Chapter Seven

Reawaking Old Magic

Tom Riddle sat in the forbidden forest near the enchanted falls that were hidden deep within the forest. He smiled as he sat and closed his eyes allowing the magic around him fill his body. The magic shined and crackled around him as he became one with the elements of the earth. The very foundation of magic. He had learned from Salazar Slytherin that the Slytherin line came from a long line of Druids. They were known to be natural healers and could call upon element magics.

Tom opened his eyes and smiled, he felt peace run through him as he became one with the magic. He raised his hand and smooth glass stone floated from the water and landed in his hand. He grabbed his wand and carefully crafted the glass and inside was symbol of lion and snake wrapped around each other in a loving embrace. He set the stone into a golden band.

"I must place a protection charm around it." said Tom. "But what spell should it be?"

"Young Druid, you will be faced many hard times ahead." Bane told Tom as the centaur approached him.

"Yes, I fear Dumbledore, he is very powerful and form many into puppets. He is a very conniving wizard. Please tell me what should I place to protect my beloved."

"Your soul is full of love and peace. This will require gray magics. You are a strong wizard it will be wise to place a piece of loving soul within the ring. Cast a reawaking magic on the ring it will active when she is most need of you. Returning a part of your humanity when you need it most." Bane told him.

Tom sighed, "So, my future is that dark that lies ahead of me. Will not find the peace and happiness I have been searching for all my life?"

"Prophecies, magic, time, elements are part of our world young Druid. You will have happiness, but at a cost of others for the one that seeks glory at the price of others. You must wait for the time is right. Dark magic is at work and years will pass but it will be set right. Only love of a child will bring peace to your shattered soul."

"Then it shall be done Bane. It is my only hope." Tom told him as he undressed leaving him in his black pants and no shirt and raised his hands to his heart and quietly chanted in ancient Latin.

Tom felt his heart pound hard against his chest and ran his finger over his heart slowly opening his chest. He carefully removed piece of heart and soul from his body. He ran his hand over his chest sealing up the opening. He placed his heart in soul within the stone. The stone shined red and cooled leaving it clear as smooth glass. He casted a reawaking charm over the stone just as Bane instructed.

Thank you, Bane. I will be ever in the debit. How may I repay you?" asked Tom breathlessly.

"When you return Druid no matter how many years of darkness may fall upon the stars you swear that you will protect my herd." Bane requested. "In return I shall protect your secrets."

Tom bowed his head showing respect. "It shall be honored.

Voldemort's red eyes snapped opened at the dream/memory that had woken him. He felt like his body his was fire. He rolled out of the bed in pain and let out a silent scream as his heart pounded in his chest. He curled up into a tight ball in hope to stop the pain.

Unknown to Voldemort the ancient reawaking magic didn't just return part of his humanity it also destroyed two horcruxes that one was Huffelpuff's cup and other Ravenclaw's diadem causing the pieces of soul within the objects to return to the shattered wizard that laid on floor in agony.

Voldemort slowly pushed himself up from the floor by the help of the mattress. He sat down on the bed trying to catch his breathe. He ran his hands down his face when he noticed a slight difference in his hands. They were no longer white, boney skeleton hands, but were more fleshy, slightly white but hand a more human look to them. Voldemort got up and walked into the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. He gasped at the image staring back at him.

Voldemort no longer had slit red eyes; they had taken on a more human look and nose more of shape instead of slit of a nose and his lips were a little bit fuller. He still had a bold head and no eyebrows.

"Bane, you were correct." He whispered. "Minnie, you need me. Now, I truly must find away into Hogwarts." He swept from the bathroom and made his way to the library.

Albus sat behind his desk looking at what was the diary of Tom Riddle that Harry had destroyed in his second year. He lifted it up and examined the large hole that was in the center of the book. He had worked hard for years no longer then years nearly three decades to create a dark lord. He wanted to destroy Tom Riddle. Albus sneered he never expected a prophecy to be made about Tom Riddle and Harry Potter. Albus wanted the glory of defeating another wizard, but no damn prophecy was foretold.

Albus wrote a quick note to Harry and sent with Fawkes. He needed to start telling Harry the story of Tom Riddle. He would leave out Minerva and their love story completely. He would twist it to his advantage. An evil smile graced the headmaster's face.

"Discipline your mind Miss Granger!" snapped Professor Snape as he looked at the woman that was on the floor breathing heavily.

Hermione gasped trying to catch her breathe. She pushed herself up off the hard stone floor and she narrowed her eyes at the man before her. "It wouldn't be so hard if you would tell me how! You just enter my mind and tell me to block you. I don't know how!"

"The dark lord will not treat you any differently!" he snapped at her. "He will dig through that pretty little mind of yours to find your secrets."

'He thinks I'm pretty.' Hermione thought and let a small smile cross her face. "Please tell me how I can close off my mind."

Severus sighed heavily and sat down on the desk behind him. He motioned for her to sit down on the stool behind her, "Maybe we need to try a new approach. I am sorry for pushing you. I'm natural at the mind arts and it's hard to teach what comes naturally to me."

"It's ok sir. Can I try something. I'll tell you when I'm ready." Hermione said and he nodded his head. "Thank you."

Severus watched Hermione close her eyes and breath and her body went completely relaxed. She told him she was ready. Severus entered her mind easily but was shocked to find nothing there. No hidden secrets just a blank room. He pulled out of her mind still shocked.

"How did you do that?" asked Severus truly in awe.

Hermione blushed slightly. "Well, me and mom like to take yoga in the summer and they teach us how to metate. You basically just clear your mind it's relaxing. Are you telling me it actually worked?"

"Yes, it did. It worked very well. I want you to work on that each day build a room with doors, locks anything you want and organize it."

Hermione smiled, "I like a library."

"If that's what you want. Yes. Like a library." He told her.

She nodded her head. "I can do that sir."

Severus turned to his desk and began to stack several papers together. "Miss Granger, how would you like to work on a potion with me?"

"But sir today is for mind study." said Hermione.

"Very well if you do not wish-

"Sir, it's not that. I would love to work with you. What do you have in mind?"

"The dark lord wishes to take on his once human form. He has requested that I brew this potion or better words create it and he wants you to help me with such a potion."

"Oh yes I would love to!" said Hermione happily.

The older Slytherin students sat in the common room. They had just received word from them parents and not from their head of house that Hermione Granger and Minerva McGonagall were under the protection of Slytherin house.

Draco Malfoy looked down at the letter that he had received from his father. It had informed him that Hermione Granger was not a Granger or a mudblood for that matter. She was indeed the dark lord's only child and heir too boot. He couldn't understand how she had been placed in with muggles. He sighed heavily and nodded his head. He would become her friend. He truly did like the girl. He smiled knowing it would anger Potter and Weasely.

Harry sat in the headmaster's office and blinked a couple of times. He had never heard of Voldemort's story before. He shook his head he was truly evil. He could understand why from the treatment at the orphanage. It reminded him too much of himself at the Dursley's house.

"So, the only way to destroy Voldemort is to destroy horcruxes he created. But sir if I kill him. It will be my soul that is spilt because I would be murdering someone." Harry pointed out to the headmaster.

Albus's blue eyes twinkled brightly at the young man. "No, Harry. You would be doing our world a favor. He is nothing but evil. Now, remember don't tell anyone I told this information. We will start training soon."

"Of course, sir." Harry told him and exited the office to see his friends. 'Hermione can help me. I can tell her.'

Voldemort sat in the library sounded by stacks of books when Aries flew through the open the window. He let a smile cross his face, he finally gotten a letter from his daughter.

He took the letter from the eagle and sat down in front of the roaring fire. He unfolded the letter.

Tom, (I hope that's ok to call you),

I'm sorry it took me so long to write you back. I had to think about the information you told me. This year has been anything but normal. I learn that my head of house is my mother and that my enemy is my father. It's hard to take in and then I'm learning more about myself and things that I did not know. Its all still unreal and hard to believe.

I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born on September 19, 1979. Minnie had arranged the adoption before I was born. She wanted me to have the best in life. I am blessed to have such loving and understanding family in my life. Sure, they don't fully understand our world and I'm still learning. But they have been very supportive of me being a witch. I am grateful for that.

I'm hoping to get my masters in potions and go onto becoming a healer. I have always wanted to help others. And it seems to be something I have always wanted to do. Even before I got my Hogwarts letter, I wanted to be a muggle doctor.

I know you have your reason for hating Harry because of the prophecy. But sir, how can you hate or want to destroy someone you never met before? He is only 17. He knew nothing of your world just like me coming from a muggle back ground. What made you want to kill muggles they have done nothing to you? These are only some questions I want you to think on. Please. The killings are mindless and pointless.

I look forward to you next letter,

Hermione

He slowly closed the letter in thought. He gently stroked Nagini's head. "You know something, my daughter is right. Why would I want to kill a child? He has done nothing to me. The one that has changed my life is Dumbledore, he is the cause of all this." He rose to his full height and walked back over to the stack of books. He needed to get into Hogwarts.

Hermione tiredly made her way back to the Gryffindor common room after researching with Professor Snape. She gave the painting the password and found Harry sitting on the couch lost in thought. She sat down next to her best friend.

"Hey, Harry what's wrong?" asked Hermione.

"Can we go to the ROR. I have something I need to tell you." He asked.

"Yea sure. Just wait a minute I need to go get something and I have to tell you something too." She told her best friend of seven years.

Harry nodded and watched her climb the stairs. She quickly returned with an old book. They made their way to ROR for a private conversation. They both knew would change their options about the war all together.
