, the allosaur tried to bite and claw at Bumpy, but her bony armor kept its claws and teeth at bay.
As the two dinosaurs brawled, Darius and Brooklynn escaped into the elevator. The two had a chance to catch their breath.
"Phew. You alright?" Darius asked, breathing heavily.
"Yeah. I'm good," Brooklynn replied with a thumbs-up.
The elevator dinged and they arrived at their floor. Using the keycard, they opened their door and searched the room quickly.
"I got the shotgun!" Brooklynn announced, her arms wrapped around the firearm.
"Okay, I got the bullets here," Darius said. He had two handfuls of 12-gauge shells.
"How are we going to toss these down?" Brooklynn asked. "The balcony faces the other side, and if we use the elevator, we'll end up right in the middle of the fight."
Searching, Darius pointed to a door at the end of the hallway. "How about the fire escape?"
The two nodded and headed for the door. When they reached it, they attempted to kick and pound it open, but it was locked with a chain.
"It won't budge!" Brooklynn said, panting. "Can you shoot the lock?"
"I don't' know how to use the gun," Darius said, "Can you lockpick it?"
"I can try, but we may not have enough time."
Meanwhile downstairs, the fight ensued. Bumpy was holding her own, but the allosaurus used its lighter weight and stamina to wear out Bumpy.
"Hang in there, Bumpy!" Kenji exclaimed.
The allosaur swept its tail at Bumpy, causing her to trip and roll over, exposing her soft and unprotected underbelly.
"No!" Ben hopelessly cried.
The allosaur walked up to Bumpy as she tried in vain to get back on her feet. Just as it was about to take a bite, the ground vibrated.
For a moment, silence. Then, another quake. Ryan saw a glass of water on a nearby table ripple.
Knowing something was coming, the allosaur abandoned Bumpy and took a defensive stance.
From around a building across the hotel, the tyrannosaurus rex appeared. She spotted the allosaurus and roared.
Suddenly afraid, the allosaur attempted to escape. It jumped out the window it came in and tried to run, but the rex was surprisingly agile, and caught the allosaur in her jaws.
Everyone rushed out of the hotel to witness the fight. Even Brooklynn and Darius, who lockpicked the fire escape door, watched above from the 21st story.
The t-rex flung the allosaur onto the ground. Bleeding, the allosaur recovered and barely side-stepped a lunge.
The allosaur aimed to pounce on the rex, but using her strength, she rammed into its chest, knocking it down once again. This time, ribs could be heard shattering.
The tyrannosaur then wrapped her jaws around the allosaur's neck, and with one final crunch, she bit down hard, snapping its spinal cord. She then proceeded to place her foot on its head and let out a triumphant roar before stomping away.
The group looked at each other, their eyes wide and faces white. The elevator dinged behind them and out stepped Brooklynn and Darius.
"D-did you see that?!" Darius excitedly cheered.
