Dark Desires
-Who's The Monster Now?-
Sharp teeth, black swirling eyes, unimaginable strength, twisted hunger, and a promise of fear before death. They looked down on him, he was nothing more than prey in their eyes. He tried to fight it, to beat it, but it wasn't playing with him anymore.
Katsuki jolted from his bed in a deep sweat sucking in as much air as he could. He clutched his hand to his chest trying to make his heart beat calm down before it jumped out of him. This was getting worse. It's been a month since Deku has been missing and he seems to be out of his life. Isn't that what he wanted? No, he needed to know he was safe in case he showed up again.
Realizing he wasn't getting anymore sleep he got out from his smelly wet blankets and sat against the wall. The cool paint helped him get more comfortable as he fished his phone out of the mess of pillows with one arm. It was in there somewhere, he always double checked the news before sleeping.
His frustration grew as he couldn't seem to find the damn thing. How hard was it to do this with one arm? Letting his anger rise he stomped up from the ground and threw his pillows off the bed until he heard a satisfying thump on the ground.
'There you are ya bastard.'
Grabbing his phone and turning it away from his face, he clicked the side button to let the screen light fill the pitch black room. Once his eyes adjusted he unlocked it with his thumb and opened his recently used app.
'Damn, still nothing.'
No more news about any massacres. The police tried to keep things under wraps about how many people died that day but given the fact so many more people were kept hostage by the unknown group they demanded to know who they were and what they were planning.
They were relieved at first to hear that the group was taken care of but it was even more unsettling to find out that somehow the gunned group was slaughtered. Worst part was….They had no known leads about the killer.
Katsuki knew better though, it wasn't any kind of villain. That was a fucking monster hiding in the body of a quirkless reject that looked like a snail could kill him with a twitch. His mouth became dry as he remembered that day he learned to fear. Where he was at the mercy of the beast. That he wasn't the big shot he thought he was. And for some stupid reson he decided to try and yell at the bastard in a random room because that thing was in the one person that seemed to always be around him.
But that thing took that away from him.
'You're not escaping me that easy, I am going to find you, and I'm going to get that fucking parasyte out of you.'
His face contorting into a snarl he felt his lips stretch uncomfortably from the fact they were dry. He was thirsty from all the sweating, but he really didn't want to run the risk of his mom catching him…..fuck it was worth the risk he needed to drink something now!
Tossing his phone back on his bed he walked on the balls of his feet keeping as quiet as possible to his door. With a quick turn of the knob he peeked out his door to check the immediate area. No one, good.
Quietly but quickly he made his way to the kitchen to get a small drink. On his way, navigating through the dark he heard papers shuffle in the living room making him freeze. He waited for any further evidence that he gave away his own position. After a few seconds he could hear some scribbling and more papers shuffling.
'What the hell?' Katsuki thought to himself. Why would either of his parents be up at this time?
Deciding to make a detour he made his way to the noise, careful not to make one himself. As he approached he could make out a dim light from the room. Probably a lamp or something, no need to wake everyone by turning on the bright room lights.
*Sigh*
He froze again, he knew that sigh. It was his mother's but it was off. It was more shaky and depressing. When was his mother ever this emotional? Against his own better judgement at the possibility of being seen by his mom he poked his head around the corner.
There she was, wearing her loose white tank top with pajama pants. She leaned over on her knees looking over several papers that had pictures on them. Some of them were articles about the massacre, while others were pictures of Izuku on the streets and other people that he didn't recognize.
His mom was scribbling on a different paper. Her pencil digging into the page as she scribbled harder and harder as her shoulders tensed and breathing quickened. She suddenly spoke in a harsh whisper startling Katsuki.
"Dammit...dammit, dammit! Why him?! Why is he the perfect match?!" She cursed to herself scribbling fiercely.
'The hell is she talking about?' Katsuki leaned a little further into the living room, careful to not give himself away. His eyes peered over his mother trying to catch a glimpse of what she was doing. They finally caught it and he immediately regretted it.
On the paper was a massive black monster with large pure white eyes….but the most distinguished feature was its mouth. That same damn mouth that was filled with those pearly fangs that were curled into a crude smile. Next to the drawing were shaky pictures of Izuku in the dark with black swirling eyes...and that thing. It was the creature from the drawing eating, tearing, ripping, and slaughtering.
Katsuki could barely keep himself standing as a wave of nausea hit him hard. Tip toeing backwards he abandoned the thought of getting water. When he was away from the living room he turned to hobble over into his bedroom trying to stay steady.
'Fuck...Izuku what the hell did you turn into?! And why the hell does Mom know so much about this?!'
He tried to think of a reason. She said she was hiding when the gunmen showed up but...that doesn't sound like her. Did she know who they were? Were they after Izuku? Did she see what he had become?!
This was too much, he needed to clear his head. Home was not the place to be. A stray thought entered his head that maybe he could visit Auntie Inko. He didn't know what to think about that. Who knows how she feels right now...Does she know about Izuku? No, no more questions. He needed to try and sleep. Morning Katsuki would deal with it, he would have had time to process the information and decide what to do.
'Yeah, good plan. Sleep first, then I can decide if I should swing by her place.'
The air was foggy as street lights burned through the night air illuminating the ground underneath it. No one could be heard nor seen during this time in the rundown section of the city. Eerie silence was the only thing keeping anything from making any noises.
*Crash*
Except for those stupid enough to disturb it.
"Get back heeeere!" A hooded man taunted as he ran after another set of footsteps.
A smaller figure darted out of the alley. Their loose dark clothing had several cuts with a small trickle of blood coming from their hand. Turning rapidly from side to side the short chin length white hair flipped out of the way to reveal her face. She had dark bags under her blue eyes that were searching for an escape.
Locking on to a building with hardly no light she tried to get her rapid breathing lower to be quiet. She brought her hands to her knees, the only noise right now being her heart thumping away in her body.
"I seeee you!" The man called out again with glee.
She couldn't rest, not now. Her legs summoned the rest of her adrenaline and bolted to the potential hiding spot. It was a fairly large cement building with an old rusted chain link fence surrounding it. As soon as she got close she bent down and jumped with all her strength. Reaching peak height she latched on the fence with her fingers.
She cringed at the pain in her left hand as it bled slightly more. Nevertheless she pushed onwards and climbed the rest of the way. At the top she swung her legs over and let go, falling a short distance and rolling when she hit the dirt. Now closer she could see plenty of the windows had been boarded up. This was getting worse and worse.
Picking up her feet again she started jogging around the building trying to find a way in, some way in to hide from that man. If he could even be called that. Who knew that deciding to try to appreciate the creepy atmosphere would attract an actual creep who bragged about finally finding a moment alone with her.
Things were starting to look more and more bleak for her. That was until she spotted a partially broken window that had a hole just big enough for her. Luck also seemed to grant her a wooden pallet that rested nearby. Despite her being tired she raised her hand to it and began to focus.
It rose off the ground slowly, following the movement of her fingers. She swung her arm to the window, making the wood platform float over and rest against the building. Double checking her surroundings she made her way to the window and climbed into it. A piece of glass nicked her pants but she could hardly care as long as she was inside.
Falling into the dusty cold room she looked back out to the makeshift ladder. Raising her hand once again the pallet lifted slightly off the ground. Sweat pouring off her forehead she flicked her finger launching the thing away into the fog. After a few seconds she heard a satisfying crash that was away from her.
'That...that should get his attention away from here.' She thought as she silently panted.
Minutes passed and she heard nothing but her own breathes evening out. Looking around in the dark building she could see that there was nothing in it, no furniture no carpet. Just cement walls with loose hanging doors. It may be paranoia, but she didn't want to take more risks. She instinctively reached for her phone only to remember that guy took it with some quirk and crushed it in the air without touching it.
'His quirk is similar to mine. But I still need to find a place to hide away in case he does come in here.'
Dusting some dust off her she walked through the empty building. It disturbed her how blank it all felt, but it also reflected her own face. Throughout her childhood she recalled how everyone around her never seemed to get any kind of reaction out of her. They called her blank faced, forever neutral, all those fun nicknames.
A single hallway stretched from the end she was at to the other side of the building. Because it was so long, not even the night light that barely seeped through the window behind her could let her see the other side. It was filled with darkness.
'If this was a horror movie this would be the perfect opportunity for something to run straight at me.'
But those weren't real, and she was. She started to cautiously make her way down, checking more empty rooms that she passed by. Every now and then though she would see an odd thing. A single chair, numbers neatly organized on a wall, one painted completely black with a one way window that was connected to another room.
'Creepy.'
Eventually she came to an indoor balcony that overlooked a large door that looked to be the main entrance. There was a large lobby area that had one of the street lights from outside laying on the ground broken.
To her right there was a staircase leading up and down. Was it safer to stay above and have a potential window to jump out? Or stay near ground level so she could bust a way outside in case things got bad?
*Creeeeek*
Her head snapped up to the noise. It came from one of the upper floors. That made the decision for her. Taking controlled steps with her sore legs she made her way down the stairs to a lower level. She didn't know if she should count herself lucky that the lowest floor seemed to have more intact doors and slightly more miscellaneous furniture, but it gave more hiding options.
Picking a random room she opened the door and closed it behind her, hoping to wait out the predator. Her room had a window leading outside, good. It also had a wooden crate, several empty grocery bags, a sleeping bag, and a pile of notebooks?
Reaching down she picked one of them up, the title was scribbled out but she made out the number 13 on the front. The pages were burnt on the edges and had clear signs of water damage. Flipping through it she saw one of the pages was marked. Turning towards it her eyes widened slightly for a moment as she saw a large signature of the number one hero on it.
Wanting to read more she sat down on the warm sleeping bag and-
'Wait'
Brushing her hands on the sleeping bag her heart beat started to rise as she confirmed her fear. It was unnaturally warm. Someone was just here, and everything else pretty much confirmed someone was living here. Great, not only was she being hunted by some guy wanting her killed now she had to deal with a potential homeless crackhead.
'Maybe I should pick another room.'
As she used her hands to steady herself getting up something landed on her nose and fell to the ground. Not moving, she looked down to see what it was.
A small piece of stone….fell from above. She has seen plenty of horror movies, and if they taught her anything that means she should NOT look up.
She REALLY shouldn't.
It's one of the dumbest things to do.
And she's moving her head slightly upwards like a stereotypical teenage girl in a movie. Preparing her fight or flight at the obvious sign of danger her muscles tensed as she took a deep breath for the horrible, terrifying, skinny teenage boy above her?
Blinking twice she made eye contact with a boy that looked her own age. He had messy green hair with eyes to match. Even in the dark she could make out his freckles. His clothes were dirty and worn along with his face. He kept his hands and feet against the ceiling as if they were glued to it with his torso facing her.
After an eternity of a confusing atmosphere the boy spoke.
"Uhh, hi?"
"...Hello." She whispered back in slight disbelief.
'Oooo you didn't tell me you ordered us a snack'
"You know I didn't" Izuku whispered into his shoulder.
'Then what is she doing here?'
"That… is a good question." Izuku then turned to the pale girl that was below him and spoke a little louder so she could hear him.
"Excuse me, but may I ask what you're doing here in the middle of the night?"
She suddenly remembered the reason she was here, she was supposed to be hiding and not making any noise. Seeing how the polite skinny teen didn't do anything threatening she put a finger to her lips and waved him down.
Izuku looked at her in confusion but still complied. A black line stretched from his wrist and connected to the ceiling. He lowered himself on it hanging upside down and gripping the line with his hands and feet. Once he was close enough she whispered to him.
"Sorry, but I was hiding from a dangerous person. Didn't know anyone was here."
'YES A FIGHT!'
Izuku's brow twitched in annoyance at the symbiote's twisted priorities. "Do you know why he's after you?"
"No, but he said he was watching me for a while to confirm something."
This made Izuku put one of his hands to his chin to think about the situation. "Did you call anyone about this?"
"No, he took my phone with a quirk and crushed it." She glanced to the window and door for a moment just to confirm they were alone right now.
"Did you see what kind of quirk he had?" Izuku asked, hoping to get more answers.
"It seemed like mine, a telekinetic one."
"Hm, did he give you any other kind of hint about why he was after you?"
'Why don't you ask him yourself?'
Izuku's eyes widened greatly as he turned his head to the door and started listening more carefully. Sure enough, there was movement above. It was strange though, he could hear a door open but no footsteps. His reaction got the girl next to him to eye the door warrily.
"Do you hear something?" She asked in a hush voice.
"Someone else is here, but they don't have any footsteps." He replied in an equal volume.
Izuku could hear her heartbeat rising as she swallowed her spit nervously. Gently, he twisted his body and dropped to the ground in a crouch without making a noise. He moved in front of her and put his hand on the doorknob.
"Stay behind me and stay hidden." Izuku commanded softly.
"If he sees you...He might try to kill you too." She said nervously. Even if she barely met the boy, he was nice. He didn't say anything mean and he automatically wanted to help her.
Izuku's head turned to face her and spoke with a sharp toothed grin. "He will try"
She shivered as she barely caught a glimpse of black encompassing his eyes briefly. There was more to this boy than she thought, and she didn't know if that was good or bad.
The man scratched the stubble on his chin as he floated down the hallway. When he faced another door it opened for him as he checked another empty room. "Damn, how many rooms are there in here?"
Another empty room, another dead end. That was the last room for this floor.
"Ugh, I hope she's still here, I spent three weeks seeing if she had the quirk."
"Why does her quirk matter to you?" A young male voice spoke.
The man turned to see a green haired boy standing in the empty lobby area staring right at him. He smirked to himself seeing the white knight before floating down to meet him.
"Geeze kid, you sure you wanna do this? If you don't tell me where she is I might have to kill ya." He spoke loudly. Hopefully a certain girl would come out to trade her life for his. If not he's sure he could torture the info out of the boy.
"Why does her quirk matter to you?" Izuku repeated, tensing at the threat.
'Looks like he's starting to get cold feet, mine as well cement it.'
"Well, you see my quirk isn't just normal telekinesis. It didn't used to be this strong...that was until my mom who had a similar quirk cut herself. Strangely, I had a fascination in the blood. A craving! Yadda yadda I ate her and doubled my strength." He said nonchalantly, eyeing Izuku for his reaction. Sure enough Izuku's hands were trembling.
'Oh yeah, fear me child.'
"I've eaten five others, and you can guess how strong I already am because of it. So be a good boy and let me know where she is and I won't have to-"
"Do you need to eat them to live?" Izuku asked quietly.
'That's a weird question.' That man thought briefly. "No, but I-"
He stopped when he saw the look the boy gave him. He was seething mad with his teeth bared.
"I'm going to give you one chance to walk away and turn yourself in. For your sake….take it." Izuku spoke between his teeth.
'What is up with this kid?'
"You fuckin stupid? I'm the one threatening you here kid."
"You're hardly threatening."
Izuku's frame grew as black slime covered his body. The boy's face was swallowed by the new personage that smiled at the man. Naturally the man floated a foot backwards out of instinct, wanting to flee. But he still wanted the girl, and he was plenty strong now to take on this freaky quirk...right?
Venom took a step forward letting his tongue snake out the corner of his mouth. "How does it feel? You came here to hunt but now...you're the one on our menu."
The slimy appendage licked his teeth in anticipation. Across the room the man hovered in place growing slightly more pale. If he was going to fight this thing he needed something heavy. Briefly scanning the room he spotted a large light post that stretched across the room.
'That will have to work.'
Picking it up with his quirk he threw it at the monster. In response to this Venom simply swatted the metal post above his head and started stomping towards his new victim. Panicking he tried to pick Venom himself up. He nearly laughed when he saw the beast ascend into the air but wanted to cry as black tendrils launched from his arms and gripped the wall behind the floating cannibal. He put everything he had into his quirk to keep Venom away but he kept growing closer and closer.
Venom smiled widely as he got within three feet of the terrified man. The man started to freeze once he saw how futile it was and dropped the grip on his quirk as exhaustion took over. Venom recalled the tendrils to himself as he walked his way over to the unmoving man.
"Happy Halloween." Venom spoke within inches of the man.
He let out a scream right before he was silenced by Venom. The only noise filling the air was crunching of flesh and bones. Once it stopped he shrunk back to let Izuku stand there looking to where the man once was.
"Hey Venom?"
'Yeah?'
"It's June."
'So?'
"...I'm going to check up on her."
