Chapter 9…

A few hours passed when Jay started to wake. The daylight was shining through the slightly opened living room curtains, glancing at the kitchen clock, the detective read that it was already midday. Realizing that his brother would be at work now, Jay got to cooking breakfast. As the bacon was sizzling on the pan, Jay heard the faint sound of the shower in the ensuite indicating that Erin was now awake.

After plating the food and making two cups of coffee, Jay heard the sound of bare feet padding down the hallway. Looking towards his bedroom, Jay notices Erin slowly walking down, wearing one of his shirts and a pair of his sweats. She pulls it off better than me. Shaking his thoughts out of his head, Jay's eyes locked with the tired eyes of the nurse.

"Hi" Erin whispered. Her voice husky, making her sound like a child. So quite that Jay nearly missed it.

"Morning, how you feeling?" Jay questioned, keeping his gaze on her face.

"Oh, worst hangover I've ever had", Erin laughed, " Seriously though, other than this headache im perfectly fine."

"Umm, that's good", Jay honestly didn't think it would be this awkward, but then remembered last night and how embarrassed she must be feeling. "Well. Will left for work and I've been slaving over this stove for the past 30 minutes, so please come eat." Handing Erin one of the plates filled with food.

"Oh wow, a detective and a cook, I hit the jackpot" Erin's eyes widening after realizing what she just said, turning her head and quickly heading to the table to eat and avoid his reaction. Watching her retreating figure, Jay's mind was blank trying to process what she had meant. Thinking nothing of it, Jay grabbed his own plate and followed Erin to the table. Going back and grabbing their coffees, he handed her one and sat down himself, enjoying the food he had made.

The detective eating his food like a man whos been starved, he eats it within 10 minutes, Erin on the other hand was only halfway through. The detective imagined days like this, but a little differently, eating like this with Erin having a hangover after celebrating their anniversary, or engagement. Jay snapped out of his wild daydream when Erin reached for his plate and taking it to the kitchen.

"Hey don't worry about that, ill clean up in a bit" Jay exclaimed. Shaking her head, Erin continued to run the sink tap and add soap, stacking up the pans and plates near the sink.

"Jay, let me do this, go shower or something. Im sure you need it." I do smell.

"Alright then ill shower, thank you." With that Jay left Erin in the kitchen to go clean himself up.

After spending time under the hot water, Jay had gotten changed into jeans and a henley grey shirt. Entering the kitchen, Jay saw Erin just finishing, putting away the cutlery into the respective places. Leaving Erin to finish up, Jay made his way towards the living room, collapsing on his couch and leaning his head back to give his eye a little break.

Five minutes passed when Jay noticed Erin retreating back into his bedroom, probably to get herself washed up as well. The silence was then broken with ding after ding after ding, looking to the coffee table he saw Erin phone lighting up, with constant messages being sent through. The detective's side of him got the best of him and he leaned forward to get a view of the phone when he saw the type of text she was receiving. Snatching the phone, Jay read through the oncoming messages, disgusted with what he was seeing.

2 mins ago - ERIN!

What the hell, is this guy stupid? Sending clear threats to a woman over messages. Messages that can be tracked within five minutes. With his head on the phone, Jay didn't notice Erin walking back into the room. Seeing what Jay was doing, Erin's eye grew twice the size.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!" Snatching the phone back, Erin begins reading through the texts.

"Erin, im sorry, but what is going on!" Trying to keep cool but get answers as well.

"It's none of your business Jay, I appreciate your help yesterday. Im sorry for getting that drunk and crashing at your place, you've been more than generous. But that's the last time, im going to go now." Whilst shouting at Jay, Erin began grabbing her bag and slipping on her shies, heading towards the door.

Before Jay had the chance to stop her, his apartment door had banged shut. Still sat on the couch, eyes slowly blinking, Jay felt as though last night was an escape for Erin.

Im sorry, don't hate me! I promise Charlie will be making an appearance next chapter. I also tried a new thing, with Jay's personal thoughts, I typed them in italics, what do you think?

Im also working on a new story, but it will be up after I've finished this one. Please review and thank you for reading.
