Look at that, 2 chapters in as many hours, feel like I have my groove back.
Ella gazed down at her hands now covered in her adopted big brothers blood, she closed the Devils unseeing eyes and continued to weep.
"Gahrrggg!" Lucifer broke free of Ella's loving grip and sat bolt upright taking a huge breath, "Miss Lopez are you ok?"
"Am I ok? Am I ok? Are you serious right now? Dude! You were dead, like totally dead? I thought I lost you!" Seeing the emotions pour out of Ella, he did the only thing he could think of and wrapped a protective arm around her, pulling her into a supportive hug,
"Well apparently I got better!" He couldn't help but grin a little,
"You're an ass!" Ella sobbed into his chest, her tone held no venom just warm effection,
"Well that may be true my dear but seems like my work here is not complete!" Lucifer looked up towards the ceiling,
"Do you think the Big Guy saved you?" Ella's voice was small,
"Maybe, I'm not really sure this time, either that or my sister has terrible aim!" Lucifer chuckled a little despite the seriousness of the situation,
"Not funny, I have never been so scared in my life!" Ella half sobbed, half giggled,
"I'm sorry for scaring you, I never want to be the cause of such pain again, especially to you." Lucifer sobered and gazed down into Ella's eyes, she smiled back up at him,
"So what do we do now?"
"First, I think we should get cleaned up, looks like yet again I have ruined one of my suits!" Lucifer sighed and made his way to his bathroom to shower and change, Ella made her way to the guest suite.
Dan stepped off of the elevator he saw Lucifer pouring himself a drink behind the bar, his face was grim, so no luck in finding Cassie he thought, he spotted Ella sitting wrapped in a big fluffy robe nursing a drink of her own, then his eyes fell on the pool of blood,
"What the hell happened?" Dan snapped,
"Ah Daniel, drink?" Dan nodded and waiting for an explanation, "Well my wayward sister decided to pay us a visit in your absence,"
"Wait Cassie's home? That's great news, is she ok? What's with the blood?" Dan was hopeful but confused,
"No, should have been, no and my sister decided to murder me!" Lucifer rattled off the responses with no real emotion,
"Wait what? Murder you? Obviously she failed!" Dan was now really confused,
"No, not at all, she killed me, gave Miss Lopez quite the scare!" Lucifer shook his head but didn't seem overly concerned, Ella just quietly nodded,
"So that's your blood?" Dan was shocked,
"Exactly Daniel, now you are all caught up." Lucifer smirked,
"Well you seem pretty ok for a dead guy!" The Devil just shrugged and went back to his drink, "Hey, man, I won't push you for any further details, I'm not sure I want to know and besides I'm sure Chloe will ring them out of you when she get back!" Lucifer almost looked concerned much to Dan's satisfaction,
"Yes well, I look forward to that." Lucifer looked like that was the last thing he was looking forward to but resigned to fact that it would be coming no matter what he did,
"So apart from successfully murdering you, any signs of these bastards?"
"Unfortunately no, maybe the Detective will have more luck." Lucifer wasn't overly optimistic but his Detective had never let him down, so echoing Ella's earlier words, he had to have faith.
Chloe pulled her car into an available spot opposite the final target on her list, which of course had to be a church. Unlike the previous locations she had staked out, this one had people, not just people milling about, chatting to their fellow parishioners about whatever church people talked about following mass but a group of people trying their very best to not look suspicious, to Chloe's trained eye, they were failing and failing big time so she settled down to watch for any signs this was 'the place' and not just a place the LAPD needed to raid in the morning.
"I am still trying to warp my head around all this celestial business but what do you mean you couldn't sense her?" Dan was now perched on a bar stool,
"It is quite simple Daniel, we all can feel each other's presence, maybe you would call it a sixth sense but it is deeper than that, it isn't something one can really describe to give it justice, make sense?" Lucifer asked and handed Ella another drink as she made her way to the bar to join her family, still dressed in the robe but looking much happier than when Dan had first walked in,
"Kinda, no not really if I am being honest but I will take your word for it, so what does this mean?" The Detective was so out of his depth and he knew it,
"Cassiel's true self has been supressed, buried under layers of doctrine and hate poured into her head by those zealots and that is the option I am hoping for at the moment." Lucifer hung his head in dismay,
Ella gasped and Dan joined her, "That the option you are hoping for?" Anger crept into Dan's voice,
"It's either that or her very essence, soul if you will has been ripped out and destroyed, leaving a mindless puppet and I can't face that option just yet." Lucifer's tone was hard and dangerous,
"Ok, routing for option one then!"
"Indeed."
"These people are monsters, true monsters!" Ella finally finding her voice,
"Yes Miss Lopez they truly are, if they had gone about this without breaking the free will of my sister, I'd say I was impressed," wide eyes met his brown eyes, "Well it was imaginative, misguided and disgusting in its approach but so nearly effective!" Lucifer shrugged again, "but they have hurt my sister in ways Dr Linda will have to deal with, THEY ARE GOING TO PAY!" The power of his words shook the room, lightening crashed outside the penthouse as if Lucifer was summoning every elemental force he could. Both Dan and Ella froze, neither of them had seen this kind of rage from Lucifer before. For the first time since meeting the eccentric club owner, they truly saw why he was feared.
From her vantage point, Chloe froze in horror when she saw the pink haired teenager ordering the suspicious group back inside the church, the group gave small bows and followed their orders leaving only the girl to stand watch. Unsure what this meant, Chloe reached for her phone and dialled Lucifer, lightening cracked above her head but no rain fell.
